  1. Hi all, need to seek help from anyone who knows this indian FT by the name Hussain Sibtain , previously working in Ta Ta consultation. Run away some money from our company. He moved from his old place in Flora drive to somewhere in Woodlands. We are trying to track him down but even police can't help. Will appreciate if anyone is able to provide his address to me. Thank you...hp 83831444

  3. comfort will bite their nails.... By Deborah Choo "I just do the free rides just to put a smile on people's faces and just say 'hey we're all in this together," said Isaac Ong, 23. Isaac and his former fellow Temasek Polytechnic course mate Ruby Tan, 23, took to the road first on Tuesday last week after midnight to offer free rides to any Singaporeans in light of the recent cab fare hikes by ComfortDelgro. The pair pasted a big handwritten sign "FREE RIDES" on the bottom left of the black Honda Civic Issac's father readily lent him. They set out to pick up random people to extend their little effort to anyone who wants a ride. On that night, they picked up two passengers. Isaac drove out again yesterday picking up another two lucky passengers. Isaac admits that he too is a frequent taxi customer because he rushes from meetings to meetings. However, he recognises that their efforts are unable to change the situation. "I don't think we can do anything about it. I haven't taken a taxi since the announcement of the fare hikes but eventually I think I will succumb to it also. But I know it won't be the last." "Of course, if something can be done, that'll be great," he added. The news of the recent price increments by ComfortDelgro, one of Singapore's largest market share holder in the cab transport industry, annoyed most Singaporeans. The flag-down is now 20 to 70 cents more. The online attacks came fast and furious with one Facebook group called "Boycott Comfort Delgro and its Fare Hikes" already set up. "I read from an article years back that once Comfort increases its fares, the rest of the companies will follow suit because they don't want to lose out when the taxi drivers want to change companies to earn more. That's what I read, and I think it makes sense," added Ruby, a freelance writer. Indeed, SMRT reacted fast to its competitor's increments, and also announced fare hikes. On Monday night last week after the news broke of ComfortDelgro's price increases, Isaac and a group of his friends were exchanging ideas when he suddenly thought of giving people free rides. His friends and family were all supportive of the idea. By noon the next day, the idea was in motion. The duo went about getting paper and pen to randomly draw up a sign last minute and took to the roads approaching all who wanted a ride after midnight. "I was just nominated by our friends who pushed me to accompany him!" Ruby laughed. The duo was clearly in high spirits when they filmed a video during their first adventure in the car. His handsome boyish looks and great sense of humor proved to be infectious as the passengers happily interacted with the pair. "Though the idea came out of the recent comfort fare hike, the motivation to do this was more than anything else to bless Singaporeans from my love for my people than a protest," he said. Isaac revealed that the response has been wonderful so far and thinks less of the costs that he had been forking from his own pocket. "Sometimes when I drive, I see people giving us thumbs up." This charming, down to earth youth is currently self-employed. One month ago, he founded Colours Global Pte Ltd, a humanitarian organization that hopes to fly Singaporeans over to third-world countries to extend support and help to the poor. The word 'colors', Isaac said, was because he hoped for volunteers to paint houses for the poor. The ex-St. Hildan Secondary student only set up the company a month ago and plans to bring it further. "I've always wanted to do this but never had the resources. I feel that a house is not a home," said Isaac. He added that being poor should not stop anyone from enjoying their living conditions. "Hey, are you guys together?" this reporter threw the question out. "See I told you everyone's been saying that!" Ruby told Isaac. Both of them laughed it off but quickly added, "No no, we're just friends." "Are you planning to continue doing this?" I asked Isaac. "We'll see. As a Christmas special, we are planning to hit the road again sometime next week but the time isn't fixed because we have to work around our schedules." Deborah Choo used to write for an array of websites such as Youth.SG and The Online Citizen. She now blogs in her free time.

