  1. Hey everyone, So I’m new to the forum and was wondering what builds you all could suggest to go up against (but hopefully crush) the new 2018 gt and ss 1le. The Chevy runs 4.1 to the fords 4.4 0-60 and both run mid 12 second quarter mile times. I understand both cars are around 50k usd but I’m looking to spend around 40-45k usd. I was looking at maybe importing the gt-r bnr 32 but with costs up to 35k usd that eats up most of the swap/mod budget. I’m looking for something that’s obviously street legal, most importantly reliable, and something I’m not going to have to spend half of a year looking for a specific model/year so something easy to to find with abundant aftermarket support. Thanks!

  3. Toyota Rocks SEMA with 220 MPH Twin Turbo Land Speed Cruiser Land Speed Cruiser Set to Become World’s Fastest SUV TORRANCE, Calif., (November 1, 2016)—Broad shouldered and confident, the vaunted Toyota Land Cruiser authored the rulebook for Sport Utility Vehicles. This year, the Land Speed Cruiser will write a new chapter in the SUV’s history book. Debuting at Toyota’s 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show display, the Land Speed Cruiser is a low-slung, purpose-built sled of a vehicle capable of generating more than 2,000 hp and a top speed of 220 mph that leaves most sports cars in the dust. “From the outside, the Land Speed Cruiser appears quite normal, quite subtle,” said motorsports technical center manager Chuck Wade, who built this vehicle with his team of engineers. “This is what makes it so special. Every single system and component has been touched. The trick is getting the body back onto the heavily modified frame.” The build team surgically extracted the outer shell of a 2016 Land Cruiser. Beneath the surface of the Land Speed Cruiser lies the rugged durability of Toyota’s 3UR-FE 5.7-liter V8. A volleyball-sized Garrett turbocharger flanks each bank of cylinders and breathes directly through front inlets in the specially designed aerodynamic hood. The engine is linked to an ATI transmission. “I love the challenge of taking a vehicle and making it stronger, faster,” Wade added. “Making something beyond outrageous keeps me coming back for more.” “With the Land Speed Cruiser, we are breaking all of the normal conventions of what an SUV should be,” said Steve Appelbaum, Toyota Motor Sales national egagement marketing manager. “This is a vehicle is truly a feat of engineering.” The Land Speed Cruiser is Toyota’s answer to the extreme. The 2017 Land Cruiser represents the present, and the first generation 1961 Land Cruiser harkens back to the past. These three distinctly different Land Cruisers—along with numerous other Toyota, specialty vehicles—can be seen in the Toyota display booth (#24800) in Central Hall and on the Patio Annex of the Las Vegas Convention Center, November 1-4, 2016. .......................................... The Toyota Land Cruiser is known for many things, like toughness and durability, but speed is not among the SUV's chief attributes. Until now, that is. Toyota traveled to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas with a rather special version of its Land Cruiser in tow -- the Land Speed Cruiser. And, as that name implies, the Land Speed Cruiser is very fast. According to Toyota, the Land Speed Cruiser will top out at 220mph, besting most super cars available today. Getting a behemoth SUV to travel at that speed was no easy task however, requiring significant modification to the truck's chassis and suspension setup. The Land Cruiser's 381-horsepower 5.7L V8 also required a shot in order to prepare it for Land Speed Cruiser duty. Although the same basic architecture remains, Toyota was able to lift the V8's horsepower rating to more than 2,000 horsepower with the help of a pair of turbochargers said to be the size of volleyballs. A special transmission was installed to handle the power. "With the Land Speed Cruiser, we are breaking all of the normal conventions of what an SUV should be," said Steve Appelbaum, Toyota Motor Sales national marketing manager. "This is a vehicle is truly a feat of engineering."
  4. I was travelling down Lentor towards Ang Mo Kio when I noticed a speed camera deployed on the pedestrian overhead bridge just outside bullion park. The warden was about 2 meters away from the camera, looks like he is stretching himself abit and not physically manning the camera. In the past, I always see the warden physically looking thru the camera when operating it. I was doing 120km/h about 400 meters away before I spotted the camera and braked to slow down to around 80km/h. Do I get zapped? Btw, I'll be checking the TP's website and keep u guys updated on the outcome for information's sake.

