  1. http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_toyota_fine-n-1.jpg Fuel cell INnovative Emotion-Next generation The Fine-N (Fuel cell INnovative Emotion-Next generation) shows how latest generation fuel cell technology opens up a new world of design possibilities. The hydrogen fuel stack is just 150mm tall and is housed in the floor of the car, along with the lithium ion battery. The smaller dimensions of the fuel cell have been achieved partly by storing the compressed hydrogen under greater pressure (70mpa or about 700 atmospheres). Instead of a conventional drivetrain, the Fine-N uses by-wire steering, braking and throttle controls. With no mechanical constraints, the steering wheel and pedals can be positioned to suit the preferences of any driver and the interior has been opened up completely for the occupants. In fact the Fine-N has cabin space greater than that of a Camry, contained within a body that is about the size of a Corolla. The exterior is characterised by the wheel-at-each corner design with short overhangs and a panoramic front screen. Pronounced front and rear wings add character to the dynamic design. Each wheel is equipped with its own 25kW motor, providing exceptional performance through four-wheel control for acceleration and braking. Thanks to the efficiency of the new fuel cell, the driving range is up to 500km (312.5 miles). The Fine-N is protected by a face recognition system that authenticates the driver before unlocking automatically. Fastening the seatbelt then triggers the drivers personal memory settings for steering wheel and pedal positions and ventilation, air conditioning, navigation and audio settings. 2. http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_toyota_nlsv-1.jpg http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_toyota_nlsv-2.jpg Convenience and adaptability are the hallmarks of the NLSV (New-Life Support Vehicle), a car that addresses real-life needs through clever design and engineering. The two-box design features large, single electric sliding doors on each side, allowing easy access to both front and rear seats. The floor is set low, so there is not the high step into the vehicle typical of current MPVs. Inside, the floor is completely flat and the ceiling is high, giving the NLSV a walk-through facility. So generous are the cabin proportions, it's possible for a passenger to raise an umbrella before stepping out into the rain. The seats can be adjusted to create a range of different in-car environments that address different leisure or lifestyle demands. The cargo area can be extended to make room for a bicycle on board, too. Story by Toyota Motor Corp

