  1. Anyone used any "new car smell" products before? Came across this Chemical Guys New Car Smell spray. Is it any good? https://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Guys-AIR-101-16-Freshener-Eliminator/dp/B002J7VX4Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1502204539&sr=8-2&keywords=chemical+guys+new+car+smell PS: I am not affliated to the product

  3. I'm driving a swift sport zc31 manual. My clutch slip when I accelerate over 3k rpm. The acceleration comes in after a delay of about 2sec. When I floor, the Rpm will rise like it's in neutral gear and then will go down and accelerate the speed. I just changed a recon gearbox and new clutch kit 2 mths ago. Went back to the workshop and they told me it's normal cuz I changed a normal clutch, if I change a racing clutch then won't have this problem. Anyone can help on this?
  4. President of Japan's auto maker Suzuki Motor, Osamu Suzuki (right), poses as he introduces the company's new mini sports ulility vehicle (SUV) called Hustler at a press conference in Tokyo on Dec 24, 2013. Suzuki Motor Corp had little idea that the name "Hustler" for its new, boxy minicar aimed at outdoorsy Japanese customers might cause mirth among English speakers for its association with an adult magazine - but it's not alone. Plucking words from foreign dictionaries without checking how they might be received by native speakers appears to be a habit at Japanese companies, which have produced countless products with unintentionally unsavoury names. The name Hustler was chosen to conjure the image of agility, as well as invite nostalgia from customers who remembered an off-road motorbike released in 1969 called the Hustler 250, said a Suzuki public relations officer. Foreign visitors might instead recall the sexually explicit magazine started by porn magnate Larry Flynt as competition to Playboy, or associate the word with obtaining money through illegal activities or vice industries. The Hustler follows a string of other Japan-made cars to bemuse speakers of foreign languages, such as Daihatsu Motor Co Ltd's Naked in 2000 and Isuzu Motors Ltd's 1983 Bighorn. Spanish speakers were taken aback by Mazda Motor Corp's Laputa, a derogatory word for sex worker, while Mitsubishi Motors Corp sold its Pajero model as the Montero in Spanish-speaking countries as the former is slang for sexual self-pleasure. Japanese confectionery often yields a chuckle from foreign tourists, too. A tubular chocolate snack called Collon and an isotonic sports drink named Pocari Sweat, for example, bear unfortunate associations with bodily functions. While many brand names around the world don't translate across borders - the Iranian washing powder Barf, which means snow in Persian, or a Swedish chocolate bar called Plopp, for example - Japanese companies often use foreign words for how they sound, with little regard to their original meaning. This is partly due to foreign words having an exotic ring, much like how Chinese characters are seen by Westerners as poetic or profound choices for tattoos even if the results don't make much sense to native speakers. But Japanese firms often fail to check if a name 'travels' because of historical reasons, marketers say. "Japan really is an island nation, and was historically closed for a long time. Also, the domestic market is so big that companies can be successful without thinking globally," said Masamichi Nakamura, executive director at global marketing firm Interbrand's branch in Tokyo. But Japan is far from having a patent on unintentionally salacious brand names: websites like Engrish.com revel in strange uses of English across Asia, including neighbouring South Korea's snack maker Lotte Confectionary Co Ltd's Crunky Ball Nude. 5. About 2 decades ago, the term bread and butter car model used to be refering to car with engine capacity of 1.0L or lesser, and mid size family sedan are the Corolla, Sunny, Mazda 323, Civic, Jetta and such. Sub 1.0L rides make up some 12 - 15% of our passenger car population, and proved to be popular for those looking at a simple point A to point B personal transport tool. Some of the hot model include: Suzuki Swift Sedan Suzuki Wagon R Toyota Starlet Nissan March Subaru Justy Subaru Vivio Daihatsu Charade Daihatsu Move Mitsubishi Toppo Town Bee Mitsubishi Pajero Mini Fiat Uno Seat Ibiza Sales of sub 1.0L rides start to fall by the end of 90s / early 2000, due to the ever rising COE premium (and no thanks to the merger of Cat 1 & 2 COE into Cat A in May 1999), as well as the better acceptance of Korean model (Accent, Getz, Atos, Rio, etc.). IIRC, the last 1.0L (non-turbo) model sold in Singapore is the Hyundai Atos, which at it lowest price point, can be had for <S$30K. T.B.C.

