  1. TL;DR - A reckless Rolls Royce Cullinan driver puts lives in danger by driving against the traffic flow to skip the long queue. The incident highlights the importance of responsible driving, regardless of the price tag on your car. The sight of a luxurious car is always something to behold, and the Rolls Royce Cullinan is no exception. With a price tag that can reach up to millions of dollars, this SUV is the epitome of opulence and style. However, as the saying goes, "With great power comes great responsibility.". Unfortunately, not everyone seems to understand this, as seen in a recent incident captured on video outside Hwa Chong International School. What happened? In the video, a Rolls Royce Cullinan can be seen driving recklessly, cutting through the long queue of cars by driving against the traffic flow. It was raining heavily then, making the situation even more dangerous. As impressive as the car may be, the driver's behaviour is irresponsible and dangerous. No matter how much one pays for a car, there is no excuse for driving recklessly. The safety of other road users should always be a top priority. It is worth noting that driving or riding against the flow of traffic, as indicated by traffic signs, will get you 6-demerit points with a $200 fine. 2. TL;DR – A Toyota Allion hits the brakes and hazard lights just before an ERP gantry. Netizens try to rationalise this selfish and entitled behaviour. With ERPs back in operation, it is no surprise to see incidents like this occurring. For example, the ERP gantry along the AYE just before or after the Celemti Ave 6 exit. Back when I lived in the West (for a short time), I would always see cars and motorbikes parked near the bus stop or road shoulder to avoid paying the ERP toll. Today’s incident might be a little different, maybe? Let’s watch the minute-long video and find out your opinion. What happened? A Toyota Allion hits the brakes and its hazard lights just before entering an ERP gantry along the PIE at the Mount Pleasant exit. The cam car directly behind the Allion is having none of it, and after blasting two words in Hokkien (hint it involves the female genitalia), he doesn’t hide his displeasure with a long, angry horn. Did the Allion try to evade the toll? I decided to do some research. Honestly, it’s peanuts compared to some ERP gantries closer to or in town. But I digress. Let’s have a look at the time indicated on the gantry in question. It’s 8.41 at $1.00. Yes, the next time period would be $0.50, but do you think the driver is doing that to evade paying $0.50? Is the answer obvious yet? With the facts in front of us, I think it’s highly likely a case of ‘forgot to put the cashcard in the IU'. The charge is $10. I kena before. That being said, I agree that what the Allion did was dangerous for vehicles directly behind it. But the cam car driver could have practiced more patience. He just sounds like a grouch. Online Chatter There are of course people who think it was very inconsiderate and dangerous. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. TL;DR – A Mitsubishi Lancer and a Volkswagen Scirocco were caught on camera speeding along the CTE and overtaking other vehicles using the road shoulder. Unfortunately for one of the two idiots, one of them hit a BMW X3 in the process and went full turtle, causing a 2-hour long jam in its wake. Lancerlution – It’s the term people use to refer to Mitsubishi Lancers trying their best to be EVOs (like this gum gong gia or a Lancer driver) Multiple angles of this incident found itself uploaded on SGRV’s FB page. Watch it all below: VIDEO 1 VIDEO 2 What happened? In the first video you can see the close up of the accident. The cam car is very lucky to have avoided the repercussions of the Lancer and Roc driver’s stupidity. In the second video you can see the build up leading up to the accident + the footage from the first video + some aftermath shots. Online Chatter Is that a fact? Good control but bad luck. I actually did not catch that! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  4. TL;DR = A Nissan NV200 speeds on the wet road, loses control, hits the side railings and overturns on the CTE The speed limit for goods vehicles on expressways is 70km/h. There’s no way that this van was adhering to said speed limit. Watch the minute-and-a-half-long video to see what I mean: What happened At about 0.02, you can see that the van swerves to avoid a car in front of it. Doing so sends the van out of control on the wet road (it’s raining, by the way). It then proceeds to hit the side railings before overturning dramatically on the CTE. A recipe for disaster I have no idea what the driver was thinking. It was raining, and the ground was wet. Visibility could not have been that great. The speed limit for goods vehicles is 70km/h. All the conditions listed above perfectly line up; just waiting for an accident to happen. And true enough, it did! Online Chatter This commenter has a point. Most comments feel that the van driver deserved this. There were some sparks when the van overturned though. Ya lor. