  1. Renault to name VW manager Luca De Meo as CEO Former Seat boss will be tapped to lead French automaker PARIS — Renault's board is set to meet later on Tuesday to approve the nomination of Luca de Meo, the former head of Volkswagen's Seat brand, as its next chief executive, two sources familiar with the matter said. The Italian-born executive, who stepped down from Seat earlier this month, is not due to take up his post at the French carmaker until towards July, due to negotiations around his contract, according to one of the sources. Renault declined to comment. De Meo is not expected to face any last minute hurdles in his nomination, and has already won tacit backing from parties including the French government, a Renault shareholder. His appointment fills one of the major gaps left at the firm as it tries to move past a year of turmoil following the 2018 arrest in Tokyo of former boss-turned-fugitive Carlos Ghosn, and reset its strained alliance with Japan's Nissan. Ghosn, who forged and oversaw the Renault-Nissan partnership for almost two decades, has since fled Japan and resettled in Lebanon, from where he has contested the financial misconduct charges against him and said the alliance was at risk of collapse. De Meo, along with Renault Chairman Jean-Dominique Senard, brought in last January from tire maker Michelin, will have his work cut out to turn around the firm. Like rivals, Renault is grappling with a downturn in demand, and has said it expects a slight decline in the car market in Europe, Russia and China this year. The firm has also presented 2020 as a make-or-break year for the alliance with Nissan and is under pressure to deliver on cost savings and joint projects. Automakers face pressure to meet stringent new emissions targets with less polluting models, and are also competing to produce innovations such as self-driving cars, which require large investments. De Meo, who speaks French, will be one of a growing handful of outsiders in senior company jobs in France. The 52-year-old started his career at Renault and has worked at Fiat and Audi among other brands. He is credited with revitalizing sales at Barcelona-based Seat, imbuing it with a more sporty image, though his portfolio will be markedly larger at Renault, whose brands include Dacia and Lada. Renault's finance chief Clotilde Delbos has been CEO on an interim basis since last October, when Thierry Bollore, a former Ghosn ally, was ousted by the board.
  2. Anyone keen in this Seat Ibiza 1.4 Cupra Bocanegra? Looks nice and fierce from the front. Really 1 and only one driving it here. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...p?CarCode=11058
  3. Hi Guys, I find Astra GTC is quite funky and energetic but Golf 1.4 TSI is popular among buyers. Under the boot, GTC churns out less 20 horeses than its counterpart Golf 1.4 TSI. There are quite a number of Golfs on the road but find that Astra GTC is hard to spot on. What are your opinions on these 2 cars? Would like to hear pros and cons from serious ownership's view.
  4. This Guy Added Rear Keyless Entry To A 2019 VW Golf R!?!?!?!?! source: https://www.motor1.com/news/382722/adding-rear-keyless-entry-golf/ An elegant solution to a simple problem. Let's face it; sometimes we buy a brand new car based solely on all the little stuff that's added to a specific trim or equipment package. I mean, who doesn't want Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, or even cooling and heating front seats? It's the little things that can make us spend that extra bit more on a specific vehicle, even if getting the top spec means it's price is already getting dangerously close to a larger basic spec car. Heck, when I was shopping for a car, I specifically wanted LED headlights and keyless entry. Those two things alone made sure I went for one of the most expensive subcompact cars as a city runabout. But what happens when you think you have it all, only to find out that other markets that sell your same vehicle have that extra bit of convenience that you crave? Well, you find out a way to do it yourself. That's exactly what HumbleMechanic set out to do with his recently acquired Volkswagen Golf R. You see, there will be times that you want your keyless entry to go even further; unlocking the front doors and trunk are good, but what about the rear doors? There are times when our hands are full and we need to store stuff in the car, but not necessarily need the trunk, right? In HumbleMechanic's Golf R, the rear doors do not have a sensor that detects the hand of the user, but the Volkswagen Atlas does. Out of pure laziness, as he puts it, he went out to rectify this problem by providing an informative video guide, comprised of a ton of research and tinkering. The goal is to retrofit the rear door sensors from the Atlas to the Golf. Heck, he even made his own harnesses to plug into the car's junctions, so it really isn't a plug-and-play thing you can order online.
  5. Real exotic car for sale. 1967 Volkswagen Beach Buggy. Looks damn prinstine for a 43 year old car... I mean buggy.
  6. Hi Guys, Just Sold my Passat, and the Original HU RCD 310 was upgraded a few weeks into getting the car so its barely used. Giving it away FOC as the older VW population is still pretty active and I hope it can help one of the owners. Here are some pictures Feel free to drop me a PM Cheers!
