  1. is it me or sgcarmart? at the moment, i cant load sgcarmart main website and forum is loading crazily slow.
  2. met a sissy driver whom i supposed have a big ego. this happened today when i was driving along CTE in lane 1 towards city. i was picking up speed as infront was clear, then this sissy who was in lane 2 pretty far away cut into my lane without signalling causing me to ease my throttle(iam fines as its very common and used to it). but this driver didn't pick up speed any much faster than vehicles in lane 2 and after a few seconds,i was pretty close to him(i was stepping the gas pedal in a gentle manner) and there was a big gap in front of him. and again,i know road hoggers are very common so usually i don't horn or beam.instead i always have to find chance and overtake from lane 2. so my turn to turn to be nasty now.i tailgated him (well probably 1/4car length) not that close though. i tailgated him because he was probably 5km/hr faster than a taxi on lane 2 and i wanted to filter infront of the taxi so that i can overtake him. now,my chance has come(feels like donkey years) and i signal left to filter... what happend at this moment,as soon as i ON my signal, this bugger tap his brake light(even though he didn't jam brake).now this shows how big ego he owns. u know how annoying it is when one is trying to filter lane and the car infront suddenly brake? so when i drive pass this sissy, beside him was a lady driver who turned her head and looked at me(probably he told her how close i was behind them). but i ignored him and continue my journey. the woman passenger must have blown his ego big big. what a loser to drive like this.
  3. Recently, I was driving along the NS highway At the point after yong peng, I could see a crashed 40 footer lorry at the centre divider Thinking nothing much of it, I sped pass at 150km/h There were some debris on the road and I swerved a little to avoid them Unknowing to me, the crashed truck has been leaking diesal No prizes for guessing what happen next My vehicle skidded out of control and crashed in to the divider My face turned green consequently Thanks to morden car features like stability control and ABS, no one was injured Although the general message is to pass an accident vehicle so as not to cause a traffic jam It certainly pays to pass with some caution
  4. just now i realised that when i floor the accelerator pedal, my car do not react in the usual manner. It seems to pause for a while before reacting and picking up to change gear. Anyone can help? i am driving a 3 year old auto mx5
  5. Been bio-ing the RCZ for some time but i dun know why the 156hp model has such a (relatively) poor 0-100 timing. Compared to Audi A3 1.8 TFSI, it only lose out by 4hp and 10Nm of torque. But it is lighter than the A3 by more than 100kg. Yet the A3 0-100 timing is more 1.3 sec faster (RCZ 9secs, A3 7.7secs). In century sprint timings, dat is a very big difference. Surely it should be about the same as the A3? In fact the Golf TSI (non sport) which is only 122hp (down 34hp to the RCZ) and 200Nm (down 40Nm from RCZ) is only slower by half second (9.5secs) to the RCZ. Its also around 100kg lighter than RCZ. And the golf sport which has same hp and torque figures as RCZ is 8sec (1 sec faster).

  14. Date - today Time - just now Background - feeling down, thus travel leisurely along KJE towards BKE. Was cruising @ 80km/h in centre lane with a M'sia Wira, 2 vans in front. No way to speed up unless overtake. Right lane was clear. Incident - Think was not far after coming into KJE from PIE, did not notice where it came from but the moment I noticed there was a grey Sienta (SFE9***X) right behind me (mind you I was in centre lane). I can only see 1/2 of his headlamp, the next moment the driver HI-BEAM me ... I was puzzled, thought could it be someone I know ? The Sienta overtook me, while at side I looked at the driver, he gesture me with a "WTF" hand-signal & face ... I was like "huh ?" ... if it was an accidental triggering of hi-beam, his expression won't be like this right ? ... I took the right lane behind him and flashed, hand signalling "why?", he tapped brake before moved on. I was really down today, thus I cut back to centre lane and continue my journey. Question - What could I have done wrong ? Drove a far less superior car than a Sienta ? Drove too slowly where cars are in front ? Should I cut to left lane to let it pass me ? If this dear Sienta driver frequent this forum, please clear my doubt.

  16. Recently, my iBook has been behaving strangely. The web page seems to take ages to load. Tried clearing all the caches and still no help. Tried using other browser like Camilo, but same thing, regardless of timing of the day/night. What's the probable cause - computer fault, browser fault or ISP? Am on SingNet 1Mpbs connection (so far been very good in the past).
  17. Hi guys, Just wondering. Personally, I have notice that many parked illegally along the roads causes traffic jams or slow traffic. There also many drivers that slow down and try to cut out, exit during the minute and wrong speed speed wrong lane. I think Traffic Police and LTA should increase the fine or demerit points to deter these errands drivers.
  18. Gmail, Reader and even search has been real bluddy slow. Anyone experienced the same ?