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  5. TL;DR – A Honda Fit turns right onto oncoming traffic and casually makes an illegal U-turn straight after. It’s not every day you get to see a small hatchback like a Honda Fit make a super-wide U-turn. How wide, you ask? Like driving against oncoming traffic before making an illegal U-turn kind of wide. Watch the 31-second video to find out what I mean. What happened It all begins at a discretionary right turn at a cross junction, location unidentifiable (if you know where this is, do let me know in the comments section below). A Honda Fit makes the turn but accidentally turns into oncoming traffic. While most drivers would hit that panic button at this point, this Fit driver calmly makes an illegal U-turn, cool as a cucumber. A very expensive u-turn As noted in the caption of the post in Roads.SG's Facebook page: But there are some other considerations as well: Driving without due care or reasonable consideration for other road users – 9 demerit points and $300 fine Reckless or dangerous driving – 24 demerit points and prosecution in court Personally, it feels like an accident, and the driver made a calm and composed decision to rectify the mistake as soon as it was safe to do so. But as always, let’s see what netizens think. Online Chatter Hmm. Doesn’t seem like it though. That's quite funny. Is this comment targeted at the driver, or the comments flaming the driver? I'm confused. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  6. TL;DR – A Toyota Wish with p-plates dangerously cuts in front of a cam car, beats the red light and almost gets t-boned by another car There’s a reason why car insurance companies charge a premium for new drivers. This 62-second video is one of the reasons: What happened? The video starts off by highlighting the exciting bits (think that’s the format SGRV is going for these days). A Toyota Wish dangerously cuts in front of the cam car and it looks like it’s a very tight pocket of space too. But, that’s not all, the Wish then blatantly beats the red light too! Which then also results in another car almost t-boning it. The heck is wrong with this driver? How many demerit points? Let’s count the number of demerit points this new driver racked up shall we? Failing to conform to traffic signals – 12 points Reckless or dangerous driving (where no hurt is caused) – 24 points Stats taken from: https://sso.agc.gov.sg/ - it's legit That’s a whopping 36 points! There are some people who commented that new drivers now only have 12 points to lose instead of the 13 I had in my time (I’m old dammit). But, even so, 36 is way past 12 or 13! Online Chatter Important to note that whether hurt or no hurt was caused, it’s a straight 24-point deduction. With hurt could include a higher fine or possibly jail time. This driver needs to get a call from Singapore Traffic Police and think about his/her actions for the next two years before being allowed to retake a new license. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 7. TL;DR - A Hyundai Tucson reverses into a stationary car at the traffic lights along Esplanade Drive. Plot twist; the Tucson is a Singapore Police Force vehicle. A video of a Singapore Police Force Hyundai Tucson reversing into another car has surfaced on SGRV’s Facebook page. Since its posting around midnight, it has garnered a whopping 203 shares. Watch the 53-second video here: What happening? Image: Hyundai.com.sg The driver of the latest Police fast response Hyundai Tucson does a serious booboo. As mentioned earlier, the cam car and the Tucson stop at a traffic light. However, in a strange turn of events, the Tucson reverses and hits the front of the cam car. I think the Police officer wanted to turn right instead of going straight and did not check his blind spots or rear-view mirror. Does this place look familiar? If you’re unsure of where this takes place, here’s a rough idea of where I think this incident happened. It should be at this junction highlighted above. Another interesting thing After the ‘collision’, the red and blue lights on the Police vehicle suddenly light up. Not sure why. Pretty strange. But one Netizen had a theory. Online Chatter Let’s look at other interesting comments. These comments don’t fail to disappoint. Well, suffice to say, the Police Officer is definitely BBQ-le. