  4. This poll is raised due to a few encounters with the same driver who was driving recklessly. I seriously am considering if i should report him. I met this grey honda city(i-dsi) on the road again. Changing lanes in heavy rain WITHOUT signals and no checking of blind spots at >90km/h, BKE towards Woodlands. The issue is not whether he should suffer a penalty for reckless driving. The objective is to gather socially accepted opinions on attitude towards such drivers. I have seen fellow bros kanna a lot of lagi dangerous drivers whom after losing a century sprint, purposely e-brake in front of you. Did you guys actually report those guys?

  6. Hi Benny, I intend to use a 2000 grit sandpaper to sand down a deep scratch on my bonnet so I'm looking for a polishing compound and a sealant to finish off the job by hand without machine. Most recommended Meguiars for those specific jobs but I'm having a difficult time finding them. I did a quick search and found your Duragloss to be of high quality too. As I'm not a car enthusiast so I'm rather confused with most car detailing products including the extensive range of Duragloss products. Can you tell me which is the Duragloss polishing compound and sealant that best suit the job that I intend to work on? Appreciate your help. Click below YouTube for a better understanding of the work that I need to do.
  7. My car just turned 3 years this month. Not sure if i should continue with C&C or try other workshop for servicing. Any recommendations? Thanks.

  10. It feature a 0.9Liter straight-3 engine with output of 90 bhp and 135 nm of torque Just that maybe the COE now may cost this car over 100k+ , if not this car is worth it , as it has only a 0.9liter engine = low tax 90bhp and 135nm of torque = enough to drive around Singapore road and i bet it's more fuel saving then a Honda Fit but not a prius.
  11. Considering the amount of united nations I have done here, I should be no 260 [laugh] Record 259 nominees for 2013 Nobel Peace Prize Posted: 04 March 2013 1849 hrs The Nobel Prize ceremony 2011 in Stockholm. (AFP/Anders Wiklunch) OSLO: A record 259 nominees are in the running for this year's Nobel Peace Prize -- 209 individuals and 50 organisations -- with the laureate to be announced in October, the Nobel Institute said on Monday. The list is known to include Malala Yousafzai, the shot Pakistani schoolgirl-turned-icon of Taliban resistance, ex-Eastern bloc activists, and former US president Bill Clinton. "The trend is upward, not every year but almost," the head of the Nobel Institute, Geir Lundestad, said. "This reflects a growing interest for the prize. The nominations come from the entire world," he said. The previous record dates back to 2011 when 241 candidates were nominated. The list of nominees is kept secret for 50 years. But thousands of people are eligible to nominate candidates -- including former laureates, members of parliament and government around the world, some university professors, and members of certain international organisations -- and they can reveal the names they have put forward. As a result, it is known that Malala and Clinton are nominated, as well as Russian human rights organisation Memorial and Myanmar's reformist President Thein Sein. The deadline to submit nominations closed on February 1. The five-member Norwegian Nobel Committee will announce its choice in early October, and the prize will be awarded, as tradition dictates, on December 10, the anniversary of the death in 1896 of the Nobel Prizes' founder, philanthropist Alfred Nobel. Last year, the prestigious honour went to the European Union, a highly controversial choice as the bloc struggles through its worst crisis since its creation. "There's no doubt that the choice of laureates in recent years has contributed to the increasing attention" on the award, Lundestad acknowledged. In 2009, the prize also made waves when US President Barack Obama received the nod just months after he took office and as the US was fighting two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. -AFP/ac
  12. This may be a redundant question, but what would your opinion be on this matter? A 2.4L camry makes about 160hp. Quite a poor figure as opposed to Honda's average 160hp 2.0L K20A3/K20Z2 engines that we see on BnB Accords and Civics. A 1.6L 20V Blacktop/Silvertop 4AGE could easily make 160-170hp right out of the box with lots of room to spare. It also weighs considerably less than most engines today. If they updated their Blacktop/Silvertop engine to 2.0L in displacement, the engine could push out about 260+hp if they use better intake/exhaust ports and newer VVTi. That would be close to Evo territory and keep in mind, all of this while still being NA. If fitted onto their upcoming upcoming Supra (FT-HS) with a small turbo, then nb can reach 400hp minimum liao
  13. From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-...llowed-20130301 CHILDCARE CENTRES Should sick kids be allowed in? Published on Mar 01, 2013 MY HUSBAND and I heard from our friends that children sent to childcare centres tend to fall ill frequently, at least in the initial months. As first-time parents, we are concerned and anxious about sending our daughter to a childcare centre. We visited three centres and inquired about their guidelines on admitting children who are unwell. All three centres said they would admit a sick child as long as he does not run a fever higher than 38 deg C. The child would be admitted even if he were having a runny nose or cough, or on medication such as antibiotics. The centres said they were running a business; if they adhered to the Government's "grey" guidelines and barred a sick child from class, working parents would be upset. They would then remove their children from the centres and put them in more "tolerant" centres. We were appalled to hear this. Wouldn't everyone benefit if parents and centres practised social responsibility by not allowing a sick child into the class, where he might spread the illness to other children? Aren't parents granted childcare leave to look after their sick children? I hope to hear from the relevant authorities on the health guidelines for childcare centres. Helen Chong Xu Rong (Ms)
  14. Since last year, I have been noticing the trucks and lorries speeding and zapping on roads. Whether you are driving Volvo or hummer, if one of these giant kiss you, there are slim chance of walking out alive. Do you agree that all should be fitted with speed limiting device, which only allow at 50 - 60KMH?

