  1. Hi, I have noticed that the access into MCF and SgCarmart had been slower than normal. Did anyone face the same problem recently?
  2. Drivers refuse to slow down at crossing for special ed kids http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singapor...nt.jsp?id=32476 From the video it seems some of the cars appear to be travelling quite fast. Maybe they should just construct strips before the crossing and a higher hump.
  3. I seem to experience when posting a thread, it takes forever to be delivered - something like 10sec. Any members face similiar encounter?
  4. i got this thru email.... 28hrs work week for germans... damn ....good life.. Good article ... esp the last part. [/size] A MUST READ An excellent article to read and enjoy (may be action as well!!). It's been 18 years since I joined Volvo, a Swedish company. Working for them has proven to be an interesting experience. Any project here takes 2 years to be finalized, even if the idea is simple and brilliant. It's a rule. Globalized processes have caused in us (all over the world) a general sense of searching for immediate results.. Therefore, we have come to posses a need to see immediate results. This contrasts greatly with the slow movements of the Swedish. They, on the other hand, debate, debate, debate, hold x quantity of meetings and work with a slowdown scheme. At the end, this always yields better results. In other words: [ol] [*]Sweden has 2 million inhabitants.[/ol] [ol] [*]Stockholm has 500,000 people.[/ol] [ol] [*]Volvo, Escania, Ericsson, Electrolux, are some of its renowned companies. Volvo even supplies NASA.[/ol] The first time I was in Sweden , one of my colleagues picked me up at the hotel every morning. It was September, bit cold and snowy. We would arrive early at the company and he would park far away from the entrance (2000 employees drive their car to work). The first day, I didn't say anything, neither the second or third days. One morning I asked him, "Do you have a fixed parking space? I've noticed we park far from the entrance even when there are no other cars in the lot." To which he replied, "Since we're here early we'll have time to walk, don't you think that whoever gets in late will need a place closer to the door?" Imagine my face. Nowadays, there's a movement in Europe named Slow Food. This movement establishes that people should eat and drink slowly, with enough time to taste their food, spend time with the family, friends, without rushing. Slow Food is against its counterpart, Fast Food and what it stands for as a lifestyle. Slow Food is the basis for a bigger movement called Slow Europe, as mentioned by Business Week. Basically, the movement questions the sense of "hurry" and "craziness" generated by globalization, fuelled by the desire of "having in quantity" (life status) versus "having with quality", "life quality" or the "quality of being". French people, even though they work 35 hours per week, are more productive than Americans or British. Germans have established 28.8 hour workweeks and have seen their productivity been driven up by 20%.. This slow attitude has come to the notice of USA , the pupils of the fast and "do it now" brigade. This no-rush attitude doesn't represent doing less or having a lower productivity It means working and doing things with greater quality, productivity, perfection, with attention to detail and less stress. It means re-establishing family values, friends, free and leisure time. Taking the "now", present and concrete, versus the "global", undefined and anonymous. It means taking humans' essential values, the simplicity of living. It stands for a less coercive work environment, more happy, lighter and more productive work place where humans enjoy doing what they know best how to do. It's time to stop and think on how companies need to develop serious quality with no-rush that will increase productivity and the quality of products and services, without losing the essence. In the movie, 'Scent of a Woman', there's a scene where Al Pacino asks a girl to dance and she replies, "I can't, my boyfriend will be here any minute now". To which Al responds, "A life is lived in an instant". Then they dance the tango. Many of us live our lives running behind time, but we only reach it when we die of a heart attack or in a car accident rushing to be on time. Others are so anxious to live for the future that they forget to live the present, which is the only time that truly exists. We all have equal time throughout the world. No one has more or less. The difference lies in how each one of us does with our time. We need to live each moment. As John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans". Congratulations for reading this email till the end of this message. There are many who will have stopped in the middle so as not to waste time in this "Globalized" world.