  14. Hi guys, im driving a 08 SSS. About 2 weeks ago, realise that the car while idling, the rpm was unstable, once in a while the rpm will drop to 500 and jump back to 900 causing the car to vibrate. It wasn't so bad but was irritating at first. About few days back, the unstable idling become worse, sometimes the car even stall while idling. Today, the car stalled 3 times during a traffic jam and 1 shot stall 4 times at the red light. When stalling, the car doesn't jerk, the rpm just smoothly drops to 0 rpm and the engine die off "peacefully". I was told that it could be dirty throttle body. However I did throttle body cleaning by a freelancer about 20k milage ago so I dont think the throttle body gets dirty so fast. general servicing including spark plugs was done not too long ago. Clutch, gear oil all less than 1 year ago. My engine is also stock however currently using open pod. Could anyone enlighten me the problem? Was told to go for throttle body cleaning again however I read online that dirty throttle body seldom leds to engine stalling so im not very sure thou
  15. An inconsiderate motorist hit my parked car and ran away after leaving a dent on the front passenger door of my car, along with scratched paintwork extending to the rear passenger door. I was quoted >$2k by an AD, and told it would entail replacement of the front door and 4 days' of work. In contrast, Alice's wizards repaired and repainted the damage in 3 days, for a fraction of the price. My expectation was that some evidence of the damage would of course be left behind. To my pleasant surprise, I could barely tell there was any damage at all after their work, and even pits and dings from previous stone chips or doors opened by clumsy passengers of other cars have been repaired. In addition, there were classic Ferraris being lovingly restored there as well, and if these wizards can do those cars justice, I'm sure they will do a fine job for just about any car. To not recommend this establishment to others would be a sin.
  16. Hihi, any Sx4 owners care to come in and share abt your experience from dealing with CM to finally driving the car?
  17. Day 3 of the trip. Woke up around 9:00am to great weather. (You can check out Part 1 and Part 2 for previous entries on this trip) Before setting off, I took one last stroll around the hotel's vicinity and the beach. One thing I learnt from this trip was time was way too tight. Even though I had a nice pool and a beach at my disposal, I never found time to go for a dip. Upon reaching the car after checking out, I was flabbergasted to find some dog poo on my windscreen. Great start to the morning I guess... Decided to go pass the dam and back on Jalan Teluk Bahang for one last blast of the B-roads as I wanted to try out the newly built second bridge that starts from Batu Maung which will then lead us back to the main land. Saw some gravel and did some unnecessary stuff while no one was looking... Doesn't the road look inviting? Note the drop on the right side of the road! More scenic views while descending from the hills.. Alas, bad luck struck again. Seems like the bridge was closed for some last minute maintenance upon arrival. Back to using the old bridge then. From then on, it was the long drive home. It rained at times, making the driving a bit dreary as visibility dropped and so did the speed. At least the occasional supercar and a good lunch brightened things up. Overall, the trip was a success and I would recommend everyone to try going up at least once. However there are a couple of things I would like to highlight to all readers. Firstly, it is a pretty long drive. Eight hours to be exact for a one way trip. Having another driver or stopping over at Kuala Lumpur would be a better idea. Secondly, a 3D2N stay at Penang is too short! I missed out on quite a few other attractions like museums and temples that were said to be worth visiting. Lastly, do a full check up on your car first before you do a trip. Unfortunately, I forgot and halfway through, I was out of gas for the air-con. Needless to say, it got pretty warm at times.
  18. For those of you who have been reading my posts, you would have probably guessed that I am pretty fond of Suzuki's little Ignis Sport. But alas, like what others say, all good things must come to an end. With the Ignis Sport's time almost up (blame it on the silly COE system here), I told myself I had to do an epic drive in it before it goes. Epic? Unfortunately, we live in Singapore so there aren't going to be any Stelvio Pass or scenic ocean roads to drive on. So I guess Penang will have to do. Having decided on it being a 3 days 2 nights trip, I knew time was not going to be on my side. So on one fine Friday morning, I set the meters to zero, filled the tank up and started driving. The GPS said I would reach Penang around 4:00pm but I felt it was a little too optimistic. Soon, I was in Kuala Lumpur and headed towards Ipoh. Still felt pretty fresh even though the Ignis was not the best car to cross countries in. Then the haze suddenly appeared as I was at the Petaling Jaya exit. It got pretty bad and I had to cut our speed. By then it was already 2:00pm and we had to stop for lunch and fuel. Ipoh passed quickly... A couple more hours later, Penang was within reach. Note the Vios up ahead that was also taking this long drive up! Signboard showed two bridges. I planned to go to the newer one (leading to Batu Maung) but missed the exit to the bridge! Sneaked a quick shot on the older bridge. It took me another hour to locate my hotel (Spice Residence) as it was not easy to spot. But once we stepped inside, all was forgiven. This was one charming and cosy place! The room had a nice, distinctive decor too. Nightfall came and we had dinner at Lebuh Kimberly. Char Kway Teow was good but the prawn mee was pretty average. After the simple dinner, some coffee was required to wash down the oily stuff. Chanced upon and decided on Sugar Honey as it looked like a nice place to chill out. Happy to report that coffee is cheaper here as compared to Singapore. Before the day ended, we hopped over to another cafe for some desserts. The cake is pretty good here at China House.