  7. I am new to a DSG gearbox (been only a week) so would welcome some advice. When going up the incline in HDB car park, my VW Golf 1.4TSI seems remarkably reluctant. I do know why this is happening - as I approach the incline I need to slow down (brake) and turn right to get onto the slope. The DSG gearbox thinks I am going to stop, so it is not in the right gear as I complete my turn. Opening the throttle slightly does not move the car up the incline, and with more throttle it moves too quickly. Also I have noted that when going down the incline in HDB car park, when you take your foot off the brake, and step on the accelerator, it seems reluctant to get going again. Again, I do know why this is happening... the DSG gearbox thinks I am going to stop, so it is not in the right gear as I complete my turn Have you encountered the same issue, and do you have any techniques, or is it just a matter of getting used to it? Been driving AT & CVT, and none of them had this issue. Thanks in advance, Naresh.
  8. Seems like no one notices this... Fast Lane: Volkswagen Polo big on featureshttps://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/motoring/fast-lane-volkswagen-polo-big-on-features Volkswagen's sixth-generation Polo is here. The first Polo built on the carmaker's new MQB platform, the car is powered by a 115hp/200Nm 1-litre turbocharged engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. For a small car, it has big features, including keyless entry, smartphone connectivity and six airbags. Two versions are available - Comfortline and Beats. The Polo accelerates from zero to 100kmh in 9.5 seconds. Prices start at $89,900.
  9. VW reveals the new Touareg, but not for America. https://www.autoblog.com/2018/03/23/vw-touareg-revealed-not-for-us-943371/ Volkswagen has just revealed the latest version of its first modern SUV, the Touareg. It's bigger and is way more high-tech than its predecessors. And according to Volkswagen, it's not for us in the United States. Instead, it will just be launching in overseas markets such as China and Europe. As such, we'll be missing out on one of the more gadget-laden VWs we've seen. The SUV will be available with a 12-inch Digital Cockpit display for the instruments as well as a huge 15-inch infotainment screen, bigger even than the 12-inch monster in the Ram 1500. VW gave this combination a name that wouldn't be out of place in a car from the '50s, or maybe a tech company from the '90s, the Innovision Cockpit. Volkswagen says drivers can use these screens to adjust many settings to adjust how the car drives, and to control what's happening in the interior and personalize it. The technology isn't restricted to the infotainment. Handling is enhanced with four-wheel-steering and electronically adjustable anti-roll bars. A full complement of safety features includes night vision, front cross-traffic assist, LED matrix headlights and Roadwork Lane Assist. This is a semi-autonomous feature that will handle steering, braking and accelerating at speeds up to 37 mph. Volkswagen notes the new Touareg is longer and wider than the current model, but through the use of aluminum and high-strength steel, it's 234 pounds lighter. Powering the bigger, wider body will be a range of engines including two diesel V6s making 228 horsepower and 282 horsepower. A 335-horsepower gasoline V6, 415-horsepower diesel V8, and 362-horsepower hybrid powertrain will also be available.
  10. This might be the first few photos of the actual car shot without its camouflage on. The car was photographed recently at its own commercial shoot. As reported on Carscoops, the new Golf Mk8 seen here is painted in the same color as recent prototypes, confirming that the many renderings previewing the latest Golf’s design have been spot on. Design wise, it is still unmistakably a Golf and that is no bad thing. While the guys here don't think that it is the prettiest Golf (that goes to the Mk5) ever produced, it still is no plain jane. Inside, the car will have a fully-digital gauge cluster and a large touchscreen for the infotainment system in the center of the console. It will also support over-the-air updates, which has made VW ensure the car’s software remains safe from cyberattacks by featuring over 100 million lines of code, versus the 10 million needed by a new car a decade ago. The new Golf is expected to be revealed officially in October.
  11. As above, interested to get a Toura n, if the price is right So far i think can nego for: 1) VW link software (For Apple Car play and AA) 2) $6K discount?

