  8. See what I posted in reply to Fisheye about the Federal Tire SS 595. It looks like he got a real good bargain for the tire at $64 per tire. "Grip is as good as a T1S" Hmmm...... Will this break the cheapo performance tire reign of Kumho 712?
  9. Just came back from Taipei..took a few quick pics..
  10. Everybody knows of the accident involving Taiwan actress Xu Wei Lun recently. Just received photographs her accident vehicle which is a Mini. Also attach is a newspaper report of how the accident had happened. Very sad story.
  11. I'm planning to upsize my 17" RIM to 18" RIM. I'm having a dilemma to decide Option 1 - 2nd hand Jap RIM (ie: volks racing) 1st hand is too ex !!! Option 2 - New and cheap Taiwan RIM I can't decide to purchase 1st hand Jap RIM because it is too expensive and worried attract thiefs to steal the RIM. I can accept Taiwan RIM if the reliability and quality is acceptable. I understand you get what you pay as long as 'safety' is not compromise. I don't track, but I do chiong NSH highway and sometime take fast corners. Safety is crucial. So, what do you guys think ? Will you pay $2K for 2nd hand Jap RIM or new Taiwan RIM ? I think the price is almost the same. Thanks !

  17. Broz, I'm deciding to upsize my rims to 15". Any reviews on KR and Kyowa or RM rims ?
  18. Hi just curious to know which is better? Getting repilca Taiwan rims? Or SSW? Or Advanti? Heard some repilcas have very decent light weights as well. But question is whether they are good enough compared to house brands of Stamford(SSW) or Yokohama(Advanti)? Need to look for relatively cheap rims (15") but yet durable. Hopefully light as well. Sorie that I sounded cheapo.... Btw does 15" come in 5.5 rim size as well?? And wat tyres goes well for normal driving?? Ziex 512? Thanks!
  19. any recommended local shop for taiwan rims..? low buget.. so considering taiwan rims 1st..

  21. Hi, I'm a newbie to rims and am thinking of changing my stock Lancer '03 15" sports rim to something more sporty (mesh?). Was quoted $110 for the KR 15" hyper-black (gunmetal colour) rims (taiwanese) at Sin Hin Co (Bukit Merah), plus another $150 for trading in my current rims. I'll be keeping my Yokohama aspec DB tires. Is that a good price? What should i look out for when choosing rims? - 1 piece or 2 piece?: what's the implication here? - material?: does it matter if its alloy or spray painted etc - weight?: lighter = better fuel consumption, but more likely to dent if i hit a hole? - number of spokes?: does this matter or purely aesthetic? - country of origin?: taiwan, malaysia, thailand - which are 'better'? i am looking for affordable rims and good value for money. Thanks!
  22. Is the price SGD 1K for brand new 17" Taiwan Rim with Falcon 326 215/45 reasonable?
  23. Hi all Heard from some folks about Taiwanese rims. What are some of the brands? I think there is Avanti and VIA (incidentally, anyone knows what this stands for?). Any others? If anyone knows of any website links to these wheels, please let me know too? Thanks!
  24. Am in taiwan today, and took a Ford Modeo taxi. What so interesting is, he has these on his car: - Mercs 3-point logo standing in front of his bonnet - Mercs logo at the back - Mercs distributor logo at the back - C220 logo at the back - Mercs logo at all 4 weeks What's more funny, later he saw a S500, and told me that that's the elder brother of his car, his is only 220 :-P But his got "Turbo" and can go from "0-140km/h in 5 sec" !!! I jokingly asked: "ST220 ah", he replied: "Huh ?" Boi-ta-han man !