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 8. TL;DR – We see seven vehicles involved In yet another massive chain collision on the PIE. Footage of the aftermath shows a Harrier resting on top of a Prius. The first half of the day saw many news reports and posts about this accident that happened along lane 1 of the PIE. Channel News Asia The Straits Times Tik Tok You can watch the vido of the aftermath on Tik Tok. Facebook Or you can watch it on Facebook (courtesy of Roads.SG) 7 Vehicles involved Besides the obvious Toyota Harrier sitting on top of the Toyota Prius, we also spot 2 Honda Vezels, a Strides Taxi, a blueSG car and what seems to be an Audi A3. How the Harrier ended on top of the Prius is definitely a huge question mark for everyone. Hopefully, someone will post the footage of the actual accident soon and I’ll update the article. Injuries and arrests It’s reported that five people were injured, two of which were sent to the hospital while the other three declined to go to the hospital. Additionally, a 38-year-old man was arrested for suspected drink driving (Source: The Straits Times) Online Chatter I think you drive anywhere also there’s always a chance of an accident occurring. Always keep a safe distance from the car in front of you and look out for idiot drivers. This person might have a point somewhere. I would like to know as well. blueSG, care to comment? I try to steer clear away from blueSG cars when I see them on the road. Not all of them, but most of them drive like they don’t want to see tomorrow. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 9. TL;DR – A couple in a Honda Vezel has been caught on video necking and kissing while driving on the road. Couples need to do what couples need to do. I certainly have no issue with couples kissing or showing public displays of affection out in the open. But, if it poses as a potential road hazard and endangers other people, that’s where lines should be drawn. Watch the 39-second video here: I thought it was something else Initially, I thought the silhouette on the left was a dog. LOL It looked like a Shit Tzu or something Image: Wikipedia But, upon closer inspection, turns out, it was a woman! Remember what a certain someone said? Remember that one minister who said “You need a very small space to have s#$”? Image: Wikipedia But this couple taking it way too far. I mean, who does that? Kena accident how? Imagine what would you have to write on your accident report. Online Chatter Wah! That would be messed up. 15-minutes also cannot wait. 10. TL;DR – A Toyota Vellfire taxi driver slaps and flings a lady onto the ground for kicking his car and breaking his side mirror. It’s been a while since we’ve had video footage of some serious road drama. Today’s incident definitely takes the cake. Watch the minute-long viral video here: What happened prior to the video? It is unclear from the caption as to what occurred before the video was recorded. But there must have been an inciting incident for this to take place. The lady can be seen ‘flipping the bird’ or ‘pointing the middle finger’ at the taxi driver at the start of the video. The taxi driver keeps his cool and starts driving off. The lady, however, decides to take a cheap shot at the Vellfire and gives it a kick. Unable to control his temper any further, the taxi driver comes out of the car and proceeds to give her one tight slap. Fight! Fight! Fight! Well, if you can call that a fight. It seems pretty one sided If you ask me. Eh! That’s not cool lady! The fight is with the taxi driver. Why did the woman have to go and destroy the Vellfire’s side mirror? What did the Vellfire do to you ah? Shit ton of online chatter This incident is exploding all over social media. The amount of comments to choose from to feature is insane. Even an animal would attack the taxi driver and not the Vellfire. Agreed. Yes. I was brought up to always respect a woman and never hit a woman. But I think that there should be a rule that “women should not kick a man’s car” as well. I would donate too. But I can only afford a $5 donation. Seems to me like a majority of the comments are very ‘pro taxi driver’. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 11. TL;DR – Huge truck crashes into two moving vehicles at the junction between Robinson Road and Maccallum Street. Turns out it was all part of a shoot for a Korean drama. When I first saw this video uploaded on SGRV’s Facebook page, I must admit that I was pretty shaken up. Here’s the video if you haven’t already seen it: Wrecked In the video (at about the 10-second mark), a dump truck appears from the left and T-bones two cars that managed to ‘siam’ the red light at the junction. It’s all part of a filming event While viewers like me were left stunned at this incident and shared it on social media and in various group chats, the truth came to light. This was all part of a shoot for a Korean drama! Thanks, AsiaOne, for shedding some light on what happened. Excerpts taken from AsiaOne's article The Korean Drama in question The AsiaOne article goes on to explain that this was a shoot for a scene in Little Women, starring Kim Go-eun and Wi Ha-jun Image: Wi Ha Joon, Kim Go Eun Official Instagram) Little Women is expected to premiere on Netflix sometime next month. Online Chatter While some people were in the know... There were others who, like me, were clueless and thought this was real. And of course, some people wasted no time in having a dig at cyclists, which did not correlate this incident at all. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 12. TL;DR – A driver of a Rolls Royce Phantom holds up traffic in Tiong Bahru because he was unwilling to scratch his car on a BMW X5 parked ever so slightly out of its lot. Hi all! Just a quick one today before I leave the office. This one is too juicy not to share. This video has gained 41k views in just 1-hour after uploading it on Facebook. That’s insane. Let’s watch the 57-second video here. Are you an idiot, sir? The video begins with the person recording the video asking the Rolls Royce driver whether he’s an idiot. It really looks like there’s more than enough space tbh. The BMW is parked just ever so slightly off the line. If kena, you pay? To which the driver of the Rolls retorts: A Caucasian lady attempts to diffuse the situation by asking him calmly to move his car closer to see whether he can clear the ‘tight’ space. But he says that he wants the selfish ‘b**tard’ of the X5 to come and move the car instead of him moving. Isn’t he being selfish too? There’s clearly enough space! Online Chatter Lots of commenters think the car isn’t his. I’m leaning towards that too! ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  13. TL:DR – Two taxi drivers get into a semi-heated argument because one of them was waiting at a pickup/drop off zone, impeding the other taxi driver from moving off. What do you do at a pickup/drop off zone? Pick up passengers or drop them off. Simple. But a taxi driver decided to wait there in hopes of getting a passenger. This enraged another taxi driver behind him - Resulting in the following recorded video. Where is this? More than one comment on Facebook claims that this is Rivervale Mall. It looks like a very Hougang/Sengkang setting, but I could be wrong. Hokkien conversations Okay, so my Hokkien is not the best but let’s try and translate bits and pieces of the conversation. Blue taxi uncle: Seems like an old man. Can’t really hear what he’s saying. Which is his main point of argument throughout the whole video. Did I hear Thai 😍? A Thai lady (based on her accent) filmed the whole incident and even offered to give her own suggestions on how to diffuse the situation. I haven’t heard that accent in a while. I’m not excited. Your face is excited. Online Chatter The red taxi driver obviously just wanted to find fault with anyone willing to engage with him. He could have just reversed and gone on his merry way. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 14. TL:DR – A man and a woman engage in an act that requires head bobbing (and tissue) in the driver seat of a van. In broad daylight. For the whole world to see. Remember that whole incident about the couple testing the Volkwagen Golf suspension last year? We have a new 2022 version with a different couple, different vehicle but not as vigorous compared to last year’s incident. Watch the 34-second video here Skills +10000? We do not know how long the lady in the video had been bobbing her head prior to this video. What we do know is that just a mere 7-seconds into the video and the deed is done. Out comes some tissue to clean her hands, her mouth and her partner’s lower region. Is that a public display of some mad skills? Or maybe the man has been cursed with premature…. Why do it in the open when you have a van? There’s a whole closed off compartment at the back of the van where they would have had more discretion. But I guess discretion wasn’t what they were going for. Online Chatter I’m loving some of the comments. People are trying to make up funny excuses as to what the couple were doing. 🔼THIS ONE MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD!🔼 Wah. That’s nasty. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! Simply WhatsApp us ➡️https://bit.ly/3c6JERA
  15. TL:DR – A Mercedes GLA brake checks a cam car driver for high beaming him. Cam car driver’s wife then explodes into a 3-minute lecture and telling off while the tunes of Baby Shark drone on repeat in the background. Poor cam car driver cannot catch a break. We’ve all had bad days in our lives. But what this cam car driver just went through, is a winner. Watch this 6min+ video to find out what I mean. The important bits are from the start to about the 3min 20second mark So let’s list down how the cam car driver’s day gets from bad to worst The domino effect starts with the GLA Rear footage from the cam car shows us a black GLA behind cam car that filters to lane 2 on the KPE, accelerates to overtake cam car and abruptly cuts into cam car’s path. This causes the cam car driver to high beam the GLA. Resulting in a short brake check game. The lecture begins For those who don’t understand Mandarin, I’ve summarized the main points for you. The wife’s point of view The husband deserved it Their kid was in the car Singaporeans don’t like to get high beamed Her husband high-beamed intentionally Her husband was driving too slowly (LOL) The GLA gave ample space before cutting into cam car’s lane The husband’s point of view This is a safety issue The GLA did not signal Their kid was in the car. Not signaling and changing lane is dangerous When we list them out like that, the wife starts to make a very compelling argument. Anyone else feel like this exchange between husband and wife is very relatable to couples out there? Baby Shark Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo This song on repeat is torture. It all ends well, don't worry Kudos to the couple though. You could tell they were angry with one another for awhile but they played it cool and kept their tempers in check. #couplegoals Online Chatter Looking at all these comments, the wife was right! 