  5. Hi all Need some recommendations from you guys. I have tried looking at peninsula, queensway, could not find a decent pair of soccer boots. I'm just a casual farrer park player, and my last two pairs, Umbros, each only lasted bout 3-4 months before the soles gave way. Can I have recommendations for a good yet decently priced pair of soccer boots and where to get them? My budget's hopefully below 100 for this new pair. But if the recommendation is about a pair of really good, long lasting pair, I would not mind spending a little more. Thanks!
  6. I am asking if there are any die-hard loyal soccer friends? Recently, a friend of mine was happy that his Liverpool is doing well thus posting through Facebook like " Yea, Liverpool 2-0,etc..." Thereafter, the posts got very heated because some of his loyal Man Utd Friends came in and gave very sarcastic comments on Liverpool which is his favorite and supported club....Thereafter, from what i know is that he deleted them away from his FB and i think they are no longer friends anymore...... So i am just wondering whether some MCFs guys over here are also these types of die hard soccer loyal fans?????????
  7. HI All, I looking to buy PS3 soccer games... but there are so many in the market... which one is more recommended and nice to play? Winning eleven 2010? FiFA 2010?
  8. ESPN latest : "Portuguese midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first Premier League star to be named FIFA's world player of the year. The Manchester United and Portugal winger beat AC Milan's Kaka, Liverpool's Fernando Torres and Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Xavi to take the award at a star-studded gala in Zurich." Ronaldo gets World Player of the Year award Cristiano Ronaldo was named as FIFA World Player of the Year for 2008 on Monday and became the first Premier League player to get the award at a star-studded gala in Zurich. The 23-year-old was in stunning form last term when he helped Manchester United to Premier League and European Cup success hitting 42 goals in the process, and after FIFA's annual poll of international team coaches and captains he has added the world governing body's prize to the prestigious Ballon d'Or which he has already received. Ronaldo received the award from Pele, and said: ''It is an overwhelming moment and a very special moment in my life and I would like to say to my mother and sister that the fireworks can be set off now. Ha...ha...ha.... a diver can win award....
  9. As we all know it, World Cup has always been a kelong business. But this is the first time I saw such kelong blatantness....just watch the France-Ireland qualification match last night. It was such a blatant handball from Henry, that he even tell the referee about it but the ref says it's a goal. "It was a handball, but I'm not the ref. I told (the referee) but he said to me the same: 'You are not the ref.'" I feel the pain for all the Irish fans. Henry didn't cheat.....the officials did. Yesterday, although France qualified, none of their players walked into dressing room with their heads held high. The Irish players may have lost, but they can walk proud.

  11. the ministar has spoken. its ok for sngaporeans to pay more. below is an excerpt: HYPOTHETICALLY, the Government could tell a service provider hoping to offer Barclays Premier League (BPL) programming how much it could charge subscribers - then let the provider work out how much it could afford to bid for the broadcast rights. But a move like this, even if intended to keep prices low for viewers, may backfire and deprive them of programming altogether, said Rear-Admiral (NS) Lui Tuck Yew, Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, in Parliament yesterday. "Bear in mind...the content owner (such as the Football Association Premier League) might very well say that 'I will not sell to Singapore' (because of low bids), and we would be at a greater loss, particularly for the consumers who feel that they are prepared to pay the price for the package," he added.

