  1. The new rules on giving way to buses at bus stop (with big yellow 'give way' marking painted on the road) take effect on Sat, 20/12/08 and on certain stretch of road (example : AMK Ave 8) for 6 months period. While I was driving along AMK Ave 8 last Sat, I saw a TP camera standing after the bus stop (at traffic light junction along AMK Ave 8 and Bus Interchange) clicking away. The questions I like to ask is : Should I give way (if I travel on the left lane) to the bus coming out from the bus stop even the road ahead are free of vehicles ? (which is : stop suddently just to give way to buses) or, I give way only when the traffic ahead is in conjestion for the bus to leave the bus stop ? Your views is very much appreciated. Cheers ..... (Why I asked this : cos, saw the TP man taking pictures of vehicles when bus is moving out from bus stop while the traffic ahead is free flowing on all 3 lanes)

  5. A plea to all (again) Today I went past what looked like a fatal accident on the TPE (towards ECP, near Buangkok) Was surprised to note that nobody that had witnessed the accident had stopped to be witness render assistance. PLEASE, just imagine that you were the injured party / family - wouldn't you like to know what had happened? If you see, please do stop!! As an aside, YES, I stopped and checked that ambulance had been called, but as there was nothing further I could do, and I didn't witness what happened I went on my way.
  6. I resolve that petrol stations should stop offering discounts, this would make pumping faster and more convenient. Singapore is the only country I have ever pumped in where I am forced to "pay inside". If the petrol kiosks stopped offering discount then we could either pay the attendant or pump $50 and quickly run in pass cash, run out. By making us queue for discount the stations are wasting our time. Make the pump price lower, or if maybe "share" the discount between lower pump price and loyalty points - then if seldom pump at particular company can still get in and out quickly. My gripe is that forcing us to queue for our discount is inefficient and treating us like sheeple - Your thoughts?

  9. Hi guys, this is my second contribution. I dont know who is more reckless in this video , the guy parking the beautiful black porsche to be destroyed (look where it was parked!!!) , or the bus who at the end caused the accident. http://www.megavideo.com/?v=TPBTRFMR I think that even if the porsche wouldnt have been parked there , the accident would have ocurred , what do you think? Regards,
  10. PTC should allow private bus operators to proivide feeder bus services for a start. these private operators should price their fares cheaper than SBS. in a way, this will provide competition to SBS and keep them on their toes. They will think twice before applying for a price increase. Too bad i live in an area powered by a PAP MP. if i live in potong pasir, maybe can highlight to Mr Chiam.
  11. http://tnp.sg/news/story/0,4136,207877,00.html? i recall very long ago there was this HK show whereby a hk polisman was killed in a roadblock because racerboy did not stop. Frustrated by failed prosecution in court, they decided to use a trailer to roadblock the racerboy. Racerboy crash into trailer.
  12. Hi, have the above prob on a 2yr old colt plus. 40k mileage. Initial dianogsis is the aircon clutch (magnet plate) spoiled. Was quoted $470 by a aircon shop in woodlands to replace a new one. Currently working intermittently. Gotta on/off again if its not cutting in/out properly. Has anyone come across this before? And if the quoted price is reasonable? If not, any other places where i can get it done at a better price? Any advise appreciated!
  13. Does anyone noes a pet shop named I-Pet? On 12th March, morn was driving along Thomson Rd, overtake a small green panel-van GV6**6H in a 'Merging' lane. He has to brake to avoid me & obviously this van driver was super fed up as he tailed me with continuous horn all the way fr start of Thomson Rd to Sin Ming Rd. Small warning horn i can accept & will even slow down to wave a sorry sign to him even though i may not be at any fault but it's Very Irritating when he horned me all the way... This impulsive act stirred up my patience & i slowed down eventually & let him overtake by my right. Both of us wind down window & I shouted @ him 'Hv u had enuff? Its a merging lane right up there!' I guess i added an 'Idiot' @ the end as he's winding up his window b4 i can finish my sentence. Guess wat? He has a Dog beside him while driving & i choose to believe he wasn't concentrating during driving thus didn't c me overtake and so causing him to E-Brake. He didn't give up after that... he continued to horn & tried to follow me to wherever i go... but he was stopped @ traffic lite turning into Sin Ming... tat's where i stop my car by road side so as to confront him in person. Waited a while & he turned in but didn't c me & he turned into a carpark. I went over but the car was parked & he wasn't there & i only got the number plate & I-Pet printed on the van. Didn't hv the time to wait so i moved on... Intend to search for this Pet shop & pay this person a visit some of this days... Dun noe wat i'll do when i c him in person... Am i @ fault? Is he too much? Wat u guys think? My Frustration! Wat a day!
  14. I am driving a 2 year-old Mazda 3SP. Just changed to a new battery 2 months ago. Changed to open pod, piggyback, CAI ... Last week, during traffic light stops, the car suddenly died on me. Aircon and audio were still on, and working fine. In a spate of 30 mins, I had to restart the car for at least 4 times. Went to mechanic to check, and he suspected is the valve in the open pod giving the problem. Nevertheless, he said my car changed this and that, here and there, hence he cant confirm the problem. Any bro face the same problem before ? Pls help. Dont want to car to stall suddenly.
  15. Hey peps, i have a question for those who learn did ur TP with Auto cars. i got my licence some time back on manual but now driving auto, question is what is the recommended procedure when waiting at red light. I understand that switch to neutral is not recommened (did it when i just started driving auto but stopped after reading the forums) as it'll wear out the auto transmission in time. so are u taught to say on "D" and step on foot brake (what i'm doing now) of can pull hand brake and release foot brake.

  20. Hi All, My power windows squeals when open/close after a rain shower. Anyone knows where to buy a tube or can of rubber grease ? (I cannot use WD40 , oil or normal grease as it will cause rubber to swell). I saw it somewhere and the rubber grease is red in color. I tried Dashboard cleaner (can use in rubber) but it last only for few days.

  24. July 5, 2008 Why extend bike trial when it's a done deal? WHY extend the cycling-on-footpath trial in Tampines? Last Tuesday, the Minister for National Development, Mr Mah Bow Tan, announced a six-month extension of the trial ('Reckless cyclists in Tampines face penalties'). The trial, which started more than one year ago, allows cyclists to pedal on the town's footpaths, an act which is supposedly forbidden elsewhere in Singapore. Mr Mah added that, while the majority of residents responded well to the trial, it will be extended so more can be done to ensure that cyclists and pedestrians have an easier time on footpaths, for instance, widening footpaths and educating footpath users and cyclists. It is clear that much extra work is being done just to accommodate cyclists on footpaths so as to produce a successful trial. As the conclusion is clearly foregone, I see no merit whatsoever in wasting more time agonising over the trial results six months later. The reality on the ground is that all over Singapore, cyclists are already riding on footpaths, with the authorities taking no enforcement action. Let us not kid ourselves. Why don't we go ahead and spend money widening all the footpaths in Singapore for the benefit of both footpath users and cyclists?