  10. More and more disappointed with what they publish online nowadays. Are there no other letters of public interest? The following simple thank you letter to some specialists of a private hospital is worth putting up for all to see? Can't this guy just write to the specialists or the hospital directly instead of letting you, me and hundreds of thousands of other folks know? But the most amazing part is that the editor apparently thinks so. From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Online...ory_745316.html Gratified by medical treatment at Mount E I WAS treated at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and compliment Dr Leow Cheng Gek at Jade Medical Clinic and Dr Li Yung Hua of Orthopaedic Associates at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. 13. Ok folks, read about this post from Toyota Club SG Forum. Not a complaint really but based on what was described in the post and subsequents that seems to confirm this chap's uncouth driving style and ethics, I do hope you guys can keep a look out for him. As far as we know, he could be living in the vicinity of EdgeField Plains. I know drivers like this chap is aplenty but such an attitude is incredible. So folks, if you happend to see him on the streets, avoid him at all costs... Mods, I didnt post the licence plate number. It appeared by itself. Exerpts from TCS forum... This is just a shout-out to all the good folks out there to be vigilant against a certain black-hearted Toyota Picnic driver. On 18th Nov last sunday at around 730pm, i was returning with my wife from Malaysia JB back to Singapore. i was driving my black Altis and have passed the Caltex petrol staion and heading towards the innermost customs booth which were the furthest in. I stopped right next to the pillar to await my turn to join the car quene right in front of me as it was slightly narrow for my car to go through. We were just 20m away from the customs booth and there was a car's length between my car and the car before me. A vehicle (white Toyota Picnic) bearing the plate number SBL32X on my right suddenly cut into my lane as he wanted to take my lane as it was shorter. My wife and me felt the car shaking as the Picnic grazed onto my right corner of my bumper. During that point in time my car was stationary and I had no time to react like reversing or such. From that moment on it looks like he was attempting to just drive off without stopping so i quickly alighted and knocked on his passenger door side(i was nearer that door) to ask him to alight to talk about the accident. The driver, a male Chinese in his late 30s(wearing specs and short hair cut) then got out of his vehicle. His wife or girlfriend who was sitting at the passenger side subsequently also got out. After arguing and inspecting the damage to my car, he agreed that he was at fault and offered to pay compensation to me. He asked me to drive the car a little forward on the pretext that his camera phone cannot take the picture of my car damages at my original location as it was very dark. I obliged. During that time i proceeded to take a picture of his car plate number as well. (attached). We exchanged contacts by writing our names on pieces of paper with our hp numbers as well. I said i would prefer to do my repairs at Borneo motors as they offer the same color paint. We then arranged to meet up at Borneo Motors Leng Kee on 20th Nov at 1400hrs so that we can get a quotation for the damages. After which we went our seperate ways. I wish to state prior to today, I tried calling the driver's handphone numerous times and send a few smses, however the number was finally answered by a lady (I'm not sure of the race but sounds like an indian lady) who did not spoke proper english telling me that i got the wrong number! I waited at Borneo Motors for well over 45 mins in the hope that he's not a swindle and still have integrity to show up for the fixed appointment. I was wrong. He didn't show up at all, nor made any calls. After that, i made a police report at Alexandra Neighbourhood Police Post. I know there's probably nothing more i can do at this juncture other than paying to fix the damages myself, but i would like to alert all the drivers in Singapore to be on the lookout for this guy who really has proven himself to be a man without intergrity and honour. I wasted some sleepless nights and half a day's leave for nothing. On hindsight i was told by my friends that i should have either gotten a written agreement that he will pay for the damages and his NRIC number, or demanded compensation on the spot. Thanks for your time in reading this. It really felt better just by writing this down my frustration at those kayu drivers can just can't stand up to their mistakes on the road. Pls help to circulate this to your friends so that we can be vigilant against this irresponsible driver. If ever you have the "good fortune" to know the driver as well (he maybe in this forum who knows), pls remind him that what comes around, will go around. This was posted recently on stomp by the victim rather reluctantly and lo and behold, some stomper posted this reply: taffy2775 said on 26 Nov, 2007 Haiya. This Idiot! My family member got bad experience with him at my Punggol Edgefield Plains carpark. Dammit! He die2 wanted to enter carpark by the CARPARK EXIT while at the same time I was about to exit.He refused to budge despite several honking. When he finally moved, he stared at my driver as if we committed a big crime. Until now, if we see the car, we call it the Idiot''s Car. Curse him! What goes around, comes around. I wonder if this chap has kids. If he does, then I wonder what kind of things will the kids learn from daddy. Simply cannot understand why some people cannot be considerate, gracious and giving on the road. Their attitudes on the road probably show a lot about their character

  18. A man says that his wife is being forced to sell her body in Geylang. Mr Luo (49, security officer) believes that his wife, 47, was taken away by her former supervisor (age 36). His wife worked as a cleaner in a coffeeshop in Bedok North. Luo's wife had gone missing several times and was only recently found in Geylang. A friend had informed Luo of a woman who looks like his wife at Geylang Lorong 12. The woman was soliciting men for sex. Luo went to Geylang to see for himself and found his wife standing in the street, with her head bowed low and smelling like she hasn't bathed in days. The woman appeared fearful and kept repeating to Luo that she was being forced to sell her body. Her ex-supervisor had supposedly threatened to burn down her house, and she felt that she had no choice but to do as he demanded. Luo explains that his wife is very scared of trouble and her ex-supervisor is exploiting her fear. He also found bruises on his wife, and believes that the ex-supervisor beats her when she fails to make money on the streets. "She told me, when she makes money, they will stay in a budget hotel. If not, she will follow him and sleep out in the streets." Luo believes that his wife is doing this because she is worried that her family may be harmed by her ex-supervisor. He claims that the ex-supervisor targets ignorant older women, usually cleaners and dishwashers, and manipulates them. Luo's wife has since gone missing again and he has lodged a police report.

