  1. Burnt car is now just before exit 7B Jln Bahagia at the road shoulder. A bit of jam now. Bros on the expressway be patient.
  2. A lot of people still equate the term sports car to one that offers fire-breathing, neck-breaking performance. One that is measured in 0-100km/h sprint times and top speeds. But is that always so? Take the car pictured above, for example. The Kia Forte Koup. I know that it is a controversial topic, but many still deride the Koup for its lack of outright grunt. That is despite its other positive qualities, like its sweet handling and smashing good looks. So what if it doesn't go to 100km/h in a blink of an eye? Performance shouldn't be the be-all-and-end-all for a so-called sports car. The Rolls-Royce Phantom can hit 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds. I wouldn't call it a sports car. Similarly, the Mazda MX-5 doesn't exactly have a powerful engine, but its driving and handling set-up can easily put many other faster cars to shame in the corners. 'Sports' is so much more than outright performance. It also has to have balance, involvement, engaging the driver such that he feels joy when driving. Because that's what driving is all about; the experience. I guess this perspective of 'faster is better' mirrors a lot of Singapore society. Many people only see the end, the destination, and want to reach there quickly, for whatever reason. Sometimes, it's the journey itself that really counts, and gives you the most pleasure. Some things are better when enjoyed slowly, at your own pace.
  3. Have a few questions on this tape (Kinesiology Tape) Just wanna find out any friends in MCF used this before? It's kind of colorful plaster for sports. I've got bad shoulder pain, and my inner thigh muscle always swell like a water bag after I kicked a ball. I remember once I saw an article saying this tapes are very effective......... - Anyone knows where to get it? - Anyone use this before and how's the outcome? - Is it true that there are different methods pasting the tapes? Kindly share if you come across this.....TY

  5. Hi to all those who owns Kei Sports Cars in SG. Looking at owners of Suzuki Cappuccino, Honda Beat, Daihatsu Copen, Subaru RX-R. 660cc SPORTS Cars and below. Seems like there are no racings organisations here nor Kei car sports club. I was thinking to set up one and even a forum. Am looking to split the sports enthusiast from the normal city car drivers. Hoping to get a reponse from you guys and hopefully we can work something out to make our Kei Sports Car ownership more enjoyable. Cheers!
  6. Land is expensive in SGP. Maybe sports which require the least square meter per player are more suitable as they take up less land? A big soccer field only allow less than 30 players (including referees). Badminton takes up less space per player compared with soccer. Table tennis does even better than badminton. On the other hand, if we include the handcounts of spectators, soccer is not too bad. Golf takes up lots of space per player. Fishing especially indoor ponds is not too space-consuming. The best (ie least space) is computer games? Talking about golf, even though MCF may have golfers, personally i feel for a tiny island, we have too many golf courses. Part of the land currently occupied by Laguna / Tanah Merah golf course was supposed to be used for a F1 track way back.

The acting minister unveils a new initiative called "Vision 2030", where sports will be used as a strategy for individual development, community bonding and national building in the next two decades. -- ST PHOTO: KEVIN LIM HOW would you improve the sporting scene in Singapore? The government wants to hear from you over the next few years, as it formulates a national sports masterplan that will span the next two decades. Called Vision 2030, the aim is to harness the power of sports to aid individual development, community bonding and nation building. "We want the public to participate actively in co-creating Vision 2030 because we believe everyone has a stake in it," said Mr Chan Chun Sing, the Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports on Monday. "This brings us to the next lap for sports - by everyone, for everyone, and with everyone." The first stage of the sports masterplan will be ready by early next year. From Tuesday, the public can share its ideas and feedback at www.vision2030.sg. http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_691910.html

  20. LUXEMBOURG - Major sports events such as soccer's World Cup will be available to all television viewers in Britain and Belgium after Fifa lost a legal challenge on Thursday. The General Court, the European Union's second highest court, dismissed a similar challenge by European soccer's governing body, UEFA, against a decision by British authorities to protect broadcast of the European Championship finals. 'A member state may, in certain circumstances, prohibit the exclusive broadcast of all World Cup and Euro football matches on pay television, in order to allow the general public to follow those events on free television,' the Court said. It said such restrictions were justified by the public's right to information and the need to ensure wide access to TV broadcasts. Under an EU directive, EU countries are allowed to draw up a list of events of national interest or 'crown jewels' for broadcast on free-to-air stations, Such events include the Olympic Games, the football World Cup, the European Championships, England's FA Cup and the Wimbledon tennis championships. Fifa was contesting a 2007 Commission decision allowing Belgium and Britain to reserve broadcasting rights for the World Cup to free-to-air TV stations. Fifa and UEFA argued that the regime interferes with their property rights, especially when some countries broadcast all matches even though their national teams do not play in some of the events. The sports bodies also argue that they get less money from free-to-air TV broadcasts, which in turn would have a knock-on effect on investments and attracting world-class players and hence the quality of the games. Proponents say allowing everybody to watch sports events will increase interest in the games. 'We welcome the decision from the EU and continue to support the principle of protecting sports events for free to air coverage,' a spokesman for Britain's Culture, Media and Sport department said. -- REUTERS

  25. Hi all, I'm just wondering for those of you that have had any experience with selling off a first hand "sports model" car, how badly hit were you by depreciation? Compared with selling off a normal model car's usual depreciation. I'm talking about cars like: Misubishi Evo, Subaru WRX Sti, Renault Megane R26/27, Ford Focus ST, VW GTI, Audi TTS, Mazda 6 MPS... Basically the types of cars that have base models, at MUCH cheaper prices e.g. Mazda 6 vs 6 MPS, or Lancer Ex vs Evo, whether the depreciation hit was much greater. Especially interested in continental cars that have a smaller niche following like the focus ST and renault R26/27. I know GTI's tend to hold their value really well. Single make sports cars that have no road car equivalents (e.g. Nissan 350Z, Honda S2000, RX-8) are less similar i think, because there is no alternative. Thanks for all your help!!