16. TL;DR – A Toyota Yaris driver makes a wide turn, ends up on opposing lane upsetting a couple of motorcyclists who made gestures at him. Unhappy, the driver confronts them and even takes out a weapon from his car. This incident happened earlier today (2nd August 2021). A road raging Toyota Yaris driver whips out a weapon from his car in anger and it’s all been recorded on video! Here’s the video for your viewing pleasure. What right do you have to be angry sir? At the start of this 94-second video, we see a red Yaris making a wide turn and ending up on the opposing lane. He’s clearly in the wrong from the get go, so what right has he got to be angry? Gangsta uncle The motorcyclist reportedly made a gesture at the Yaris which infuriated the driver. If I’m not wrong, I heard the uncle say To which the biker replies Followed by short inaudible dialogue and a long uncomfortable silent stare down. The motorcyclist in front, presumably a friend tries to step in to defuse the situation. But does that help? Nope. Uncle has a weapon, I repeat, Uncle has a weapon! The uncle goes to his car to take out a weapon. Is that a fishing rod? Maybe it’s a golf club? Someone said it looks like a Samurai sword but I’m going to go with fishing rod. A lady tries to calm the angry Uncle but it did not seem to work. The video then cuts off leaving us to wonder what the heck happened after. Online Chatter I think anyone’s lj would tbh. All plausible scenarios Want to know what I think? I think if you’re in the wrong, and you know you’re in the wrong, just shut the hell up and go on your way. See la, now you’re going to be famous. 17. TL;DR – A stationary Prius at a set of traffic lights in Woodlands suddenly changes to the right lane. The driver then opens his door to reveal a phone in his hand and points the middle finger at cam car. What bizarre behaviour Watch this minute-long video to understand just how bizarre. The exciting bits are in the first 12-seconds (if you have no time to watch the whole thing). Did you spot something? But, because he decided to do something so foolish, cam car caught something interesting. This mofo was using his handphone while driving! Watched the whole video? Naturally, I watched the whole video to see if cam car had done something to ignite the hellfire within the Prius driver. But, there was nothing to support that fact. 18. TL;DR – A Range Rover enters the main road via a small lane along Braddell road without looking out for oncoming traffic. Cam car manages to evade a T-bone incident with the Range Rover, but it almost came with a huge cost. Wow. I know the Range Rover is a big a#@ car, but shouldn’t that mean you can see almost everything as the driver? Not this guy Watch this 35-second video and see how oblivious the Range Rover driver is. Dangerous evasive manoeuvrers By some miracle, the cam car managed to avoid T-boning the Range Rover, but it had to swerve into the next lane and cut across double white lines in the process. If there had been another vehicle on its right, the crash would have been devastating. Not to mention, the cam car would have to foot the damages. Online Chatter A little harsh. Not! Sounds legit. 19. TL;DR – Nissan Kicks e-POWER seemingly 'steals' a carpark lot from another car and crashes head first into the MSCP railings. Cam car who witnessed and submitted the video claims that it was an accident. A 20-second video of a Nissan Kicks e-POWER stealing a carpark lot at a multi-story carpark has been circulating around social media and WhatsApp chats today. Here’s the footage What it looks like At first glance, it clearly looks like the Kicks had every intention to steal the carpark lot and received instant karma for being selfish and inconsiderate. Damage report 1. The Kicks hit the car that was reversing into the empty carpark lot 2. It also hit the MSCP railings really hard and caused cracks to appear on the walls 3. The force of impact was also strong enough to deploy all the air bags in the Kicks Video witness speaks up So, this found its way into one of my WhatsApp group chats. I guess we need to do some research on the Nissan Kicks to verify. Nissan Kicks e-POWER Screenshot by automotiveworld.com I think the driver begs to differ on the whole ‘enjoyable and engaging’ aspect of the Kicks’ ‘One-Pedal operation’. 