  3. If this is available here, it will cost about S$160K+- including COE (about S$30+-), would you buy it?? VX220 is a bold, exciting statement from Vauxhall. A specialist, high performance, two seater, open top sports car aimed at the serious driver. Designed and developed by Vauxhall in co-operation with Lotus, experts in chassis dynamics, VX220 is a potent performer that delivers on the promise of its state-of-the-art features. Inspired application of leading edge design and technology have produced a roadster with a bonded aluminium chassis and composite bodyshell that not only endows VX220 with superb torsional rigidity, but provides an exceptional power to weight ratio. VX220 may be rare, but it is simply a driver's dream. It is a true reality, backed by all the solid virtues that come with the Vauxhall badge.

  5. Britain's MG Rover has scored an historic victory over Germany's BMW, beating the famous marque five-nil in an independent consumer survey carried out by researchers NOP. The results will feature in national press advertising campaign, starting July 19. The testing took place at Croft Racing Circuit. NOP assembled a panel of more than 100 consumers to assess the similarly priced MGZT 190+ and the BMW 318i SE. The panel judged both models across five categories. Using a combination of driving exercises, questionnaires and interviews the panel evaluated the cars on quality of exterior and interior, driving experience and performance, handling, driving enjoyment and overall desirability. The research revealed that the BMW lost considerable ground to the MG on the road. More than 90% of the panel judged the MG to outperform the BMW, which trailed the MG for throttle response, straight-line performance, acceleration, braking, sportiness and top speed. Seventy-one per cent favoured the handling of the British car, which recorded higher scores for responsiveness, cornering, agility, ride quality, road holding and body roll. An overwhelming 86% enjoyed the overall driving experience more, behind the wheel of the MG, compared to just 14% that enjoyed the BMW. Reasons cited for this by respondents included the car's character, the excitement of the drive and the impression the car makes in a crowd. When it came to looks, functional yet dull German design lost out to eyecatching British styling. In the appearance category, the MG outpointed the BMW for sportiness and distinctiveness while the model's overall looks were considered by 75% of the respondents to be more impressive than the German car. The BMW interior was also marked down. It was beaten by MG for colour, comfort, roominess, styling, seat support and dashboard appearance. Overall, only 20% of the panellists preferred the German interior, compared to 80% that opted for the MG. Finally, almost all (91%) of the respondents stated they believed the MG was better value for money than the BMW. John Edwards, sales and marketing director, MG Rover commented: "You always take a bit of a risk when you commission an independent survey, that makes direct comparisons with the competition. We were fairly confident that the same money buys a lot more MG than BMW but we were completely bowled over by the results, which gave a conclusive victory to the MG ZT. Five-nil seems to be a familiar result when we take on Germany". The full survey can be viewed at www.mgbeatsbmw.com

