  1. http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-letters/story/my-point-20140212 Some smart alec "defender of justice" suggest silly things to authorities again. It is obvious she^ knows nothing about illegal modifications and assumed fierce car = illegal. Someone with fierce looking car in her neighbourhood must have pissed her off. Waste of space in ST.... Ok maybe cos ST not enough comments to publish liao. ^ The reason I say "she" is cos Chang Pui San has a strong female vibe to it, no self-respecting parents would name their son a girly name as "Pui San".
  2. Alamak, auntie spoilt the show!
  3. Some of you would have already known about this app and downloaded it onto your phone. The success of this type of app is largely based on the community itself. If there are contributors, many will benefit. If there are none, the app is rendered useless. Let me first explain myself, before I get flamed by the fellow MCFers, "Wah lao, got money buy car, no money put coupon". It's not that I/We cannot afford the parking coupon. It's just that ... ... Sometimes, the laziness within us resists the tearing of coupons Sometimes, we are rushing for time and cannot be bothered to put coupons Sometimes, Singaporeans just like to take risks and go against all odds And the list goes on and on and on... For whatever reason it may be, most of you, if not all, upon receiving your parking offence ticket will be regretful about it. And that feeling sucks. Basically, this is an app which notifies you when other drivers spotted a parking warden in the carpark. For detailed information on the app, click here. Get Summon Auntie App on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Disclaimer: I am in no way related to Replaid and Summon Auntie Team. This is done with the interest to increase awareness in the community so that us, motorist, will be benefit from this app.
  4. spent $400 at workshop to diagnose problem because i myself is afraid of white smoke cause it might mean my turbo up lorry. turns out $400 wasted because every part was tip top condition, headgasket, turbo seals, no leaks, oil at optimum levels. it will only occur on cold starts in the morning and probably after leaving it for more than a day or when it was just washed. the day that NEA caught me on video, it had just rained and it was also probably just washed. i appealed twice, but both rejected. what should my next step be? can i bring it down to NEA and prove to them my car no emit smoke? or must i invite them to come my house in morning to prove them there is water vapor if i flush my exhaust with water from a hose.

  9. Hi forumners, I was returning home from groceries shopping last weekend with many items, and I was at a roundabout near my house which I wanted to unload the stuff, but since the roundabout is one way, I temporarily parked my car at a handicapped lot while unloading. There was no loading/unloading bay in my area and there was another handicap lot nearby which was unused during the time of my 'offence'. After I have placed all the stuff at my home (about 15 mins later), I went down with my sis-in-law to shift the car to another nearby normal lot at the roundabout, but she just stood outside my car while I re-parked. All the while, both of us did not notice anything on my windscreen. It was only after my family and I went out for dinner, and I came back to use my car, that I noticed a summons slip of $50 on it. I suspected someone called in LTA. My question is, am I supposed to be fined even for a short while of parking there? And also, even after moving off, am I still 'liable' to be fined? Thanks all for any comments!
  10. I have a colleague who kena parking summon while driving the company's van. But before he paid the fine, he left the company. So who's repsonsible for the fine now? Is it still the driver or becomes the company? Or no need pay liao?

  12. just saw a MY car under my relative's block's open carpark. its is a black jazz/fit with super dark window tints and it had about 10 parking summon slips under the wipers. what happens to cars that are left unattended when they are not at their season carpark ?
  13. Brudders For many years never get summon. This evening had to pick wife up at Tampines MRT station but arrived at the side pick up point 5 mins earlier. I didn't notice one LTA officer using her pink smart phone aiming at me till my wife called me to pick her in front . I drove to pick her and saw the officer still aiming at my car. Can they use the pictures our maybe video recording as evidence to issue summon? Any brudders get this and appeal and succeeded to geta waiver? What reasons did you give ? Frankly I think the last fine I got was probably 5 years ago. Thanks
  14. Any Bros know what website to check whether Singapore vehicle have existing summon ? I remember I came across a link just key in our vehicle no. and passport no. Just misplace that link, anyone? Thanks!
  15. Just kena TP summon by post asking for driver's particular for unauthorised u-turn, fine $70. Thinking of appealing for waiver but what reason can I give? What's the chances for genuine or non-genuine reason? Any bro here hv any experience to share/advise appealing for waiver to TP. Doesn't matter successful or not. Thank You!
  16. Hi Gurus, need help. Anyone with experience in why TP issue or not issue summon on the spot? I rented a lorry to help a friend move house. I thought the front cabin can seat 3 pax due to the seats design. Ok thats my fault for not finding out. Anyway, 3 of us sat there and kenna stopped by TP. TP copy my IC particulars and say summon will be sent to me later. Tried to ask TP give chance but failed haha. Ok I'm not complaining, just that I am curious why didn't he issue on the spot? I always thought traffic offence caught on the spot will be issued immediately. Can anyone enlighten?

