  1. Just wondering, how car dealers calculate the residue value of a car, for a 6 months old car and a 5 year old car. It is just based on ARF and COE? For eg, I believe the reg Fee and GST would to be lost by the 1st owner upon selling his car. Would the car company profit be lost as well, which seem to be the case whenever a car dealer buys from you. I know that ARF decreases every year. Broken down Total Cost of a New Car: OMV Custom Duty (25%OMV) GST 5% ARF (110%OMV) - decreases every year. Reg Fee COE - decreases every year. Car Company Profit
  2. considering a Subaru Impreza 1.6 TS manual now... less than 2 yrs old, low mileage... was calculating the paper value (PARF + COE rebate??) of the car, which comes up to around $40k at this point... so going by that, if i were to pay around $58-60k for the car, is that considered too much of a premium to pay on top of the paper value? or am i missing some elements here that contribute to the car's market value? sorry, newbie at this.. appreciate any help from the lao jiaos here
  3. Visited Mazda showroom today. M2 at $70,888 and M3 btw $78,888 to $85,888 (depending on the model). What puzzled me is that the SE said the scrap value is the same fr all the makes. How is this possible? Car delivery is in May 04 if it helps.
  4. Hi all, Let's take a look at the cables that he actually uses in the installations. These materials were used when my car's ICE was installed by Zoom in Sep 2001. Top Cable = Power Cable to the amps The insulation of the 8AWG power cable reads: +++ High Current Low Voltage Power Cable OFC HOTLINES USA 8AWG +++ Middle Cable = Ground Cable from the amps The insulation of the ground cable reads: LLL58118 CSA TYPE TEW 12AWG 105 deg C 600VAC FTI RYTHM Bottom Cable = amplifier output to the passive cross-overs. There are no markings on the cables. Some notes: 1. The power and ground cable must be of the same thickness (gauge). This has been emphasized in most installation manuals like the following: Note: The ground cable must be as the same size as the power wire. (from http://www.precisionpower.com/ppipdfs/ppiamps/ppi2ch1.pdf page 3) It really puzzles me for using a 12AWG as ground cable and 8AWG as power cable 2. Cables for AC and DC usage. All ICE equipment are powered using DC. Does it make sense to use AC cables for ICE applications? 3. Speaker wires from http://www.precisionpower.com/ppipdfs/ppiamps/ppi2ch1.pdf page 5, it is stated that speaker wires must be at least 16AWG. Have a good look at the thickness of speaker cables used.
  5. Getting Galant in two weeks. Would come with 16" rims (racing hart or eurohart or some nonsense Cycle&Carriage has tied up) and tyres. 205 or 215 width. 45 or 50 side wall. 16". Plan to upgrade to 17" OZ and Bridgestone outside. Trade in and top up $$$. Cannot ask Cycle&Carriage to do this as they'll charge arm&leg. SR confirmed this. So my question is, what 16" rims do I want as stock, so that I can get the maximum trade in value when I upgrade? Similarly for tyres but I don't think Cycle&Carriage will let me specify. They use Yokohama, and the showroom Galant has Aspect db on.
  6. Wah seh man! Our Skoda has done very well in the residual value arena. It's also one of the most reliable and cheapest cars to run.
