  1. Hey mates im thinking of doing the about to crank even more bhp out so im thinking of either swapping the existing TB (not sure of diameter) with a 60mm/57mm TB or getting it bored out. This is on a W204 M271 engine so anyone has any idea of the possible gains?
  2. ever since got my car 2 years ago, have not wash my throttle body. anybody know of any shop do a good job and price reasonable, thgt of gg to JB for this job. I also dun want to the shop to use those canned stuff to spray and wash, prefer they dismantle the TB and wash it
  3. Some time ago, when I sent my car for servicing (and it was not those major servicing mileage or interval), I decided to get my mechanic to take a look at my throttle body. I had driven the car for about 9k mileage and before that, it was a major servicing done and the mechanic had cleaned the throttle body. To my surprise, my mechanic told me that my throttle body was very dirty. End up he has to clean my throttle body. 9k mileage was equivalent to approximately 4 months of my driving. I was using stock filter all the way at that time and the mechanic checked my air intake path and hose. There was no leakage. He diagnosed that this was possibly due to the dusty/dirty environment or road conditions which I have driven my car. To a certain extent, I agree as I am staying near the industrial estate in the North. I can see the 2 big giant joysticks with smoke emitting at the tip almost everyday. But that was not all. I drove anywhere and everywhere including highways, expressways, city driving though notably these days there are a lot more vans and lorries with more black exhaust fumes than ever. However, I find it hard to believe that after only 9k mileage, my throttle body is so dirty with using stock air filter. My filter is very black. Of course, the throttle body has not reached to the extent of making my idling erratic or engine stalled. I just cannot figure out why or the reason behind. Perhaps brothers here can enlighten me on any other possible causes. I am using 030 engine oil and platinum spark plugs for your information. Thanks!
  4. Anybody knows roughly how much will the above cost (inclusive of installation)? Also would appreciate if you have any good workshop to recommend... Asking on behalf of my friend... Thanks!!!
  5. Hello Comrades, Need some advise from experienced drivers in here....my ride is AT....if I change to bigger throttle body by 1mm to 2mm....will it improve the ride's response ??? Or....should I stay away from this mod ??? Thanks in advance....
  6. IT WAS their bench which they would sit on almost every night chit-chatting. But on Saturday night, Mr Mohammad Anis Kamsani and his fiancee Nurliah Sulaiman's meet up turned disastrous when a driver lost control of her car when reversing into a parking lot about two metres away and rammed into them. The impact was so great that part of metal bench was uprooted with Mr Mohammad Anis, 26, sitting on it. It was dragged away by the dark blue Toyota Corola before coming to a stop about 10 metres away. Miss Nurliah, 23, was flung to the side of the basketball court where the bench was located. Police received a call about the accident which happened at Block 221 Yishun Street 21 at about 11.30pm on Saturday. Mr Mohammad Anis was pronounced dead by paramedics after sustaining severe injuries at 11.50pm by paramedics. Miss Nurliah survived and was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where she was treated for injuries to her face and leg. She was discharged on Sunday morning. - Straits Times Sad. Wonder what really happened. Maybe female driver panicked, hit accelerator even more when she wanted to brake. If this was what happened, then it's tragically quite commonplace in SG. Sigh.

  8. Hi, I sent my car (Chevrolet Optra auto) for servicing over the weekend. One of the item was cleaning of the Throttle Body cleaning by using Carb cleaning spray. After the service, whenever when i start the car, there is a high rev sound and the rpm needle shoot up and stay around 3-4 region. Only when i shift to Neutral or drive gear, the sound and rpm goes back to normal at 1 region. My car is not so smooth as before and the vibration has increase noticetably. The mechanic that service my car said that it may be due to the carbon deposit after cleaning the Throttle body and ask me to drive for a couple of day and it should be ok. Is this normal, or the mechanic trying to cook up story for something wrong that he has done to my car ? Will cleaning of the Throttle Body affect the computerise tuning of the car ? Anyone who has experience care to share and know what is the possible problem ?? Thanks
  9. Hi bros, just a question, what solvent could be use safety to clean TB? Is carb cleaner safe?

  11. Just wanna share my DIY experience on my TB on Tue just by following some DIYs posted on other country car forums. 1. My setup before removing the filter and pipe 2. After removing the open pod and pipe and heatshield 3. Next is to remove the 2 x connectors, 2 x coolant hose with a plyer to loosen to hose clip, 3 rubber air hose on top ans lastly the 4 bolts.
  12. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I understand that a bored throttle body will improve low-end torque (and therefore increase FC) whilst changing your final drive ratio will improve your high-end torque (and therefore decrease FC). If I were to do these two mods together, what's the final effect? Will I have both improved low- and high-end torque? Or will these be cancelled out? Also, what will happen to my FC? An overall increase, decrease or no change? Thanks!
  13. Hi there, 1. Anyone know of reputable workshop that does TB servicing? 2. My understanding is STAR is charging $98 to cleans injector, intake valves and combustion chamber. Should we incorporate TB servicing as part of our maintenance routine to restore lost power and acceleration? Regards,
  14. since i buy my civic esi on last yr dec...throttle body changed b4 alreadi...the new TB had been to washed by workshop mechanic twice...all becoz car has been jerking... everytime after mechanic clean liao acceleration is smooth & no more jerk...after 1 month lidat come back again... so now i suspect is not TB prob liao... Any bro can advise wat went wrong? May it b the intake?
  15. does this Dirty Throttle Body problem only occur frequently for VW based cars? i've had mine cleaned more than 5X already. I suspect that it may be related to the oil from the K&N replacement filter that i use.......... anybody needed throttle body cleaning and was still using the OEM paper filter?

  19. Like to seek some advice here. If Using enlarge or ported throttle body will improve the preformance, even though no port to the intake manifold? If there is improvement even without porting the manifold, As for nissan sunny B14, using ga15de engine, there are several doubts. 1) which other model throttle body can fit my? 2) Porting one roughly cost how much, and port how much bigger? Thanks