  13. Something that can please owners who might have some form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, is Volkswagen's new Self-leveling center wheel caps. For those who don't know what they do, these Dynamic Volkswagen Hub Caps, as Volkswagen calls it, allow the Volkswagen badge “to stand freely within the item, meaning that the roundel is always the correct way up, no matter the speed of the car or the position of the wheel". According to Volkswagen U.K., these caps are described as “deluxe items” that add “a touch of super-luxury to compatible models.” On the topic of models that can use it, it is ironic that the wheel caps are not suitable for the luxury models such as the Touareg and Phaeton. That said, owners of the Up!, Polo, Lupo, and T-Cross can’t use them either. Price wise, they cost around S$263 a set and owners of cars that can fit them can order them through U.K.'s Volkswagen Retailer Network. This is not the first brand nor car to have such a feature as Rolls-Royce has been using them for quite a long period of time. “If you’re after a touch of that super-expensive segment on your Volkswagen, or if you just want to quell the niggling irritation of badges pointing in different directions to one another, being upside-down or not being perfectly horizontal when parked, then these are definitely for you,” explains James Woolfe, Accessories and Merchandise Product Manager at Volkswagen U.K.
  14. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3N8MS8Gffg The terrifying footage shows that a man drove into an Automobile 4S Store in Beijing frantically and smashed around, crushing many equipment in the store on March 11, 2016. The man, surnamed Bai, bought a car in the store in July, 2015, but was unsatisfied with the product as well as the store’s service. He sued the store in February, 2016 after they had a dispute on how much refund should be returned. Eventually, the lawsuit was withdrawn. The salesman said this car attack came “without warning”, and they were “totally unprepared”. However, Bai had another story to tell. He said that his family was threatened as they were asked to drop the lawsuit. “The store threatened to find ten men to do something to my wife!” said Mr. Bai angrily. “I called before I came. I didn’t want to hurt anyone.” He said. The store manager responded to this, saying that “Our salesman does not have any contact information of Mr. Bai’s wife.”
  15. Any recommended shop that helps to install and link DVB-T2 HD Mobile Digital TV Tuner to existing In-Car entertainment system with LCD screen?
  16. "I WAS not surprised to read about Volkswagen receiving complaints about defective parts ("Volkswagen tops list of complaints about new cars"; May 31). With more Volkswagen cars on the road, I cannot comprehend how defects could have slipped through the cracks, with German technology renowned for its precision and attention to detail. I drive a Volkswagen Polo and had to haul it back to the workshop twice in the first two months after I bought it. The first incident - loud rumbling noises - occurred just two days after I collected my car. I was informed after a thorough inspection that its front suspension was loose. Two months later, I experienced a sudden braking force while driving on the expressway. I had to steer the car away from the divider to avoid an accident, damaging the rims and wheels when they hit a short kerb. When I filed the incident report with Volkswagen, the manager who handled my case told me repeatedly to "touch my heart to reflect" if the problem was with the driver, not the car. I felt ridiculed by this unprofessional company representative. In both cases, Volkswagen reported no technical fault with the car and I had to cover more than $16,000 in repairs. Having bought the car in July 2012, I was not protected under the "lemon law". Volkswagen is no longer what it used to be decades ago, when it was a fledgling continental brand keen to establish an Asian foothold. It is unfortunate that Volkswagen has lost the confidence and brand loyalty of customers like me. How Volkswagen employees communicate with customers also suggests the firm is neglecting the importance of maintaining first-class service standards, which could have differentiated it from other brands. Advertising and marketing campaigns to rejuvenate the Volkswagen brand in Singapore are merely surface improvements. Volkswagen must recognise that great service will leave an impression deeper than any fancy billboard and creative advertisement. Eugene Wong Jin Wei" - ST Forum, PUBLISHED ON JUN 9, 2014 12:05 AM
  17. With the new eighth generation of the Golf set to be launched in soon, fans have already asked what could be game-changing in the new Golf R. As reported by Carscoops, Jost Capito who is now the boss at Volkswagen’s R division, revealed that the new Golf R is unlikely to get a Drift mode. While we understand that the Golf R has always been the more restrained choice for the hot hatch enthusiasts, we couldn't help but imagine that Capito, who used to be with Ford, would implement such a feature. “The Focus RS feels geared up for fun above everything”, he said. “Drift mode is a free piece of technology that comes from the drive systems they’re using. But it’s not for us.” He was then questioned on whether the R needed a four-wheel steering system, like the current Renault Megane R.S. He replied, “it’s just not necessary on a car the size of the Golf” The new car is expected to have more than 300bhp but nowhere near the 400bhp mark as reported earlier in the year.