  4. Anyone heard of this one. Toyota from Europe called AVENTISS.
  5. I gotta relate an incident which happened today to me on the TPE all the way to the CTE. Quite funny in certain ways, quite naughty of me in others .... but I found it amusing nonetheless. I was at a T-Junction in Tampines heading home for a nap at 2:00 pm. Just secured a contract from a school in Tampines so here I was heading into the TPE. Waiting to turn right on the road heading towards the entrance of the TPE when I saw this TOYOTA HIACE van come up behind me .... did I care , of course not. Right turn light came on and I went off at my normal speed. This Hiace van was revving behind me like SIAO .... tailgated me for about 100m before overtaking on the right and cut back in front of me .... yes I was on the left lane of a 2 lane road. I was going HUH ?? TRD Toyota HIACE van siah !! This must be a scene from 2FAST 2FURIOUS (PART 3 HIACE VAN) So, it was gonna be a long way back to AMK , and the CD music was LOVELY - BRING ME TO LIFE (EVANESCENCE). Certainly pumped me up .... so I decided to be naughty and just play with this 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS Hiace Van. On the entry of TPE , I just stayed behind him (punkass Malay driver) ... before anyone goes crying RACIAL PREJUDICE ... I am MALAY too lah. Once the highway opened up, I went down to 3rd and ZOOM ZOOM .... overtook him and cut back in front of him. He was in Lane 2. Now I never had anything bad intentions ... just trying to fill some boring drive back with someone who is game enough in a TRD-decorated Toyota HIACE. Wah !! He not happy .... he revved up and got to my backside (speed on my speedo 95 km/h) .... just what I was waiting for. As soon as he was close .... I revved up and sped away. As soon as I was about 150 meters away, I SLOWED down and waited for him. Traffic was quite bare. I could see him speeding up, his eyes intent on my TarzanBoy's backside. And again as soon as he got close , I sped off .... 150 meters (approx. I SLOWED again and waited for him. All this while, I was smiling and laughing to myself. This bugger must be driving his company van ... does he not know what he is up against ?? Did her ever think that he could outpace my TarzanBoy 323 ?? Again and again I played him over .... as soon as he got close .... I would just pull away. The look on his face via my rearview - . Just to add insult (naughty me) .... I wound down my windows as soon as we cleared some construction work nearing Punggol. And when he pulled close, I pulled away ... I stuck my hand out and gestured "FASTER FASTER FASTER". I know I sound like a BULLY but somebody gotta teach this kid a lesson .... his van aint no match for any car, so drive sensibly like you ARE indeed driving a VAN. No point trying to play with TARZANBOY lah or I will whip your punkass TRD-stickered VAN !! Wah he lagi bweh song .... as I see a middle finger come up from him from my rearview. I was laughing my balls off .... again I gestured FASTER FASTER !! All this was happening at 95 - 105 kph ONLY. Then I decided to be naughtier .... I saw a Mitsubishi Grandis hogging the right hand lane. I slowed down to 80 (hey I am in the middle lane u know) and the VAN came charging up. He then sverved to the right and tried a Montoya-style demon overtaking on LANE 1. A Toyota Hiace Van on LANE 1 .... can you imagine that . I looked inside , was given a middle finger ... I SMILED back and .... revved up and snugly held my speed beside the Grandis. Now he was stuck .... he had a Grandis in front of him and me beside him .... STUCK in Lane 1. I held my speed beside the Grandis letting the Grandis be at least half a body in front of me .... at 95 kph. He was totally stuck with much faster cars coming up behind and honking him Then I looked at him and gestured -> "YOUR VAN NOT FAST ENOUGH" all in hand language. "NOW LOOK AT MY CAR" - gave a cheeky laugh and then I just sped off into the distance. Was it over ... no I waited for him .. as I slowed down in the left lane behind a lorry. As he came up to the middle lane (took him ages) and overtook me , I looked in .... and he didnt even want to look at me ..... I let him pass , came up behind him , overtook on the right and cut back to the middle lane in front of him, waved him GOODBYE as I exited the TPE into the CTE. He didnt even want to look at me .... Boy that was fun ..... certainly filled up the long boring drive back. I know you may say I am a bully .... maybe I am just 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS .... only with a TRD HIACE Van of course. Sorry to other HIACE owners who may feel insulted by my comments. My apologies
  6. http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_toyota_css-2.jpg http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_toyota_css-1.jpg http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_toyota_css-3.jpg Introducing The Toyota CS&S Concept The Frankfurt Motor Show will be the venue for the world premiere of the Toyota CS&S (Compact Sports & Specialty), a 2+2 open-top sports car which, in terms of size, falls between the current Celica and MR2 models. The car is powered by Toyota's advanced Hybrid Synergy Drive system, combining a mid-mounted 1.5-litre petrol unit that drives the rear wheels with a powerful electric motor to drive the front wheels. CS&S proves that hybrid technology is not just eco-friendly, it can also provide a dynamic and highly enjoyable driving experience. Four-wheel drive and excellent acceleration from the electric motor's high torque underpin the car's sporting character, while the Hybrid Synergy Drive system delivers benefits in fuel economy and clean running. Toyotas aim in developing the Hybrid Synergy Drive concept is to create more powerful petrol and electric power sources in order to achieve higher levels of performance. Conventional hybrid systems rely on a petrol or diesel engine to produce peak performance, and utilise an electric motor as an ancillary. The Hybrid Synergy Drive system, also used in the new Prius, incorporates a much more powerful electric motor, which means the car relies less on the petrol engine, even when extra performance is needed, as when accelerating or travelling uphill. As the electric motor is much more efficient than the petrol unit, this means better fuel economy, too. Advanced design concept CS&S is a new concept in sports car design, displaying styling cues developed by Toyota's ED2 studio in the South of France. In this way it provides pointers to Toyota's design philosophy for future cars for the European market. Overall, the styling uses clear contrasts, between sharp, angular lines and fluid curves and arches. This is reflected in the interior, too, with arched front compartments that define the separate space for driver and passenger and express the car's sporting character. At first glance, CS&S looks like a two-seater. In fact, removable rear canopies conceal a further two seats, making it a true 2+2 sports car. In a further innovative touch that boosts security, the front passenger seat has been designed in such a way that it can be adapted to form a cover for the cockpit area. Toyota Space Touch The CS&S incorporates a radical new IT concept - Toyota Space Touch. This is an integrated multi-function system that breaks new ground in terms of human-machine interface technology. It is operated by means of a series of holographic projections that the driver 'touches' to make a selection. Spheres appear to float in space, but when touched they allow the user to control the air conditioning, audio, satellite navigation or even Internet connections. It is simple and intuitive to use, yet involves the application of cutting edge technology. Story by Toyota Motor Corp

