  1. Dont speed ......... because you never know , See CLIP
  2. If the police were to run a highly visible, and well publicised "anti speeding campaign" that saw much more stringent enforcement, more cameras on the road, lesser allowance for over the limit, and more mobile patrols, what would you consider the best measure of success of the campaign?
  3. I drove for 20 years and no speeding tickets... Last week kenna 2. One is over by 20-30km/hr on SLE (limit 90) and another is over by 1-20km/hr on Adam road (limit 70). can appeal or not? I got very good record for like 20 years... over by 1-20 also can catch one meh?
  4. Are you one of the 55 "heroes"? More motorists have been caught speeding at a stretch of the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) that has retained its 70-kilometre per hour speed limit. Singapore SINGAPORE: More motorists have been caught speeding at a stretch of the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) that has retained its 70-kilometre per hour speed limit. The speed limit for the KPE was raised to 80 kilometres per hour on December 29 last year, except for a stretch near the Upper Paya Lebar Road north bound exit and the Airport Road south bound exit. In a written response to a Parliamentary question from MP for Tampines GRC Baey Yam Keng, Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew said that last month, about 55 motorists were caught speeding daily, up from about 30 per day in October last year. Mr Baey had also asked whether there is a need to enhance the signs to remind motorists of the lower speed limit. Mr Lui said the Land Transport Authority will add two pairs of "Reduce Speed Now" signs along the stretches approaching the location. This is on top of the existing signs and road markings. - CNA/al (source: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/more-motorists-caught/1001338.html )