  9. "Keep it simple, pure, and beautiful." The words of GM vice president Bob Lutz when launching the Solstice concept in the US. This was the basic requirement for Vauxhall's stunning new concept car, the VX Lightning. Being launched as a centrepiece to the company's Centenary celebrations, the VX Lightning is a two-seater roadster based on the same technical foundation as the Pontiac concept Solstice, first seen at the 2002 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Vauxhall's roadster concept, however, has been designed for British tastes, at GM's UK Advanced Design Studio in the Midlands. Under the long bonnet of the VX Lightning is a new version of Vauxhall's all aluminium 2.2 ECOTEC engine, reworked with a supercharger to produce a maximum power of 240hp and 305Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox is mated to the new engine, which drives the rear wheels. The chassis incorporates independent suspension, the front end using a simple and reliable strut configuration with a rack and pinion steering. At the rear, the independent suspension is all aluminium for weight saving. Overall, the car manages a near perfect 50:50 weight distribution for the best in handling and agility. Kevin Wale, Vauxhall chairman and managing director says: "The VX Lightning says everything about where Vauxhall is heading. The car represents a return to our early performance roots when Vauxhall was famous as the manufacturer of the first true British sports car - while we continue to be both innovative and bold in exterior and interior design. "We have made great strides recently in terms of our interior packaging through cars like Zafira and Signum. Vauxhall is also about pure driving excitement - just look at the new VX220 Turbo. "Ultimately the VX Lightning, as a classic roadster, represents the best of our past, and our future - a vehicle that is quintessentially British." DesignDesigned in the UK, the VX Lightning is a classically proportioned sports car with a long bonnet and short rear overhang. There are also some subtle echoes of the past, including the rollover hoops sculptured into the rear deck and bodywork which flows down into the cabin. Fitting for a car with the presence of the VX Lightning, it sits on 19inch alloy wheels at the front (fitted with 245/35 Michelin Pilot tyres) while at the rear massive 20 inch alloys are fitted with 255/35 tyres. Inside, deeply sculptured seats are finished in black and red leather, while red leather has also been used to trim the sweeping dashboard. There are currently no plans to build the VX Lightning concept, however Vauxhall will be closely monitoring public reaction to this great new car VX Lightning - technical specifications Body/chassis structure: unique GM platform, based on the Solstice, with front engine and rear-wheel driveBody material: compositeChassis material: all steel, unibody Suspension: 4-wheel independent, strut front, adjustable for rate and travel Powertrain Engine: modified, supercharged ECOTEC L850 2.2L 4-cylinderEngine displacement (cu. in/cc):134/2200Max. horsepower (hp/kW):240/179Max. torque (lb.ft/Nm):225/305 TransmissionGM T56, six-speed manual (5th/6th gears overdrive).
  10. With reference on my earlier thread: If Gadie can be like this.. http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...e=unread#unread The owner have just done some upgrading to his Putra... The second Picture: There is the partially transparent bonnet, revealing the Evo III powerplant, stainless steel accesories and also the novelty piece, the Nissan Neo-6 engine cover. Yes, when this car grows up, it want's to be a Skyline. There is the 3 little external gauges more for show than anything else. The intercooler has also been replaced with the Fidelity Radcore custom-built unit to fill in the large air dam this front bumper provided. Very shiny. Other shiny parts include the Stainless steel splitter under the bumper which might slice little puppies if they got in the way and the side air spliters which really does glare the viewers in bright sunlight. I hope they're as practical as they're as pretty. There's even little winglets added to the side of the R33 Skyline style rear wing.
  11. dunno why i put myself through this over and over again. always have to scrap a car that i love. it makes me sick living in this country. i absolutely love my 33 sportwagon, but past few months of effort to search for a buyer to keep my car alive has turned futile. i can't afford to keep 2 cars so i have made a choice to scrap it. tomorrow, she is going to be strip apart and scraped. probably the last time we see an alfa romeo 33 sportwagon roam the streets in this country. cheers
  12. Came across this website.. the car was done up very nicely.. How I wish Gadie can be like that too....
  13. This morning on my way to GWC, riding on AYE and saw a black car on the road. But i was behind the car all the time so cannot figure what car was that from the back, trying to overtake but can't keep up (already doing 110km/h so dare not go faster , kia-se got TP! ) managed to pace to the side but still can't tell what car was that [mad] . All i could do was to take down the license plate and check from LTA web wah! it was the James Bond's Car, 'got eyes duno o-e-o' . The driver is quite humble and only doing 120km most of the time After checking the OMV, well its not a very expensive car (not that i can afford ) but there are many cars can be more ex than this. Anyone come across this mean machine on the road??

  15. Quote:- Do The Lobo-Motion! Supermini buyers could soon have another car to choose from. The Hafei Lobo, a Chinese model styled by Italian legend Pininfarina (exclusive pictures in this week's issue of Auto Express) is set to go on sale in its home market early next year. Although it will be built in the Far East, the fact that the car is being developed by Lotus on UK roads suggests its creators have other markets in mind, including Britain. The five-door hatchback is a bold piece of design, and reveals just how serious China is in becoming a major player in the world car market. Key strengths of the all-new machine will include low running costs and rock-bottom prices, even when compared to Korean rivals such as Hyundai. To achieve this, equipment levels will be kept low, and the engine line-up will initially be limited to a 1.1-litre petrol unit, while the Lobo is expected to be priced around
  16. Hint: the new WRC version will be launched soon

    How's this?

How's this for a change? Mod for looks, not for speed. Some will like it, some will not.
  20. Just want to check whether this is normal or my ears are playing tricks on me.... My front speaker is located at the lower corner of the door nearer to the kick panel. I find that the "listening experience" actually changed when there is someone sitting on the front passenger seat. That is, without a front passenger, I get a balanced SQ but when someone is sitting in front, the right side is more dominant. Is this normal?? Thanks in advance.
  21. Some pics to share of a Santa Fe SUT (Sports Utility Truck) Regards Lester
  22. Hi all, I realised that I have not asked this question here. I drive a 92 Presea (M). In my car, there is a "csshh" sound that comes from the engine bay when ever I change gears above 3000rpm (which is 95% of the time). It sounds like air being released through a valve. It is quite loud, and can be heard with the windows up. With windows down, I've heard it when in a building, and it would sound rather loud to a pedestrian next to the car. I do drive the car hard, and at every gear change up from 1st to 5th, it is always there. I've asked my mechanic a few times, he's even driven it to hear the sound, and he says that he doesn't know what it is. My engine is definitely stock (my mechanic vouches that), and I've never ever heard the same sound from another car. It is not like a blow of valve or waste gate, that I know. I have driven my car for a year, and never really cared, as I've grown accustomed to it. Please help Thanks
  23. i think it looks antique to me.