  16. Retired midfielder Paul Scholols believes Wayne Rooney would be a fantastic addition to Tottenham Hotspur. Daniel Levy this week hinted that Sir Harry Redknapp is still hoping to bring one more player to the club this summer. Top of his wish-list is believed to be a striker following the poor form of Spurs Crouch, Teck-Foe and Pav. Names that regularly been touted are that of Inter Milan's Eto or former Arsenal's Adebayor, but Schools says Rooney would be a better bet. "The ones who have been linked all look like they are capable of playing for Spurs," he told the Manchester Evening News. "[They] are all great top players. Of the three Rooney, when we've played against him during training, has been the one I have been most impressed with. "Whenever we played Manure in training, he was the one who stood out." The future of Roonmey continues to remain uncertain, with Liverpool already having two bids for the England international rejected by Man Utd who say they don't want to sell. That's despite the player stating he wants to move to the Liverpool stadium and handing in a transfer request.
  17. Last weekend i nearly had a accident. I was driving along west coast road....there is this section where the 2-lane road merges into 1 lane. I was driving along this section with no cars in front of me or beside me. As the lanes merge into 1, this bmw 3 series sped past me. The roads where narrowing and he sped past me with only inches to spare between our cars. I was taken aback. Just a few more centimeters and his car would have scraped the entire left side of my car. I strucked my horn. It was a quick tap (defintely not a loud one) and then he immedately jam braked. Forturnately, my speed was low enough for me to break in time. I was really furious. We then both continued to drive on. Just less than a minute later, this bmw stopped at the traffic light. I stopped by his left. I raised my hand and mouth "whats this !?!". He wound down his window and i did likewise. He had 2 children and wife with him. I immediately asked "do you know you nearly hit my car?" He: So? Sue me la...(smiling non stop) I: I was infront and cant you wait a few seconds? He: So? I like wat (smiling). I: F you la... He: So? My driving style wat....he continued laughing and smiling. I was very furious. No matter what i said, he will continue to smile at me, thinking he was "won". I turned to his primary school daughter and said, "you look very ugly, you need to do some plastic surgery otherwise no guy will ever like you. This time, he was furious and hurled vulgarities back at me non stop. Asking me to come down. I smiled and drove off. Even though i should be sorry but i am not.
  18. Now he also chup motor insurance liao? Anyway a good reminder article nonetheless Just doubt the relevant folks would listen... From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-...claims-20121113 Motor insurers should tackle root causes of inflated claims Published on Nov 13, 2012 ACCORDING to the General Insurance Association of Singapore, regulations introduced in May last year require motorists making property damage claims to give other motorists or their insurers the opportunity to inspect the damage to the vehicles before repairs are undertaken ("Pre-repair inspection rule for accident vehicles"; last Friday). The association should state the percentage of third-party claims that follow this regulation. Anecdotal evidence indicates that payments for third-party damages continue to be high, contributing to hefty motor insurance premiums. Also, are a significant proportion of these claims made through lawyers, and do their fees add to the cost of the claims? Perhaps the insurer paying the claim should also be given the opportunity to settle it without the need to incur legal fees. The requirement to report directly to the paying insurer should be made mandatory by law, rather than being a non-binding regulation by the insurance industry. This will be more effective in addressing the exorbitant cost of third-party claims. In my consulting work in the region, I know that the cost of motor repairs in Singapore is several times that in neighbouring countries. While this can be partly explained by the higher cost of doing business here, the scale of the difference indicates that there are other contributing factors. The motor insurance industry should address the root causes of inflated claims and bring relief to consumers, who now continue to suffer increases in premiums. 20. Kindergarten teacher charged with ill-treating child Published on Aug 29, 2012177 697 1 Purchase this article for republicationBuy SPH photos By Elena Chong A former PAP Community Foundation (PCF) teacher was charged in court on Wednesday with ill-treating a child and using criminal force on her. 21. As per topic. Any one want to share their view? Personally, I witness one lorry tire burst in front of me this morning. The lorry just serve to the left and enter road shoulder. Down the road, another poor regroove tyre lying on the road. Is the standard of regroove tyre bad or we shouldn't even looking at regrooving tyres?
  22. I am intending to buy a new car. But due to sky rocketting prices, i am left with little choice. My initial idea was to get a second hand car but the fear of being cheated changed my mind. Hence i decided to commit more of my hard earned money into getting a new car. I read so many reviews about various cars...slowly eliminating my choices. Now i am left with 2 choices which i hope some of you can help me. Perhaps you may have experience driving these cars. 1st Car - Kia Koup - $110k - 124 bhp - sexy curves - fierce looking - korean reliability 2nd Car - Mini Cooper - $145k - 120 bhp - iconic - good handling - heard consumption no good I have test drove these 2 car. I like both....and i cant decide which. Can anyone share their views? I told my wife that since i cant decide, i shall MCF decide for me... She say i am crazy but agreed since she think i am a indecisive man. haha.... I am so excited about getting a new car!!
  23. The main reason being we've got a baby coming. I was thinking of S3 initially but the maintanance would be horendous if the DSG fail. So should I change to a Caldina??? Its got all the ticks for the 2nd car criteria. 1) 4 cyclinder = cheaper registration and should have better fuel consumption 2) 2L = same as above 3) AWD 4) Cheap to maintain 5) 5 Door + wagon 6) Looks ok at least not like Stagea so boxy 7) Turbo. At least still got a bit of go to it. Caldina 2003 Opinion people?
  24. Not sure if it is already the case and not trying to be racist. Just stating the obvious that road conditions and driving culture here are different from road conditions and culture elsewhere. Maybe in other countries weaving around a dozen pedestrains at 50km is considered skillful but here it is dangerous driving.
