  1. Anyone wants to improve performance of their car but on a tight budget? Here's how; http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=776885 ...Came across this article, really good so am sharing it here...
  2. Saw today's ads ? Worthwhile ? Not that I'm buying, just curious ... Luxury of S60 vs raw power of S40T4 ....
  3. Here're some pics of an SDP-plate specimen I was tailing for a while around Shenton Way today - it's called the Hyundai Terracan (wonder if they've got a Terra-cannot.... ) and it runs on a 3.5ltr V6. Looks a bit better in real-life. Would look even better with those bright stadium-standard spot lights attached to the bumper. Going for around $132k.....Lester ?
  4. Hi, I just posted this at the Volkswagen General section, but thought this might be a better place to try my luck. :) Does anyone know about chipping an 2002 Audi A4 1.8T? I'm looking at having it done by MTM before year end, but would like to find out more about alternatives before taking that step. If anyone here has tried that before, or knows someone with experience to share, I'd really appreciate it!
  5. The OEM system (Alpine, i think) on the S40 is pretty good. But was thinking of doing a basic upgrade (basstube, amp, crossovers, etc) to give it a little bit more punch. To my surprise, my ICE guy said Volvo system not upgradable. Cannot even fit an aftermarket CD changer (Volvo OEM CD changer is $1200!!). Any advice pls??
  6. I'm getting a new mazda 323 in a week or 2 and would like to see how I can upgrade my car audio. I definitely need a MP3 player and would like to see how I can make the speaker system better with my limited budget. The mazda comes stock with a Kenwood HU with a 10 disc CD Changer in the trunk. The mazda audio contractor has offered the kenwood 7020 for $400 with a $100 trade in. But I shopped around and liked the 838 which they don't have, but they suggested the 828 instead, which seems too expensive for the budget. What can I do.. how good are the HU if I don't get an amp? I can probably spend another $200-$500 for the speaker/amp system. Question is, do I need an additional amp with the HU I'm getting? I don't need to blast music, just good sound (ok.. relatively). Given that I can only either upgrade speaker OR get an amp, what should I get? Pardon me... I'm an ICE newbie...
  7. Got this from the Rexclusive forum...thought it would be an interesting read for MCF folks http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/brake_...ions_122701.htm http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/rear_b...etter120601.htm http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/warped_rotors_myth.htm http://www.bira.org/bedding.html
  8. Just got a call from a Czech Auto SE, Alan telling me that they are going to reduce the price of the Classic from S$85,800 to S$77,500/- in two months time to clear the remaining stock of about 20 cars and that being the case, my Classic will "suffer" significant depreciation. He suggested that I should upgrade to the Ambiente now and since being an existing Skoda Owner, CA will give me a cash rebate of S$5000/- therefore, I will "only" have to pay S$84,900 (S$89,900 less S$5000). I said, well that's a good deal, but what's the catch? What is CA willing to take my 8 months old Classic back for and his reply was that dealers are offering S$61,000/-. I told the guy, in a polite way really, that "you think I seow arh!". If I enter into this deal, I will have to cough up an additional S$23,900/- for the Ambiente. Lose money on my Classic and have to pay some more for the Ambiente. He then when on to try and convince me why the Ambiente is better and went as far as to suggest that I shouldn't be driving a car that is going to phase out soon. Anyway, I again poiltely told him that I am a budget conscious buyer and if I really wanted to buy an Ambiente, I would have done so during JTA's time as the price delta was only S$14,000/- (S$89,000 for Ambiente vs S$75,000 for the Classic). Any other Classic owners who have been contacted by CA, please share your experience, especially on the sales tactics they use.
  9. Hi all, Anyone got 'Kang Tao' for cheap & good computerised wheel alignment. I've upgrade my stock springs to Eibach Pro-Kit, lowered by 1 inch. I've done it on my previous car in J.B., forgot which shop but it was cheap (due to exchange rate) but it was at least 5 years ago
  10. Hi. New to ICE. What is the first upgrade you guys recommend? Is it cheaper to goto JB? Roughly how much for a decent setup would cost. Thanks