  6. From ST Forum: Get speed limits right Published on Feb 28, 2014 I HOPE the Land Transport Authority will consider reviewing the speed limits on our roads, such that they truly reflect actual travelling speeds. On several roads, the speed limits may be set too low, resulting in motorists being fined for driving at speeds that are probably safe. For example, Lentor Avenue has a speed limit of 70kmh. Driving along this stretch at this speed during non-peak hours, I was overtaken by every vehicle on the road, including a bus. My understanding of the speed limit is that it represents the maximum speed at which a vehicle may travel safely along a certain road. However, this does not seem to be the case on our roads. Along certain long stretches without traffic lights, such as Thomson Road and Lornie Road, vehicles are cruising at average speeds of about 10kmh to 20kmh above the limit. While speeding kills, there is a difference between driving at more than 100kmh and at 80kmh. Along certain roads, motorists need to peer constantly at their speedometers to keep within the speed limits, for fear of being caught by a speed camera or speed trap set up by the Traffic Police. A recent road trip in Tasmania made me realise how the speed limits there accurately reflect travelling speeds. At hairpin bends, the limits drop to as low as 30kmh to 40kmh. Along straight stretches outside the town area, the limits increase to reasonable levels like 80kmh. I learnt to respect the limits, especially the lower ones as they meant the road ahead was hazardous. It is time to get our limits right. 11. Hi all, I encountered a man in blue, wearing a yellow reflective jacket, with a DSLR looking camera in the tunnel, facing oncoming traffic. Is this a mobile speed camera being held by a TP or policeman? It was after the normal fixed mounted camera in the KPE tunnel. Are they allowed to catch people in there like that? Or is it a surveyor? He was alone.
  12. This morning while going into CBD on nicoll highway, at that very famous bridge, spanning from promenade MRT to concourse, got white ants on ops... becos their van parked at the reserved bay. as i inched forward, i saw opposite cars zooming... some very obviously over the 70kph limit how to warn them of the impending danger? i tried to flash highbeam, but opposite cannot see clearly. instead the one in front of me thought i got bad intention. - about 15min later while heading in the same road in the opposite direction, i saw the white ant hiding behind the pillar. he was hard to spot from far, really. i tried to maintain my speed at about 65kph, and wind down window and waving my hands, even sounding the horns... but others thought i road-hogger and crazy.... some overtake and zoom past me, maybe kena neoprinted. one of the taxi jam the brakes near the bridge when he/she realised got white ant... dont know kena or not feeling uneasy, i know i definitely didnt get snapped, but the others...
  13. Hi all I have a 2007 Nissan Latio (Premium with CVT gearbox) that produces rumbling noise at low speed or when the engine is experiencing load. The noise is especially evident at cold start and the noise got louder over the past whole year. I brought it to a mechanic and was told initially that the engine mounting might be damaged. Then when i urged the mechanic to confirm again, I was told that the catalytic converter might be the one vibrating and causing the issue. Any bro here got the same problem as me? anyone know whats wrong?

  21. Hello everyone, What are the possible causes for a CEL and high idle speed after engine rebuild? CEL came on 4 times over a span of 3 days and 250km. Returned to workshop and mechanic said there it was loose wiring. ECU was reset and CEL came on again after 19km, idle speed is still high. FC has also increased tremendously. Thanks. AC on AC off
  22. We all know about the Nissan GT-R and its need for speed. Now the 'Godzilla' is all set to get wickedly faster with Nismo - the performance arm of Nissan - unveiling the GT-R Nismo. There have been no spy shots whatsoever, so the closest we could get are pictures of the GT-R Track Edition. The future Nismo version will be based on the 2014 GT-R and will feature a series of updates that will transform the 'Godzilla' into a real track machine, while keeping it perfectly suitable for the road. On the exterior, Nismo will work on improving the car's aerodynamics, so lower front and rear bumpers, wider wings and sill side skirts, plus a huge wing at the rear is to be expected. Inside the car, the GT-R Nismo will most likely get special suede-trimmed Nismo sports seats with red stitching, plus a redesigned steering wheel, pedals, gauges and gear knob. Under the hood, the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 engine delivers at least 20 horses more than the standard 550bhp. There have been rumours that the GT-R Nismo will hit 100km/h in two seconds. Wait a second. The current GT-R already does the century sprint in three. Wouldn't that mean that the GT-R Nismo will be able to outsprint a 1,200bhp Bugatti Veyron Super Sport over short distances? Well, as exciting as the GT-R Nismo is going to be, we're having a hard time accepting that it will be able to hit 100km/h in two seconds flat, at least on street tyres. What do you think?
