  5. Romantic meals right at the edge of the Singapore River will soon become a thing of the past at Robertson Quay and Clarke Quay, when new rules on outdoor refreshment areas kick in this week. Under new guidelines from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), diners' tables cannot be placed right by the riverside. The aim, it said, is to "free up the riverfront for public access". The new rules are effective immediately, but the URA said it would give operators "sufficient time" to clear the riverside tables. Outdoor tables on the side of the walkway away from the river can stay, and restaurants can also apply to develop second-storey extensions from buildings to create dining areas there. Before this servicing i noticed whenever i do turning (i find the bends quite sharp for me) at first lane (after MBS towards AYE) i will heard a loud sound coming from undercarriage. the technician told me could be due to this drive shaft... But after changing the drive shaft, both sides. I still encounter this issue. Any idea what other possible causes?

  11. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is reviewing the enforcement regime against workshops which illegally modify vehicles. 2,645 summonses were issued for illegal modification offences for all vehicle types in 2010. The figure went up to 7,322 in 2011. For motorcycles, 341 summonses were issued for illegal modifications in 2010, and 1,175 summonses in 2011. In 2012, the figure shot up to 7,239 summonses for illegal vehicle modifications in the first eight months alone. 1,405 summonses were for illegal motorcycle modifications. In a written reply to Parliament, Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew said no one has been jailed for illegal modification offences. Enforcement actions are currently focused on owners of illegally modified vehicles. No summonses have been issued against motor vehicle workshop owners so far. 14. Trials which could yield the next generation of the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) system are under way along Woodlands Avenue 12. Last year, four consortia - Kapsch TrafficCom, MHI Engine System Asia and NCS, ST Electronics (Info-Comm Systems) and IBM Singapore, and Watchdata Technologies and Beijing Watchdata System - had won the tender to develop technologies to replace the current gantry system in a timeframe of 18 months. The four consortia had also been allocated a seed fund of S$1 million each for the project and might include a satellite-tracking system. In response to queries, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said that the System Evaluation Test (SET) had begun in May and "is a technological trial to help identify a technological solution most suited for Singapore". "Woodlands Avenue 12 is a suitable site to conduct on-road testing as it is a relatively straight road with high traffic volumes and a good mix of different vehicle types," said the LTA spokesperson. A visit to the site showed that four black-coloured cantilevers, which are about the height of lamp posts, have been erected along the road about 100m apart. A variety of surveillance cameras, reflectors and sensors were mounted on the vertical portions of the structures overhanging the road. The LTA said that the tests, which are expected to be completed "around the end of the year", will not cause disruption to other motorists. "At the end of the SET, LTA will assess the performance of the various solutions to determine whether an appropriate technological solution is available and can form the basis of a next generation ERP system," said the spokesperson. However, he added that as the project is in "very early stages", "the next generation ERP systems, if technically feasible, is still some years away." In Parliament earlier this year, Minister of State for Transport Josephine Teo had said that it was too early to speculate when the next generation ERP system, or ERP 2, will be introduced, but added that the LTA would have to make sure that it can be reliably used for road pricing. 18. Former teacher under probe for sex with male student who say SGrean not having enough heh-sho heh-sho why last time i skooling dun hav SINGAPORE - A former teacher from a top Secondary school is being investigated for allegedly having sex with an underage student, reported The Straits Times. The woman, who is in her 20s, is believed to have had sex with the boy more than once. The sexual encounters allegedly began when the boy, who is now 16, was a member of one of the school's sports teams. The woman was the teacher-in-charge of the team. The boy cannot be named as he is a minor, and the identity of the woman is also being withheld to protect his identity. The police confirmed that a report has been filed and investigations are ongoing. The case came to light after the boy's parents lodged a complaint to the school. (SABO!!!!!) The Straits Times reported that the former humanities teacher had left the school abruptly in March. She was reportedly seen crying in school the day before she left. Those who knew the teacher described her as "patient, knowledgeable, and outgoing". A former student interviewed by The Straits Times expressed shock at the news, as she "always put students first and knew where to draw the line". The principal of the school declined comment, saying they have not been informed by police of the matter. A spokesperson from the Ministry of Education said it will "work with the school as well as the police to investigate the case as necessary". This is not the first case where a female teacher has been accused of having sex with an underage student. In 2009, a 32-year-old teacher became the first woman to be jailed for having sex with a 15-year-old student in the school. The mother of two had six trysts with the boy in holiday chalets and in her flat. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 months' jail. The Penal Code was amended in 2008 to make sex between an adult woman and boy below 16 a crime. [email protected]

  20. Hi I am driving a 5 year old Suzuki. Recently changed quite a fair bit of parts below as due to wear and tear. 1) shocks 2) lower control arm 3) stabilizer link 4) steering rack and tie rods 5) rotors and brake pads My car is stock. No mods done. After installing the above parts I started having cracking noises below at very low speeds like 10km/h. If I can recall correctly the noises started having noises after steering rack and brake components were replaced. The sound is worse than before I changed anything. Any advice?

