Breaking news: A silver Toyota Wish suddenly went up in flames in Yishun, producing a large cloud of smoke and a constant racket of noise. Earlier this afternoon, pedestrians and passers-by uploaded several videos of a silver Toyota Wish burning in the middle of the road. As the flames swallowed the vehicle's insides, its horn started to produce a loud and constant noise. This garnered the attention of more individuals, who then called for the police and the SCDF. In one of the videos, police officers could be seen directing traffic at the junction. Luckily, the SCDF firefighters arrived quickly at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire within a matter of seconds. Kudos to the SCDF for acting quickly! Possible causes of car fires The first possible cause of a fire like this could be a fuel system leak. Leaks are the most common cause of vehicle fires and are dangerous as they can arise independently with minimal warning. Fuel leaking onto hot metal and plastic parts cause a fast-spreading fire, which is why drivers must ensure that their vehicles are appropriately maintained to reduce the chances of a fuel system fire. The next possible cause of a car fire could be an electrical system failure starting from fault conditions between the battery and starter cables or a high voltage that can generate a spark in the spark-ignition engine. The charging cycles of a car battery can cause explosive hydrogen gas to build up, and the electrical current from the battery can produce sparks that would ignite a fluid drip or leaked vapours. An unnoticed frayed wire could cause havoc as electrical wiring runs throughout the entire car. Surely these young punks have better things to do than to draw on a car with markers? A recent video posted by Sgfollowsall has netizens wondering if this was simply an act of vandalism or if there was more than meets the eye. The video opens with what sounds like a few teenagers talking loudly and using markers to draw vulgarities on a grey Volkswagen Touran. The location appears to be an open carpark along East Coast Park. The person filming walks around the vehicle to show the various doodles made by his friends. He then proceeds to pick up a marker to make his mark on the car with an offensive comment to LTA. The clip ends with a picture of the finished product – the SGD $197,900 vehicle completely covered in doodles. Is this vandalism? At first glance, one would assume that these punks were vandalising a stranger’s car with malicious intent. However, several comments under the post highlighted the possibility of these boys playing a prank on a friend. A commenter also added that the vehicle owner had intended to respray his car and encouraged his friends to draw on it before doing so. While we are unsure of the actual scenario, let’s discuss the possible consequences of vandalism and what constitutes vandalism in Singapore. According to the Vandalism Act, writing, drawing, painting, marking or inscribing on any public property or private property any word, slogan, caricature, drawing, mark, or symbol without the written consent of the owner counts as vandalism. How dare you honk at him? Can't you see he's making an illegal U-turn?

A certain camcar driver finds himself on the receiving end of an angsty display after honking at a Toyota Corolla for making an illegal U-turn. The entirety of this short clip accurately shows how fragile some drivers' egos can be. The video starts with the camcar driver travelling down Punggol Field, right behind a grey Toyota Corolla. The vehicle travels between the last and middle lane, with the driver suddenly staying in the middle lane as both vehicles approach the traffic junction. Presuming that the Corolla would be going straight, the camcar driver tries to make his right turn - only to have the grey car cut him off as the driver attempts to perform an illegal U-turn. Confused, the camcar driver pressed his horn just as he stops in time to avoid a collision. This upsets the other driver, who wildly waves his arm out of his window. However, he doesn't stop there as he rolls down his window, gets out of his car and proceeds to angrily gesture and justify his U-turn. All I can say is that has to be the most small d*@! energy thing I have seen this whole year. Illegal U-turns in Singapore While some netizens have commented that there could have been a U-turn sign, our research says otherwise. Upon entering the location into Google Maps, we see that the entire stretch that both vehicles were on did not have any 'U-turn ahead' signs. According to the Road Traffic Rules, While some drivers tend to make a large U-turn in order to avoid curb rash on their rims, it is highly discouraged as this might result in a collision with oncoming vehicles on the