  1. The first images for the facelifted Gallardo Spyder are here, and it wears the similar trigonometry inspired face which does not fit well for the Spyder. Though personally I feel that the extremely sharp styling does not work as well as it did with the coupe. Maybe it's the colour or the camera angles, but perhaps its looks better in the flesh. Besides the folding soft top, the Spyder is essentially similar to its coupe sibling, which was revealed at the recently concluded Paris Motor Show. It wears a new set of two-tone 19-inch Apollo polished alloys and feature bigger air intakes ahead of the front rims. Like in the coupe the powertrain air outlet area is wider for improved thermodynamic efficiency. What do you guys think? Am I too harsh on the looks or do you think it will grow on us?
  2. [extract] Nissan has created a one-off gold-coloured GT-R embossed with Usain Bolt's signature and interior fittings finished in real gold. This unique GT-R will be auctioned on eBay and the proceeds will be donated to the Usain Bolt Foundation, which creates educational and cultural opportunities for the young people in Jamaica. The special edition GT-R is an extension of Mr Bolt
  3. [extract] Ferrari has brought its current range for display in Paris, each equipped with either a new generation of the company's 8 or 12-cylinder powertrains. The F12berlinetta - the most powerful V12 ever built by the Maranello based factory, contains 740bhp within a light, compact architecture. Complementing the F12 is the FF, Ferrari
  4. The Lamborghini Reventon and its Roadster counterpart is truly an iconic and head turning vehicle that no-doubt has influenced the current styling language, like the current flagship the Aventador, Aventador J and the Sesto Elemento. Ondrej Jirec, a final year Transport Design student at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California has taken Lambo's lead for a concept vehicle that has styling inspired by military aviation. Dubbed the Lamborghini Perdigon, it is named after a famous fighting bull from 1894, and its head is currently on display at the plaza Museum in Madrid. From the concept images, the Perdigon seems to be a Sesto Elemento replacement of sorts, utilising striking design with lightweight construction. The sharply styled concept's body language is inspired by the F117 Nighthawk and F22 Raptor jet fighters. A large air intake with a fan can be seen at the front, though no idea what purpose it serves, it feel reminiscent of the Batmobile from the Tim Burton directed movies. The interior looks in-line with current concepts, and looks minimal with little distraction for the driver. The orange, white and black colour layout looks interesting and simple, with a nice slice of sportiness delivered.
  5. [extract] Despite the challenging economic environment, the prancing horse galloped forward in terms of sales during the first half of 2012. The Italian-based supercar maker, Ferrari, has announced record sales for the first half of 2012, an increase of 11.9 percent compared to the first half of last year.
  6. For non-wrestling readers, "FU" is the finishing maneuver by WWE superstar, John Cena. Like him, Jaguar is ready to deliver a heavy blow to its competitors in the convertible segment. The British car marker has just released the official photos of the F-type - the successor to the E-type roadster manufactured between 1961 and 1974. Under the hood, it will have a 3.0-litre V6 supercharged engine that pumps out 335bhp and 450Nm of torque. A more powerful version of the same engine is endowed with 375bhp and 460Nm. A range-topping "R" variant will be motivated by the brand's familiar 5.0-litre supercharged V8, rumoured to generate between 503bhp to 542bhp. There is also a possibility that the ford-sourced 240 bhp 2.0-liter turbo unit could later on find its way into the hood. If you prefer not to get your hair messed up and enjoy better protection should the car turn turtle, the good news is that Jaguar will present a coupe version of the two-seater possibly by late 2013 or early 2014. The F-type
  7. [extract] Lamborghini has made their latest bull, the Aventador, more environmentally friendly by incorporating start/stop function and cylinder deactivation technology into the 2013 MY LP 700-4. Hence, the revised Aventador is akin to a plate of Char Kway Teow prepared with healthier oil
