  1. I am just wondering if there is a traffic rule to prohibit a car to stop and drop a passeger near a bus-stop. I have been dropping my wife just in front of a bus-stop where the marking on the side is a double yellow line and is not marked as a bus lane. Just this morning, an SBS bus was right behind me and the bus driver kept honking at me for stopping my car to drop my wife along a double yellow line about 5 meters in front of the bus-stop. I wonder why ??

  3. http://www.asiaone.com/Travel/News/Story/A...0621-72074.html lets be fair we seem to be complaining about everything including the government but let examine if we are part of the problem OR we became part of the problem because policies mould us to become the way we are now OR we are too "boh chap" about our social responsibilities that we become totally reliant on the government OR basically it is true , we are just to bloody complacent

  6. Everytime rain will have alot of this black mark. How can i prevent it? and also everytime after i finishing washing my car, the next day will be full of dust again when i use my finger to test it.
  7. 1. Recently, my relative told me he was stopped by TP and the TP checked his GPS to find out his top speed in SG. Luckily he has reset it recently and it reflected top speed as 85Km/h. 2. So those of you who have GPS that stored your top speed beyond 90km/h, better erase it off or reset the data. Regards,
  8. March 27, 2008 In a car crash? New one-stop service will mean insurer does all paperwork and even gets tow truck for you By Christopher Tan NO MORE forms to fill at the roadside. No more queueing at inspection centres. And no more hunting for workshops which are willing to make third-party claims for you. All you need to do the next time you are in a motor accident is to call your insurer. It will do the rest for you, including sending a surveyor and, if needed, a tow truck - plus supplying a replacement vehicle where feasible. The General Insurance Association (GIA) said yesterday that its 29 member companies expect to launch the 'one-stop' service in May. The move is being introduced in another bid by the association to control motor insurance losses, which hit a five-year high of $103.2 million last year - a big jump over the $625,000 in 2006. Previous efforts included setting up independent damage assessment centres and requiring motorists to fill accident statements at the site of accidents. GIA president Derek Teo said yesterday that the losses can be attributed partly to motorists sending their accident-damaged vehicles straight to workshops - a practice that has often made it difficult for insurers to survey the damage until much later. This, said Mr Teo, has led to contentious claims and litigation which drive costs up unnecessarily. To prevent this, motorists will be required to inform their insurers of an accident within 24 hours in order to enjoy the one-stop service. 'If they do not, they will be in breach of an agreement and risk not being covered,' Mr Teo said at the association's 41st annual general meeting luncheon. He added that 'the new scheme is intended to be less painful for everyone'. He also said that insurers would have little or no reason to raise premiums if the scheme was successful in containing costs. It gives motorists several incentives to comply with the 24-hour notification rule. For starters, drivers need no longer struggle to complete the lengthy Singapore Accident Statement at the accident site. The form was introduced in 2004 as an attempt to establish unbiased facts of an accident. However, many motorists find the four-page document unwieldy, and fewer than 10 per cent of those in crashes were found to have completed it. Motorists also need not send their cars to an Independent Damage Assessment Centre (Idac), thus shortening the process of filing a claim and getting their cars repaired. Although the GIA did not say so, the new initiative is likely to result in the dismantling of the six-year-old Idac scheme, and would remove another cost layer. NTUC Income, Idac's strongest supporter - it once said it would carry on with the plan alone if it had to - could not be reached for comment yesterday. The GIA also said yesterday that it would look into why the number of accident reports had risen to 151,583 last year - the highest in five years. But it reckoned that the greater use of commercial vehicles on the back of the economic boom, a larger number of foreigners who are unfamiliar with Singapore roads and worsening traffic congestion were 'logical reasons' for the trend. Motorists welcomed the one-stop move. Housewife Beverly Wong, 38, said: 'It sounds pretty cool. It will save a lot of hassle. I remember going to Idac once and had to queue for a long time.' Shouldn't extra loading be applied for the above two cases rather than across the board???
  9. I am thinking that the oil major has been too quick and eager to raise pump price. Since we cannot stop buying petrol, maybe a good way to protest is to not buy anything at petrol kiosks, other any petrol. No more buying of food & drinks, bread, magazine and even parking coupon at petrol kiosks if possible. Reduce car wash at petrol kiosk. Stop buying engine oil that is branded from Esso, Shell and SPC. Anything that is related to these oil major, other than petrol which we have no choice, we stop/ reduce buying. A collective action by all drivers will send a strong msg. Better than rely on CASE. What do u think? Doable?
  10. cannot stand the reports feature in all major newspapers...wah lau those MPs not shameful meh...acting like they fight for singaporeans like a crusader...helping singaporeans to voice out our concerns and then in the end like a dog say yes to their master...*pui* shedding fake crocodile tears...in the end money money come come to their pocket...i dun recall there is a report stating the PM "supposed" donating his salary hike to the charity as he declared last year...where is the transparency....look at the comments and expression of the MPs when they recieve a pay hike last year...none of them stand out and say that they dun deserve the pay hike and it is their responsibility to serve the public since they choose this path...all keep quiet and laughing all the way to banks...

  13. What speed could he travelling??? ------ Car crashes into bus stop, overturns A CAR crashed into an empty bus stop along Guillemard Road before turning turtle on Tuesday evening at about 7pm. By the time Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedics arrived at the scene, the driver, a man in his 30s, had got out of the vehicle by himself. He suffered small cuts on each arm and did not want to be taken to the hospital.
  14. Hi all, I dun noe if I heard the news wrongly cos I was working away when the 7 pm Chinese news reported this a few days ago. Am putting this under this thread cos most cars use this kind of device to rid the car of foul smell. I heard the news reported that from 2010 onwards, US is going to stop/ban all local production of air-cleaners and/or Ionizers bcos they are found to be harmful to human health. A so-called scientist or something being interviewed said that since the negative ions were strong enuff to break down bacterias and harmful particles in the air, it could also be strong enuff to go into our lungs to break down our breathing mechanism and lung tissues in the long run Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks...
  15. Was [mad] while watching last weekends soccer match between Liverpool vs Birmingham. Something been telling me that last weekend selection is very [thumbsdown] . Voromin could not blend well with Dirk Kuyt and always pass to no man's land. As Birmingham is playing 5 midfielders, none of the liverpool midfielders & strikers takes long shorts at goal except for Risse shot. Liverpool team was booed by their fans after the match. Today ST reported that Rafa defends his decision in filling Voromin & Kuyt instead of Torres backlashed with fresh questions about his controversial rotation policy. Rafa admitted that his side runs out of ideals towards the end of a dreadful game. Kudo to Steve Bruce for playing 4 defenders and 5 midfielders to contain liverpool attack. How many of liverpool fans in SG had lost money in their last 3 games. where we expected them to win 2 of the games (except for Porto game). Wake up Rafa, field your strongest team please........ We also need to win back some from S'pore Pool. oops........
  16. E****M**** has stated that it will stop displaying petrol prices at all its petrol stations. I will not patronise such petrol stations where prices are unknown to me until I park to fill up.

  24. bros, most cars already rust-proofed, but with the car being continuously drenched for 2 weeks day and night, any danger of rust ? More worried about the hidden corner areas where water can stay, like in engine-bay, boot, doors, undercarraige etc.
