  1. Some people really too free.. not as if i too much money park there whole day with car idling..
  2. Hello everyone, had a scary experience this morning, car could not start. Car's only a year old and battery is good, did a scan with scangauge and there were no error codes. There was cranking but engine just refuses to start, I even checked the spark plugs and they were alright. Then daddy came to the rescue, he depressed acclerator slightly while cranking and engine came to life after some coughing. It sounded rough initiallly but calmed down after a few seconds, there was also white smoke coming out from the exhaust during this period. Drove from changi to clementi after warm up and car felt normal. What could hv caused this and is there a need for any concern? Car is parked outdoors and it had been raining since I last drove it on Saturday. Thanks.
  3. 1. I saw one of those "Start" buttom for sales at a Workshop. They told me they sell but don't install. 2. Any clues on how this works and where to get it done? Thank you. Regards,

  5. Wow, now we gotta contend with using part of our CPF for paying an annuity so we can start getting monthly payments from 85 onwards. Just checked the stats for life expectancy and realised that on the average females live till 81.8 and males live till 78, the median 79.9 for males and females http://www.singstat.gov.sg/stats/keyind.html#popnarea. That means unless you have higher then average life expectancy you will not live to see any payout, and if you do see those few hundred $ payouts when you hit 85 I guess with inflation and cost of medical expenses in future you will be hard pressed to even get by. Quite dissappointed that our highly paid gov wants to implement something like this.
  6. As of today Sony has announced the full Gran Turismo 5 car list. It consists of 10000 cars. At launch it will only have 340 cars while the others will be developed in the future. Polyphony Digital will also develop cars for individual clients. That means in the future we could have any car put into the game for a special price. Of course the damage model will be not present in GT5. Below we are attaching the nearly official carlist of GT5. 7. From BT: Published May 16, 2007 Parallel imports off to strong start this year Grey imports up to April hit 7,755 units against 30,596 for authorised versions SALES of parallel imported cars are accelerating strongly, with registration of the grey imports now accounting for about one out of every four authorised versions. Like hotcakes: Some 1,262 units of the Stream were sold from January to April, or 40 per cent of all Honda PI sales Last year, total sales of parallel imports (PI) hit 16,137 units, compared with authorised distributors' sales of 98,729 units, thus resulting in a ratio then of about 1:6. But in the first four months of this year, that ratio is now closer to 1:4 because the parallel imports collectively sold 7,755 units between January and April, according to the Land Transport Authority (LTA). This is against the authorised distributors' grand total of 30,596, according to the Motor Traders Association of Singapore (MTA). So it looks like 2007 is set to be another record year for the PI trade, which already experienced a boom year in 2006, when total PI sales made up an unprecedented 13.8 per cent of all new cars registered here. Of these, Toyota and Honda grey imports made up a combined 91 per cent. Total sales in 2005 were only 6,282 units. Even then, 2005's volume was a rebound from 2004, when the parallel import scene was on the verge of collapse after the government cracked down on rampant under-declaration of open market value and other high jinks. That year, PI cars posted a volume of only about 4,000 units, down from 2003's estimated 7,500 units. In the first four months of this year, the two most popular PI makes continued to be Toyota (3,723 units) and Honda (3,110). Together, these two Japanese brands made up 88 per cent of all PI units registered, down from the 91 per cent for the whole of 2006. As usual, the most popular PI model was the Toyota Wish MPV at 1,437 units, or 38.6 per cent of all Toyota PI cars sold. The Wish is not offered by authorised distributor Borneo Motors Singapore. More interestingly, though, overall sales of Honda PI cars were very close to those of authorised distributor Kah Motor, or a phenomenal 3,110 units against 3,382. This is probably due to the fact that the PIs have managed to bring in a Honda model with huge mass market appeal. All signs, of course, point to the Stream MPV, of which 1,262 units were sold from January to April, or 40.6 per cent of all Honda PI sales. This percentage is even higher than that of the perennially popular Wish and is likely to be because the Stream is a newer model. But the PIs may not have it so good for long. Kah Motor will be driving its authorised version of the Stream into its showrooms by the end of this month, with deliveries expected to begin as early as in July/August. Kah Motor says its Stream is properly set up for export specifications and homologated to full Euro 2 exhaust emission regulations. The latter required Honda Japan to test for proven reliability of the gearbox and other drivetrain components - an improvement over the domestic Japanese model offered by the PIs. So some interesting fact form the above report: 1) The ratio of PI cars to AD cars is 1:4 2) The ratio of PI Honda to AD Honda is almost 1:1 3) The ratio of PI Toyota to AD Toyota is about 1:2 4) 2 most popular PI makes continued to be Toyota (3,723 units) and Honda (3,110). 5) Most popular PI model was the Toyota Wish MPV at 1,437 6) For Stream MPV, 1,262 units were sold So, AD, please wake up and give us some model that we want