20. TL;DR – A Honda Shuttle makes a super-illegal left turn to block the path of cam car at a slip road. The cam car had initially cut into the Honda Shuttle’s lane and the Shuttle driver was having none of it. If someone cuts into your lane abruptly, how would you react? Whack that high beam? Sound the horn? Curse the other driver in the comfort of your car and forget about it in five minutes? That’s what I would do. But, in this latest 3-minute video, we have a Honda Shuttle driver who takes his anger management issues to the next level. So angry for what? Drivers experience this every other day The video begins with a common sighting – a vehicle (cam car) cutting into the path of another vehicle (Honda Shuttle) to enter a slip road. We do not know whether the driver of the cam car signalled their intention to lane change. Cam car enter the slip road, Shuttle drives past as if it’s going straight. Everything seems fine and dandy, right? WRONG! Out of nowhere, the Shuttle appears in front of the cam car and stops there. We then realise that the Shuttle is a Shariot car. It doesn’t even belong to the driver! Wait a minute, hold up For the Shuttle to end up there, doesn’t that mean it had to turn left here? That’s illegal AF though, right? RIGHT?! Uncle, why you so childish? Eventually, the driver steps out of the vehicle to reveal a singlet wearing Uncle. Who uses his phone to snap a picture of the cam car’s license plate. Both parties at fault? While we don’t know what happened before the recording, I must say that the lane change by cam car felt rather abrupt and could have posed a moderate level of danger for vehicles in its rear. But that does not justify doing something illegal to prove a point. Online Chatter Cheap car hard to find though. COE so high. 21. Luckily, no passengers suffered serious injuries during this accident. Earlier this morning, an GoAhead bus driver and his passengers found themselves in an unfortunate predicament during the morning rush hour. The video starts with a cam car turning into a junction near Loyang Ave towards Tampines Ave 7. The driver notices a green GoAhead bus travelling straight through the junction as the car slowly inches forward. He then stops in the yellow box as he lets the bus pass through the junction. Out of the blue, another bus appears from the right of the cam car and abruptly turns into the junction. The sudden movement causes the second bus to hit the back of the first bus, which results in the exploding of the windows on the first bus. Passengers situated near the windows appear to be in shock as the first bus comes to a complete stop. Pictures of the damage from the accident are posted online as well. What exactly happened? According to an online post, it appears that the driver of the second bus had misjudged the proximity of the other bus in the junction. 22. TL;DR – A Mazda 3 driver and a Mitsubishi Attrage driver yells at one another at a HDB estate for reasons unknown. Let’s dive right into the 49-second video. This incident looks like it occurred at a HDB estate (location undetermined), possibly near the entrance of a MSCP. Kimak! The video begins with the grey Mazda 3 driver stepping out of his car, clearly unhappy with the driver in the red Mitsubishi Attrage. . Mazda driver loses all chill and starts cursing at the Mitsubishi driver’s mother (in Malay) and other assorted dialects referencing the female anatomy. The Mitsubishi driver does play a part in this heated exchange as well. He did not project his voice as well as the Mazda driver though, so his voice is muted. What could have sparked this? Looking at the screenshot closely, I think the grey Mazda driver got mad because he was trying to make a left, but he felt obstructed by the Mitsubishi, who was turning right but positioned his car at a weird angle. Red car not in the wrong Technically, one could argue that the Mitsubishi was still within its lane, AND in his defence, he also stopped at the stop line. Online Chatter I also say. That would be a plot twist indeed. Sadly, a lot of things are wrong with the world. -------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 23. What is insurance touting? Insurance touting is a form of motor insurance fraud, in which touts will approach drivers involved in accidents to offer their services in handling the insurance claims. These individuals often refer to themselves as ‘insurance specialists’, and would offer to assess the damages to the vehicles for the laundry list required for an insurance claim. Additionally, they would offer their services for vehicle repairs and would even go so far as to offer a ride to see a doctor for any injuries. Unsuspecting drivers who agree to let these individuals handle their insurance claims will find themselves on the receiving end of a measly insurance payout and high premiums. This is because these touts would often exaggerate and claim unnecessary damages from the driver’s insurance company, some of which includes