  6. What kind of imbecile drives this fast? The thought must have crossed your mind at least once whenever you witness a Ferrari or Lamborghini blazing past. And I don’t blame you. I’ve even muttered the (rare) expletive when I encounter such behaviour. However, my column this month isn’t about supercar owners and their driving habits. Except for the proverbial bad penny, which turns up once in a blue moon, the sports car drivers I know all conduct themselves pretty well. On the other hand, the individuals behind the wheel of commercial vehicles– trucks, lorries, vans and trailers – have been getting on my nerves. Again, I’m not saying that every one of them behaves in the same manner, but the increasing number of times I’ve seen huge trucks zoom past me (and vans travelling in front of my car at high speeds) isn’t only highly irritating, but also worrying. Take a trip down the AYE (in the direction of the ECP) and you’ll see what I mean. There will be commercial vehicles in every lane, except the rightmost one, for much of the way. Come to think of it, I’ve also seen them in said lane –overtaking other vehicles at speeds way in excess of the regulatory limit. The loads that are ferried by these vehicles weigh tonnes – and I cannot imagine the extent of the carnage should they get into accidents. During one rainy October evening on the Keppel Viaduct (this stretch is a great place to catch these offenders); I got the scare of my life. A truck carrying a load of earth (bits and pieces were falling out of the back) sped past on my left and then swerved into my lane suddenly. This action caused it to oversteer, and its tail slid from left to right before the driver (who surely must have been praying, because I sure was) managed to get it under control. I tell you, I was so sure it was going to tip over that I was already looking around to see where to steer my car. At that juncture, I was even prepared to perform a handbrake turn if the need arose. Thankfully, I didn’t have to. The whole thing could easily have been avoided if Mr Stupid Truck Driver stuck to the speed limit, and was mindful of the sheer size and weight of his vehicle. I know the authorities are aware of the potential danger these vehicles pose to road users, but something more needs to be done to punish the law-breakers. For a start, I’m all for increased policing, especially along the roads that these drivers frequent. And before you get all jumpy at my suggestion (as this would also mean that every driver will come under heavier scrutiny), I have one final thing to add: Is there really any need to speed? Tony also recommends that all commercial vehicles to be fitted with speed limiters – just like the ones installed in Formula One race cars – that will prevent them from exceeding a preset limit while they’re on the road. This article was written by Tony Tan, freelance writer for Torque.
  7. Did a search, didn't see this posted. Just wanted to share with MCF-ers. Careful when speeding, especially in places with blindspots. 110kmph might not be excessive speed on some roads (like highway), but 50kmph might be excessive speed on other roads (like school zones). Drive safe! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oK0f0go72rw
  8. Time: 515am / 07 Nov 2013 Outside the JC and near sport school going up to SLE-BKE ( right ) and SLE-CTE ( left ) I was in the NV200 behind you and saw an XF overtaking you because you are slow and road hogging all the way to the traffic light. Also saw that you not happy and sped up to around 120km/hour just when entering the devil bend up to SLE, all this when the nice XF politely cut back into left lane and you sped up in your right lane and "beat" the XF who was slowing down. You were road hogging all the way and suddenly sprung to life when someone overtake you. Don't be a loser. When inside SLE, you attempted to race and rev your puny engine and weave dangerously in and out of lanes without signals when there are so many bikes around. The XF went slowly with signal to the most right and take off from there. Look, despite all that rev and stir, my NV 200 drives normally and eventually is still just behind you as there are many buses and lorries in the morning. When we both enter BKE, you were still trying to find that XF desperately to race with. And you know what? When we both enter BKE from SLE, I already saw the XF exiting Mandai as I think he is avoiding a race with you so as not to make you malu early in the morning How are you gota "race" with someone when you are as slow as a NV 200 and when you enter the expressway to "play", your kawan has already sped all the way into the next exit? If you want to race, race with a 1.6 Honda Civic or Lancer 1.5 or Vios 1.5 somewhere else, not on Singapore roads. Thank you.
  9. Complaints against motor vehicle dealers have accelerated this year, and Singapore's consumer watchdog wants the industry to take action. The Consumers Association of Singapore (Case) received 2,438 complaints against the motor vehicle industry from January to September. This already exceeds the 2,255 made in the whole of last year - when it topped Case's list of most-complained about industries for the first time. Most of the complaints were aimed at used car dealers. Common gripes included defective parts, late delivery, refusing to repair defects and keeping customers' deposits when loans were not approved. To mitigate the problem, Case wants all members of the Singapore Vehicle Traders Association (SVTA) to provide after-sales service, including repairs. It also wants them to pay for third-party inspections of all cars and repair any defects before selling them. 10. When a Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) captain was sentenced for speeding at 195km/h on May 8, he was not worried about the one-year driving disqualification. Instead, Yang Chee Hwa wanted the district court to lower his maximum $1,000 fine, because it would have an adverse effect on his promotion prospects and performance bonuses. But in the judgment released this week, District Judge John Ng said Yang should have to bear the consequences of his irresponsible act. He said: "I could not justifiably order him to pay a fine of $999 for him to avoid the collateral consequences of his conviction and sentence. The maximum fine and one-year disqualification are also to serve as a general deterrence to other speedsters." Source: http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/...jected-20130530

    What a close shave!

The above video best describes the phrase "escaping by the skin of your teeth". The incident took place in China on 22 Jan 2013 in the city of Linhai, Zhejiang Province. A biker was waiting at a cross junction when a container truck took a hard left turn and overturned. The biker, sensing the imminent disaster, moved his bike slightly backwards. Fortunately, the container missed him slightly and he escaped unharmed. Looking at the impact, the poor man might have a ringing tone in his ears for the next few hours but that is better than becoming a piece of human pancake. While waiting at the traffic junction, the bike was actually stationed beyond the white line, which I believe he is not supposed to do so although I am not very familiar with the Chinese traffic rules. After this encounter, I guess he would be more prudent.
  16. Wah....the guy on the bike damn blardy lucky. See, speed, look what happens http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTfJnHXeDZw
  17. Former midfielder Ballack unable to pay speeding fine LONDON -A lawyer for Michael Ballack claimed yesterday that the former Chelsea midfield player could not afford to pay a speeding fine because he is unemployed. The Daily Telegraph reported that the former Germany captain was caught by a speed camera doing 210kmh in his four-wheel drive Audi U7 on a Spanish motorway near the resort town of Trujillo on Oct 17. The limit for that stretch of road is 120kmh. At his initial court hearing the day after his arrest, his legal team were told that he faced a two-year driving ban and an
