  8. For the benifit of those who is looking for a car : Honda City : Like : Spacious cabin, strong engine, smooth CVT. Don't like : Looks, most expansive car. Toyota Vios : Like : Lively performance, competent ride and handling. Don't like : Cheap feeling interior. Suzuki SX4 Sedan : Like : Nice interior, serene ride, huge boot, surefooted handling. Don't like : Buzzing engine at high revs. Honda City : 1497cc,110bhp at 5800rpm,143Nm at 4800rpm,0-100kmph : 10.6s, S$67000 Toyota vios : 1497cc,109bhp at 6000rpm,141Nm at 4200rpm,0-100kmph : 11.8s, S$61988 Suzuki SX4 : 1586cc,101bhp at 5600rpm, 140Nm at 4000rpm,0-100kmph : 11.5s, S$58500 Happy viewing...
  9. Any recommendation for the light pulley for the new vios 07?
  10. Any comments on these 2 cars? And which would u choose. My perception of the Vios and remarks i heard about. The interior plastics are a disaster. Plastics are hard and brittle, though the surface is texture to help disguise the use of really inferior quality plastics. Too common on the roads. Rear seat capacity is uncomfortable and cramped. Price $4k cheaper. More power, Better Handling and Acceleration? My perception of the City IDSI and remarks i heard about. More sporty interior. "Weird" external look (dont look weird to me at all.. anyone got comments on which part is weird?) CVT comes with a "7 speed mode" by manually choosin between seven virtual ratios by way of buttons on the steering wheel. Great fuel consumption ideal for city driving. Steering is too light. Rear seats are bigger and more comfy. Price $4k more expensive. Less power, Poorer Handling and Acceleration? Anyone would like to correct me or any inputs or comments are really appreciated. Thks.
  11. Congrats Darren & Angela, the newly wed couple! it's all on the rear screen, can't mizz it!

  17. Drove both yesterday. This is my review. I'm no pro and I dont pretend to be one. Dont mean to hurt any feelings here so pls spare me the flaming. Test drove two cars yesterday cos my dad is changing car. Since he drives about 80km per day, i suggested that he pay the premium for a more fuel efficient car since esso 95 is already hitting $1.80 Toyota Vios 1.5E $54998 The car's styling is refreshing and the nose resembles the Camry. The old vios' boot curved in where the tail light assembly was and made it difficult to load bigger items such as suitcases. Glad that they have ironed out these little kinks. The aircon knob assembly leaves more to be desired. It looks like a toy which has a label '3 yrs and up', very plasticky. The interior is black, not to my liking as I have begun to prefer bright interiors. However my dad likes it cos he hardly keeps the interior clean. But the dark interior makes the vios look smaller than it really is but I'm glad it's a colour one can deal with, unlike my friend's 95 civic which was dark blue inside! The interior is cramped, but the vios was designed to be slim. 3 in the rear can be a tad uncomfortable even with the flat floor without that protruding hump for the exhaust to run through. The driver's leg area was too cramped for my liking. My left foot seemed too uncomfortably close to my brake! I guess someone forgot the footrest for the left foot! The ride was horrible. I felt like the steering wheel was connected to a group of monkeys who then had the axle connected to their arse! No feedback from the steering wheel whatsoever. I got more feedback from driving a Tamiya RC! It felt a tad bit worse than my dad's Colt, which I felt was the main drawback of the Colt, zesty engine but with a ride fit for a girl! The FC was decent, 12km/l as stated by the SE and corroborated by most on MCF. Service from the SE was a bit better than I got last year but I'm super pissed that he quoted the monthly payment wrongly, $598 instead of the correct $698. I verified this only this morning. Not a mistake which can be taken lightly. He was also in a rush to go do something else. Typical of Borneo Motors. Honda City IDSI 7CVT $60800 The car's styling is dated, even for a facelifted model. I found no visible differences in this model and the original from 2003. I test drove this car in 2005 and due to the lack of available stock for the IDSI, my sis bought the swift instead. With age and the lack of the thrill for speed, I have different views about the test drive this time around. The car has the same boring interior as the FIT/JAZZ and I can only find one word to describe the whole dashboard, confusing. The Vios had a much simpler design and looked more modern. The City had a beige interior, making it look brighter but the weird LEDs just made the car look possessed. Other than that, it was less plasticky than the Vios as the designers took time to hide the plastic in various ways. The interior was also physically more spacious although it lacked the flat floor which I felt should be standard in a car designed to roam the streets of Bangkok, placked with everyone including your Singaporean maid. The boot was cavernous! A WHOPPING 500L! Which means we can kill my entire family and dump their bodies inside while leaving space for my maid's dismembered legs. However the car lacked the ability to fold it's seats, a function which only the VTEC had. The IDSI has drawers under the seats instead. The VTEC can have the backrests folded down or the seats folded up like in the cinema! Way cool! The ride was comfortable and the steering was more responsive than the Vios. There were no monkeys attached to the steering wheel this time, other than the monkey driving it. It was in fact a much better ride than the Vios, for sure, despite the Vios being a 2nd generation model. I asked what the 7 speed manual mode was for. "For fun", the SE replied. With a touch of a button, old farts can think they are mikey shoemaker and fiddle with the + and - buttons on the steering wheel, shifting gears up and down. I got bored of the contraption in 2 minutes. If I wanted a manual, I'd have gotten one. It's quite hard to concentrate on driving and the buttons for a first timer although I'm sure there will be loads of fun once you get the hang of driving this contraption which is designed for anyone 50 and above. After considering the two and the potential owner, I recommended the City. Based on function, fuel consumption and cost, these two were the only ones I'd suggest at this stage. But based on drive comfort, passenger comfort and the added plus point of being able to murder more than half of my family and drive off with their bodies, I picked the City. Both are cars meant for the budget concious and risk adverse. The Vios had a younger feel, altho not that young. Both had equally shitty safety ratings and looked like they were welded together with a cigarette lighter. The City looked like it was meant for a man who was generally at least 10 yrs older than the Vios owner but for two cars which were never designed to be fun to drive in the first place, the Vios seemed to want to display this quality more. Although anyone looking at the City from outside would imagine a sticker saying 'old fart inside', once you are oblivious to your surroundings, you can have two ounces of fun, something the Vios clearly lacks. In conclusion, I can only hope that Hindu beliefs have a bit of truth and that if you are good in this lifetime, you will be reborn into a better family in your next. I have been pretty good. So pls all you Hindu gods with multiple hands and heads, can I please be reborn into a family whereby my dad asks me to test drive something better than two hunks of junk! At least a VW Bora! Please! So I trodded off to Kah Motor's car park and climbed into a bigger hunk of junk, my 06 Rio and drove off. Why must a car enthusiast like me be born in Singkapore?
  18. hi all, what is the best recommneded setup for improving low end for vios 2007 hope to ahcieve comfort in term of sound level. dont need loud bassy sound =)

  20. Saw this cool Vios with Brembo brake calipers. Makes the car look great & enhances the stopping distance. Can Brembo brakes be fitted on my orig Getz rims? Will it fit? How much does it cost?
