http://www.remarcable.net/misc/lega...olvo_filmen.mov This particular volvo (XC70) uses a viscous coupling to provide power to the rear wheels. Under normal driving conditions most of the power and torque go to the front wheels only. The traction control system should have made the rear wheels turn as soon as the front wheels started to slip (the system applies the brake to tires that slip similar to the Land Rover Freelander). Either the traction control was not functioning, turned off, or sucks and doesn't work under the conditions presented in the video.
