    Skoda Decals

Hi guys Decals are available. Pricing cannot confirm now, have to depend on quantity (But should be around $6 - $7) Please state your interest + quantity needed. 1.
  2. The year's coming to an end and it caps off a great 10 plus months for me in driving the newest cars injected into the market in 2009. But looking back, it just makes me realise how somewhat 'traditional' the local market is, that brands like Skoda and Renault have been given the coldest of shoulders when buying a car. And it's even more troubling that apart from the usual suspects of impression makers like Audi and Volkswagen, Skoda was actually the other brand that stood out from the rest. Yes yes I know they're owned by VW and nearly the whole car besides the glued badge at the front and rear are from it's German parents, but if that's the case, why is it that Skoda isn't doing better or as good as Vee-dub? In a recent article in the Straits Times, a compiled list showed that VW posted a 99.5% increase in their sales figures from a year ago, while Skoda didn't make the list. I did ask a couple of friends and the words that came up the most in their responses were Russian, plastics are cheap and they might break down more often than most other cars. What they forgot to mention though were the issues with selling a Skoda on the second-hand car market, a genuine concern when buying a less popular brand. No doubt it's a huge market, but no one is really looking for a Skoda are they. And even if they were, the owner would be hard-pressed to sell their car at a price much lower than he/she would have liked. A recent visit down to the (empty) Skoda Showroom scattered with salesmen yielded no solution to my resale woes when posed with the very question of "How ah? This one can resell easy anot?". When I took the Skoda VRS Combi out for a spin a couple of months back, it felt like a GTI in a slightly larger body. Not a bad thing considering the punchy and raucous engine felt more than sufficient moving the added weight of the combi around corners and on straights. The chassis was amazing, built on the GTI itself and paired up to the DSG box, made for 5 hours of driving fun that I haven't had in a while. For Renault...how many people actually know the French car-maker is tied up so close to Nissan, they more or less own each other. So is there a prevalent sentiment within our car buying culture that instantly rules certain brands out without much care for consideration? But what's your say? Why do you think its such?
  3. Date : 5 Dec Sat Time : 3.30 pm Venue : Kallang MAC This is also for collection of Decals. Hopefully the new vRS or Octy can make an appearance. 1. othello
  4. Anyone planning to go the Skoda's Blackout sale this weekend? Test drove the Superb, really not too bad! Also know that the Superb Combi in coming in Feb 2010... Might be worth the wait as there's a whole lot more space... Anyway if you guys are going can post the prices? Save me the trip of going down... Thanks
  5. hi old friends This morning wife was attempting to drive and the steering wheel had a sound. Basically the power steering fluid empty. Where can we buy this conveniently (we are around Tg Pagar area)? The car is at home (Tuas). Since this usually don't drain, so it is probably a leak also. But have to fill up before it can be driven. That's the problem. Many thanks! Pax
  6. quick, grab ur cheque and cash ready!!!!!! my parent just came back from china 10 day holiday. my mum get ashmatic attack and after spendg 700 HK dollar seeing a doctor in HK, Doc advise to see one when back. yes, took her to our own doc and it cost $50 Dollar!!!! plus newspaaper today mention, living will be up nxt year due to many reasonS!!! plus me working in a finanial instuite, one of our SIA senior investment advisory who use to drive an M5. say the industry is still on going consoliation.... so BLACKOUT SALE also no use!!!! NO MOOD!!!
  7. good to know that HA is ramping up the A&P for the brand for eg. the Class 95 launch. However, their pricing strategy leaves much to be desired. Understand that the OMV is the main culprit. Given that it seriously inflates the selling price, I'm bewildered that they did not seek strongly to bring in the lower spec version. I dunno, maybe their hands are tied, they were pressured. But 84K for Octy 1.4 ?? I dun care TSI or ZTI, its freaking expensive !! IMO, they are still very naive to think that pple will buy becos its value for $$$ (issit still ?). Without addressing the current limitations/weaknesses of their operations/support, they have simply believed that just because of their VAG linkage, the car will automatically sell well . Well, the MK1 Octy and Spb are already good cars. Already built with VAG parts, price lower but people still did not bite. The old vRS can be a monster as the older members can attest to but still it sold in limited numbers. The new one ? LAGI worse, sold 2/3 ? So now, becos of the DSG, it suddenly became GOOD again ? Well, VW selling like hotcakes due to the iconic Golf leading the way. But skoda ? I doubt so. Well, given the current pricing, I dun think I will consider a skoda for my next car. Put it bluntly, why get a Octavia if I can get a Jetta ? Mind you, the Octavia is just a facelifted model, not even a new model. And given that VW QC remains suspect (hear lots of stories over at vagsg) , what then of skoda ? I wonder whats all the fuss about. I empathise with Tashi about HA totally ignoring this community. Their only involvement is using this forum for Q&A !! Enuff said. sorry for being lor sor .....
  8. Hi, Anybody knows when the car will be coming to Singapore ? It has a new 1.4 TSI engine that is shared with the Jetta, not to mention the 7 speed DSG gearbox. Looks promising if priced reasonably.
  9. Hi guys!! With the good response to the group buy for the T-shirt, the nice peeps over at Vagsg are extending an invitation for us to join up in their upcoming meetup (or GTG as they usually call it) on the 13 August next Thursday at Kallang!! I will definitely try to make it.......who's on?? 1) Speeddemon
  10. [thumbsup] Three thumbs up. Tonight went to a special invite for the Skoda Octavia launch. The evening was excellently held like the Skoda Superb launch just a few months back. The car is beautifully redesigned headlamps must be seen in real life as photos somehow did not capture the exact emotion when you see it real life. The equipment as been updated with better materials and higher quality feel. Many small touches here and there that any driver will appreciate. The Test DRIVE - wow this is the part that I was looking forward to the evening. The DRIVE, it is something a driver has to experience themselves. The pure power under tap, the smooth gear shifts, the acceleration pull keeps you in your seat till it reaches 3rd gear or something (sorry was too excited to take note :) ) The brakes were responsive and does it work immediately when you step on it. The wind noise was not audible even at 70km/h for the brief acceleration pull. The ride felt hard but not uncomfortable to the driver or backseat passenger. Corners were taken in with confidence. You have test drive it yourself! There is a smile on my face tonight. :)