right-turning lane. Drivers found guilty of making an unauthorised U-turn will face a fine of up to $150. In a recent Facebook post, a driver shares his horrific story of how renting a BlueSG car almost got him killed. On 1st November 2021, as the driver was driving his BlueSG while running errands, he notices something odd with the vehicle. According to him, the car was making weird sounds and he felt a tremble while driving. It was at this point that he decided to stop the car and inspect it at the side of the road. As the car comes to a complete stop, the front left wheel suddenly pops out and rolls away. Shocked, the driver manages to chase the wheel and leans it against a pole as he waited for help. Upon further inspection of the vehicle, he realises that the bolts holding the wheel are missing from the hub. This is incredibly dangerous as a single missing bolt increases pressure on the wheel, which can cause damage to wheel bearings and studs and make the other bolts fall off as well. Recounting his experience, the driver was thankful that he did not hit any vehicle and was able to stop in time before the wheel fell off and rolled away. He had intended to drive onto the expressway with the car before that. In his statement, he urged other drivers to stop driving rental cars if they experience weird sounds or trembling while on the road. He also urged those who had experienced this to report it to the company so that they could take the vehicle back before others could rent it. Hopefully, this will be the first and last time something like this happens to a BlueSG driver. Fierce Jaguar F-PACE runs away like a scaredy cat after hitting camcar

A white Jaguar F-PACE miscalculates camcar's actions and switches lanes too early, resulting in an unexpected hit-and-run. The video starts with the camcar and several other vehicles patiently waiting for the green light at the junction between Bukit Timah and Kheam Hock Road. Upon the appearance of the green light, all cars start to move off, with the Honda Jazz in front of the camcar making a right turn. It is at this moment that the white Jaguar F-PACE decides to filter to the right lane, as the driver assumes that the camcar would be making a right turn as well instead of going straight ahead. This results in a pretty nasty hit between both vehicles. Unlike the fierceness of the vehicle's name, the Jaguar driver immediately increases his speed and runs away after the hit. Do you see the resemblance? The location of the accident While most would agree that the Jaguar F-PACE was being too 'kan chiong' in his judgement, some questioned if the camcar was in a right-turn only lane. Upon further research, here is a quick screengrab of the location. According to the video, the camcar was in Lane 1, which is a lane where vehicles can turn right or go straight ahead, while the Jaguar was in the middle lane. An Audi A3 driver makes a terrible decision in the middle of the SLE expressway and gets shamed for it. That's right guys, you read the video title correctly. In the video, a cam car cruises down the first lane of the expressway when suddenly, the grey Toyota Vios in front of him abruptly brakes. This causes the cam car to hit his own brakes as well to avoid rear-ending the Vios. As expected, the sudden braking of both vehicles leads to a motorcyclist almost hitting the grey Vios as he performs a lane split. Puzzled over the sudden braking, the cam car eventually makes it further down the expressway, only to find a stationary red Audi A3 in the middle of the first lane. The owner can be seen climbing over the divider to retrieve something of his before running back to his precious car. This causes the cam car driver to let out an audible exclamation of "Walao eh!", which voices his disapproval at the Audi driver's inconsiderate actions. Why did the Audi driver stop his car in Lane 1? The A3 driver stopped his car in the middle of the first lane to retrieve this: Yep, that's right - a mirror cover. For those who are unfamiliar with these, a mirror cover covers the back and over of a car's side view mirrors. Its purpose is to protect the mirrors from dirt and debris coming up off the road, as well as to contribute to its aesthetic features. While it is rare for mirror covers to suddenly fly off while you're driving, it's possible for it to happen when one or more of the connection points on the cover is bent or broken. Although it is alarming to have your side mirror covers come off, the part is usually replaceable at a dealer's workshop. I assume that most drivers have encountered road hogs every now and then (I know, they're not that fun to deal with). While some of these road hoggers tend to be pretty new to driving, there are some incredibly annoying 'lao jiao' drivers who insist on holding up traffic during busy timings. Because of their behaviour, it's hard to switch lanes sometimes and it's even harder to keep calm when I'm in a rush. So what do you do when you encounter road hoggers? Do you just honk at them until they speed up or do you just suck it up and follow behind until they're out of your way? 😞

