  1. Toyota Rocks SEMA with 220 MPH Twin Turbo Land Speed Cruiser Land Speed Cruiser Set to Become World’s Fastest SUV TORRANCE, Calif., (November 1, 2016)—Broad shouldered and confident, the vaunted Toyota Land Cruiser authored the rulebook for Sport Utility Vehicles. This year, the Land Speed Cruiser will write a new chapter in the SUV’s history book. Debuting at Toyota’s 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show display, the Land Speed Cruiser is a low-slung, purpose-built sled of a vehicle capable of generating more than 2,000 hp and a top speed of 220 mph that leaves most sports cars in the dust. “From the outside, the Land Speed Cruiser appears quite normal, quite subtle,” said motorsports technical center manager Chuck Wade, who built this vehicle with his team of engineers. “This is what makes it so special. Every single system and component has been touched. The trick is getting the body back onto the heavily modified frame.” The build team surgically extracted the outer shell of a 2016 Land Cruiser. Beneath the surface of the Land Speed Cruiser lies the rugged durability of Toyota’s 3UR-FE 5.7-liter V8. A volleyball-sized Garrett turbocharger flanks each bank of cylinders and breathes directly through front inlets in the specially designed aerodynamic hood. The engine is linked to an ATI transmission. “I love the challenge of taking a vehicle and making it stronger, faster,” Wade added. “Making something beyond outrageous keeps me coming back for more.” “With the Land Speed Cruiser, we are breaking all of the normal conventions of what an SUV should be,” said Steve Appelbaum, Toyota Motor Sales national egagement marketing manager. “This is a vehicle is truly a feat of engineering.” The Land Speed Cruiser is Toyota’s answer to the extreme. The 2017 Land Cruiser represents the present, and the first generation 1961 Land Cruiser harkens back to the past. These three distinctly different Land Cruisers—along with numerous other Toyota, specialty vehicles—can be seen in the Toyota display booth (#24800) in Central Hall and on the Patio Annex of the Las Vegas Convention Center, November 1-4, 2016. .......................................... The Toyota Land Cruiser is known for many things, like toughness and durability, but speed is not among the SUV's chief attributes. Until now, that is. Toyota traveled to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas with a rather special version of its Land Cruiser in tow -- the Land Speed Cruiser. And, as that name implies, the Land Speed Cruiser is very fast. According to Toyota, the Land Speed Cruiser will top out at 220mph, besting most super cars available today. Getting a behemoth SUV to travel at that speed was no easy task however, requiring significant modification to the truck's chassis and suspension setup. The Land Cruiser's 381-horsepower 5.7L V8 also required a shot in order to prepare it for Land Speed Cruiser duty. Although the same basic architecture remains, Toyota was able to lift the V8's horsepower rating to more than 2,000 horsepower with the help of a pair of turbochargers said to be the size of volleyballs. A special transmission was installed to handle the power. "With the Land Speed Cruiser, we are breaking all of the normal conventions of what an SUV should be," said Steve Appelbaum, Toyota Motor Sales national marketing manager. "This is a vehicle is truly a feat of engineering."
  2. Hello! I have a problem with my 1 month old Estima: While driving suddenly I lost power steering, Speed reading and all the warning lights including Engine, Power steering, traction control and ABS came on. The car remained drivable and the engine sounded the same. Brought it to the service center (PI) and they said it was a bad battery, changed it. Problem happened again and they changed battery again. Finally they also changed the alternator at my insistence but the problem continued. They then blamed the drive camera for draining too much battery. I've been asked to unplug it and see if the error comes back on. I have a HUD which reads real time voltage. I noticed that when in Park, its always 13.8-14.2V. When I drive, for the first few mins it will remain in this range. After that, on the road it will suddenly drop to 12.2V when the accelerator is being pressed. If I stop stepping on the accelerator while the car is moving at speed, the voltage will jump back to 14.2-14.4V. Also when I turn on the lights the voltage will jump to 13.7V. Turning on or off the air con makes no difference. I'm wondering if this is normal behaviour for the Estima or do I have a problem with some electronic control component? Thanks for any advice! P.S. Since this is my first post, I'm not allowed to start a new topic but if anyone is kind enough to help me re-post this in the Japan Car forum, I'll be very grateful for the increased exposure!
  3. Here we discuss how durable is your car ...... So far my 9 year old Latio super durable and long lasting and seldom gives me problem . I am the first owner and so far no major issue except replace radiator at year 8.5 , ignition coil at year 7.5 , front and back absorber at year 7 and air-con compressor at year 6.5 . The main problem in Latio is high usage of battery and mine only last less than 1.5 year , and recently I use Amaron seen can last longer ! My mileage now 210,000 km and all these while been servicing by TC . What about yours ?
  4. According to the BM SE, the FL 2015 Asian Camry is coming in about Jun this year. Saw the Thai version brochure below: http://www.toyota.co.th/models/camry/pdf/camry_brochure_2015.pdf The 2.0L has a new VVTI-W engine with 6 speed GB. Although the design of the Asian camry still not so sporty like the US version but I think this new FL looks good!
