  1. What's the difference between these 2?? i notice that my car 'idling' will drop after certain period, and have to tune up the idling point a bit inorder to maintain the same rpm, else it will be too low and it will vibrate too much...and also once the rpm drop below 1K, the fan vibration sound will be heard(mostly at night when headlight is on)... i am driving an old swife, with 3 piston engine. i know it will vibrate but sometime the idling needle will drop to near dead and suddenly jump back again... this is especially so when traffic jam. for info: engine mounting changed, throttle body not in good condition (as told by mechanic), spark plug new, aircon compressor changed, hmmm what else?? cant remember also. Any good ideas??
  2. My toyota hiace van is nearing 100K and I am going to change the timing belt. Do I need to change my other belts together? Where can I buy original toyota timing belt?
  3. ok, i've told some bros about the knocking sound at heavy loads, WOT (eg accelerating in 3rd or 4th gear past 4000RPM). at normal cruising, partial-throttle or light acceleration, the engine is smooth as baby's ass. i stared hard at my engine just now, tracing some lines. i have a theory about the knock. seems like the distributor vacuum has been bypassed. it's just a loop-back (if that makes any sense). with a single tube connecting to both inlets of the distributor's vacuum actuator. i'm assuming one's for vacuum advance and the other is for vacuum retard. so at 4000RPM in 3rd or 4th gear (heavy load, WOT, zero vacuum), the dizzy doesn't get retarded. thus KRAR KRAR KRAR KRAR! i haven't got access to a timing gun yet, but i'm assuming it's very advanced static timing right now. i also realized that this advanced timing is causing the engine to kick back at the starter motor when it cranks, causing a screeching noise. what do you guys think?
  4. Hi there ... Wondering if any bros can advise on how to do a check on my timing belt as i heard that i can check by feeling the "teeth" of the belt to see if it's worn out ....or if there are any special points to take note of ... Cos' I am worried that the belt might give way ...

  11. Timing Belt Change At 50,000km For Aveo5 Advise Wanted! Any Experience Engine Savvy to advise. My Aveo5 due to reach 50,000km soon & Engine seem very good & normal. Should I change Timing Belt at 50,000km as recommended or drag further to 70,000km. Drive only on Singapore Road, changing at 50,000km seem too early.