Mercedes driver tests the patience of other road users by hogging the extreme right overtaking lane in an underground expressway. Is it just me or are there more and more entitled drivers appearing as the days go by? In this video, a black Mercedes car is seen taking his time as he drives on the extreme right lane - a lane that is intended for the purpose of overtaking other vehicles. While it is hard to notice him at first, the driver continues to maintain his own speed on the lane, which forces a car to squeeze and overtake him on the left instead. As the minutes pass, the driver does not show any sign of leaving the overtaking lane. The camcar tries to alert him by flashing his lights, which causes the black car to slow down tremendously. This scares the camcar driver, and forces him to follow the previous vehicle in overtaking on the left. Is driving at the maximum speed on the right lane considered road hogging? Several netizens have come to the Mercedes driver's aid, stating that he could have been travelling at the legal speed limit on the right lane or that he might have wanted to turn right. However, according to the Highway Code, drivers are to keep to either the left or the center lane on a three-lane carriageway. The extreme right lane is for overtaking only, drivers are not allowed to stay in it longer than necessary after overtaking vehicles in the middle lane. Additionally, the Mercedes did not turn on its right signal during the course of the video. While the driver might have been travelling at a higher speed (or at the speed limit), driving in a manner that obstructs vehicles moving at a faster speed is also considered road hogging and is an offence in Singapore. Drivers will receive a fine of up to $2,000, 4 demerit points and an imprisonment term of up to 6 months. This Honda driver's friend has set the standards when it comes to helping a brother out in a time of need. In the video, a black Honda is driving along a road when the driver suddenly realises something important - he had forgotten to display his P-plate at the back of the car. Not wanting to risk getting caught by the authorities (yes, failure to display a P-plate is an offence), his friend comes up with an ingenious plan. Now, I'm not sure about what the rest of you guys think but I'd say it's a pretty solid plan. While the P-plates in Singapore do come with velcro tape (in a new package), it has been speculated that the driver might not actually own the car that he's driving and that it could belong to a relative or a car rental service. In Singapore, a failure to display a P-plate for new drivers is an offence. A fine will be issued for first-time offenders and repeat offenders will have their license revoked. So, if you're a P-plater, don't forget to check for both plates at the front and back of your car before driving off! The number of clusters involving bus interchanges has grown to seven after the first two - at Bishan and Sengkang - were announced on Aug 14. An LTA spokesman told The Straits Times on Monday (Aug 30) that there are currently 23 infected bus captains in the Bishan cluster and 14 in the Sengkang one. Two new clusters - identified on Aug 26 - currently involve 33 bus captains at the Toa Payoh interchange, and 13 at the Punggol one. Another three clusters - announced over the last three days - currently involve nine bus captains in the Clementi interchange, 15 in the Jurong East interchange and 13 in the Boon Lay interchange. According to the Ministry of Health (MOH) website, another 54 cases - staff from these interchanges and their contacts- are also linked to the seven clusters. The LTA spokesman said many of the cases were picked up early and clusters isolated as a result of community surveillance testing and proactive regular testing. Of the 120 infected bus captains, four were unvaccinated. The rest are fully inoculated, and most are asymptomatic or showing only mild symptoms. Overall, 99 per cent of front-line public transport workers have completed their first dose of the vaccine, and over 95 per cent are fully inoculated, said the spokesman. Asked what is being done to ensure commuter safety at bus interchanges, he added: "Once a cluster at a public transport node is detected, deep cleaning and disinfection is carried at the location as well as on all affected buses and common facilities. This is in addition to the stepped up cleaning regime that operators have put in