  5. Hi everyone. I have been driving my Mitsubishi Lancer for 16 months now. Recently I noted that the front right tyre pressure leaked very slowly, something like 40Kpa in a week ( from 230Kpa to 190Kpa ). The other 3 tyres never leaked and still maintained the 230Kpa pressure I pump to them one week ago. I wonder where I can send the tyre for repair ? Any tyre shop to recommend ? and How much would it cost me ? Also, I wonder if C&C undergo tyre repair service for a cost as well. My car is One year plus old and still under warranty. Any good suggestion would be very much appreciated. Is it common for tyre to deflate so slowly ie. 40Kpa in one week ??
  6. Had been experiencing very slow to open a thread at MCF since 9.15 pm....... Is it the server problem ..... Takes 2 minutes to open a thread or 2 minutes to post a reply........
  7. 1. I'm considering slowing down, already sold my properties and going to living in HDB flat. Also thinking of resigning and find a more relaxed job. Don't mind job status and prepared to take 40% cut in pay package too. Can spend more quality time with young kids and do more exercises. 2. Just the thought of it, make me feel happier and more relaxed . Anyone thinking of it too ? Regards,
  8. June 10, 2008 SBS driver stuck behind wheel for an hour after collision AN SBS Transit bus driver was stuck behind the wheel for about an hour after he crashed into the back of an SMRT bus on Tuesday morning. The Singapore Civil Defence Force had to cut through the side of the bus with a power saw to get to him. The SBS driver broke a leg, while the SMRT driver complained of back and neck pain. Both were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. There were no passengers injured in the accident, which happened along Yio Chu Kang Road at about 9.45 am. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/...79.html?vgnmr=1
  9. Weird cranking sound on the rear wheels, when going really slow or braking. Wonder what it is, will get it checked in with Jaffa next week. Anyone experience this?

  11. Hi, After driving around these few months in my new ride, I sorta noticed that FIATs are generally slow for their specs. Even the ultra-sporty-looking Punto is kinda slowish. The Panda is slower than "poo on on constipation day". Is it because the cars are super-conti-heavy but powered by small cc? So, what's the plus with FIATs? In my opinion, only the Punto & Croma looks nice, but the pricing's so ugh!
  12. Wah... something wrong issit? like very slow now leh... Need to reboot server?
  13. from CB: http://www.carbuyer.com.sg/?s=news_main&id=516 November round 1: Slow sales, despite a COE rebound A rebound in Category A COEs sees them close to $17,000 again. So why is the motor trade worried? PRICES FOR CERTIFICATES Of Entitlement ended higher today, but not to the extent one would have expected of a healthy car market. Category A COEs (for cars up to 1.6-litres as well as taxis) ended today
  14. STOMPer Jerry saw this sign asking vehicles to slow down to zero kilometre per hour before the humps and thinks it is asking for the impossible. "I was going down a very gentle slope when I saw this sign and I find out that it is almost impossible to cross the hump at 0km/h even though I'm on a slope," the STOMPer said in an email today (17 Sept). The STOMPer said the sign is found on every floor of the building but would not reveal the name of the building or where it is located. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/viewPost5486.aspx

    Slow in SH....TV?

Hi all, of late noticed that my SH is very slow in "loading" the program, I mean SH TV. When I switch from say Channel 8 (Program 3) to Channel U (Program 7), the screen would turn blank for about 30 seconds (or sometime almost a minutes) before the sound follow by image appear..... There is no fix duration and pattern, it happen to all dffierent channels/programs....anytime Just wonder any SH subscribers out there experience the same like myself? or anyone have any idea/explanation in this recent situation? Thanks for any comment, in advance!