  19. Hi Recently my swift was stalled on the road due to radiator water leakage, the radiator are empty when I open up the cap, temperature show H for a while before it turn back to C even through the tank are empty. After the workshop check the car, I was ask to replaced the radiator tank and water tank as both leakage. But after I drive back , the engine light start to light . They check but could not find the correct code. The car will start to jerk and rpm will start to move when the car is idling. They suspect the engine are overheat and could already damage. Tonight I went back to the car and open up the radiator cap and notice all the water inside the new radiator are gone as well. Could it be possible ?this are a 8yrs car with more than 200k mileage .
  20. Animal abandonment is a crime in some countries but not in Singapore. My sis's car cam captured a video of a lady abandoning a white rabbit along Lor Pasu, this place is full of stray dogs during the night. Apparently, the owner has picked the worst place in Singapore to abandon her rabbit. A irresponsible pet owner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vw8TQcSdk9g
  21. Bibill

    Suzuki APV

Anyone feedback on this ride? Price looks economical for a 8 seater. How is the drive, fuel consumption and overall performance? Thanks.
  22. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singaporeseen/this-urban-jungle/police-looking-for-witnesses-to-2-incidents-involving-dangerous-drivers Champion stopped his car in the middle of PIE to show his displeasure after being horned. Classic example of big worthless EGO
  23. HI all, Its time of the year for me to change my tyre as front 2 gg botak soon. My ride is 2009 Suzuki Swift sport. Tyre size should be 195/50R16. currently using Hanhook Ventus S1 Evo 205/45R16. May i know if the tyre size matters alot if i continue to use 205/45R16? or is it recommended to use back 195/50R16. I remembered that I had used this 205/45 because 195/50 hard to find in market. Any good tyre to use? No tracking, just spirited driving in Singapore and this S1 Evo saved my life 1 month ago during raining days in Lornie Road when 1 idiot make a sudden U-turn. Lastly, The screw track of my wheel( the one that is used to screw the rim to the car) is spoil. May i know where can i change it? Thank you everyone!
  24. Feeling a little cooped up with work a couple of weekends ago, I felt the need for a drive to reward myself after all the slogging. Knowing that Singapore has no ideal road for driving, I chose to head up North like many other car enthusiasts searching for some decent asphalt. After a call and a quick discussion with a mate, we made our way towards Desaru. Not knowing where to stop for good breakfast after using the Second Link, we stopped at some random coffee shop for some tim sum. Nothing fantastic to be honest. It was not long before we got on highway E22. Long and straight road equals huge urge to step on it. Okay, this was shot by my passenger when it was going downhill and I did not notice the excess pressure on the throttle. There was some no speeding involved. At higher speeds, the Ignis Sport remained surprisingly stable with no hint of floating. However, the close-ratio gearbox meant that the engine could never really settle down. The lowered suspension coupled with the car's short wheelbase also meant that it was not the best cross-country machine to be in. While not apparent on our smooth local roads, Malaysia's bumpy roads sure bounced me around in the Recaros quite a bit. A good example of badly paved roads. Notice the part where the road joins the bridge? I misjudged and went over it at high speed and oh my, I swear i had some air time! Totally did not expect that and I was definitely more cautious after this. Meanwhile, the F30 BMW 320i driven by my buddy looked like it was soaking up all the undulations very well. I did wish I was driving that instead. The iconic suspension bridge of highway E22. Pretty amazing to me. A quick turn into 90 and 92 brought us to The Pulai Desaru Beach Resort where we took a break. Chose not to nap despite the hammock looking very tempting. Not the calmest of seas but safe enough to play in. Soon we were on the move towards Sungai Rengit area to have some seafood lunch. This was where the Ignis Sport shined. Free of traffic, I soon found myself going at a decent pace. On these small roads with some blind corners, I was able to push hard as the steering fed vital information to me. Gearbox ensured the engine was kept on the boil. Stopped by the last part of road 90 for some photos... Pretty scenic actually.. Alright, I admit I was damn hungry and food photography was totally forgotten. Sorry people. Food was tasty enough for the price but nothing much to shout about. With nothing much else to explore around the area, we headed home. And now slightly familiar with roads on the return journey, let's just say I had even more fun going back!
  25. I have been eyeing the new Suzuki Swift Sports 1.6 (CVT), by am wondering if they will survive in Singapore. Anyone have any insights? LTA's new registration of cars by make (2014) shows that they sold only 1 car in the month of January, and now they are having a weekend clearance sale! And I don't see new models in their pipeline that could keep them going. Naresh.