medical and personal injury claims. They will then inform the driver that a sum of the payout will go towards offsetting the repair and medical costs incurred. How do they know where an accident has occurred? According to Mothership, most insurance touts are part of a larger network with tons of informants spotting accidents along the roads. As time is essential to them, having informants will allow these individuals to reach the scene of an accident before the parties involved call their own insurance companies to report the accident. They also have personal ties to doctors, lawyers and repair workshops – who will often jack up the prices of various medical and repair fees. The most recent incident of insurance touting happened in September when 6 men approached a driver who had been involved in an accident to offer their services to him. These men travelled in a yellow Honda and a black Audi to get to the scene as soon as possible. Coincidentally, we have written articles on how reckless both of these drivers have been on the roads: But surely people won’t fall for this right? According to the police’s Commercial Affairs Department (CAD), motor insurance fraud has been on the rise since 2017, with over 20% of motor insurance claims being dodgy. While the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) has set up a hotline for suspected victims of motor insurance fraud, this does not stop the touters from targeting clueless drivers on the road. What can I do? With motor insurance fraud being such a prevalent issue in Singapore, the most important thing to do is to acknowledge and recognize certain signs. If you are approached on the road by unauthorized individuals after having been in an accident, refuse help from them and insist on settling the issue with your own insurance company. Individuals who have been offered money by touts to submit fraudulent claims, or have evidence that they were a victim of a staged motor accident should call the GIA hotline at (1800 443 7283). By reporting such cases, we can reduce the costs of motor insurance fraud, which would result in lower premiums for all drivers. Now that’s a win-win!
  24. An Audi A3 driver makes a terrible decision in the middle of the SLE expressway and gets shamed for it. That's right guys, you read the video title correctly. In the video, a cam car cruises down the first lane of the expressway when suddenly, the grey Toyota Vios in front of him abruptly brakes. This causes the cam car to hit his own brakes as well to avoid rear-ending the Vios. As expected, the sudden braking of both vehicles leads to a motorcyclist almost hitting the grey Vios as he performs a lane split. Puzzled over the sudden braking, the cam car eventually makes it further down the expressway, only to find a stationary red Audi A3 in the middle of the first lane. The owner can be seen climbing over the divider to retrieve something of his before running back to his precious car. This causes the cam car driver to let out an audible exclamation of "Walao eh!", which voices his disapproval at the Audi driver's inconsiderate actions. Why did the Audi driver stop his car in Lane 1? The A3 driver stopped his car in the middle of the first lane to retrieve this: Yep, that's right - a mirror cover. For those who are unfamiliar with these, a mirror cover covers the back and over of a car's side view mirrors. Its purpose is to protect the mirrors from dirt and debris coming up off the road, as well as to contribute to its aesthetic features. While it is rare for mirror covers to suddenly fly off while you're driving, it's possible for it to happen when one or more of the connection points on the cover is bent or broken. Although it is alarming to have your side mirror covers come off, the part is usually replaceable at a dealer's workshop. This then begs the question: Was it worth it to jam up traffic just to retrieve a broken mirror cover? Our netizens beg to disagree. Netizens' reactions I agree! The benefit of retrieving a possibly broken mirror cover does not outweigh the costs of potentially causing a serious accident. Yep, a quick search on Google shows that mirror covers cost between $20 - $50, with the pricier ones being a bit fancier. Unless you're telling me that the Audi driver's mirror covers are encased in 24k gold and diamonds, I do not see the need to stop his vehicle in the middle of the fastest lane in the expressway just to retrieve it. -------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 25. This story has been trending for the last 48-hours with multiple posts over various FB pages in Singapore. Now, put yourself in the shoes of the taxi driver. If it were me, I would have driven off as soon as the 90s ah beng started shouting. I mean, kudos to the taxi driver for keeping his cool and locking his doors to keep him and his passengers safe. But I think he could have saved his taxi from all that HULK SMASHING if he had driven off. What would you do in the same situation?
