  1. The old thread was 9 years old already Continue here adding last reckless post This 2 year old toddler is super lucky to be alive after having 2 SUV driving over her. Can't really blame the drivers as the girl is exactly at the vehicle's blind spot. All drivers, do take note of your surrounding as much as possible. You may just save a live...
  2. Hi all, do anyone encounter such chipping from your tyres before? Hankook kinergy DOM (5214) Detected the chipping more than half a year ago. All chipping only on the outer side of tyre. https://ibb.co/m6wvHQ https://ibb.co/bRSPBk https://ibb.co/huc2xQ https://ibb.co/nvKPcQ https://ibb.co/gZL845 https://ibb.co/iKM4cQ https://ibb.co/gAVaj5 https://ibb.co/mJRRrk
  3. /against the rules here? any car owner letting off their car (2 years or less)?
  4. Following from the earlier thread on how we move forward, let's realign what constitutes the above accordingly so that we can ALL be on the same page and start threads without any hesitation. Rationale: Threads were merged as the same discussion was duplicated in different forms and the posts cut across different threads, fragmenting the discussion and making it difficult to read. Same topics of the SAME issue were posted and thus, the SEARCH function was encouraged so that the general MCF population did not have to sieve information unnecessarily, ie, all were consolidated Starting threads on the vein of getting the thread of the month leading to numerous additions Thus, on that vein, the SAME topics were then merged. Going forward, it has been too successful and perhaps diluted the threads with posters posting topics under a SAME/SIMILAR thread that had no specific context. I apologise for that as it may have been too zealously praticed. That said, the list below could serve as a possibility of variations (non exhaustive) of what constitutes merging/splitting of threads What kinds of threads could be merged? Threads of the SAME issue posted in the day/last few days that is bordering on the SAME topic. This leads to fragmentation of threads /discussions that makes for difficult reading. Threads with a trend of occurring almost every day. Case in point SMRT breakdown. If threads were to created daily on SMRT breakdown, 70% of threads will be on that. Other possibilities are flood, reckless. hoggers, etc. If at all, it's good to see big trend of the same incidents occuring What stands as a NEW thread? Any new incident that occurs, that is newsworthy. (However, this again can be debated, for eg, the OTC mountain. Clearly there was no merit in starting a new thread there that may just last 20posts and die off. Another case was the crocodile sighting where it was added in and the thread renamed on the different sightings in sg. Helpful to see a trend) New ROAD trips New cars released - reviews could be posted under this thread too These are some of the thoughts that I personally have, and it is on the premise of making things more consolidated and reader friendly. The disadvantages that could arise are: Threads run a short life and just die off. This would be natural progression of interest in a thread, Ambiguity and posters can still drift on a particular topic in a specific thread making the need to split posts from threads more prevalent. Please add on and @therock did have some thoughts so do add on here. Thanks and these are just MY thoughts
  5. It's the beginning of the month and I'm starting a EDC (everyday carry) thread. I'll start the ball rolling [/url]
  6. Lets move on............. although ah phaik may be 'retained' by her powerful backing for another 10yrs, lets give some thoughts to the above just in case.... - Should the new CEO be someone from the rank of SAF scholars / top brass? or some elite civil servants / miw comarades? (eg TLP, to let her 'shine'?) - What Quali / track records he/she must have? ('connections' can be counted?) - What are the first things he/she must address and produce results within first 6 months? - What major changes/revamp (including making SMRT public?)?? - How to make the salary package truly performance-based? - etc etc (pls add) Thank you hor.....
  7. From time to time threads will be dissappeared, for what we can only presume are valid reasons - would it be worthwhile noting which threads are made to dissappear and why? perhaps this could also be combined with a reason for bannings or other editing decisions so that we can better understand what is going on?
  8. I'm starting a mathematics thread since there seem to be mathematics enthusiasts in here (myself included). Go ahead and post interesting and challenging questions. A box contains 100 balls numbered from 1 to 100. It 3 balls are selected at random and with replacement from the box, what is the probability that the sum of the 3 numbers on the balls selected from the box will be odd? Remember to time (max 2 mins) yourself because this was taken from a timed exam

