  3. Hi Zafi owners, i am thinking of buying a second hand Zafi. But heard that there is some minor problem here and there and parts are really expensive. Can some owners help? What I heard is engine fail to start at time becoz of ECU software. Need to take out battery let it reset then the car can move could be immobiliser. other things is overheating problem and plastic on the dashboard seems to deform. Could this be older model problem. Even though there are this feedbck, but i am still keen on this car as I like it as a mid size MPV.

  7. A close friend related this unhappy, undesirable and unfair experience to me.Really freak ed the hell out of me. Someone hit his new toyota vios from behind(obviously NOT his fault) so he go ahead to claim the other party insurance but when he reported to his own insurance,he was told that they do not do 3rd party claim & suggested he claim his own insurance 1st,then get all relevant documents and claim back from the other party insurance(to be done all by himself). As this is the 1st time he dealt with such situation,he got no choice but to follow suggestion,in the end was only able to claim back the access amt he had paid (abt $400-access of his own comprehensive policy) from the other party insurance company. Now since he had made a claim against his OWN insurance,he lost his NCD & higher premium next time. Some even suggest that he should get a lawyer to write a letter to the other party insurace to fight for the claim but too risky if he were to do that, becoz he might end up gaining nothing and still got to pay for legal fees-not worth at all. This is a clear cut case-NOT his fault,if happened few yrs ago,no problem at all, never heard of such thing as "we dun do 3rd party claim". Now seemed that not his fault but in the end he become the victim-lost NCD and pay higher premium. Can someone advise on this? Any solution ? why why why???

  9. To: The driver of a red Toyota Corolla starting with SCE xxxx Date: 16/10/03 Time: Approximately 7.10pm Location: Bus-stop filter lane outside Kallang MRT The scenario: A bunch of colleagues and I was crossing the road when your car sped towards us. There was no traffic light at our point of crossing though. You did not slow down upon seeing people on the road, and continued to speed towards us. You gave us a long horn before you initiated your left signal to indicate that you are going to filter into the bus-stop to pick up your wife/gf. For your information, when you gave your signal, you are only about 10 metres from us. Yes, you almost knock us down. Thankfully, 7 of us managed to run onto the pedestrian path in that split second to escape the accident. There are more than 10 witnesses at the bus-stop if that slipped your mind. A colleague quickly jotted your number in both his notepad and mobile phone SMS. A car behind you saw this incident and stopped by us. He told us that he saw no brake light from your car until you drove into the bus-stop lane. He is certain that you were giving a extremely late signal (about 10 metres) to indicate your intention. In addition, he has been following behind your car and is extremely sure you have been travelling at 90km/h, way past the speed limit on that road. Never mind for this incident. My message to this driver: You are lucky you met us, that we are quick enough to literally leaped onto the pedestrian path. What do you think if it was an old man or old woman who is unable to react like us? We have taken your car license plate and should we happen to see such a situation from you again, we will not hestitate to submit your license plate to the Traffic Police for reckless driving. ** Two public members whom we don't even know, resort to pointing their middle finger at you, which you ignored, either you did not see or purposely pretend not to see. Be glad that we give you enough respect not to do likewise. Ed
  10. Scene: Lornie Rd towards Adam Road (03 lanes) Weather: Heavy Downpour Time: abt. Noon Was travelling 55-60km/h on 2nd lane behind a convoy of vans & lorries (later found out the 'leader' was a bike upfront). Decides to filter out & overtake as 1st lane is clear of vehicles. From mirrors, noticed a dark color alfa approaching from far. I filtered right into 1st lane & accelerates. Alfa approaches 'fast & furious' & in seconds, was tailgating me. I checked my speed (am travelling @ 75km/h already). I accelerate more to reach 80km/h but the alfa still does not give up (bugger on his high beam & tailgates me even closer - telling me to f**** off). There was no way for me to filter out due to the convoy of vans & lorries to my left. I only managed to filter back in after abt. 15 secs. The alfa immediately sped off (hitting 100km/h, I supposed) I was mad... veli mad!!!! On such a lousy weather, travelling @80km/h is already my limit (or rather, above normal road limit). What if I decide to jam hard on my brake suddenly??? I don't think the bugger behind can response in time.... Therefore, my advice to the alfa stylo who tailgates me today: BU YAO XIA WO... WHEN I'M AFRAID, I WILL PANIC & CAN'T REFRAIN MY LEG FROM JAMMING HARD ON THE BRAKE SUDDENLY, DON'T FORCE ME..IT'S DANGEROUS.......FOR U, I MEAN... Does any of u guys practice what the alfa stylo did
  11. All that u wan in a car.... brand of merc, exec of E34, sport of crx, the anus of supra... Regards Lester
  12. What an innovative way to speculate By Hugh Chow? LISTEN up! Have you heard the word on the street? Somebody's put out a contract on Saddam Hussein. A futures contract. Futures contracts - those arcane derivatives instruments normally associated with the world of high finance - are now being traded on the Internet over when the Iraqi President is likely to be ousted from power. In recent days, talk of these unusual futures has been doing the rounds among the financial whiz kids at the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation. The Dublin-based online betting firm that offers these contracts says 27 people in Singapore have jumped at the chance to profit from political developments halfway around the world - though most of the traders so far have been based in the United States. tradesports.com is giving aspiring Nick Leesons the chance to buy and sell two futures contracts whose values change in line with the prospects of the Iraqi leader being toppled in the coming months. The first contract allows punters to take a position over whether Mr Saddam will be gone by the end of March. The second extends the effective period until the end of June. Futures contracts are agreements to buy or sell an underlying asset at a specified price and time in the future. They usually derive their value from shares, stock market indexes and commodities. In this case, the 'asset' is the money staked by punters over the likelihood of Mr Saddam surviving until March, or until June. Suppose you stake $50 that he will be gone by March 31. If he is toppled before this date, you would win your money back, plus an additional sum determined by positions taken by other punters. This amount is taken from the losers' accounts and credited to yours. If not, you would lose your $50, which then goes to the punters who got it right. What makes this different from a standard wager is that the 'bets' themselves can be traded because their values change with developing news which could affect the outcome. tradesports.com says most participants choose not to hold these contracts to maturity, but they buy and sell with each new development. For the March 31 contract, for example, the price fell when Mr Saddam appeared to be co-operating with international weapons inspectors - but rose again when empty chemical warheads were discovered south of Baghdad last week. As with conventional exchanges, trading takes place between members. The firm charges a small fee for each transaction. tradesports.com chief executive officer John Delaney said: 'The idea was a result of looking at all the things that have an impact and how passionate people are about this particular issue.'
