  1. Hi, I would like to reach out to all of you who owns a JDM sports car meet, like how our neighbours have it. Even if yours is not a sport car but of rarity, please include yourself in too. We could mass order parts which would be cheaper to buy and ship from the same distributor in Japan, US or UK. TUNING? Aim is to bring back the nostalgic sports car meets back in the days of Kallang Carpark. Drift outings or practice Autox, Gymkana at our neighbours or safe location. Which may have a food destination. If you are feeling charitable we could organise something for social welfare as well. Is an open discussion and I would like to start the ball rolling. It also would be interesting to see what gems we have in Singapore as well. If your car is not in there like Daihatsu or Datsun, kindly include. Honda Mazda 1. But IMO should give cash better...then go buy my drumstick...oops! http://www.todayonline.com/sports/activesg100-singaporeans-play-sport ActiveSG$100 for Singaporeans to play sport SINGAPORE — Singaporeans and permanent residents who are ActiveSG members will each receive ActiveSG$100 to sign up for sports programmes and utilise facilities at the various ActiveSG Sports Centres islandwide. This was announced by Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong at the official launch of ActiveSG, a national drive to make sports more accessible, relevant and affordable here, at the Jurong West Sports Centre today (Apr 26). Already, 30,000 people have activated their membership. “Singaporeans from all walks of life, regardless of age, skill level, or physical ability can lead an active lifestyle through sports. They can come together to learn, train, compete in a range of sports,” said Mr Wong. “We will credit all ActiveSG members with ActiveSG$100 to help kick-start their fitness routine. I hope that Singaporeans will come onboard to embrace this movement and share this with their family and friends too so that we can all get active and Live Better Through Sport.” Also present at the launch were Singapore National Olympic Council Vice-President and International Olympic Committee Finance Commission chief Ng Ser Miang, and Richard Seow, Chairman of Sport Singapore — formerly known as the Singapore Sports Council. Rebranded from the “Super Sports Club” concept under Vision 2030, the long-term blueprint for sports in Singapore, ActiveSG aims to create a sporting ecosystem that provides innovative and experiential sports-related programmes at sports centres islandwide. Registered ActiveSG members will enjoy benefits, including priority booking of facilities and complimentary trial classes. These can be done through its new Membership Management System (MMS). Members can also use the MMS as a network to form interest groups, signing up for social events, forming sports leagues and zonal affiliation for members. ActiveSG will also be the sole provider of new fitness programmes into Singapore such as Piloxing and Masala Bhangra to meet the rising demand for studio fitness regimes, while ActiveSG Sports Centres will eventually include additional facilities and services, including Aqua Spinning for a cycling workout that uses water resistance, and Flippa Ball, a modiified version of water polo for children. To help promote ActiveSG, open houses will also be held from 9am to 6pm at the Sengkang Sports Centre on Sunday (Apr 27), Yio Chu Kang Sports Centre (May 3), Bishan Sports Centre (May 4) and the Pasir Ris Sports Centre (May 10). Singaporeans and permanent residents can sign-up as an ActiveSG member via www.myactivesg.com or at any of the Sports Centres islandwide.
  10. my friend has this rare sports car, only one in singapore, he does not dare to service it at normal workshop because he scared those mechanics not well versed with the car and later cause more problems. does anyone know any reliable workshop that loves to tinker with those rare cars, e.g. classic vintage cars, kit cars etc. the mechanic must be willing to learn and most importantly treat it with care. my friend brought it to a previous workshop the last time and the mechanic spoiled his headlight cover because he simply did not know how to open it. i cannot divulge the exact car model because it will expose my friend and he is those low profile type. all i can say is it is a continental marque. thanks for the guru's advice.

  13. http://www.todayonline.com/voices/noisy-luxury-sports-cars-bad-illegally-modified-vehicles "I live in the River Valley neighbourhood. On several occasions, my family has been awoken by the sound of motor-revving as a sports car speeds along in the wee hours. I understand that stock models of luxury sports cars sold here can reach ear-splitting levels even without illegal modifications. It is said on some websites that a Ferrari or Lamborghini can reach up to 90 or 100 decibels. Why are the authorities cracking down only on illegal modifications when luxury sports cars sold here can generate the same or even higher noise levels? Are these car owners given a free pass, essentially?"
  14. Read this article on the way to work today - He's got some interesting comments - What resonates most with me are the observations about school sports and medals - this very much reflects my own experience. For my child's school, have got "trials" to join the CCA (not the school team, but simply the CCA) My neighbour's son was rejected from two CCA that he wanted to join.

  18. At the height of the Commonwealth Games, Singapore looks set to have one of their best games ever. This is fantastic and awesome, and I want to offer the joy and hugs to the whole of Team Singapore. With the games ongoing - I decided to take a look at some stuff so that I could write a blog post about Facebook Support for Sports teams - and it threw up some interesting things... What I see in this simple and straight forward comparison - there is a comparative dearth of support for local teams - why do you think this is, and what can be done about it? here's another excerpt from my post.. In Singapore – there are 218,000 Man U facebook fans and 122,000 Liverpool fans (ranking 1 and 2 respectively in the “Sports” category as measured by Socialbakers). There are FIVE “non Singapore” teams in the top 10. Compare this to New Zealand – the first “Non New Zealand” sports page is the (Australian) NRL – a league that has a New Zealand team competing at number 5. The highest ranking page with no direct New Zealand link is the NBA (American Professional Basketball) at number 9. The first “non New Zealand” TEAM comes in at number 12 (the LA Lakers) Measuring the comparative success using the Commonwealth Games as a proxy - New Zealand has thirty something medals, to Singapore's 6. (some of this is due to a bigger population, with NZ at 4.4 million compared to Singapore's 3.3 million citizens) .

  22. Hi, I am a newbie here... and newbie to car stuff also. My honda jazz 1.4 will be coming in a few days time. I want to change the default rims and tyres to better ones and thus need some advice. Default is 175/65R14, I was thinking to changing to 15" will do. Budget is about 1K+ I read the forum here and is interested in the Falken Azenis ST115 and OZ F1 Cup. Experts please advice if this is okay, how much it cost, where is the best shop to have it change. Also, I can't seem to find from the website the ST115 has 15", is it true? Or are the specs abroad any different. If I change to 15", the specs should be 185/55R15 rite? Is there such a specs or must I change to some other specs? Your advice is much appreciated.