  8. About a couple of years ago; Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche, confirmed that Mercedes Benz will release an electric version of the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. The all-electric supercar is said to be available by 2013. The car is said to make around close to 600bhp coupled with a lithium-ion battery pack. Fast forward to today, the above mentioned supercar is ready and now it is known as the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive. It is scheduled to go on sale by the middle of next year and it makes much more power than the earlier promised power figures. The SLS AMG Electric Drive makes an astonishing 740bhp and 999Nm of torque, powering all four wheels. This makes the car the most powerful electric car in the market and also in the AMG line-up. The company stated that the SLS AMG Electric Drive is capable of completing the century sprint in less than 3.9 seconds and will easily reach its top speed of 250km (electronically limited). To compare it with the normal petrol powered Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, the 580bhp SLS AMG completes the century sprint in 3.6 seconds (not much of a significant difference). This is possible due to it not being burdened by a heavy battery pack. The SLS AMG Electric Drive
  9. Nissan has released the official pictures of the face-lifted 370Z sports car, which will go on sale across Europe after making its debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. As evident from the images, the makeover is rather minimal that features a redesigned bumper at the front with a couple of vertical LED DRLs. Along with the facelift, the coupe will be available with two new colors, namely Midnight Blue and Magma Red. It will also get a set of new 18 or 19-inch alloy rims with red brake calipers. The interior remains literally unchanged, apart from an upgraded Bose sound system which gets new speakers and subwoofer. Nissan has decided to keep the chassis and engine of the face-lifted model untouched. This means that the car is still powered by the 324 bhp 3.7-litre V6 unit that brings the car from 0 to 100km/h in 5.5 seconds. With a base price of around 30,000 Euro (S$47,629), the Nissan 370Z is considered to be relatively cheap. It certainly is, especially from a Singaporean
  10. If you own a tire-burning BMW M5 or M6, the last thing you want to do is to let them sit idle in the garage. But just like an athlete nursing an injury, it is some time necessary. What happened to these super cars in the United States is that they are found to be fitted with defective oil pumps. The purpose of an oil pump in an internal combustion engine is to circulate engine oil under pressure to the rotating bearings, the sliding pistons and the camshaft of the engine. In BMW
  11. The 2014 BMW M3 has been spied while undergoing some testing on the famous German track, the Nurburgring, thanks to the folks at Bimmer Post. From the footage, we can see that like all previous generations of the M3, the top-of-the range BMW 3 series has subtle styling differences from its lesser siblings. The all-new M3 is observed to have two pair of exhaust pipe. Other than the styling of the new M3, the video also give us a preview of the aural pleasure that can be derived from the car
  12. McLaren has released the first official images of the new P1 design study, which will subsequently become a production model next year with sales starting within a year after that. The production version will be the successor of the legendary McLaren F1, whose production ended in 1998. "The McLaren P1 will be the result of 50 years of racing and road car heritage," says McLaren Automotive Executive Chairman Ron Dennis. "Twenty years ago we set the supercar performance bar with the McLaren F1 and our goal with the McLaren P1 is to redefine it once again." The British supercar maker says that the P1
  13. Besides the Ferrari Enzo 2.0 and the recently unveiled McLaren P1, the other highly anticipated hybrid supercar must be Porsche's 918 Spyder. At the age of technology and the internet, nothing can be kept a secret. The latest victim of leaked material is Stuggart based Porsche. The 918 pieces limited - 918 Spyder images from a product brochure has been leaked onto the web. This comes a month after footage from a private event in New York was leaked. The leaked brochure provides us a clear(er) picture on the production ready 918 Spyder that has often been concealed. With refrence to the brochure, the 918 can decked out in iconic Martini or Salzburg racing livery besides ten other body colours. While the base Spyder can already cost a fraction of many's fortune, is web sources are to be believed, Porsche will (be pleased) to announce that for just $65,000 (S$79,637) you have an option to finish your car in a special Liquid Metal Grey or Liquid Metal Blue paint job. With reference to the image, the Spyder
  14. The most popular Lamborghini model to date, the Gallardo, is recalled due to potential fluid leak from the power steering hoses. These unlucky units are built between 2004 to 2006 and both the Gallardo Coupe and Spyder body styles are involved. The recall began in Australia, followed by Canada and now in the U.S. About 1,491 units are affected in the U.S. According to Lamborghini, high pressure hoses for the hydraulic-assisted power steering system may leak under certain driving conditions. Should this occur, a fire could break out if the fluid comes into contact with an ignition source. Lamborghini is notifying the affected owners, who can take their Gallardos to their dealers for repairs at no charge. The car is named after a famous breed of fighting bull and represented to many the smaller version of the Murcielago. The