  23. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../394940/1/.html Car dealers expect slow sales leading up to festive season By Dominique Loh, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 08 December 2008 1907 hrs Car dealers expect slow sales leading up to festive season SINGAPORE: The year-end holiday season brought out car buyers in droves in the past years. But dealers said Singaporeans are now holding back on big ticket items like cars because of the economic uncertainty. Even with lower Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums, most buyers are thinking twice about spending tens of thousands of dollars on a car. Times are bad if you're a parallel importer of cars at Singapore's Ubi Industrial Estate. Most of the customers whom Channel NewsAsia spoke to were merely checking out prices on Monday, unlike a year ago when dealers saw more people booking a new car or buying a used one in time for the Lunar New Year. >>Check price first, then will know what price to counter-offer when the COE crash after CNY?<< Buyers are not willing to part with large sums of money for the downpayment and due to the recent financial meltdown, getting a bank loan is also more difficult. Jeffrey Ong, sales manager, ApriCar, said: "Presently, the banks are not supportive. A number of buyers had their loans reduced. A lot of them can't change their cars or buy new ones." Some car dealers are seeing a 50 per cent drop in business since the financial mess unfolded. Others have made a quick exit, looking for cheaper rental space elsewhere. But it is not all bad news for them as there are some savvy buyers around. One said: "Basically, I'm prepared for such situations. In fact, now's the best time for me to buy. I've been saving all this while. I'm waiting for the right moment to strike
  24. I am always puzzled when cars slow down upon seeing large patches of water My dad says its to prevent water from entering the engine. But still, i have see people zooming into the puddle head on and sending water all over the place . They say its okay and doesnt affect thier engine
  25. Used-car buyers in the slow lane Potential buyers were shying away from showrooms, and sales had dropped by as much as half last month. Tue, Nov 11, 2008 The Straits Times By Yeo Ghim Lay & Ben Nadarjan THE global financial crisis appears to have put the brakes on sales of second-hand cars, which had been motoring along nicely since the beginning of the year. A check with 10 used-car dealers found that potential buyers were shying away from showrooms, and sales had dropped by as much as half last month. "Customers are taking a wait-and-see attitude. It's like everyone is on hold since the financial crisis started," said Mr Jerry Ong, owner of Auto Inn. He used to sell 15 to 25 cars every month, but saw fewer than eight roll off the showroom floor last month. The owner of a used-car dealership at Turf City, who declined to be named, said sales had dropped by half. He expects even less business this month. Hardest hit are the sales of big cars, like luxury sedans and sport utility vehicles, which consume more petrol than smaller models. Mr Neo Nam Heng, president of the Singapore Vehicle Traders Association, said that while the market was still moving, sales were "quite slow" during the last two weeks of last month. Official figures for the month are not yet available. The slowdown marks a change from previous months, when car buyers made their way to second-hand dealers as consumers tightened their belts amid high prices for petrol, electricity and rice. Land Transport Authority statistics show that used-car sales from July to September averaged 2,538 a month ? a jump of 20 per cent from the same quarter last year. More than 23,800 used cars were sold last year, up from about 20,800 in 2006. But the global financial crisis appears to have changed all that. The failure of some of the world's biggest banks, gyrating stock markets and the drying up of credit have left potential car buyers jittery. The trend is especially pronounced in the luxury car market, where one agent said that buyers were unwilling to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a car. The agent recently advised a client to pull his Maserati off the market as no buyer was willing to meet the selling price of more than $200,000. A check on popular car website www.sgcarmart.com showed that there were 34 luxury cars available last month, compared to seven in September and just one in August. They include a two-year-old Lamborghini Gallardo going for $620,000. Meanwhile, dealers are slashing prices to get more people behind the wheel. Mr Glen Wong, a senior sales executive at Hua Yang Credit, said prices had been lowered by $1,000 to $2,000 per car three weeks ago. At Lake View Credit, a two-year-old Toyota Corolla Altis is going for about $42,000 now, down from $48,000 three months ago. Said managing director Tan Ah Chiew: "New cars are now cheaper, so used-car prices must come down too. And with the current state of the economy, customers will be paying more attention to prices."
