  1. Unless you know tires r not safe to use. U posted 80% thread left but in fact its < 50%. If I can tell the threads are out, I would have pointed out to u. $80 and having risk my family life, its a good lesson learnt. BTW, I think you Mr Lum right

  3. Hi guys. I bua my rims against the kerb a few days ago and scratched my rims badly. Morever my tires gonna become botak soon. I had a few options in mind and i hope to get suggestions from you guys. My SiR is currently on 15". I went to Chen Jin Tradings this afternoon and the boss quoted me: 1. Change new 15" rims and use back tires - $400 + 2. Change new 15" rims and new eagle F1 tires - $650 + 3. Change new 16" rims and new eagle F1 tires - $950 + Chen Jin official website The boss said one tire cost about $120 and I'm quite doubtful of all the pricing he quoted. So i hope to get feedback from you guys. I personally fancy option 3 but to up 1" is additional $300 ! So which option do you think i should go for ? or should i go for option 4: 4. Repair existing rims + respray ($300 +/-) I'm in a dilemma and hope to get useful feedback from you guys =) thanks! For those who intend to give stupid suggestion like asking me to change car, PLEASE EXIT THIS THREAD NOW. Thank you.
  4. Hi My stock tires are 185/65/15R. Can my current rims fit a broader tire, say 205? I'm thinking of changing to 205/65/15R. Thanks
  5. Ok guys, be prepared to pay more for your rubber - I meant rubber that is worn on your car Yokohama Rubber Co. recently announced that it would increase the export price of tire products effective January 2010. The price increase applies to all exported tire products for passenger cars, light trucks, trucks, buses, and vehicles for construction and industry. The domestic market is spared from the price hike. The maximum markup is around 15 percent, with even larger markup applied to specific regions and products. Reason given for the price hike is that Yokohama is unable to absorb the increase in prices of natural rubber and crude oil products anymore. I did some research on the internet and found that Goodyear, the world's largest tire maker, has raised the prices of it's products in North America by 6 percent in November 2009 to offset higher raw material costs. Hence, it seems like all tire makers will soon follow the footstep of Yokohama. The chart above shows the movement of the crude oil price over the past one year. Indeed, it is showing an upward trend and I would expect the trend to continue as the economy picks up further in the coming year. It looks like drivers have to be prepared to fork out more for their tires in the coming year. For those who are intending to replace the footwear for their ride, do make your way to your nearest tire shop real quick.
  6. Hi Just wanted to change all 4 tires (got 4 spare ones at home), got quoted for $50. Not sure if there's any cheaper ones that are caring enough to take care of your rims?
  7. hi guys , i'm selling off my federal tires 595 . profile :205/45/16 80 % thread left & it's going for only 160 only....... sms @ 81042794
  8. Been hearing from many places that tires that are not made in their country of origin are inferior. Y is that so? Isn't the compound used & manufacturing processes automated? Can anyone pls enlighten?
  9. Criteria as above.. looking for tires that have soft sidewalls and relatively quiet I have in mind Kumho SPT(KU31), Federal SS535, Federal 595EVO, Hankook V8RS which is the best for my application?
  10. Hi, anyone kind soul knows of any other tire shop selling (MIT) F1 eagles tires? at competitive prices , other the usual well reputated taya shops in amk , SH and PH?
  11. Has anyone shipped in tires or wheels sets from overseas - eg Tirerack, etc? Seems to make economical sense but I'm newbie on this.
  12. Fellow bros, my car fuel consumption goes up ever since i've changed tires... my previous tires were hankook while i've changed all 4 tires to perelli... does the increase in fuel consumption haf anything to do wif the new tires? or is there anything i need to take note of? pls enlighten mi... Btw. the tires that i've changed r all to the previous specs of my old tires... so there is no change of size in my new tires thanks
  13. hello comrades, would appreciate some inputs here. thank you in advance. Tire Width vs Tire Diameter same size of rims with same tire tread design...which of the below will have a higher FC ? a) 245/50R19 = wider tires b) 235/55R19 = higher sidewall, bigger overall diameter. Speedo Deviation vs Total Distance Travelled. if with the above latter Oversize tires, the speedometer displacement is 5.6% from my stock tire configuration 225/60R17.....ie when my speedo reads 100kmh, my actual speed is 105.6kmh. from the below link, i found that most parameters had a deviation of 5.6% (diameter, circumference etc.) http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html now the question is.... if i use the Oversize tires, when my meter trip A for One Full Tank is 500km....does it also meant that the actual distance covered is 528km (plus the 5.6%) ? awaits your kind contribution.