  21. Hi guys, i got many info and help from here and i just wanna do my fair share to let you guys what just happened to me this morning when i go into JB for my regular car servicing. As tomorrow, 22 nov 2011 is a public holiday in JB, my workshop do not have enough man power so i booked the earliest appointment and was rushing down from home. I set off at about 9am hastily and when i cleared the immigration area, i saw the officers checking the fuel guage on EVERY car. I looked at my fuel guage and HK... it was 1/4 only. Totally forgotten about it and thought that's it for me, and i was thinking of trying to say i wanna u-turn back. Fortunately, there is a Wish infront of me and he was pulled over after the officer checked his fuel guage. So starting from me onwards, there is no one checking and i just passed. bloody lucky and got the buy 4D feeling already... BUT WAIT..... Drove into M'sia and cleared the immigration. As i was just about to exit the area, M'sia side also doing check. But i saw them randomnly stopping certain cars. I was stopped eventually and this young punk in uniform ask me open all my door and boot. He saw i had a portable desktop speaker in a box and asked me to open. I bought the speaker 2 days ago from Sim lim square and it was faulty, so my plan was to bring it along, and i can drive straight to SLS for an exchange right after my car servicing. It doesn't make sense for me to go all the way back home to take the speaker and then turn to SLS again i thought. So this young officer say cannot bring in. It is a taxable item. I just keep quiet. Then he started asking me off topic qns like: 1. Is your car stock? (Was driving an old school SiR) 2. Where i get my bucket seat 3. where i upgrade my brake 4. how much power my car has 5. What suspension am i on.... WTF man. I was thinking wad the hell he trying to do. Then, came another guy in civilian clothing, apparently the In-charge there. He gave me a jiao bin and the young officer told him about my speaker. He start to look at my car again and this time he spotted that my car don't have the SG road tax paper. OMG suay like F because i was doing a full car wash and removed the label and most probably left it at home. So i told him the whole story but he refuse to listen and ask me to go sit at a table. Here's the short conversation write up: In-charge : You know you cannot bring in speaker ? I will fine you. it is taxable. Me : Sorry sir, give chance la i seldom come in and this is a spoilt speaker (and i tell him my whole intention) In-charge (ignored me and interrupt me) : I don't care what you say, you think we malaysia can anyhow la? In singapore you scared, don't even dare to throw a piece of paper, but you think you come in you can anyhow with us la? Me : No sir ! I was really going to service my car you don't believe you call my workshop now ask. In-charge : How i know? ha? you bringing your car go inside sell illegally right! Me : No no no... Why would i do that? Sir just give chance I seldom go in JB. you can check my records. I got no offence. In-charge : (pressing a calculator anyhow) you see min i can fine u $200 already. 20 times is $4000. (then he open a book with all the carbon copies of the past fine and show me. I saw some $600 fine some $1000 fine) Me : Sir give chance, this one my first time kenna. In-charge : ok you tell me how much u have ? Me : (scared he will check me so i told the truth) I only have SG$200. really. In-charge : Ok you service car how much you tell me ? you tell me ? Me : (dunno if it was a trick qns and i anyhow bom a amt) I think $100 la sir. In-charge : Ok i fine u the remaining SG$100. Me : ok ok thank you sir. ( didnt wanna argue anymore) Then suddenly his jiao bin gone and become like very nice and ask me go to a small room pay. I was issued a receipt and they just took my SG$100. (Later i will post a pic). I said thank you sir and faster zao. He replied don't do it again. So guys just take note when you going in JB anytime now! I personally really not sure of what's taxable and what's not so i'll treat this as a school fee. Basket, should had just said i only have $50. They seriously anyhow fine one. Now in JB dunno later go back SG will tio again or not... zzz.. update you guys again. Great morning everyone.
  22. NS call up deferment rejected unfairly-any solutions? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just a quick background.. I was recently hired in the Finance department of a local Bank. As an accountant, my primary job is to ensure that the Bank's books are closed and financial statements are prepared in a timely manner. As any accountant can emphatise, the Bank is listed on the SGX and the timely completion of its December 2011 results and financial statements are of paramount importance. This is in order to ensure the timely announcement and publication of its results on its webiste per requirements. I had been called up for my reservist training in the first week of January 2012 which is arguably the most critical period of my new employment for the aforementioned reasons. Failure to be around during that peiod would mean a likely poor apprasial and hamper future progression within the Bank. Having recognised that, I had requested my Human Resource Department to write an appeal letter. My Comanding Officer "CO" rejected this appeal. I went to see my Member of Paraliment "MP" to explain my situation. My MP was most kind to write a letter of appeal on my behalf. Unfortunately, this second appeal was rejected again by the CO. I was offered no reason nor even a basic call from the CO to discuss the matter despite repeated request through various channels (My request to be given a number to call was refused). I had clearly stated my willingness to attend my call-up obligations at any other time of the year. MINDEF should recognise that not every Singaporean male is trying to shirk their liabilities and should seek to understand each indvidual's unique circumstances. Furthermore, if not addressed such practices are puntive to the employability of every Singaporean male and contary to the sprit of fair competion with our foreign counterparts ....having said that...after asking my HR and MP to help what else can I do? Im lost...and I REALLY cant go reservist during the period...any solution brothers? http://talkback.stomp.com.sg/forums/showthread.php?t=122287
