  4. Not sure if true or not... but read this off Honda forum (don't ask me why its there...) ----------------------------- TOYOTA Motor is recalling more than 10,000 fairly new Thai-made cars to fix a faulty gasket in the fuel tank and a grease glitch that prevents some front seats from reclining smoothly. Calling it a 'special service campaign', Toyota distributor Borneo Motors said 7,269 Corolla Altis might leak some fuel when fully topped up because of a faulty tube at the top section of the tank. The affected Corollas were made between December last year and July this year. The company is also asking customers to bring in 3,350 Vios made between April last year and March this yearbecause they may not have enough lubrication to allow their front seats to recline. The problem affects some Corollas too. Borneo Motors said it has come across four cases of the faulty fuel tank tube here, but no one has complained of stuck seats. There has been no accidents caused by either flaw, it added. 'Borneo Motors is obliged to take the lead in the special service campaign,' a spokesman said, adding that the company will be writing to ask affected customers to take their cars back so the flaws can be fixed.

  15. The Toyota Motor Corporation has reported a 11.4% increase in its earnings in the six months up to September 30. The company made profits of $5.5bn on sales of $85bn (an increase is sales of nearly 10%). The company reported that sales are growing in North America, Europe and Japan and this was quite enough to offset the effects of unfavourable exchange rates, which has damaged the results of some other Japanese companies. In the six month period Toyota sold 3.56m vehicles around the world, up 12% from the 2003 figures. Toyota also increased car sales in Africa and other Asian markets and says that it expects to have sold 7.22m cars by the end of its fiscal year in March next year.

  17. bro n sis, really need some help here. I'm goin to get a new car very soon .... most likely to be within this week. was lookin at 3 models at the moment, 1) Toyota Altis 1.6 2) Vios 1.5 3) Lancer sport 1.6 Base on all the studies tat i've done, most will say toyota will be more reliable and better build .. y? don't see the point as most will say tat's wat they hear from frienz. Lancer sports realli lookz gd (quality and feel) both inside out, but not for toyota, and personally i will think this is a very imp point as i want to feel gd while driving. But my studies tell me that a lancer sport will be doin 12km/l for FC and Altis will be doin ~14km/l and toyota FC will be more stable as compare to lancer .... how true is this? now here's where i will need some real comments, I love lancer but was worried abot the relibility issue and FC. Vios n Altis will ease my mind from this issue but i dont get the feel when i drive and look at the car ...and also i'm thinking of 5 yrs down the road when i wanna sell the car .. wat kin of problem will i see from these 3 diff cars ? - taking into account that i will be having 10 yrs loan ? thakz
  18. Hi guys, got good lobang for Atlis & VIOS owners. Do you know that our ride does not have an air-con filter but we have a sealed air-con filter compartment? Think Toyota want to save cost la so they didn't install it for us. For more info on this, you can refer to this link http://forum.toyotaclubsg.com/viewtopic.php?t=2112&highlight=hepa+filter ://http://forum.toyotaclubsg.com/viewt...ht=hepa+filter ://http://forum.toyotaclubsg.com/viewt...ht=hepa+filter ://http://forum.toyotaclubsg.com/viewt...ht=hepa+filter ://http://forum.toyotaclubsg.com/viewt...ht=hepa+filter ://http://forum.toyotaclubsg.com/viewt...ht=hepa+filter ://http://forum.toyotaclubsg.com/viewt...ht=hepa+filter I've a friend who operates a car accessory shop along upper serangoon road. He can help us to install the air-con tray + Filter at very cheap prices. He uses only original Toyota air-con filter tray. The brand of the filter he uses is HEPA - the model is uses have carbon compound one (the better and more expensive one). The cost is as follows: VIOS: $75 Altis: $70 He told me VIOS more ex cos VIOS is using a bigger tray and filter - the same as the Camery and Celica ones where else the Altis uses the same tray from the G9. You guys can contact him (Ah Chuan) at 97459950. He has all the stocks you need. Don't need to wait any more. Just say Henry - the Blue VIOS recommand one. He would know what to do. The above price includes installation charges and the tutorial on how to change your own filter in future. Anyway, hope bros here can support him a bit. Don't think there is much to lose here also as his pricing is cheaper than RV also

  20. Hello, I have been toying around the idea of changing my current Nissan Sunny to an MPV. I cannot decide between a Nissan Prairie or a Toyota Picnic. Personally I prefer Toyota Picnic. However, the price difference is about S$10K. Why so different ? Anyone any good idea ? Any opinion on these two cars for my reference ? Thanks a million. Like my name says...I'm Undecissive.

  23. My personal comments in blue..... The curvy Verossa sports sedan, offering a luxury alternative to the Altezza, is more Alfa Romeo than Toyota. More AR than Toyota ? Sure or not ? The company is prepared for 4,000 orders in the first month through its Vista channel, settling down to 2,500 thereafter. Officials say there are no plans to sell the Verossa, which is based on the new Mark II platform, outside of Japan. The car offers many of the same features as the recently introduced Brevis but it targeted at a slightly younger, well-heeled audience. Sadly, the 'no plans' part isn't that true..... There are three powerplants on offer: an impressive 2.5-liter straight-six turbo unit offering 280ps; a naturally aspirated fuel-efficient direct-injection four-cylinder 2.5; and a naturally aspirated 2.0. Long criticized in Japan for its 'old man' (oji-san) image, Toyota is shedding bland older models in a so far successful change of image. Toyota has said it would launch 14 new models in 2001, nine of which have now been unveiled: the Runx and Allex (youthful versions of the Corolla), Soarer, Will-VS, Ipsum, Spacio, Altezza Gita, Brevis and Estima Hybrid. Success can be gauged by the fact the six of the 10 top-selling over-660cc models in June were Toyotas. Amazing - just look at the list of weird names they've got for cars.....anyway, looking at the Verossa, wonder if bland suits Toyota better.... The Verossa is designed to display that indefineable quality - emotion - that eluded Toyota in the past. Everything from the swooping lines of its sheet metal to the driver-focused design of the cabin, complete with chrome-rimmed circular blowers and jewel-like instrumentation, attempts to show the public that Toyota has more to offer than build quality and reliability. Huh ? Can anyone help interpret the marketing talk here ? Anyway, I find it interesting that Toyota's got quite a few cars specific for the local market - is the domestic market really THAT dynamic and big to warrant so many dirrefing models ?
  24. The Singapore Police Force is now using the Altis as a Police Car. I saw a couple on the road yesterday.