  14. What are your take on this? Worth the trouble??? Or jus change in SG???
  15. hi bros, i think this topic might be discussed before, but i cant find it. How do i know if a tire can fit on my rims, say 7JJ offset 38mm, can 245 tire fit in? where can get these info?
  16. Big Hi to ALL, Can input some personnel reviews on MAXXIS tires in local road, especially those with MAXXIS MA-Z1 VICTRA. Which tire shop to go for? and how much? Thanks in advance for your genuine comments
  17. hi all, how abt a little sharing of experience of the tires u used previously and present? i start first.. 1) Goodyear NCT-5 -- normal street tires, nothing to shout abt.. dry 3/5, wet 2/5 2) Bridgestone G3 -- one of the better ones i had, noisy though.. dry 4/5, wet 4/5 3) Firenza ST-03 -- slightly better than NCT-5, wet is lousy.. dry 3/5, wet 3/5 4) Firenza ST-08 -- quiet, comfort tires.. dry 3/5, wet 3/5 5) Falken St-115 -- very good, noise level when new is ok but wear and tear fast.. dry 4/5, wet 4/5 6) Falken Ziex 912 -- at new is good, gets noisy after awhile.. wear and tear fast.. dry 3/5, wet 3/5 7) Goodyear Eagle F1 -- definitely a good wet tire, dry is so so though.. dry 3/5, wet 4/5 8) Goodyear RevSpec RS2 -- Decent, exceed expectations while on wet.. dry 4/5, wet 4/5 9) Continental CPC2 -- just change, no comments yet..
  18. Went to check out the VW caddy today, but before I met the SE, I was checking out some of the models in the VW range. I was pleasantly surprised to see Hankook Ventus Prime as the spare tire in one of the hatchback models (shd be the golf). It's as if VW feels that hankook is good enough, but paiseh to use it as the main tire . btw, the scirocco is nicer in the metal than in photos. at least imho for those who are interested, the caddy 1.9 TDI DSG performance is quite decent, but i felt much more kick from the opel combo i tested yesterday. The combo feels quite a bit faster by my butt feel (wife concurs) and is also faster on paper for the century sprint, but the funny thing is that both the Triangle Auto (Opel commercial vehicle dealer) and VW SE think the caddy is faster.
  19. hi bros...!! anyone here can recommend me 17inch tires at acceptable price near the east area?? less den $300 per tires prefferred.... currently on CSC3 n its time to change liow.... looking for similiar or somewhere near the performance of CSC3 pls.... stamford only have continentals n falkens.... so looking for other tire shops dat sells other different brands... is falken tires any good? anw can someone oso recommend me a workshop dat does good servicing for toyotas? ive been servicing my car at stamford....... thinking of finding a reliable workshop to service my ride.... thnx!!
  20. After reading through the Tyres and Rims threads, I'm of the opinion that Kumho KU31 remains the most value for money UHP tries among the competitors. I guess, F1 probably comes pretty close. The 2 models have strong followers too. If a 225/45R17 is about $160 a piece, I wonder what other UHP (whether underated or unpopular ones) can beat its price. Any suggestion? Thank you.
  21. As above. Any quiet tires to recommend for Daihatsu Sirion 1.3? Not fuzzy abt other areas, just looking for a set of quiet tires that hopefully remains quiet with mileage. Now running on stock Yokohoma Aspec 175-65-14. Thank you very much.
  22. Hi all, I am about to put my deposit for a used car and realise that out of the 4 tires, 3 of them are sumitomo brands and 1 is bridgestone. They are all 185/65/R15. 1. Is there any (safety, uneven wear & tear etc) implications when the tires are of different brands? Personally i have never heard of "Sumitomo", is it reliable? 2. Could the different brands of tires indicate that the car possibly have gone through an accident before and so ended up in such different combination of tire brands? Looks weird to me. (The original tire brand from TC is Toyo if i am not wrong). 3. Is it better to trade in the tires for new ones? I heard trading in prices are usually very low. Any indicative price for this? Thanks!
  23. Anyone know what brand/model of tire is good for BM Toyota Camry in original size 215/60R16? anything that is below $150 for one tire?? Thanks.
  24. can i use 2 diff pair of tires? juz changed the back pair of tires a few weeks ago as one of the tire the sidewall ruptured... now the front pair need to be changed in a month or so... dont ask me why i didnt change all the 4 tires in the first place... im thinking of changing to Goodyear F1 Asymmetric... right now on CSC 3... so isit possible?? safety wise an issue?? comments appreciated.....
  25. Hi All, Any good and reasonably priced recommendations for tire change for my profile? I was looking at LS2000 and quoted $165/pc. Good price? BTW, now on budget cause might want to change cars in less than 1 year so do not want to spend too much on tires. Thanks in advance for your feedback and recommendations!