  17. Why!? Why!? Why?! are we still seeing such cases??? Still ask for discount??? CCB! http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/courts-crime/story/employer-used-household-items-hit-and-burn-domestic-worker-2015052 Employer used household items to hit and burn domestic worker By Elena Chong SINGAPORE - A woman heated a metal ladle until it was red hot and placed it on the calf and bare back of her domestic worker because she did not like the taste of the curry she cooked, a court heard on Friday. About a week before that, Suganthi Jayaraman, 33, used a metal pestle to hit Ms Naw Mu De Paw, 24, on her head for not frying vadais - a deep-fried snack - fast enough. The Myanmar helper bled heavily from the two spots she was hit, but was forced to continue frying, and to take the vadais to a provision shop which Suganthi and her husband were then running. Suganthi pleaded guilty to three of seven charges. The offences took place at her flat in Woodlands Drive 16. The court heard that during the time the helper was abused - from July 9 to Oct 2, 2013 - she lived in constant fear of being beaten again. She was often afraid to tell anyone about an incident and did not even dare to inspect her wounds as Suganthi would scold her for it, said Deputy Public Prosecutor Sarah Chua. Suganthi would also threaten the victim that she would get into trouble if she ran away or called the police. The victim eventually left the flat on Oct 3 and called the police. On the morning of Sept 30, Ms Naw woke up late because she had been working till 4am the night before. She was supposed to be up by 6.30am to send her employer's daughter to school. Suganthi confronted her and scolded her harshly after finding the girl still at home. Then she punched her in the face. Lawyer Louis Joseph said his client, who had been crying in the dock, deserved some discount for her guilty plea. "Even though her behaviour was unforgivable, she stands before you remorseful and regretful for what she had done," he told District Judge Christopher Goh, who will sentence her on June 5. Suganthi could be jailed for up to 10-and-a-half years and fined for causing hurt with a heated substance. The punishment for the other two offences is a jail term of up to three years and/or fine of up to $7,500 each. [email protected] Copyright © 2015 Singapore Press Holdings. All rights reserved.

  19. As expected from my thread title, I drive a mitsubishi lancer. I'm not very good with cars specs to be honest and I've been driving this car for nearly 9 years now. I've had very few issues with the car even though I've closed nearly 300k of mileage. Is Mitsubishi not as popular as other Japanese car brands? If so, how come? Genuinely curious.
  20. have you guys ever felt guilty about how you reacted on the roads? i thought this could be a good place to pour your heart out. anyway, to the grey lancer SG*1102* i dont know if you surf this forum, but i was the silver golf that honked at you when you were trying to come into my lane to get onto MCE. i turned together with you and after i was done turning, i saw your signal and even before i could react, you started coming into my lane and i got a shock and gave a damn long honk and braked hard, to which you waved an apology. i'd also like to apologize for holding the horn, and i appreciate your apology. been quite a rough day for me and i got a shock when you started coming in just after the right turn.

  24. http://news.asiaone.com/news/crime/man-54-sexually-abuses-5-year-old-girl-promise-ice-cream A man who lured a five-year-old girl away from her family and then proceeded to sexually abuse her has been sentenced to jail for eight years. The unemployed man, 54-year-old Chin Wei Foong, lured the girl away with the promise of ice cream, Lianhe Wanbao reported. The incident happened on the morning of March 9. The girl had arrived in Singapore from Malaysia that morning with her mother and grandmother. The girl later accompanied her aunt and grandmother to a charity recycling event that morning at Bock 202 in Tampines Street 21, while her mother stayed at her aunt's home. At about 8am, Chin, who had just eaten breakfast at a nearby coffeeshop, chanced upon the girl at one corner of the HDB block, helping with some recycling task. He waited for about 30 minutes before finding an opportunity to strike, the Chinese daily reported. While the adults were distracted, Chin asked the girl if she wanted ice cream, and succeeded in luring the girl away. Chin took the girl to the void deck area of a nearby HDB block. He then removed the girl's pants and put his finger into her. He then took her to another HDB block and bought her the ice cream he promised her. Chin was arrested on the way to the event, at about 10.30am, with the girl. The girl's grandmother had called the police after searching for nearly an hour for her. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Reading this news report really make my blood boils!!!! Damn TL with the bloody fu(ker!!! As a father myself, I really feels for the innocent young girl and her family... Hope they will be able to get over this unfortunate episode... :( Any advices from daddy with young kids? Hope the advices can serve as a precaution toward future unnecessary unhappiness.
