  13. Hi all, Not a promoter for this product but wanna share my experiences using it. I've been detailing my own car using this process 1. Washing 2. Claying 3. Polish (scratches and etc) then waxing. I typically use Soft 99's water repellent which is pretty good, until I saw this Giant selling at about $19.99. Basically, just spray on, wait for dirt to come out, then spread around using any general applicator, then buff off with clean microfibre cloth. Results were pretty awesome!! Water repellent at its best, I even used it on my windscreen/windows/rear windscreen. Not necessary to wash car to use this (which I like), just leaving it on to see how long does the water repellent properties last (since its the monsoon season now). Who else using this?
  14. for example if one was to have his car polished and the grooming center takes a photo of the owner's car and post it on their website, advertising their products or services, without the owner's consent, despite masking out the number plate, is that legal? anyone encountered this issue before? care to share...

  16. This one LINK I bought it from Autobacs around $20. It does not say that it contains wax like those wash and wax types. However, after using it, my wipers judders abit and friction is higher. Anyone using this also, share your experiences. It claims to use natural ingredients and there is this coconut smell like nonya kueh. I don't get this smell after wash though.
  17. Hi, just a gentle reminder from our friendly neighbourhood mata : From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-...police-20121025 Using cellphone while driving is a serious offence: Police Published on Oct 25, 2012 Drivers who use mobile phones while driving face a fine of up to $1,000 or imprisonment of up to six months, or both. -- ST PHOTO ILLUSTRATION THE use of a mobile phone while driving is very dangerous and irresponsible ("Why confiscate traffic offender's cellphone?" by Mr David Leong; Oct 6). Drivers who commit additional traffic offences concurrently, such as speeding or reckless driving, will be prosecuted in court. The offence of using a mobile phone while driving is punishable with a fine of up to $1,000 or imprisonment of up to six months, or both. Repeat offenders face a harsher punishment of a fine of up to $2,000 or imprisonment of up to 12 months, or both. In addition, they may face disqualification from driving and forfeiture of their mobile phones. While the mobile phone has to be seized as evidence for investigations, the phone's SIM card may be returned to the driver. For cases where a composition may be offered, drivers can make arrangements to collect their mobile phones from the Traffic Police Department once the composition fines have been paid and 12 demerit points awarded. Driving while using the mobile phone is dangerous not only to the drivers, but also to other road users. Be responsible and do not use your mobile phone while driving. A driver who wishes to use the phone should ask his passenger to make or receive calls on his behalf. If travelling alone, drivers are advised to stop at the nearest carpark to make calls. Those who use hands-free kits should try to keep the conversation short. Fong Weng Kiong Assistant Director, Media Relations (Covering) Public Affairs Department Singapore Police Force

  19. Contemplating in getting a dish washer but have a few questions: a) Is it really more economical to use dish washer to wash everything once a day? b) How about energy consumption? c) Can really wash dishes cleaner than human effort? d) Which brand is reliable? Thank you very much. Regards,
  20. my Altis stock stereo system is below average at best, the CD player (playing MP3) is very soft (and if turn to loud, gets distorted) and the radio is also very poor, the bass is non existent and only have distortions and crackling sounds...but when i connect my Samsung S2 to the Aux input (just from earphone output) and play with full volume, suddenly the sound from the system is much much better. The bass is quite good (for my standard, which is quite low), my rear view mirror can shake but there is no distortion from the doors or any crackling sound, only when pushed further until body can feel shiok (by then a bit too loud liao), then the distortion will come...the clarity is much better.....not bad for a stock player, by itself is really crap (downgraded from below average liao) but with just a simple input from external player its now 'good enough'. really dont know why like that. If i am not too embarrassed, can play Gangnam dance full blast!!!!!
  21. Why cant our Ah Lui be more creative in handling our COEs! Congested only means cut down on COE! WTH!always use the the easy way out.Y dun restrict PR in buying cars?or they pay higher COEs??Since we have world class transport! Owners with more than one car will have to pay a higher COE for the next and so on!?!Certain profession like sales people can have slight privilege in buying cars capped at certain category only? I think there are really many ways than only cut COE!!
  22. Did anyone read the column in today's ST by a snr correspondent? Although he was mainly addressing the whole COE issue, one thing that stood out to me was when he said that *some* taxi drivers only pick up enough passengers to cover their rent and then use the taxi for their own things thereafter. By extension, a taxi driver who on a given day has no errands to run might be able to collect enough rental for the next day's rent as well which mean he may use the whole of the next day to himself. If this is true (which i am sure it is as a snr correspondent would not anyhow make such statements and face lawsuit) then i guess this is the reason (or at least one of the main reasons) why though with so many new cabs each month there is still shortage of cabs. This must be very bad and must stopped. Taxi companies should set sales targets for taxi drivers (targets can be based on the 20th percentile of top drivers' sales and all other drivers must then come within 10% of their sales). So if the 20th% driver has sales of $10,000 per month, then the other drivers must achieve at least $8,000. Those who not able to hit their targets for 2 consecutive months AND 4 out of 6 continuous months will be disciplined. GPS can be used to further prove that the taxi driver is not "sincere" (going to certain places frequently where he doesn't pick up sales) and will be booted out. As for other things like pay more, etc....well, what can i say right? Everyone wants more pay. Recently bus drivers and pre-school teachers so.... I know some people might come and flame me as a "pappy dog" for saying this but i have to applaud LTA that when they removed taxis from Cat A, they did think it through and implemented something that not just relieves some of the upward pressure on Cat A but at the same time also found a way to improve taxi service standards. They did not just "bow to pressure from us" and set up a separate category for them as what many of us were saying. They did more than that. Kudos.