  9. Push-Start a Car Push-starting a car is used to start a car with a weak battery or malfunctioning starter motor. This technique is used in emergency situations when the proper aid is not available. Note, though, that only cars with manual transmissions can be started this way. Precautions: - Certain manufacturers of specific models do not recommend starting your car this way. Check your owner's manual for warnings. - Even though one person can push-start a car, especially when parked on an incline, it's recommended that you seek help from other persons. Steps: Make sure that the problem is either the battery or the starter. Plan to have at least one person sitting in the driver's seat and one person pushing. Midsize and large cars require two or three people to push, depending on the strength of the people and whether or not the car is parked on an incline. Turn off all accessories (radio, wipers, etc.). Turn the key to the "on" position. Depress the clutch pedal with your foot. Put the transmission in first or second gear. Release the hand brake and the foot brake. Note that the people pushing need to get the car rolling as fast as they can. This works best down a hill or an incline. Release the clutch pedal while giving the engine a little gas with the gas pedal once the car is moving about as fast as you can run. The engine should start.
  10. My car has 1) 1 layer of DG101 2) 7 layers of DG105 sealant 3) 2 layers of Collinite 845 4) 1 layer of Collinite 476 Can I just keep topping up more wax or when should I strip everything off and start again?
  11. How to Jump Start a Vehicle with a Dead Battery? A dead battery can be a bummer. It can also be a dangerous job jump starting it. Some do it differently. This is how I do it. Difficulty Level: average Time Required: 15 minutes -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's How: Make sure both batteries are the same voltage. Bring the running vehicle up to the front of the dead vehicle. They must not tough. Make sure all emergency brakes are applied and all vehicles are in either park or neutral. Cover the cell caps with a rag. Do not cover the terminals. Put on some safety glasses. Get your jumper cables. Make sure they are good ones with no frays anywhere. Connect one red handle clamp of one end of the jumper cables to the positive side of the dead battery. Connect the black handle clamp of the same end of the jumper cables to a good ground besides the negative side of the good battery. An alternator bracket usually works well. Take the red handle clamp on the other end of the jumper cables and connect it to the positive side of the good battery. Connect the remaining black handle clamp to the negative side of the good battery. Start engine of starting vehicle. Start dead vehicle. If it does start right away rev up the running vehicle a little and just let it run for about ten minutes charging up the dead battery a little. Then try again. If this doesn't work charge the dead battery with a battery charger. You should do this slowly over night. If this doesn't work the dead battery probably needs to be replaced. Tips: Be careful not to cause a spark. This could make a battery blow up.
  12. I think this kind of thread is all over this section. But i still want to ask the same questions. Where to start off for new white car ? So that the car can be shiny shiny all the time. 19. Hi guys, I am sure I heard of this problem before and I am now facing it too. Sometimes, (not always) when I cranked up the car, the RPM shoot to about 2000 before coming back to 900. Normally, it goes to only 1300-1400 I have told SA about this, they did something and now it is back to square one. Anyone has this problem please comment. Thanks

  22. quick query folks. connected the jump start cables incorrectly yesterday while helping a friend jump start his car. instead of grounding the cable at the target, we grounded it at the source. his car (the target) started successfully. but wondering if there'll be any problems with my ride cos of the connection error. pls advise.
  23. Had some fun over the weekend at Sepang. I only managed to grab 2 quick shots cos I totally forgot about my camera that was in the bag. These shots were taken just as I was about to leave the place.
  24. My car had this problem for quite some times since being rear-ended. Whenever I start my car, the rpm was at 200 (that's very low) for few minutes before slowly up to around 400. After I drive for quite some distance, the rpm will then stay at normal 800. Is it due to faulty spark plug cable or dirty plugs?
  25. have noise from the amp when engine start, engine stop is ok,the noise dont follow the engine rpm, anyone out there can recommend me a good line suppressor, and how much the price, Thanks!