    Toyota Vios

hello to everybody, my toyota corolla is due for scrap next june and i am currently looking for a new car. i have test drive the hyundai matrix and the toyota vios and i must say both have their pros and cons. however, due to sentimental reason, i will be going for the vios as my current corolla has serve me well, the only thing is that the sales agent will not give me any free gifts besides what is already given by borneo motors. do you think i should go for it? does anybody here has a better sales agent from borneo motors to recommend? anyway, i was given leather seats, sports rims, alarm, reverse sensor which seems to come standard with the 1.5E version. thank you and have a nice day.
  8. Finally the Toyota Vitz 1.5 RS Turbo is on sale in Singapore at $98K
  9. Looks like a Corona to me... ***************************** Toyota Avensis There are some big claims being made for the new Toyota Avensis. According to the latest television adverts, the upmarket Ford Mondeo rival is much more than "just" family transport. Apparently it'll silence ambitious colleagues and quieten an opinionated mother-in-law. All this thanks to its understated quality. Until now, though, the engine range has been limited to 1.8 and 2.0-litre petrol units and a 2.0 diesel. However, Toyota is expanding the Avensis line-up with the introduction of a 2.0 D-CAT diesel - which it says is super-clean - and a new 2.4 direct-injection petrol unit. And we've driven both. First up is the D-CAT. Arriving early next year, the oil-burner is said to produce fewer emissions than any diesel on the market today... but that depends on your definition of emissions. The ones company drivers are concerned with are CO2, and Toyota admits the figure for its new unit is actually higher than that of the 2.0 D-4D on which it's based - 161g/km as opposed to 155g/km. But other harmful emissions are down by as much as 90 per cent, and in that respect, the engine is indeed the cleanest around. At the heart of the D-CAT concept is its Diesel Particulate NOx Reduction (DPNR) System. It sounds complicated, but put simply, it is an advanced catalyst, reducing emissions. The engine manage- ment works to save fuel when the car's cruising, helping to achieve fuel returns of 46.3mpg. That's good - but the D-4D manages 48.7mpg. So is the D-CAT any faster? The new unit, which develops 280Nm of torque, claims a top speed of 122mph and a 0-62mph figure of 11.2 seconds - shaving 0.2 of a second off the current diesel's time. Toyota suggests that the entry-level model will cost

  12. Have read the thread on comparison of the Toyota Vios & Honda City a while ago. Been looking for thread having comparison on the above-mentioned vehicles as well but not discussed before. Both are considered popular Japanese cars manufacturer locally. Which is better in terms of interior, engine performances, value for money and etc. TC is a DOHC while HC is just SOHC only. Would like to hear from so many experience drivers here. Thanks!

    Toyota Voltz

Some general information about Toyota Voltz that is coming to Asia soon.. Toyota Voltz is built in North America. In the USA, it is branded as Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe. Both of them are the same cars except with different exterior trims/bumbers/moldings. The rounder look is Pontiac Vibe, and the one with sharper edges is Toyota Matrix. Pontiac vibe comes standard with roof rack. Toyota Voltz will be the same look as Pontiac Vibe, due to the fact that Vibe is produced in California and Matrix is from Ontario, CA. There are 2 engines for this car. The 1.8lit VVT-i 130hp, and the same engine with valve lift modification, producing 180hp.