place since last year." Safe management measures are also strictly enforced, and in light of the recent developments, workers will have to take their meals and smoke breaks alone even if they are fully vaccinated, said the spokesman. Looks like there’s a new kind of pedestrian on the streets of Singapore. Why did the chicken cross the road? I never understood that joke. Partially because there’s hardly any free-roaming chickens in most districts and because I have never actually seen a chicken cross a road until today. The chicken looked confused by the environment as it went back and forth on the first half of the road. However, it seemed to realise that it wasn’t safe to be on the road as it dashed across at lightning speed to the pavement on the other end. Games have been made I get why ‘Crossy Road’ features a chicken in its game now. Are you smarter than a chicken? If a chicken can wait for the green man to cross the road, why can't we? There has been a rise in local cases of drivers hitting jaywalkers in Singapore – all because they were too impatient to wait for the green man. The most recent high-profile case involved a jaywalking man somersaulting in the air after getting hit by a van in Sengkang in May this year. Luckily for him, he was brought to Khoo Teck Puat hospital immediately and managed to survive while sustaining several injuries. Another recent case was featured on MCF and it involved two jaywalking uncles shuffling across the road when the red man was on. As the yellow cab zoomed past the crossing, it brushed past both jaywalkers which gave the driver an unnecessary scare. According to the Singapore Police Force, elderly pedestrians account for more than 80% of fatal road accidents in 2020, with half of these accidents involving jaywalking. A**hole Mercedes taxi driver aggressively honks and tailgates cyclists

An impatient Mercedes taxi driver repeatedly honks aggressively at cyclists and recklessly drives like a 10/10 a**hole. On Monday (Aug 9), a group of cyclists were cycling along the junction of Thomson Road and Balestier Road at seven in the morning when they encountered a rude taxi driver. The Mercedes taxi driver could be seen tailgating the cyclists as they turned right at the junction in the video. He aggressively honked at them despite not being in the same lane as the cyclists. Towards the end, the taxi suddenly sped up and cut in front of the group. The taxi then took the left filter lane towards Whitley Road without observing the proper safety distance. LTA's rules and regulations for cycling on the road While the cyclists received backlash for riding on the roads, it seemed that they were following the proper rules and regulations. They were wearing helmets, rode in a single file as close to the left-hand edge as possible and switched on their front and rear lights. They were decked out in national colours and did not use any mobile communication devices while riding on the road. Netizens’ reactions While there is a stigma towards cyclists, there is no need to be such an a** towards them. If the taxi driver wanted to warn the cyclists, he could have honked once instead of continuously honking at them. With the National Day Parade being postponed to Aug 21, cyclists are coming up with creative ways to celebrate the country's 56th birthday. Cyclist transforms himself into a bright display The first video shows a cyclist decked out in flashing lights and blasting patriotic music through his speakers as he cycles through a neighbourhood. The sight of this adorable cyclist reminds me of the time when a previous NDP performance featured several similar well-lit bicycles and motorcycles during the parade. It's really heartwarming to watch this cyclist spread joy and happiness when the country is going through a global pandemic. Cyclist waves large state flag around The second video is made up of various snippets of an uncle cycling along the roads of Singapore with a large state flag attached to the front of his bicycle. The uncle is seen waving and giving a thumbs up when he notices people taking pictures and videos of him. While this patriotic display is heartwarming to watch, it does not excuse his lack of safety equipment as he cycles around (uncle, please wear a helmet). Jaywalking uncle and his +1 jam brakes to avoid getting hit by taxi

