Another report with regards to GE at CNA : GE: Members of committees that certify minority candidates appointed SINGAPORE : The President has appointed members of two key committees that will certify whether or not the minority candidates in the coming general election belong to their respective communities. They are the Malay Community Committee and the Indian and Other Minority Communities Committee. The announcement in Monday's government gazette is yet another sign that the general election is near and that the Singapore Parliament may be dissolved soon. The Malay Community Committee is chaired by Mr Abu Bakar Maidin. Other members are Mr Imram Mohamed, Mr Maarof Salleh, Mr Shafawi Ahmad and Mr Wan Hussin Zoohri. The Indian and Other Minority Communities Committee is chaired by Mr Gopinath Pillai, with Mr Gerard Francis De Silva, Mr K Kaisavapany, Mr Kirpa Ram Vij and Mr Rangareddy Jayachandran as its members. A Certificate of the Malay Community Committee has to be produced by candidates standing for election in a Group Representation Constituency (GRC) which is designated as a constituency that must have at least one candidate from the Malay community in that constituency. Likewise a Certificate of the Indian and Other Minority Communities Committee has to be produced by candidates in a GRC which is designated as a constituency that must have at least one candidate belonging to the Indian or other minority community in that constituency. For the coming election, there will be 15 GRCs. A Malay candidate is needed at Sembawang, East Coast, Pasir Ris-Punggol, Aljunied, Tampines, Marine Parade, Bishan-Toa Payoh, Moulmein-Kallang and Chua Chu Kang GRCs. Nee Soon, Ang Mo Kio, Tanjong Pagar, Jurong, Holland-Bukit Timah and West Coast GRCs must have a candidate from the Indian and other minority community. My guess is most likely 7th May 2011 ............

Hello, I just bought new tyres today - Dunlop DZ101 - 225/45/18. only drove 20 km so far so cant really tell what it is like. Initially i wanted to get Bridgestone RE001 but shop had no stock. Anyone know if this Dunlop tyre is good? How does it compare with RE001?

Haiz... after seeing all the various stories on MCF of people hitting parked cars and driving off, today is my turn to suffer the same fate. Have previously experienced a few times before, but minor dents and scratches. Today's one is bigger scale. But fortunately still not so bad as many of the other reported incidents, so I guess should be thankful for that. I'll just have to ignore and continue. Dun wanna spend the money to repair this - should be 2 panels damage - so perhaps about $200 to repair? Happened at my office building carpark this morning; saw it when I was going for lunch. Too bad no building cameras pointing that direction. Just one of those days....

Read this report from CNA : Youths today happier & more vocal than 5 years ago: survey By Wayne Chan | Posted: 25 January 2011 2230 hrs SINGAPORE : Singapore youths today are happier and more vocal than their counterparts five years ago, according to the National Youth Survey 2010. The survey also showed that youths are spending more time with their family. However, despite these improvements, there were still some areas of concern. 40 per cent of those surveyed said they spent 10 hours or more per week with their families, as compared with just 25 per cent in 2005. 96 per cent also said they are proud to be Singaporeans. More also agreed that there are enough opportunities in Singapore for them to achieve their aspirations. However, the National Youth Council (NYC) is concerned that the percentage of youth involved in leadership roles has gone down by half - from 22 per cent in 2005 to 11 per cent last year. Most youth surveyed ranked "maintaining strong family relationships" as their most important life goal, followed by "having a successful career" and "acquiring new skills and knowledge". To "earn lots of money" came in fourth in the rankings. I beg toe deffer ............ Most youth today are more violent, proud, hot tempered, would just assualt anyone with a slight provocation, spent more time on the computer or games arcades, don't really respect elders and how many would give seats to the needy on MRT & buses. Would just seat or stays at the entrance of MRT & buses and refuse to shift for ppl to alight.......

Bad day today... Early morning, on CTE towards City.... on most left lane, this auntie in dunno bm or merz coming out of slip road of AMK filtered in without signalling and giving way when i was going straight... i had to swayed a little towards the right n jammed brake, thankfully no car... it shocked the hell out of my friend... Afterwhich, evening from PIE going into BKE from Jurong, nearly got bang by this Cherry accelerated and filtered into Lane 2 from Lane 3 when i was almost halfway done filtering from Lane 1... had to jam brake again Last woman... a Toyota Wish, jammed brake at traffic light when it was still green, it hit yellow the moment the car stop... and when the car stop, the rear was just after the stop line, luckili i was at least a car length behind or would have hit its back.... Last was a male driver, parked his car just behind me, blocking my only way out and went to buy bubble tea.. his passenger was in the car.... i hope these ppl would have at least the courtesy to have the passenger go buy and driver in car to at least move the car if the blocked car driver came back... waste my time honking! :angry: I juz had to remove my camera last nite and forgot to put it back... grrrr...... Just ranting......

Today is the first day LTA taking over five functions from Traffic Police. * Enforcement and administration of illegal parking offences; * Issuing permits for carrying of loads on vehicles; * Issuing permits/ authorisations for use of excluded vehicles on expressways; * Closing roads for repair and reconstruction; and * Gazetting of speed limit for roads Saw a group of LTA bikers with the vest indicating " LTA enforcement Officer" at Wisma and Taka issuing illegal parking tickets. bros....watch out -

By contrast, BMW's N54B30 (a 3L turbo engine) produces ~330HP and 450Nm torque. Can fight even evos and WRX easily (stock for stock of course). But the 600Nm toruqe allows the diesel car to pull ahead long before the WRX or Evo's turbo kicks in....

Just now after dinner, I hear someone pressing my door bell. I went to take a look and a man introduce himself as a staff from the RC. Saying that Minister for XXX and also also MP for YYY GRC is paying house visit to residents and tell me to provide feedback to him if i had any. I am quite surprised coz I remember the last time got minister come talk to me personally and show concern is duno how many yrs back and shortly after, I am issued a coupon telling me to tick one of the box and drop into a metal box at a nearby primary sch on a particular date. Talk to him for awhile and close door. Then I realise yesterday when I came home from work ard 8PM, I saw several workers doing maintenance work on staircase, corridor doors, shifting of potted plants etc. I thot how come so siao on for the authorities to carry out work at night. And also several guys in office attire inspecting the corridor and surrounding area. Now I know why..

hi, today what such a bad day for me. was involved in a accident along paya lebar road during evening. what happened was a civic lady driver from 2nd lane cut into my left lane and she hit a motorbike. So the motobike hit my car and the rider got sandwich and my car got scratch marks. Was a few deeps lines. Ask the lady why she cut my lane she say got a car just cut into her lane. Even got withness but i think she should slow down or horn the car which she did not. what if my car was not that she would knock the motor rider down. After taking those details we left the sence and duno why the rider nothing happened seems left hurry. Call him and sms him no reply as i think i shl claim his insurance then he claim the civic insurance. Then a car workshop owner happened to be there and say all stories wanna help out in claim * duno why when there is car accident there is always a car workshop owner around??? what should i do? report to idac 1st right or go to workshop and file report and repair my car damages!

Chio a 335i for a short sprint today and managed to beat him by quite a margin (something like 10m) when I hit 100KM/H. As I push to 150-160, the 335i couldn\'t keep up at all. It really feels good man. Read about all that 335i power here in MCF but its nothing much leh. MY car is a modded S13....SR20DET power!....hehe.....

i had a traffice light sprint with a modded S13....SR20DET. I have to say i beat it through and through...almost like 10 car lengths in 10 secs. Feels wonderful
