  1. Watch the Porsche Cayman and Subaru WRX STI try to outdrag each other on an empty runway. They might not be direct rivals, but they are currently one of the better performance cars out there. Interestingly, both have Boxer engines and use six-speed manuals but the similarity ends there. Even though the WRX STI is 130kg heavier than the Cayman, it has all-wheel drive and 30bhp more. So who do you think will be the faster car? http://dai.ly/x20d593_2015-subaru-wrx-sti-vs-2014-porsche-cayman-standing-mile_auto

  3. With a few improvements, including a chassis that is 40 percent stiffer compared to the previous generation, made to the new Subaru WRX STi, Subaru decides to make another trip to the re-known Isle of Man TT to reset a new record. Of course, the best person to do that would be Mark Higgins who also drove for them 3 years ago when Subaru came here in their 2011 WRX STi to set the fastest production record for a car. This time round, he managed to best his previous average speed record of 185.65km/h to hit 189.11km/h with a timing of 19 minutes and 16 seconds on the 59.5km course. So was there anything done to the car? Actually yes. Firstly, its a US specification car and it was fitted with a rollcage and had the speed limiter removed. Then comes springs and dampers that are slightly more robust to make sure the body control remains taut on the bumpy roads. Lastly, some upgraded brake pads and Dunlop Direzza tyres make sure the car stops as well as it can go. http://dai.ly/x1zxngd_subaru-tt-challenge-2_auto Read our full review of the new Subaru WRX STi here
  4. As per topic. The STI launching tomorrow at $207,400 tentative price. I hope it is not true if not the fate will end up like the Honda Accord. I have not even seen one new Accord on the road so far https://sg.news.yahoo.com/subaru-wrx-set-singapore-bow-163803996.html
  5. Not complaining but find this clown amusing... Modded ah beng car was tailgating me along Lentor Ave. After we made the turn at the junction in Yishun, I saw the LTA bike from far and I deliberately let him pass. As expected, he roared like a lion with smoke coming out of his exhaust. When he saw the LTA bike, he slowed down like a turtle and came to a full stop at another traffic light. I guess his balls shrunk and must be crossing his fingers with the LTA officer right beside him. After that, he stayed behind the LTA bike and quickly made a U turn and ran away like a Kitty. lol! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMYbiqQEo0I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52nF2-LWQtk

  8. Subaru tries to turn up the heat on its latest boyracer - the WRX STI - with a twin of viral videos. http://dai.ly/x1g7b3o The first commercial is also a preview of a short film that will be launched by Subaru. Called 'The ride of her life', the 1970s-themed video is no doubt dated, and a little corny. But it should serve up some old school entertainment, where the female lead decides to leave with her dream boy (and the STI, of course). http://dai.ly/x1g79bl But it is the second short video that gets our vote - a race between the STI (in scaled down form) and some StickBombs. Thanks to some digital wizardy, the race looks very cool. Now jump to the videos and decide which does it better.
  9. Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, has just unveiled the all-new WRX STI (US specifications) at the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) currently being held in Detroit, Michigan. As the top grade model of the WRX series, the new WRX STI embodies at an even higher level the shared product series concept: “Pure Power in Your Control”. Starting with the base WRX model, Subaru has equipped the WRX STI with the powerful, motorsport-proven 2.5-liter Horizontally-Opposed turbo engine, an exclusively-tuned suspension for enhanced rigidity, multi-mode DCCD (Driver’s Control Center Differential) and more. During development, Subaru honed the driveability of the new WRX STI to perfection, testing it under various driving conditions in several countries. As with past generations of the WRX STI, testing included ultra-high speed road testing on Germany's Nürburgring circuit, known for its harsh road conditions. Through this process, Subaru has raised performance for the body, chassis and other vehicle areas to the limit and fused them into one. This has elevated overall vehicle performance, resulting in the pinnacle of Subaru AWD sport performance with predictable high power at the driver's fingertips.

  11. Tokyo, February 7, 2014 - Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, has just unveiled the all-new Legacy (US specifications) at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show currently being held in Chicago, United States. The new Legacy ushers in the sixth generation of its model, a full 25 years since the first generation Legacy was released in 1989. A shared universal value among the past models of the Legacy is the strong, unwavering trust built up between driver and car. Over the course of the past quarter century, Subaru has consistently sought out a presence and value commensurate with its flagship model. We have purely focused on developing the kind of vehicle that acts as a partner to enrich its owners’ lives. In order to further solidify the trust we have built up, in the new Legacy, we took this sentiment beyond just functional values; ride quality, environmental friendliness and safety performance such as the new “EyeSight” and Subaru’s first rear radar system. We also brushed up its very essence—the design and quality at the core of its emotional value. The Legacy’s polish gives it universal appeal as a true sports sedan providing trust-inspiring driving excitement, an inspiration to drivers to dream bigger and imagine a fuller lifestyle.
  12. Hi there, i have a 2005 legacy gt 2.0 stock i heard JB is much much much cheaper to repair and modify cars, is this true? what i intend to do is: 1. repair suspension cause now got a lot of sounds like thud thud thud especially when go over slight rubble. 2. repair gearbox cause when accelerate from gear 1 to gear 2 in the morning, there will be huge jerk. but its just my guess. 3. repair the dashboard cause lots of cracks on the leather-looking material. 4. maybe change seats to lighter ones cause current stock one leather spoil liao. 5. maybe tune ECU so that turbo kicks in earlier, i heard rumors this improves FC, yay! 6. maybe repaint entire car. 7. maybe change exhaust to louder one that also improves bhp does anyone have any advice on the 7 items? like the estimated price, estimated savings, advice on the problems, suggestions for the modifications parts. thanks all.
  13. I am looking for a good car camcorder. Thinking between Garmin GDR35 or Itronics ITB-100HD or THINKWARE FXD900. which do you think is better? Some questions: 1) Does the Garmin GDR35 have parking mode? Meaning when the car is unattended, it will records whenever it detect a collision? I understand it have a G sensor but does it records when it detect a collision while being park? 2) Do these camera have a built-in battery so that it can detects collision while unattended? Or does it had to be "hard-wired"? 3) What do "hard-wired" means? Does it means that the camera is connected straight to the car battery so that it draws power from the car battery even when car is parked? I went to my car workshop and ask to connect my car camera to the car battery but the workshop seems clueless as to how it can be done. DO i need to go to specialized shop?