  15. This will have impact if MDA really do, and about time. Lots of U turn recently. Sorry for the wall of text. ------------- Singapore - As bidding for the next three-year cycle of English Premier League soccer looms, the Media Development Authority (MDA) of Singapore is believed to be looking at intervening to prevent the costs of broadcast rights escalating any further. MDA are believed to be hosting meetings between rival pay-TV operators StarHub Digital Cable and SingTel mio TV, to encourage compromise rather than competitive bids for the EPL rights. StarHub Digital Cable paid around US$150 million for the current 2007-2009 cycle, three times what had been paid for the previous three-year cycle. Rival telco SingTel had previously made public its intention to make soccer and HD two key offerings for the Q4 2007 launch of its new IPTV pay-TV service mio TV. MDA is thought to be responding to complaints from football fans as the price of StarHub's sports package has almost doubled at the start of each new cycle - rising from S$8 to S$15 per month in 2004; to S$25 per month from 2007. There is obvious concern that a bidding war between StarHub and SingTel would push up prices to the consumer even further from 2010, with such hikes even less welcome in the current economic climate. FA Premier League executives previously told Television Asia Plus that Singapore is their second-most lucrative overseas territory in the world, behind Hong Kong. "SingTel are readying their chequebook (for the next cycle)," said Phil Lines head of international broadcasting and media operations. Since 2004, MDA has been examining the issue of exclusivity across all key content, not just sports rights, but has not intervened thus far. --------------------- Previously reported. --------------------- Football fans will have to pay more to get their weekly fix of quality matches on TV, but that
  16. Hi guys, Any recommendation of good places to watch EPL soccer match on ESPN? Requirements : Sells drinks Has air-con Not too crowded Not too expensive (Should not exceed $20 pax for non-alcoholic drinks alone)
  17. What a crab for soccer fans over here. Next season EPL and European - 'Champion League' will be telecast over at 2 different service providers .......  StarHub (SH) for EPL and SingTel (ST) MIO TV for Champion League. Furthermore, prices for subscription to EPL at SH will also be increased for next season. Was comtemplating whether to subscribe for another provider (MIO TV) or cancel current one (SH) and rely on newspaper if they going to increase the price too much...... Another alternative is watching from my house coffee shop downstair over a cup of 'Teh-si' provided they continue to subscribe to cablevision for next season.......
  18. No sure if any one has read this on soccernet, but I think it is damn funny. ============================================================= BUCHAREST -- Romanian second division soccer club UT Arad sold a player in exchange for 15 kilograms of meat, local sport daily Pro Sport reported on Monday. However, fourth division Regal Horia made a bad deal because defender Marius Cioara decided to end his footballing career and take off to Spain to find a job in agriculture or construction. "We are upset because we lost twice -- firstly because we lost a good player and secondly because we lost our team's food for a whole week," a Regal Horia official was quoted as saying by the daily in its electronic edition.

  20. The Current Starhub Hubstation Ad. About Soccer fans missing bits of the action Is probably one of the WORST Ads I've ever seen. On any channel. In the past 20 years. Horrendous actors. Lousy Lines. Completely Charisma-free delivery of lines. Who in the world gets paid to script/direct this crap? Who in the world gets paid to act as bad as they have? Shouldn't Starhub subscribers be paid to have to suffer through crap Ads like this? Someone should get fired for making such awful bs.
  21. CNA Report : Football: Brazilian Olympic football team to play friendly against Singapore SINGAPORE: Brazil's star-studded football team will be in Singapore for a friendly match against Singapore's national team. The Lions will face some of the world's best players such as Ronaldinho and Robinho in the match on July 28. Singapore is the first of two acclimatisation stops before the Brazil team heads to Beijing for the Olympics. The match will take place at the National Stadium. Tickets range from $60 to $120. The team will fly to Vietnam for the second game on July 29. Singapore's efficiency and safety plus the country being in the same time zone as Beijing helped woo one of the world's most popular teams to its shores. Winston Lee, general secretary of Football Association of Singapore, said: "We started negotiations with the agent in May and we had to contend with a few big countries in Asia and Europe. We are happy, of course, today to announce we have secured Brazil to play in Singapore on July 28." Weird..... Would you pay SG$60/- ~ SG$120/- to see Brazil soccer team heading for Beijing Olympic warming up by playing a friendly soccer against SG national team..... Maybe, $10 ~ $15 should be enough ...... , afterall it is not a competition game and each players could only play for about 20 minutes and as in friendlies, they could change as many players as possible. Not for me....
  22. 2008/07/19 Football: FAM ropes in Titus http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php http://www.nst.com.my/Saturday/Sport/2297671/insidepix1 National coach B. Sathianathan (left) and FAM general secretary Datuk Azzudin Ahmad look at the Chelsea tickets with ProEvents CEO Julian Kam. Pic: HASAN ISMAIL. CHELSEA are coming with their best but the FA of Malaysia also sprang a surprise yesterday when it announced that France-based Titus James Palani has been asked to return for the friendlies against India (Thursday) and the English club (July 29). Titus is returning to Malaysia today but national coach B. Sathianathan said he will have to prove himself. "He has to fight for a place among the 22 players to be registered for the match. We don't know how fit he is or whether he has he been playing competitive football but we will give him a try," said Sathianathan during a press conference on the Chelsea match in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. Malaysia leave for the India friendly, to be played in Hyderabad, on Tuesday. "'The India match is important for us to improve our ranking and also prepare for the Asean Championship. I have included nine Under-23 players." Meanwhile, Michael Ballack, Frank Lampard, Nicolas Anelka, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, Peter Cech and new signings Deco and Jose Bosingwa are some of the stars arriving on July 27. The match two days later is at the Shah Alam Stadium. Julian Kam, CEO of promoter ProEvents, said 20,000 tickets have been sold and fans have been urged to get them fast the match has also attracted the interest of fans from neighbouring countries.