  19. http://motoring.asiaone.com/Motoring/News/...109-320796.html Confessions of a parking warden Enforcement officer says she is being 'watched' to make sure she does her job. -TNP Joyce Lim Tue, Jan 10, 2012 The New Paper Madam Tan starts her work with a bang every day. There is not one car park in Singapore that is not checked by enforcement officers, says Madam Tan. When drivers spot her, they literally bang the tables and tumble over their chairs as they make a dash to their cars, hoping to get there before Madam Tan does. These are drivers who try to cheat the system by not displaying valid parking coupons or illegally parking their cars. Madam Tan, an enforcement officer in her 50s, declines to give her full name for her confessions to The New Paper on Sunday. A retired civil servant, Madam Tan has been working as an enforcement officer - better known as a parking warden - for more than five years. She usually starts her day at one of Singapore's busiest coffee shops. Hawkers will yell when they spot Madam Tan in the vicinity. Some drivers will hurl expletives as they run to their cars. Madam Tan confesses: "I feel so bad to show up before these people can finish their food. The minute I arrive, they panic, abandon their lunches and run to their cars. "Some would call out to me, 'Tolong aunty, give chance! Give me five minutes to eat.'" To which, Madam Tan would reply: "You spend at least five minutes waiting to have your food order taken, 10 minutes for your food to be served, another 10 minutes to eat and five minutes to go to the toilet. Why don't you display a 50-cent coupon?" "I am just doing my job," Madam Tan would tell the drivers. Parking warden myths debunked! Click on thumbnail to view. Story continues after photos. (Photos: ST, TNP) She is familiar with all the excuses that these drivers come up with. But she can only tell them that she has a job to do, and she is being "watched" to make sure she does it. "All enforcement officers have GPRS in our mobile phones. Our bosses will know if we are at our designated locations at the specified times," explains Madam Tan. "There are also auditors dressed in civilian clothing roaming the car parks to make sure that we are working." Madam Tan reveals that hotspots targeted by enforcement officers are usually those at neighbourhood centres and car park lots near popular coffee shops and Singapore Pools outlets. For instance, she has caught many offenders at the car parks of Block 632, 633 and 634 at Bukit Batok Central. There is not one car park in Singapore that is not checked by enforcement officers, says Madam Tan. Next >> MYTHS DEBUNKED Not even "ulu" (deserted and far-flung) residential estates, where there are only four car park lots and industrial areas. But because those lots are so out of the way, enforcement officers would go there at only a specific time of the day. Madam Tan says: "Many people think that we are out to issue as many summons as we can in a day. That is not true. "My job is to educate the public. This is Singapore. People should know that everywhere you go, you need to pay, even for parking your car." Madam Tan also debunks the belief that enforcement officers have quotas to meet and get a commission for every ticket they issue. She reveals: "We get a basic salary of less than $800 a month. But we get incentives like transport allowance and performance bonus. "Good performance does not mean issuing more tickets. It is about reporting to work on time, getting no complaints or appeals for the tickets issued." That is why Madam Tan is always careful when issuing tickets to offenders. She confesses: "I would rather cancel the ticket than to have the driver file an appeal or file a complaint against me later, which reflects badly on my work performance. "But once a ticket has been issued, there is no way for me to cancel it on the spot." Madam Tan reveals that she issues an average of 30 tickets a day. While she feels sorry for offenders, Madam Tan feels that she is inefficient when she issues just 10 summonses a day. Managing angry and unreasonable drivers is the biggest challenge in her job. She is numb to the verbal abuse hurled at her by these drivers every day. "I will try to explain to them why a summons has been issued. Some drivers actually say 'thank you' before driving off. That is the greatest satisfaction I get from my job," says Madam Tan. But there are also those who threaten her, and some have even knocked her down with their vehicles - all over a $30 fine, says Madam Tan, showing this reporter the scars on her arms and legs. All they have to do, says Madam Tan, is to explain to her why they did not display a valid parking coupon. Madam Tan then keys in their comments into her electronic system. When these drivers send in their appeals later, chances of their fines being waived are much higher as there are already records of their explanations with the authorities, she explains. 20. I was sending my boss back to office after going to the bank to withdraw bonuses (not that its anything) and the small basement carpark was full thus the building's security guard signalled for me to park at the side near the guardhouse. It was about 1.30 p.m. At about 2.20 p.m. I returned to my vehicle and found a summon offence of $50 parking on Double Yellow Line Behind Parking Lot 10! BTW Parking Lot 10 is the lorry as u see in the picture. Is this really nitpicking, splitting hairs? its very senseless imho. I might be wrong and I intend to go to URA to appeal. I was almost on pte property with a small part of my wheel touching the yellow line. I believe that parking offences are to discourage car owners from dangerous driving/parking or causing inconveniences not to let the system suka suka penalise as they like. I'd like to hear your views. I might really be wrong :( Anyone thinks I've got a decent case to discuss with the URA? if not $50 just pay and forget it. Otherwise feel quite indignant. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/560/photo1qe.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/716/photo3vk.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/27/photo5sul.jpg/
