  4. More info @ http://www.dunloptires.com/catalog/direzza...Z1StarSpec.html AKRON, Ohio -- Fresh off the starting line, Dunlop's Direzza Sport Z1 ultra-performance tire already has a star next to its name in 2008. A star has always implied something special, and on the new Direzza Sport Z1 "Star Spec" summer tire, the star designation carries prestigious cachet. For example, "Star Spec" helps provide faster lap times from the start and "consistent grip on ensuing laps" in sanctioned events, according to Matt Neidert, performance tire brand manager for Dunlop in North America. The new tire features the "Star Spec" tread compound, which helps a performance car's initial dry grip during sanctioned amateur driving events, such as autocross and high-performance track-events hosted by regional car clubs. The new Direzza Sport Z1 "Star Spec" is available now, qualifying it for use in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) national events. According to section 13.3 of the 2008 SCCA SOLO rules, tires must be readily available by April 30 to qualify. The "Star Spec" predecessor won SCCA's hotly contested Street Touring Ultra class at the San Diego National Tour on Sunday. Drivers Thomas Kenna and Richard Jung set the fastest overall times for street tires with a first and fourth place. The Southern California duo raced on full treads, while competitors used shaved tires. "'Star Spec' means impressive dry grip out of the gate. Driving enthusiasts won't have to wait for their tires to 'come in' at the beginning of an event, helping to provide an edge over the field. This is also great news for owners of smaller vehicles, who sometimes struggle to work their tires up to the point of peak grip," Neidert said. Direzza Sport Z1 "Star Spec" is a DOT-approved summer performance tire for hard-core driving enthusiasts and car-club members. The tire helps deliver superb dry traction and handling at regional car-club events like track days, driving schools, and autocross. A high-response directional tread pattern with circumferential grooves helps create a consistent contact patch on the pavement for a smooth feel and seamless transition. An "optimal mold shape" helps provide a consistent footprint shape and uniform pressure distribution across the footprint for enhanced cornering, he said. The tire also features JointLess Band technology to help enable smooth performance at highway speeds, he added. Direzza Sport Z1 "Star Spec," available in 20 sizes with rim diameters from 15 to 18 inches, replaces the Direzza Sport Z1, which was introduced in August 2007. Source: Dunlop Tires
  5. $$$ Not Enough 2 There won't be any superstars in Jack Neo's latest movie Money No Enough 2, but he is sure that one of his 'leads' will be the talk of the town. That 'lead' is the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) system, which is a main talking point in the movie. 'I wrote the script last year in October, and we started filming in March this year. I didn't mean to bring up the ERP in my movie on purpose,' the 48-year-old film-maker told my paper yesterday after a press conference at the National Library. The Land Transport Authority had announced that more ERP gantries would be constructed and revisions would be made to the rate structure, but only in January this year. Perhaps, this is yet another indication of the veteran director's knack for articulating matters closest to the average Singaporean's heart. But he was quick to clarify: 'I'm not making a political statement; I'm just using humour to bring across Singaporeans' viewpoints.' Ten years ago, he hit the nail on the head with Money No Enough, which he scripted and starred in. It was his maiden movie as a scriptwriter. The story, which revolved around three friends with various financial struggles, struck a chord with Singaporeans, who were then coping with the aftermath of the Asian financial crisis. It remains Singapore's highest-grossing local film, with box-office earnings of $5.84 million. Money No Enough 2 is about three brothers from varying income backgrounds who have to take care of their elderly mother through good times and bad. While the three leads - comedians Mark Lee, 39, Henry Thia, 56, and Jack Neo himself - have not changed, they play different characters this time. And while he hopes to replicate the same box-office success as its predecessor, Neo says he is more interested to document Singaporeans' mindset in these financially tough times, what with food and fuel price hikes. He said: 'Ten years ago, people were concerned about being able to afford daily necessities. Now, I want the movie to explore people's changing perceptions towards money.'
  6. July 10, 2008 Probe into M'sian budget hotels filming couples in sex acts MALAYSIAN police will investigate claims that budget hotels in Klang are being used to film couples having sex and selling the footage to pornographic VCD and DVD sellers. Klang Asst Commissioner Mohamad Mat Yusop said police will follow up on a report in a Malay daily that rooms at these hotels are fitted with hidden cameras placed in the television set and air-condition unit to capture couple in the sex act. 'The report in the Malay daily is the first that we have heard of such incidents taking place and since it is illegal to have such cameras in hotel rooms we will definitely carry out investigation soon,' he said. He said the making and selling of pornographic VCDs and DVDs was another offence and the police would put a stop to it if the claims were true. The DVDs and VCDs were sold for between RM10 (S$4.19) and RM18 each and featured mostly teenagers and students from institutions of higher learning. The Malay newspaper report said that a 23 volume set of DVDs of the sex romp could fetch RM3,000, besides the royalties for each copy sold. -- The Star/ANN. http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/...ory_256433.html

  10. Hi guys, Need to ask some questions. I'm on Krisflyer membership. Usually I redeem only on SQ flights. It's only recently I went to the star alliance website and found that you can actually redeem other airlines' tickets using your KF points. I have a few questions: 1) Can it be cheaper to redeem other airlines using the KF points? 2) Any disadvantages / advantages? 3) How do we do it? Via Star Alliance office in SG? 4) What is round the world ticket? Can really fly and stop over to every where in 1 go? Basically I'm thinking of maximise how I use the KF points. Currently if I book online I get a 15% discount which is quite ok but the discount is also reversed if you need to change your return ticket if your departure ticket is consumed. Thinking of going to places like China. For 5hr flight, thinking of going business class with my wife?
