  3. Which is your preferred choice? For her, it is best to go with tour agency in a group for convenience. I think it is better to be on our own to avoid nasty/idiotic people when travelling in a group. Why pay and end up not enjoying the trip? What's your take, bros & sisters?

  6. CNA Local tour group camps out at travel agency over dispute By Zhao Quanyin / Qiuyi Tan | Posted: 10 July 2011 2140 hrs SINGAPORE: A group of tourists were bound for Shanghai but found themselves at the travel agency. The group of ten tourists said they were expecting an agency staff to meet them at the airport, and provide information about their hotel and trip arrangements. However, no one showed up. One of the tourists, Charlotte Lee, said: "The whole team waited for him for about two hours. And then he miraculously picked up our call at around 10:10. His first response was, 'Why aren't you on the plane?' How can we get on the plane when we don't have any details at all? Like, are we going to be stranded in China? I think that was the biggest concern we had." They said they were told to board the plane at 11am and that trip details would be sent to them via SMS. But they decided not to, and came to the travel agency for answers. Police arrived at the scene shortly after noon and asked the group to move their bags away from the agency's front door. The agency then proposed an afternoon flight to Shanghai, which the group did not take up. Jonathan Tan, Manager of SA Tours, said: "We arranged for a staff to be at the airport to assist. He would not affect the trip at all, actually. Because our staff was not there to help, the group totally lost confidence in the company, and abandoned the tour by their own choice." After a five-hour wait outside the agency, the group left. The group said it is planning further action. -CNA/ac

Once at the destination, can rent a car, book taxi, or take public transport to get around. Even better if that country has English speakers and signage. Everything is OTOT Why sign up for some tour package where you must depart at 8am, shuffle to a different hotel every night and bring you to get chop carrot every day?

  13. Hi all, Contemplating to bring in a few Malaysian friends (no old folks, got young ladies and some have not been to Singapore) to savor street food in Singapore. I'm not someone who is really into food but is eager to get it organized. Basically, I need to bring them around to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner all in one day . Not going to being them around to places of interest but probably bring them to eat and get to see places in nearby. I will pick them from JB and drive them back to JB after dinner. Probably rent a mini bus. The objective is to get them familiarize with some of the common makan places so that next time they know how to move around. Should I bring them to Geylang? or Chinatown, riverwalk, pasir ris, CCK? or some cheap buffet like S$9.90 at Marina? Come, give me some ideas. really need it. Thank you very much. Regards,

  23. Was watching the Channel U news a few minutes ago. There is a tour agency in Chinatown who cheated customers by receiving cash but issued fake air-tickets. The customers only managed to discover this fraud when they were at the airport. Besides losing the money, some customers have left their passports with the lady boss. Apparently, this China-national lady boss has fled back to China with the money, leaving the husband in Singapore to take the rap.
  24. There are a few Tibet tour operators but not sure which one is better as we know very little about Tibet. Seems like the itineraries are slightly different on cities. Anyone with good and bad experience? One thing I know is the altitude. Need to aclimatise fast, otherwise will have bad headache.