  22. I, however, agree with him. Farking suicide wannabes, dun disturb the public transport can anot. Backlash against Jeremy Clarkson after he calls railway track suicides 'selfish' Top Gear presenter's comments about commuter disruption provoke condemnation from mental health charities Jasmine Coleman and agencies guardian.co.uk, Saturday 3 December 2011 10.25 GMT Jeremy Clarkson apologised after saying strikers should be 'executed in front of their families' on BBC1's The One Show. Photograph: Murdo Macleod for the Guardian Jeremy Clarkson faced further censure on Saturday after describing people who killed themselves by jumping under trains as "selfish". His comments in his column in the Sun newspaper provoked outrage from mental health charities. The Top Gear presenter is already mired in controversy for suggesting onBBC1's The One Show that public sector strikers should be "shot in front of their families". He was forced to apologise for that statement, which generated more than 21,000 complaints. Clarkson also made comments about train suicides in the same show and in his Sun column on Saturday, he said those who chose to kill themselves at railway stations caused "immense" disruption for commuters. "I have the deepest sympathy for anyone whose life is so mangled and messed up that they believe death's icy embrace will be better," he wrote. "However, it is a very selfish way to go because the disruption it causes is immense. And think what it's like for the poor train driver who sees you lying on the line and can do absolutely nothing to avoid a collision." Referring to those who jumped in front of trains as "Johnny Suicide", Clarkson said trains should resume their journey as soon as possible following a suicide and leave the body parts for scavenging animals. Catherine Johnstone, chief executive of the Samaritans, said the insensitivity of Clarkson's comments "truly beggars belief". She said: "While purporting to express sympathy for people who die this way, his remarks about their bodies constitute gross intrusion into the grief and shock of bereaved families and friends. "His notion that suicide is a selfish act shows how little he knows about the subject because, if he did, he would know that when a person attempts suicide they are so distressed that they genuinely believe their families will be better off without them. "The concept that their actions could be construed as selfish is the furthest thing from their mind." Johnstone added that insensitive media coverage of suicide could trigger so-called "copycat" deaths. "We have already made a complaint to Ofcom about his remarks on The One Show and we will now be taking up today's comments with the Press Complaints Commission." Paul Farmer, chief executive of Mind, described the comments as "extraordinarily tasteless". He said: "I think there will be many people who have lost loved ones to suicide and people who have contemplated suicide that will think it is in extremely bad taste. "It stands out like a sore thumb from what is increasingly a more supportive approach to suicide by the media. "People will feel like he is trivialising the subject and dismissing people who have taken their own lives. This is a man who really doesn't understand what he is talking about." The One Show presenter Matt Baker apologised on air for the suicide comments, admitting it was not a suitable conversation for a 7pm show. Clarkson's comments on public sector strikers on Wednesday's programme have left the BBC facing the biggest complaints storm since the "Sachsgate" row in 2008. Asked about the strikers, he said: "I'd have them all shot. I would take them outside and execute them in front of their families. I mean, how dare they go on strike when they've got these gilt-edged pensions that are going to be guaranteed while the rest of us have to work for a living?" Unison called for the presenter to be sacked and he later apologised. But BBC sources have said there would be no "massive inquest" into Clarkson's remarks about strikers.
  23. After 33Kkm, I think that my brake rotor disc is warpped (New set of tyres with balancing and allignment). Steering vibrant during high speed. Has anyone claim it under warranty from PI workshop? I claimed before from Honda AD during warranty period. From AD, normally they just change a new set of disc. I am not sure how easy to claim from PI's workshop. My PI workshop is Spark Care Centre. Maybe PI's workshop just do the skimming? Thx in adv for sharing.
  24. Is there such a thing as a passive under seat sub? I have installed actives and passives before and active is definitely a no-go for power. However, space is a constraint in hatchbacks but the desire for bass is still there. It would be perfect if there is a sub that can fit under one seat, the amp and crossovers in the other seat.
  25. I would like to propose the above as since some months ago, the political animals or powerhouse forumers have been running all over and affecting the mood of this wonderful forum. To have their dedicated folder will serve many purposes: 1 it will placate those who are not into political bashing and getting damn sick of the antics of those who like to blame everything on government without logic. It is getting very nauseous. 2 those political animals will have a dedicated channel to voice to vent their angle and frustration and find solace and sympathy there. 3 it will be good for housekeeping. By limiting those of same kind into a folder, it will be easy to handle any fallout from trouble with authority. 4 by limiting viewership, as those not into politics will steer clear of the new folder, the 'movement' will not be encouraged due to limited readership. There are young punks who might be misleaded due to the troubling language and attitude used. This is primarily a car forum after all. Those with ulterior motives or agenda should carry their war elsewhere, and not throw their s--t here. Sincerely hope the mod team will accept this proposal to reduce the adversity level here, and enhance the forum ambience.