  15. Lamborghini Reventon themed PC case blends geekiness and car enthusiasm into one awesome piece of technical art. Inspired by the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor (Starscream from Transformers, for our younger readers), the Reventon is a 20 piece limited model based on the now outdated Murcielago LP640 (Still as impressive and good looking as the Aventador though). The fastest speed achieved was in Dubai,UAE at 356km/h and it is the most expensive Lamborghini to date at $2 million. The PC might not be as quick and might cost only a minor fraction of the car, but it is equally good looking. Based on the Silverstone Raven RV01 PC Case, the sleek and aerodynaminc lines of the Reventon are effortlessly lifted over to the PC including the missile/arrow shaped tail lights. The initial design was tested on Adobe Photoshop before the modder, Paul Tan, set out on the project. The initial step was to paint the whole case in Auto Acrylic paint (casting iron colour) with UV protection. Nearly every corner and component including the RAM, GPU, motherboard and mouse pad are decked in Lamborghini branding and the special Reventon colour. The ATI Radeon 5870 graphics processor was laser cut and bent give it that signature Lamborghini feel. Given the quality of effort and vision, perhaps Paul Tan and Asus should collaborate for the next Lamborghini branded laptop or ultrabook? Pic Source: DamnGeeky
  16. [extract] Chrysler, parent company of Street and Racing Technology (SRT) and manufacturers of the lusty 2013 Viper have announced U.S. pricing for the 2013 SRT Viper Models and have dropped lots of images. The racing stripes are back! SRT's flagship performance machine, the slithering Viper has quite literally risen from the ashes like a phoenix and has returned with more power, performance and superior craftsmanship. Well it
  17. German tuners TC Concepts have laid their hands on the well received 458 Italia. The project has been dubbed 'General Consul' for unknown reasons. The latest tuning company to play with the 458 Italia, the General Consul kit starts with a Novitec body kit adding a front and rear spoiler, side skirts, front fender vents among other extras. The Novitec kit also increases the output to 609bhp. TC Concepts has basically darkened out the rear lamps and colour-keyed he prancing horse emblems. The car is mainly finished in a bumblebee friendly yellow and black which also continues in the cabin. Throw in a couple of ComfortDelgro logos and it will blend in well with the local cab population. The extended carbon front flaps looks like the 458 has been given a thin moustache and from reminds me of the Joker's scars from The Dark Knight. Like the 'yellow ring' they have added to the rims and the black as night emblem on a yellow background just looks sinister. Looks like a car fit for the Yellow Lanterns then. They are after all fuelled by fear.
  18. [extract] The recent report of Nissan had yet to approve the launch of a successor to the R35 GT-R might have disappointed certain people especially fans of the GT-R family. But it seems that Nissan has finally given the green light for the new car, the R36 GT-R, and has set a launch date for 2018. This new report would give the current R35 GT-R a ten year model lifespan and it ties in with the comments made by the R35
  19. While the term 'Gentleman's Racer' might sound like an oxymoron, that's exactly what the MC Stradale is. Maserati's edgiest drive is hardcore yet still perfectly chivalrous around town. When a car maker announces that they will be making a road-legal racecar, everyone sits up and listens. So it was with Maserati, when news of a stripped out, hardcore version of the GranTurismo was underway, the world (myself included) waited in anticipation to see what this manic italian beast was going to be like. Well here I am, strapped in by a 4-point harness onto light-weight carbon fibre seats, surrounded by racy blue alcantara, shifting gear upon gear in lightning speed (0.06 seconds to be exact), and accelerating into license-revoking speeds. But it's not the speed - blindingly quick it may be - that has got the hair at the back of my neck standing, but rather, it's the glorious symphony of camshafts, pistons and the combustion of compressed air that has got me all fired up! If you thought that the 'ordinary' Maserati GranTurismo was loud, this car is dialled up to eleven (going on twelve)! The sound of this thing is simply orgasmic, it is a good enough reason to go out and get one. This 'thing', is none other than