  15. Not letting the hype over the brilliant BRZ die down, Subaru came up with another variant of the sports coupe to let its fans stay happy. Named the BRZ Premium Sport Edition, it is supposed to be a more luxurious and refined version of the famed coupe. Sadly, not much has been done to increase the driving performance. But then, it is already such a wonderful driver’s car. What they did provide the car were black painted door mirrors and STi aluminium wheels exterior wise. Interestingly, they stuck with 17-inchers, which probably have the best grip/drift balance for the car. Interior wise, the car's seats and steering wheel are wrapped in brown and black leather with tan stitching on some details. The bright red STi push engine start button is a nice welcome too. Overall, this is a nice edition for the BRZ but we are pretty sure local buyers won’t be able to get their hands on it even though it might lure one or two buyers away from a Z4 or SLK.

  18. Greetings to all Impreza Drivers and Lovers of AWD. I will first start by sharing my tips to increase FC for my new car. Currently my Impreza 1.6i MT is still under RUN in less than 1600 km The Run in Engine Oil is very thick , thickest compare to Mineral oil and Full Syn oil I have acheived 12-13.5km /litre of petrol with lot of careful driving. TIPS 1) I have installed EZ-stab EXTreme. I have just Spend $620 on this Extreme. Very worth it It aids in Power and Fuel Efficiency 2) I always change gear @ 1500 - 1700 rpm. I entered 5th Gear @ 60km/hr speed. 3) I always set my gear to NEUTRAL during down slope, enter 5th Gear and slowly release clutch when I am about to reach flat road. I do that everyday on CTE. 4) When I saw red light at a distance, I will set Neutral and let it cruise. I dare to do this because it is AWD. Very Stable. Not afraid it will skid or anything. AWD is the best. 5) Check and pump to the correct tyre pressure every alternate days. I am hoping to bring this Impreza to 15km/litre. I am in constant process to search for good products and tips to improve on FC. anyway the petrol price have increased. Since I have bought subaru cars, i do not think i will switch brand. I am aiming for a SUBARU Legacy for my next car. I hope all the GURU out there in MCF will contribute on the tips of BEtter FC. I will humbly accept advices. Cheers GIMMY
  19. Subaru Legacy is such a good car.... but driven so indiscriminately.
  20. Subaru teased us with a photo of the BRZ with the enticing STi logo on its Japanese website a few days ago. However, it turns out that it is actually a tS edition, which will commence selling soon. The Subaru tS edition will be available for sale in two different versions - the standard BRZ tS and the BRZ tS 'GT-package'. The white car seen here is fitted with the 'GT-package' comes with new 17-inch lightweight black alloy rims, a more pronounced front lip, side skirt and rear bumper. It will also get lower springs, sports muffler, front strut tower bar and some interior trimmings. Bigger Brembo brakes, Bilstein dampers, lightweight driveshaft, Recaro seats and a GT carbon fibre wing are some of the features that buyers can get for this car. The standard tS makes do with the aforementioned bodykit, springs, muffler, strut bar and the minor interior details. A total of 500 units will be produced and it will very likely be a Japan-only model. Tough luck for us locals! We wonder if Subaru will produce a full blown turbocharged STi version of the BRZ. We are definitely crossing our fingers for that one!
  21. Nothing is official yet, but we hear that the local distributor may be bringing in the four-door bodystyle of the WRX STi. This is good news for the local fans of Japanese sports cars after the dust from the Toyota 86 and Subaru's own BRZ has settled. From the late 90s to the early 2000s, its arch rival - the Mitsubishi Evolution - and itself, carved out a niche for themselves with their boombastic point and shoot performance. Its basic iteration, the Impreza WRX, was easily the best bang for buck performance car in Singapore when the price of COE was low. All the local racing wannabes hankered after one. Fast forward to today, soaring COEs and the onslaught of German hot hatches contributed to the falling appeal of these wonderful rally reps. We are hoping the new four-door body will come soon and allow the newer generation of drivers to taste the magic of these rally-inspired turbocharged AWD sedans. And yes, there may also be a automatic version too for those who prefer a less frantic experience.
  22. Where to buy OEM parts for Subaru?
  23. These are the first spy shots of the new Subaru WRX which is likely to go on sale later this year as a 2014 model. According to Autoblog and WorldCarFans.com, this is the next generation WRX STI
  24. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVzN3pIjP9U About two weeks ago, I wrote about the unveiling of the WRX concept at the 2013 New York Auto Show. The above video features Subaru's design chief, Osamu Namba, who explained the styling characteristics of the WRX Concept at Subaru's New York Auto Show booth. Osamu Namba joined Subaru in 2008, hired from an independent styling studio he had founded a decade earlier. His mission is to unify the Subaru look across models and win new fans. I have one personal request to Mr Osamu though - Please incorporate as much of the styling elements in the concept as possible in the production model. On the drivetrain, my prediction is that the new WRX will be powered by the brand's new 2.0-litre direct-injected turbocharged Boxer engine. It is currently used in the new Forester and is good for 240bhp and 350Nm of torque in this application.