Two pedestrians jaywalk across a junction in Bangkit Road and almost lost their lives. In this short clip, two men jog across a pedestrian crossing on a red light. As they almost reached the other end of the crossing, a yellow taxi quickly zooms past them. The vehicle nearly hits the uncle at the front, who notices the car and slows down for a second. The camcar follows the taxi as it slows down further up the road, with the driver claiming that the taxi uncle had the fright of his life after encountering the two jaywalkers. Although the taxi had the right of way, the driver should have practiced defensive driving and slow down when approaching the junction. Just because the light is red for pedestrians does not mean that there won't be any jaywalkers around. However, there is no excuse for jaywalkers to think they own the road and that the vehicles will slow down for them. Jaywalking is an offense in Singapore and it merits a fine of $50 for first-time offenders. Personally, I think the most entertaining thing in this video is the adorable way that the uncle slows down when he notices the taxi as he jaywalks/jayruns. The manner in which he crosses the road is mildly feminine as well, which raises some eyebrows. A taxi driver falls victim to a van driver's road rage when he obstructs the path of the van driver. There are two videos of the incident. 1. Taxi driver's POV 2. Passenger of the taxi's POV The taxi driver's POV The clip starts with the taxi driver moving off after dropping a passenger at Loyang Rise. As there are numerous cars parked along the lane and obstructing his right of way, he decides to travel on the opposing lane. He notices a black van from afar and stops his vehicle, hoping that the van driver will let him pass before moving on. However, the van proceeds to move forward and blocks the taxi's path. We can hear the taxi driver honking at the van as the van intentionally moves forward despite the taxi obstructing its path. The van driver honks back in retaliation before hurling vulgarities and shouting at the taxi driver. This left the taxi with no choice but to reverse and angle his car slightly towards a small gap in the middle of the road to let the van pass. The passenger has also stated that the driver kept trying to intimidate the taxi uncle while he tried to give way to him. Before the taxi driver could properly reverse and adjust the angle of his car, the van impatiently tried to go around the vehicle and ended up hitting the taxi's side mirror. The taxi driver sounds this off to the van driver only to be answered with a string of vulgarities yet again. The incident occurred on Thursday morning (July 29) at Yishun, near Chongfu Primary School. According to the camcar’s Facebook post, his wife sent their son to school in the morning and stopped kerbside for the boy to alight. The footage showed that while she was stopping, it looked like she accidentally cut into the navy blue Mazda’s lane as the driver had wanted to move off. Thinking that it was on purpose, the driver got upset and merged into the next lane. From there, he continuously taunted her with dangerous stunts, such as jamming the brakes and blocking the vehicle from moving off while on the road. She tried to shake off the Mazda driver by switching lanes, but the driver kept going back and forth between both lanes just to cut her off. In the middle of the video, the driver suddenly stopped his vehicle in a yellow box and alighted, which obstructed the traffic flow. He then made his way to the camcar and proceeded to scold and threaten the driver for cutting into his lane. This went on for a while as other vehicles tried to move around the parked Mazda while the driver throws his temper tantrum. The rest of the video showed the Mazda driver wildly gesturing to the camcar driver, continuously taunting her before moving off in an illegal u-turn. A cheapo Mercedes e250 owner is under fire for using water from the fire hose to wash her vehicle in a multi-storey carpark. Caught at a HDB estate in Ang Mo Kio, the video shows a family utilising a fire hose reel to wash their car on the seventh level of a multi-storey carpark. The lady (presumably the mother) slowly fills up a bucket which her son is holding with water from the high-pressure hose. According to the cam car, this family does not reside around the area, but that does not stop them from frequenting the carpark every Sunday morning for their weekly car wash. Under the Public Utilities Regulations, no person shall use water supplied by the Board to wash any vehicle using a hose, pipe or any other appliance attached to a water tap or a draw-off point. This excludes the water taps at designated car washing areas. Any person who violates this regulation is guilty of wasting water and that's a chargeable offence. While this is not the first time a driver was caught using a fire hose reel to wash their car, it is an incredibly inconsiderate act and a waste of precious resources intended for actual emergencies. Netizens’ reactions TBH, as much as the driver wants to cut costs, she should use the designated car washing bays instead. These areas are equipped with proper water dispensers and hoses, and some carparks even have a Car Care System machine, which comes with a high-pressure water jet and a vacuum cleaner. If she can afford to have a Mercedes e250, surely she can afford a couple of dollars for a proper car wash. -

