  1. The following accident is a strange one. Watch it here: What Happened? The above video was captured by the cam car's dashcam while approaching a red light signal at West Coast Road. A BMW 740 drove past the cam car while straddling between lanes 1 and 2 before running the red light at an unusually slow speed. The BMW crosses the junction while travelling at a bearing towards the centre divider. Moments later, the BMW mounts the centre divider and takes out an entire traffic light, tilting it at a 45-degree angle. At this point, I am starting to wonder about the structural robustness of the BMW sedan after it almost uprooted an entire traffic light. The Possibilities Some netizens were speculating that the driver was either driving under the influence of alcohol/substance or driving while distracted (driving while using a mobile phone). However, judging from the strange way the car was being driven, there is a likelihood that the BMW driver was experiencing a medical emergency which caused the accident. Let me know what you think in the comments below! Here's wishing the BMW driver a speedy recovery from the accident! The Aftermath Below are some snippets of the accident scene: The impact from the collision deployed the airbags of the BMW. Netizens' Comments From the video, it seems like the cam car driver pulled up along the side of the road to check on the BMW driver tho. ?! The Mercedes driver should be thanking his lucky stars for not sustaining collateral damage. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. This hack below received mixed reactions from the public. Some said it was “smart” while some criticised him for reckless driving. What do you think of this hack? Any other “special" tricks that you see before?
  3. Do me a favour, please watch the video first before reading past this first sentence, this way, you will understand the context of what is going on. Turn your sound on too. 41860487_462079431454648_3710982132141643689_n.mp4 Done? Great. So, the actions of the driver in the camera car. Necessary, or just plain idiotic and rude? Yes, the uncle at the traffic light did seem a little blur and started crossing the road, rather slowly too, after the red man came on. Yes, this traffic light along Victoria Street is notorious for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic, as seen in the video where people are not done crossing the road even as the red man comes on. Perhaps let's cut the uncle some slack? Maybe he wasn't paying attention or just having an off day. Or on the other hand, he is really lacking spatial awareness and nearly got himself killed. Understandably, the driver in the camera car could've not honked so long and scared the uncle half out of his slippers. A double tap of his horn would've been suffice, plus the other cars around the camera car don't seemed to have moved off either. And also being so eager to leave the lights. Where are you rushing off to, bro? But then again, this writer daresays that both parties are in the wrong in this incident. The uncle for not being observant of the traffic light and taking his own sweet time to cross, and the driver for being extremely heavy handed with his horn. Although the driver should be more conscious on his acceleration. Yes, this writer knows that most of us can't tolerate stupid people, but do remember that if you as a driver hits a pedestrian, it's not going to just be demerit points, man. Like most things in life, a little patience doesn't kill, people. You would think people would've remembered that by now but no.......
  4. A very blurry video has been uploaded on Roads.sg's Facebook page. It hasn't gone viral yet (at the time of writing this article) but, there's a massive potential for it to explode online. Help me out here people. I'm very divided about this one. It's a short 25-second video of a driver attempting to drive through a pedestrian crossing when the green man indicator is lit. This action angers an Ang Moh pedestrian and a clash of egos ensue. If you haven't seen the video, here you go! Thanks, Roads.sg The driver’s perspective There's a noticeable gap/window for cars to drive through the pedestrian crossing even though you can see the blinking green man. The two vehicles in front of him went through with no issues. If it's safe to go through, why not right? The pedestrian’s perspective The Ang Moh pedestrian who came running up to stop the driver from proceeding must have felt that the driver was too impatient and should have just waited a little while longer before making the turn. Clash of egos The pedestrian then proceeds to block the driver until the green man turns red before walking out of frame. You’ve made your point, move along lah! Why need to do this? This isn't Hong Kong eh! The driver, on the other hand, keeps saying that "he has a camera". Pretty pointless statement in this case no? Can you see why I feel divided on this? What the people say Next day newspaper headlines: "Body of man found swimming with the fishes" Probably a joke. Probably. The injustice of it all still lingers in the hearts of many like the death of Harambe. I guess, in the eyes of the public, we know whose side they're on. The driver needs a better dashcam though.
  5. If you think we don't need one, you better hurry up when crossing the road. [laugh]
  6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cWODLKlG3E&feature=youtu.be though the lorry driver either re-take basic theory lesson or take a color vision test
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6ITQJ-6rzE&list=UUHfZ-UiEr-DtPjWIYO7DAEA I thot my eyes are playing trick on me till I review the DVR. This is along YCK road. Be careful guys. will send this to LTA so that they can fix it before someone gets hurt.
  8. I been driving for more than a decade. This question is always on my mind... At junctions where there are left turn arrows, the left turn arrow will always coming up when the round lights are red. See below. When the left turn arrow blinks and disappears, the round lights will carry on being red for 2 secs before turning green. Happens at all junctions. Question is this. In that 2 secs, can I turn left?

    Be a safe cyclist

I was going to Bedok Central for lunch on a weekday. I parked my car at the open carpark next to Block 416 and made my walk to the traffic lights at Bedok North Street 1, opposite Bedok Community Library. After waiting for about 30 seconds, the green man appeared and I crossed the road. Upon reaching the other end of the road, the side of my eye caught a speeding bicycle approaching in my direction when other vehicles have stopped. Naturally, I slowed down my pace to avoid getting hurt. After the incident, I asked myself this question
  10. How many times has a traffic light turned yellow as you approach an intersection, and you are uncertain if you can make the light or not? To speed or slam brake? What is really our best choice? Timings of yellow light are different at each junction, i've experienced some as short as 2 seconds, once yellow come out, it will jump to red on next blink. Kinda stressful whenever passing a green light that has been on for quite some time. I prefer seeing a red light that is on for very long. And as i reach, it will turn green Will it be better to have those LED timing indicators for cars (like in some countries), showing how long before the light will turn red? Maybe we can petition for them