  16. Before i start, i need to apologise to everyone whom i know want pics... i charged the batteries, cleaned out the lens, made sure i took the camera.... but i left the memory card at home On Sat 24 June, there was a drag day at heathcote park in victoria australia. I didn't take part this time (the sera would have been munched to bits and pieces) but went to the drag day as part of a "pit crew" Started the day driving 300km to get to the track. It would normally be a much shorter drive but courtesy of the fog and the blind leading the blind, we missed the first turnoff by 78km . During the drive it was cold enough that frost started to form on my side mirrors On reaching there, the first few cars were just getting on the track. We had a few skylines (r32-r34), S15 silvias, the usual fare of civics and teggy's (including a H22A powered eg on slicks ), one WRX, one Evo 9, one GSR, one celica, and one s2000 among others. there were quite a few modded Mazda 3 sp23's and the car that has got a new found respect from me... the hipporollas!!! All the hipporollas were NA, and bar the two H22A powered cars and the celica, they beat ALL the other NA cars!!! Don't ask me what they did but they were consistently getting low 14's on the wet track. And even though it was by less than a second, even the modded DC2's and DC5's still lost. Naturally the S15's owned ALL the fwd and rwd cars (which was expected) with all in the low 13's. Mind you, the GSR was the only car to get past the 13 sec mark, and all the other awd's were running times similar to the s15's. (I'm sure all the car could get better times, but with the track remaining v.cold, and wet/v.damp throughout the day traction was an issue). the skylines were running similar times to the hondas, but were not as modded. Pitty the R33 was running cheap tyres as it was basically wheel spinning at every gear change.... I reckon it would have given the s15's a run for their money. this wet track also highlighted how much safer awd is for normal street driving with very little to no traction loss of the track even with the clutch dumps they were doing. Whatever the case, go the hipporollas!!!!!!!

  20. Friday, August 25, 2006 OYAMA, Japan (AP) - Toyota says it may delay some models as it works to improve quality control. The automaker's president denies that there's been a decision to delay models across the board, saying development of individual vehicles will be decided on a case-by-case basis. The Japanese automaker is tightening its quality control methods in a campaign to reduce a spate of recalls that risk damaging its reputation. The Wall Street Journal reports that Toyota has considered slowing development of some new models by as much as six months because of the quality problems. In addition, Japanese authorities have launched a criminal investigation into three Toyota officials suspected of failing to do anything about a faulty steering part, which may have caused a 2004 head-on accident that injured five people. Friday, Chinese authorities said Toyota will recall 20,000 Crown sedans made in China because of defective rubber strips that seal the windshields. 21. we know you've got the best handling car of it's class.......please slow down ...and saves the little birdies !
  22. for the pass 2 wks, my ride has been getting more n more bumpy. sort of jerkin when esp in 2 n 3rd gear or when my leg is off pedal n the car rolling... any idea wat causes all these? as i suspects its my rear left tyre, whenever i pump air into my wheels, all the other 2 tyre seldom need to pump much air as i pump every 2 wks. oni that rear left tyre i can pump a lot of air compared to the other 3. n 1 -2 wks later the tyre loses air like no body business again. n when the car jerks, can sort of felt tat the jerkin originals from the rear left side. anyone encounters this b4? btw mine is 1991 swift. being ridin it for 1 yr plus with changing tyre. 14 inches rims. so is it the tyre problem or rims problem???? bros here got any good recommendation for 14 inches tyres n rims??? cos i know nothing about tyres... saw few bros here sayin about quiet tyres. does the noise difference really made such a big difference? thks
  23. everytime i move off, i feel that the pick-up power is not exactly there. even taxis and vans overtake me sometimes. do you encounter the same prob or isit just aveo?
  24. Just curious if anyone ever get bothered about the seat belt retracting too slowly ? My previous Sunny, once I release, it'll snap back very very fast. But my current Stream, when I release, due to the angle of the seatbelt hook (along B-pillar), it may or may not retract .. sometimes it just hang there ! The manual mentioned slow retracting could be due to dirt on the seat belt ... but I've cleaned it with no effect. I think it's more due to the angle .... Anyone has any neat trick ?