  14. Hi guys!! VAGSG has got a group buy for their T-shirts as the link below: http://www.vagsg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24079 The T-shirt will look something like the pic below. I am liasing with the coordinator to customize it so that the logos on the shoulder patch will be the Skoda logos and the wording "www.vagsg.com" behind the T-shirt will be green in colour to match the Skoda logo. The coordinator has indicated that it can be done without any additional charge as long as I can give her a high res image of the Skoda logo and get more people to buy the Skoda version. I have already emailed her an image of the Skoda logo so...... ANYONE INTERESTED?? Vagsg_T_shirt.bmp
  15. Well made Skoda Superb 2 advert from China. They really take the time to tell a story.....they have deeper pockets and larger population. http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTE0ODQzMTYw.html

  18. Last week I was in Shanghai to attend a gala dinner for the Special Olympics and gave some donations, as VW was one of the sponsors of the Special Olympics, I was suprise to recieve a Precision Die Cast replica of the Skoda Octavia (A5) model, to my excitment I asked if they had a Skoda Superb, alas they do not have it as it is not launched yet. Anyways back to the Octavia looking at it, it is a beautifully crafter enthusiast model car, it is a full aluminum die cast with powder coated external shell. It it has well made plastics and even some vivnyl to replicate the carpeting of the actual model. The attention to details can be seen on the dash board and HU area, it has the original Skoda HU/NAV Sat setup box. The Skoda Badge and rims even has the Skoda silk screen to it. It has collapsable wing mirrors, all four doors can be opened, the hood and bonnett can also be opened. When you turn the steering wheel you actually turn the wheel, ingenious. The undercarraige is well detailed too with individual suspension in the front and rear axis. The color it only in Silver as they only had this color abvailable. Let me know if you are interested - as I do not drive a Octavia therefore I am letting this go. Price bidding starts at $60.00 not over $100 for those interested, PM me. Cheers.
  19. I was wondering among the Skoda owners here, would you honestly purchase another Skoda? For me I really like the Skoda ride, I guess for me getting a good deal of a car is more important than the badge and the local dealer. For me the value in price over part is the most important aspect for me. I am looking forward to the next Superb II, if they are correct with full specs at below 90k can be considered, my only quiz about their statement of a fully spec car is equivalanet to what? But I would like a 86-90K ranged value for money car. At this price, I can see the new Skoda Superb really punch through the Singapore market and by pass the likes of the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord.....Ford Mondeo range of cars. I think good price plus specs and proper branding will work well in our market. If you look at the brochure the full specs looks good, though. Would a current SPB/Octy upgrade?

  21. Hi All, Not doing any sales here, but just to share something which I was looking for when I owned a Skoda, but too bad didnt get it. Recently did a set of windows deflectors for my new ride (astra) and happened to know this distributor for Team Heko products. I enquired whether is there any for Skoda and he said can indent and bring in if there are enough orders. Not sure whether anyone has this already... So if there is enough interest, I can help to organise a group buy here... Here are the Skoda cars applicable... SKODA FABIA 4d / 5d 2000r.
  22. http://www.skoda.com.cn/skoda/pages/home/index.do Okay ... failed my chinese... but the site certainly looks more impressive than the local one They've got the Fabia and the Octavia as well. Wonder when we'll ever see them on local shores

  24. Hi all, IMHO, the new superb looks much better than the current sad looking frontal look. It has DSG gearbox but horsepower is rather low, only 160bhp for a 1.8T. This is 10 horses more than the current one, which has only 150 horses for a 1.8L turbocharged engine. http://new.skoda-auto.com/COM/model/newsup...epage.aspx?ff=0 Is this coming to town or already arrived at the showroom? Regards,
