  1. Check the experience this guy has below: http://www.my-acoustic.com/Car/TITAN/titan.htm Also check the Titan website: http://www.titanabsorber.com/indexs1.htm It looks like they "custom make" the suspension springs, dampers and even coilovers for cars!
  2. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows where I can find aftermarket shock absorber for Mazda 323? The original spare part shops don't carry gas shocks. They only have the hydraulic ones which spoils easily. My mileage is 60,000KM and it's spoilt liao. I've checked KYB singapore dealers and they do carry it in Singapore, but strangely, I can't find it in their malaysian dealers. Any other alternatives anyone would suggest or recommend? Maybe I'll check out Monroe later..... Unfortunately, this part is too big, otherwise, I'll bring it to msia for replacement. Coz if the msian customs see it, they'll surely want to tax me on it. Thanks
  3. Hi, I am considering to change my car shock absorbers to Monroe Sensatrac. Can anyone who has done this before share their experiences here. In particular, does it improve the ride comfort of the car noticeably. My curent car (Nissan Sunny N16) with original shock absorbers is too firm over most roads, with a constant fidget over uneven roads and bumps. Thanks.
  4. Can anyone recommend me a place that I can change my s/a. I am driving a 01 lancer cedia. Can you also tell me what is the cost? Thanks
  5. Hi haven't posted here for a while. I just had my ride serviced(2000 Accent 1.5l(M))at Komoco they reported that my S/Absorbers r harden not to mention worn out front tyres(stock). Wonder if any of you could advise on 1)the S/Absorbers ie change? what type?(or have to stick to stock)and How much? 2)Worn out front tyres. Is it necessary to change all 4 or just 2? What would be a good tyre to change to, where and how much?
  6. recently my car signal light bit sian liao. As when my car door is open while the engine is still runing, the hazard warning (both left n right signal light) will auto on and blink for few sec. 8. Hi all, would like to know the 3 years warranty cover the shock absorber. Found some oil leak at the left rear s.absorber and some noise over hump. cheers & Merry X'mas to all.
  9. Twin tube vs MonoTube (from Bilstein website http://www.bilstein.com/products/basics.html) Twin Tube This principle of reducing the vibration through friction is still valid today. Today's automobile must meet stringent requirements than its predecessors, the shock absorber has become an extremely important component in motor vehicles. The twin tube shock absorber consists of two tubes. The inner tube is the pressure tube where the energy conversion occurs (kinetic energy converted through friction into thermal energy). The outer tube, sometimes called the compensation chamber, contains the reserve chamber which fulfills an important role. Oil is displaced within the inner tube by movement of the piston rod. The displaced oil enters the reserve chamber through the back pressure valve. With the piston rod moving upwards, the oil is again sucked into the working chamber. Monotube (Gas) Such a compensation chamber is necessary on the Monotube type of shock absorber. The technology applied here has a number of considerable advantages. The expression "Gas Pressure" Shock Absorber often leads to the assumption that this shock absorber only contains gas. However the actual damping occurs within a column of oil. The dividing piston separates the oil chamber from the gas chamber. The oil chamber contains a special hydraulic oil, and the gas chamber contains nitrogen, at a pressure of approx. 25 bar (approx. 350 psi) Gas chamber function: enables the dividing piston to move further towards the gas chamber, thus reducing its size. When the piston rod is returned, the oil chamber becomes larger and the compressed gas cushion presses the dividing piston back into its start position. The high pressure in the gas chamber is transmitted by the dividing piston onto the column of oil and prevents the oil from foaming. Therefore optimum damping performance is achieved under all operating conditions.