  5. I was browsing thru sgcarmart and saw this ad on a used Hilux double cab pickup. The dep is whopping 10K/yr which is higher than big sedan like Camry and Accord. What is so special about this pickup truck that can command such a high resale? Bcos it is rare? This amount of dep can buy sport sedan like Euro R. Can this pickup run faster than a Euro R? Ridiculous pricing. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...238&DL=2047
  6. Hi all Jap car user users, considering buying this car (Nissan Latio, Toyota Vios & Lancer) but need your experts input on the maintenance cost. how much do you spent on maintenance on your Latio
  7. Which one is a good buy ? Both about the same price and Harrier higher OMV and different about few thousands in OMV, X-trail offer free 2 years servicing and 5 years warranty and PI consider no warranty . AD VS PI ! 2WD VS 4WD !
  8. Anyone can help shed some light on this? As of 26 May, Altis starts at $121,888 while Vios starts at $126,888. Historically, isn't Vios cheaper than Altis? https://www.borneomotors.com.sg/asp/ToyotaPriceListPassenger.aspx
  9. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...p?CarCode=11315 honestly 100k? isnt Yen at all time low since 2009 P.s. Lets focus on Vios rather than been carried off with other topics
  10. Hi Bros! Just checking if anyone here is driving an Alphard/Vellfire? Was wondering if anyone knows of any forums for the above? Thanks!
  11. Well, some of my insider sources suggest that the pricing of the Toyota Avanza 1.5 which they will be bringing in within this year is benchmarked against the VW Touran 1.4 TSI. Considering that the likelihood of the Avanza's OMV to be less than $20k is very high, it is quite laughable that Borneo Motors' & Toyota's head are still up in the clouds to conceptualize such a pricing, especially in today's COE climate. Its seriously a no-brainer to choose the Touran over the Avanza. The Avanza has the virtues for being a very simple vehicle, armed with a primitive 4-speeder auto-box with an equally anemic 1.5 litre engine. The Touran on the other hand is much more well-built with up-to-date drivetrain (7 DSG), engine (1.4 twincharged) and safety equipment. Even the curb weight difference is telling (1410 kg vs 1095kg)... The question is will you buy a $100k+++ mini-MPV meant for developing markets such as Indonesia and Philippines? For sure i won't...
  12. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_PIdealer.php?dcode=1291 Has been eyeing on this for a couple of months. Considering to replace my Hyundai Avante to Prius C Borneo currently listed price is @ 102,888
  13. Didn't see any thread on this so start one. http://2017cars.news/2016-toyota-ch-r/ Seems like the arrival of this car is quite confirmed and soon (1Q17?) with Vin Car already posting info and "estimated prices" on thie FB page. This might actually be my first Toyota and would likely end Vezel's domination. Would have preferred a 1.6T option instead of QQ-like 1.2T though....
  14. To be launched in Japan in Jan 06. Stay tuned!
  15. Sigh... i wonder whether will affect me... http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/toyotas-recall-639-million-vehicles-23263661 A Look at Toyota's Recall of 6.39 Million Vehicles April 10, 2014 (AP) By The Associated Press Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday it's recalling 6.39 million vehicles globally for various safety defects. The total rises to 6.76 million if vehicles with multiple recalls — like the Yaris subcompact — are counted for each recall. No one has been injured due to the recalls, but the company says two fires have been linked to a defective engine starter. This is a breakdown of the vehicles and defects involved. 20. Hi that, anyone have experience with the mentioned subject interm of price, performance and fuel consumption? I'm trying to gather feedback on these PI cars. Thank you very much. Regards,
  21. Do u guys think its a good idea to buy a 06-08 mark X? After hearing my fren bad experience with his 2nd hand 5 series, im kinda afraid of buying cars tats older than 6 years old. But i heard mark x dun have much issues, maybe standard wear and tear items. Is servicing and replacement of wear and tear higher than normal cars? Im driving a SSS at the moment and everything is pretty cheap. I also heard that mark x is very accident prone, as the car tend to fishtail due to rwd. I always drive my dad's merc around ( also rwd ) and i think the car is still pretty safe to corner etc, however i read around the forums and people are saying that mark x handling is very bad. anyone with experience driving 1 can enlighten me? What is fc like? im guessing 10-11km/hr? I does about 80% highway every day. Last questions, just asking purely for fun, how come never heard of people lup a bolt on turbo onto a mark X? i can imagine the power it could generate...
  22. Hi, Thinking of getting either model. Any bros here can share your fuel consumption of both models? Any problems facing both models? Advise is welcome! Thanks.
  23. Borneo Motors has announced its intention to bring in the 1.6-litre Toyota Auris hatchback. In its second generation, the Auris was first displayed publicly at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September. Shortly after, it went on sale in Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. A hatchback body style has been missing from Toyota's lineup in Singapore for a long time. So, the arrival of the Auris will certainly freshen up the Toyota showroom here. Measuring 4,275mm (L) x 1,760mm (W) x 1,460 mm (H), the Auris is slightly shorter in the X,Y and Z directions than one of its main rival, the Hyundai i30. The 1.6-litre Auris features Toyota's Valvematic technology. Valvematic is a further development of the Dual VVT-I system by adding lift and duration control to the inlet valve variable timing. The engine is mated to a MultiDrive transmission, which is Toyota's fancy language for CVT. With 132bhp and 160Nm on hand, the Auris sprints from 0 to 100km/h in 11.1 seconds. This is slightly faster than the i30's 11.5 seconds performance. The arrival of the Auris should not raise any cause for concern for Singapore's favorite hatchback, the VW Golf. Still, the Auris is an important model for Toyota Singapore as it ushers in the new face of the brand with its all-new frontal design.
