  4. Are u guys aware that there's a high profile martial art matches between Kung Fu and Muay Thai last week? Below is some articles and a video i googled More of the matches video can be found at Youku (Maybe some kind souls wanna search and link here) November 24, Beijing Time, the Chinese Kung Fu [功夫, gong fu] vs. Professional Thai Kick-boxing Competition Organizing Committee issued a public announcement: The 2009 Chinese Kung Fu vs. Professional Thai Kick-boxing Competition will be held in 2009 December at Foshan in Guangdong. The competition will use Chinese wushu rules as a foundation, integrated with a portion of Thai Kick-boxing rules, allowing the two opposing combatants to use elbows and knee techniques to attack their opponent, with every match having five rounds and each round being three minutes. Recently, Thai boxing champions have become crazy, wanting to challenge the Shaolin Temple, even spreading around that they want to beat the Abbot Shi Yongxin onto his knees. The five champions of Thai Kick-boxing are: "神目杀" [shen mu sha], "鬼见膝" [ gui jian xi], "魔术锥" [mo shu zhui], "拳灭风" [quan mie feng], "屠龙肘" [tu long zhou]. This time, all five champions will appear, with their original motivation being to "destroy Shaolin". When a journalist asked whether "destroy Shaolin" was putting things arrogantly, the boxing champion 考克莱 [kao ke lai] waved his right fist disdainfully saying: "Tell Shi Yongxin to come to the ring and then see!" There was even a Thai kick-boxing champion yelling: "Even my woman can defeat Chinese kung fu!" Why did he say this? Apparently, there was an amazingly beautiful Vietnamese girl who had previously fought against Chinese kung fu, and that this Miss Ruan just so happens to be the girlfriend of one of the Thai kick-boxing champions organized to come challenge [the Shaolin Temple], thus explaining this kind of talk http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Muay-Thai-Fi...ha-t319105.html http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2009-12...ent_9083198.htm http://forum.globaltimes.cn/forum/showthread.php?t=9736 http://www.kungfu-fans.com/chinese-kung-fu...ing-live-video/

  16. April 29, 2008 Thailand to sell its entire rice stockpile: PM BANGKOK - THAILAND'S premier said on Tuesday the country would sell all of its 2.1 million tonnes of stockpiled rice at a cut price to relieve shortages and try to curb soaring domestic prices of the staple grain. Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej said his cabinet on Tuesday approved the plan to gradually sell off the rice stockpile in five-kilogramme bags for 170 baht (S$6.80) each. A bag of Jasmine rice currently costs more than 200 baht. 'This is aimed at relieving the current rice situation,' Mr Samak said. 'Money from the sales will be spent on purchasing new rice to replace the stockpiles.' World rice prices have soared this year, a trend blamed on higher energy and fertiliser costs, greater global demand, droughts, the loss of rice farmland to biofuel plantations, and price speculation. Thailand is the world's top exporter of rice, and international demand for its staple grain has soared after other top exporters Vietnam and India imposed limits on shipping rice overseas to ensure domestic supply. The benchmark Thai variety, Pathumthani fragrant rice, was priced last Wednesday at 998 dollars per tonne for export, up from 512 dollars a tonne in January this year, the Thai Rice Exporters Association said in a price survey. Domestic prices have followed a similar trend. Thailand, which shipped an estimated 9.5 million tonnes of rice overseas last year, has been at pains to convince the world that it has no plans to curb supplies. -- AFP http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/...ory_232334.html so complacent... neber take opportunity to blame on oil, on gold, on global problem, on every mother son, and just up the price then throw in a few cts discount to the poorest of poor just to pacify their population. haiz.. how can so complacent... when got chance to make more. then can up his pay at same time.

  18. Sad story, even with another ten years. Singapore soccer still cannot make it. Who is this player No.22 He is a joker... instead of crossing from the corner, he dribbled the ball out himself. Got thrash 3-nil. Asean champion gotta to wake up it idea. This is my dedicated Singapore Football song. There was a time when people said that Singapore soccer cannot make it, but they really can't. ... ... ... We built a team, full of joker... ... ...

  20. KHUN SAMUT CHIN, Thailand — At Bangkok's watery gates, Buddhist monks cling to a shrinking spit of land around their temple as they wage war against the relentlessly rising sea. During the monsoons at high tide, waves hurdle the breakwater of concrete pillars and the inner rock wall around the temple on a promontory in the Gulf of Thailand. Jutting above the water line just ahead are remnants of a village that has already slipped beneath the sea. Experts say these waters, aided by sinking land, threaten to submerge Thailand's sprawling capital of more than 10 million people within this century. Bangkok is one of 13 of the world's largest 20 cities at risk of being swamped as sea levels rise in coming decades, according to warnings at the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change meeting held here. "This is what the future will look like in many places around the world," says Lisa Schipper, an American researcher on global warming, while visiting the temple. "Here is a living study in environmental change." The loss of Bangkok would destroy the country's economic engine and a major hub for regional tourism. "If the heart of Thailand is under water everything will stop," says Smith Dharmasaroja, chair of the government's Committee of National Disaster Warning Administration. "We don't have time to move our capital in the next 15-20 years. We have to protect our heart now, and it's almost too late." The arithmetic gives Bangkok little cause for optimism. The still expanding megapolis rests about 3