Ridiculously hilarious footage shows a foreign worker attempting to help his friend navigate their Toyota Dyna out of a parallel parking lot, only for it to end up hitting the vehicle behind them. This incident occurred on Tuesday (July 20) at Upper Weld Road, located in Little India. The minute-long clip starts with the lorry suddenly jerking forward before reversing in a comical attempt to get out of the parking lot. Due to the jerky reversing, the vehicle could not swing out as intended. Trying to help his friend, the foreign worker sitting in the passenger seat alights the lorry and acts as a manual guide while the vehicle continues to reverse in the tight space. As the Toyota Dyna gets closer to the black vehicle in the parking lot behind it, the vehicle commander gestures for his friend to stop reversing. However, his friend does not seem to notice his signal and continues reversing. The lorry inevitably hits the bonnet of the black car behind as the foreign worker grabs the back of it to prevent further damage. The whole ordeal felt like a cartoon act as the driver successfully leaves the lot, almost forgetting to let his vehicle commander friend back onto the vehicle. Update: According to Stomp, the police are currently investigating this incident after the camcar driver lodged a report on that same day. The cyclist was also speculated to be a tennis coach, according to a friend of the passenger in the vehicle. A cam car was on the receiving end of dirty looks and something 'extra' when it stopped after the stop line at a traffic junction. The incident occurred last Thursday morning (8 July) along River Valley Road, just as most Singaporeans were on their way to work. The short video shows a lady shooting weird looks at the cam car. As to why the footage paused on her, I'm not too sure. She's kind of pretty I guess? As the video continues, it shows a frustrated Ang Moh cyclist expunging his human slobber from his mouth onto the car. Similar to the lady before, this was also pretty........ pretty disgusting! According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), spitting in public is an offence and carries a hefty fine of $1,000. On top of that, it is extremely inconsiderate and insensitive, given the fact that we are in the middle of a pandemic. A driver was caught reversing dangerously along Braddell Road with a moderate amount of traffic. It's insane! I know! The incident took place yesterday (July 6) at 3pm (which is around the time when traffic starts to pick up at that area). A red Honda Fit having missed the initial exit leading towards Lorong Chuan/CTE(SLE) along Braddell Road (see map to see where we think this happened), stops in the middle of the road with total disregard of the motorist behind it. As the video progresses, you realise that it's slowly reversing and stopping every few seconds to avoid crashing into other drivers. Even heavy vehicles had to stop and switch lanes when they noticed what the driver was doing. Who is this mad driver? According to eyewitnesses, the driver was a lady who appeared to be in a rush towards her destination. This was incredibly hard to watch and it's a miracle that she managed to get away with it. Netizens’ reactions According to the Driver Improvement Points System (DIPS), reversing unnecessarily on roadways is a serious offence. The driver was driving along Geylang Lorong 17 on Saturday night (June 26). He stopped at a crossing to let pedestrians cross the road when a middle-aged man suddenly walked up to his vehicle and gave it a hard kick. In the video, the man can be heard engaging in a confrontation with the driver after kicking the vehicle. The driver even reverses the car to ask the man 'what the problem was'. According to the driver, he had no relations with the man and that there was nothing before the incident that could have explained the unprovoked attack. Drunk or Drugs? Suspecting that he was either drunk or on drugs, the driver wanted to call the police on the spot, but he was faced with taunts from the man, who claimed that the police knew 'who he was'. Towards the end of the video, as the driver can be heard angrily complaining to his passenger about the incident. Although he could not find the culprit afterwards, the driver stated that he has already made a police report regarding the incident and alerted other drivers who frequent the area as well. Netizens' reactions Many netizens managed to joke about the situation, with some encouraging the driver to leave the 'crazy' or 'drunk' man alone to prevent a bigger accident in the future.
