  2. My ride is coming to 3 years, and that also means the 3 years warranty will expire. I was offered a 2 years warranty extension at $1188. I'm seriously contemplating taking up the offer, and keeping the car for another 2 years. Only catch is for the warranty to be effected, all servicing must be done at the AD workshop. Anyone sign up for extended warranty and think it's worth the $$?
  3. From MSN news: China's Geely set to sign Volvo takeover Chinese carmaker Zhejiang Geely Holding is set to imminently seal a deal to buy troubled Volvo from US auto giant as Volvo unions Saturday gave a thumbs up following earlier fears of job losses. If there are no 11th-hour glitches, the signing will take place on Sunday afternoon when a press conference is scheduled or on Monday, a Volvo spokesman told AFP. "A press conference has been scheduled for Sunday afternoon with officials from Ford and Geely but this does not mean that it will be signed on Sunday, it could be Monday," Per-Aake Froeberg said Saturday. The deal will be signed by Ford's chief financial officer Lewis Booth and Geely chairman Li Shufu at Volvo's headquarters in Torslanda in the country's south. Volvo unions had earlier voiced opposition to the deal on grounds that it was vague on expansion plans and possible layoffs. Three Volvo unions this week pressed for details "on the capital that will finance Volvo's daily activities, investment on future projects and the production target of 600,000 vehicles by 2015." But on Saturday they pronounced themselves satisfied. "We have received all the information that we were looking for," Glenn Magnusson, head of the Ledarnas union, told Sweden's TT news agency after two meetings with US-based Ford and Geely management in Gothenburg on Saturday. "As far as the unions are concerned, we are in favour of the agreement." Magnusson did not provide details on the talks with management, saying he and his colleagues from other unions had signed a confidentiality agreement. Asked whether the Chinese company had given a guarantee that jobs would remain in Sweden, Magnusson said, "we have obtained a response to our questions." Volvo has 22,000 employees worldwide, including 16,000 in Sweden. Ford Motor Company announced in December that it had agreed on the main terms of the sale of its loss-making Swedish subsidiary Volvo Cars to Geely, one of China's largest private automakers, for a reported two billion dollars. If completed, the deal will bring to an end Ford's decade-long association with the premium Swedish brand, known for its sturdy, family-friendly cars. Ford had said it anticipated "a definitive sale agreement will be signed in the first quarter of 2010, subject to appropriate regulatory approvals". Geely reportedly secured the financing needed for the purchase earlier this month, which the Financial Times valued at about 1.8 billion dollars. The newspaper said more than a billion would be loaned by the European Investment Bank and the Swedish and Belgian governments. The Swedish media had questioned the ability of Geely, a relatively young player, to finance the takeover. The deal was a "leap in the dark," said the Dagens Nyheter newspaper, the day after the accord was announced. But Svenska Dagbladet said Saturday that Geely's chairman had given guarantees that all research and development activities would remain in Sweden and that production would first be assured by plants in Sweden. Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping is due in Sweden this weekend but according to the Volvo spokesman, there are no plans for him at the moment to visit the company headquarters. Geely boss Li earlier told China's Xinhua news agency that the Volvo bid was related to a "new energy powered vehicle," which he described as "the future of the world's auto industry. If the deal succeeds, nothing will change for Volvo, except the boss turns to Li Shufu," Li said. "Volvo and Geely will be two independently-managed brands." Regards,

  7. they call me up after i register. i found out that when they advert 'pay only in aug 2010', it is no entirely free until aug 2010, there is the 1x installation charge of $50, then there is the rental fee of $29/3months, ie. ~$9.00/month. So average out total cost til aug 2010 over 9 months , 1 month paying $15 til aug 2010 for euro champions league watching and some other sports... from aug 2010 onwards, it will be the package fee of $27 + $9 for rental fee = $36/month for epl and champ league what u guys think of the charges? worth it to sign now and pay $15/month just for champ league? anyway i now already got starhub, when new nroke singtel won, i was like !@#$%E^&U&! i told my wife we spent wkends making babies rather than get blackmail over football [laugh]

  18. Something to end the night:-) Have a safe trip to those making a trip to Msia. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A 60-YEAR-OLD woman was so enraged by a taxi driver showing her an obscene sign, she planted herself in front of his taxi. Madam Lee Geok Hiok, a cleaner, was parking her car along the road behind People's Park Centre at 11.30pm on Tuesday when the taxi driver sounded his horn. She said: 'I gestured to him to wait and he made this rude sign with his finger.' She marched to his stationary taxi, opened the driver's door and asked him why he showed her the bad sign. 'He tried to deny doing so but then apologised,' she said. She called the police and held onto the door to prevent him from driving off. When he moved his taxi forward, she fell onto the road, bruising her right knee. When the taxi was about to exit from Havelock Square, the feisty woman stood in its way in front of the Family and Juvenile Court. The taxi then reversed and sped pass her. Police arrived soon and interviewed her and several witnesses. In April last year, financial adviser Alex Lim, 30, died after he stood in front of the taxi driven by 68-year-old Lee Yuet Kong along Scotts Road. Mr Lim wanted to get Lee's particulars after a minor collision but Lee drove away, throwing him onto the bonnet. When the cab braked abruptly, Mr Lim fell backwards and hit his head on the road. He died a month later in hospital. Lee was jailed for a year and banned from driving for life for reckless driving.

  20. Have read a number of similar cases over here where by both parties dispute after sex and one party, usually the guy would end up in trouble. But if such contract were introduced, then making love is like business dealing, strange isn't it?? http://www.asiaone.com/News/Latest%2BNews/...0406-58257.html MP wants women to sign sex contract SHOULD men get their partners to sign a 'contract' before sex to protect them from being falsely accused of rape? -TNP Sun, Apr 06, 2008 The New Paper SHOULD men get their partners to sign a 'contract' before sex to protect them from being falsely accused of rape? That is what South Australian MP Ann Bressington suggested yesterday. The Independent MP said this in response to proposed laws that would make an offence for someone to continue having sex with a person if that person changes his or her mind, reported The Australian. She said that men needed to be protected from those laws. She said in parliament: 'Perhaps this parliament could devise a contract which men could carry around in their pocket, next to their condoms. 'The contract may contain the name and address of the women... clauses that state that the woman has or has not been drinking or taking drugs... and that she consents to foreplay.' When quizzed further about the contract idea on ABC radio yesterday morning, she said she was serious because it would prevent men from being falsely accused. Other MPs, however, support the proposed change in the law. Independent MP Kris Hanna told ABC News : 'I've been pushing for this law reform for five years.' He said: 'We (wanted to) overcome men being able to get off by saying, 'I believed that she consented' when in fact it was preposterous to believe that in the circumstances, like the woman was asleep or unconscious through drinking or whatever.