the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale. Let's start with what this car doesn't have. Rear seats for one. The absence of rear seats contribute to the total weight reduction of 110kg, it also makes the MC Stradale the only two-seater in the current Maserati range. The use of carbon fibre (gorgeous) seats also help reduce weight. Now let's talk about what it has. The MC Stradale generates 10bhp more from the 4.7-litre V8 engine than the GranTurismo S. Torque is also up with a further 20Nm improvement at 510Nm. This allows the car to accelerate from nought to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, all the way to a 300 km/h top speed. Let this be official - this car is FAST! Maybe it's the sound that enhances the sense of speed, but the MC Stradale accelerates angrily through every gear and every rev input given. And it looks quick too, with a new front splitter, sleek bumper with a lower chin, vented bonnet, and even a new rear bumper, the hard-edged nature of the MC Stradale comes through perfectly. Sexy carbon fibre seats covered is racy blue alcantara leather adorn the interior. It may be a little loud for some, but I felt right at home. The brilliant thing about the seats is how they manage to be comfortable and grippy at the same time. The 4-point harness and roll-cage are not mandatory, standard issue is the regular 3-point seat belts. But if you're going to buy a car like that, please go for broke and get the full works. The 4-point belts even have the seat belt safety sensor. How cool is that? With advanced electronics, shift times from the upgraded MC Race Shift electro-actuated transaxle gearbox have been shaved to a mere 60 milliseconds. This is only possible in Race mode, in this mode, the exhaust valves open permanently and the already superb song this car sings becomes a No. 1 billboard chart hit! On the note of drive modes, three are available, Auto, Sport and Race, the latter is only found in this exceptional car. One thing I wished Race mode did as well was tweak the suspension - the car is just too soft. Which brings me to my point of this being a gentleman's racer. It's quite amazing how it can be so ferocious, yet it is really stress-free to drive. The trade-off is that the car won't satisfy hot-blooded trackies. Point the car into a corner and there is some apparent roll, but keep the steering input steady and the line will still hold, but the pitching doesn't inspire confidence. So with a charismatic engine like this, the driver is best left to cruise and mess around with the gears just to hear the snarling symphony of the revs going up and down. Is it worth it? I say with all my heart, YES! At approx S$500K, this awesome machine undercuts other exotic cars by a few hundred thousand quid! With other racy upgrades like Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, custom-developed Pirelli tyres, bespoke light-weight 20" wheels as standard, the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale is a well equipped exotic that looks good, sounds great, goes fast and most importantly, allows the driver to do all this with much ease.
  20. When it comes to exotic sports and GT cars, many would say that the Italians make the best ones. But some would argue that the British are good at it too. Just take a look at the car in the pictures here. It is a Trident Iceni Grand Tourer. The United Kingdom has many small/medium sized sports car makers that makes unique cars for buyers who are looking for something a little out of the ordinary and Trident is one of them. The Trident Iceni Grand Tourer is a two-seater roadster with a diesel powered engine. The car is fitted with a General Motor-sourced 6.6 litre turbodiesel engine. The engine can run on regular diesel, biodiesel, mineral diesel, palm oil and linseed oil. The engine makes around 430bhp and 1288Nm of torque. Buyers can opt for a performance upgrade which increases the power output level to 660bhp and 1423Nm of torque. The
  21. The 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance recently concluded and like every year there were lots of bea-utiful vehicles that were on display, and here are some, that I liked for your viewing. Enjoy!

  23. The new Continental GT Speed is the fastest road-car to exit Bentley's factory in Crewe, U.K. and if you have the cash, place your orders with deliveries expected to start from October 2012. Bentley has released the full technical details for its new performance flagship, the Continental GT Speed that reaches a top speed of 330 km/h with power sent to all four wheels (60:40; rear biased). It will debut at the upcoming Moscow Motor Show on the 29th August. Pretty apt location for a luxury car. The GT Speed is powered by a monstrous 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12, developing 616bhp and 800Nm of torque. All the power is mated to a new ZF eight-speed close-ratio automatic transmission featuring