  18. New 2019 Volkswagen T-Cross joins brand’s SUV range https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volkswagen/t-cross/94502/new-2019-volkswagen-t-cross-joins-brand-s-suv-range The all-new VW T-Cross SUV sits below the larger T-Roc, rivalling the SEAT Arona and Kia Stonic This is the all-new Volkswagen T-Cross, the latest and smallest SUV from the German brand. It’s a rival for the likes of the Nissan Juke, Citroen C3 Aircross and SEAT Arona and due to go on sale in the UK early next year priced from around £16,500. It sits beneath the T-Roc in Volkswagen’s lineup and shares a lot of its mechanical running gear with the Polo supermini. It’s based on the same MQB A0 platform and measures in at 4,107mm long and 1,558mm tall, which makes it 54mm longer and 97mm wider than the Polo. Drivers also sit 100mm higher in the T-Cross than they would in the hatchback. • New Volkswagen T-Cross prototype review In the flesh its chunky wheel arches, boxy profile and tall bonnet give the T-Cross a more prominent SUV look than any of its rivals. On paper, at least, it’s also more practical; the 385-litre boot – larger than a VW Golf’s – can expand to 455 litres with the rear bench slid forward, while dropping the bench completely frees up 1,281 litres of luggage space. “The T-Cross is about versatility – that’s its number one focus,” Felix Kaschutzke, T-Cross project for manager sales & marketing, told Auto Express. “This car is built for young, small families, the car is very versatile for these types of customers.” To keep costs down, four-wheel drive will not be offered; all T-Cross models will be front-wheel drive. In the UK, buyers will get the option of a 94bhp or 113bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Both use a six-speed manual as standard, while a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is available as an option. While a 1.6-litre TDI engine is available to buyers on the continent, Volkswagen UK has decided against selling it over here due to the market’s shift way from diesel-powered cars. However, it could be offered later down the line if there is demand – along with the possibility of mild-hybrid technology, too. • Best small SUVs and crossovers on sale Inside, the overall design is recognisable from the Polo; a central touchscreen on the dashboard gives access to all of the car’s functions and is offered in two sizes: 6.5 and 8.0 inches. VW’s digital instrument cluster, called Active Info Display, is also available and will be standard on higher-spec models. VW’s usual array of specs will make up the range in the UK, starting with entry-level S models and moving up through SE, SEL and R-Line trims. As standard all models will feature alloy wheels (sizes range from 16 -18 inches), blind spot monitoring, Bluetooth, air-con and four USB charging ports. Options include wireless phone charging, adaptive cruise control, keyless go and a sunroof. VW is one of the last big car makers to add a compact SUV to its model range. Asked why it had taken so long for the German firm to develop the T-Cross, Kaschutzke cited production constraints and wanting to get the model set-up exactly how customers expect it to be: “It’s clear we are late with this car,” he said. “But this something we have done before. Usually we are not the first in the segment but we are usually the best,” Kaschutzke explained. “What we made sure with the T-Cross is to make it a true SUV, with SUV characteristics such as the seating position and versatility, this is the number one priority we have with the car,” he added. “This is the difference between this car and other competitors – we are doing it differently.”
  19. During its recent Annual General Meeting, Volkswagen teased us with a digital the interior of the new Golf but now spy photographers can show us the real thing. As published by Carscoops, the Golf's interior is very different from today's model. Adopting a minimalist interior like most of the newer cars today, the dash features two large screen, one as the instrumental cluster and one for the infotainment system. A third smaller screen seemed to have been placed in between the aircon vents to display the climate control's status. Elsewhere, we can see a new steering wheel and new door panels with aluminum trim. The new car is set to be revealed in October and according to the German company, the car will once again “set the benchmark in the compact class.” In particular, they said the car will have class-leading comfort and connectivity as well as good fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions. They will be available with mild- and plug-in hybrid variants and the plug-in hybrid models will be able to travel up to 80 km on electricity alone.

  21. China’s All-New Volkswagen Passat Previews What America Will Soon Get?https://carbuzz.com/news/china-s-all-new-volkswagen-passat-previews-what-america-will-soon-get Say goodbye to the current bland-looking Passat. Say hello to this stunner? We’ve known for some time now that Volkswagen has been hard at work on an all-new North American market Passat. The current generation, built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has been on sale since 2011. Compared to its immediate predecessor, the outgoing Passat is, in a word, bland, styling wise. It’s not that it was a bad car but it was very conservatively styled inside out. What’s more, it was designed and built specifically for North America while Europe received a more stylish and premium Passat. That won’t be the case for much longer. Thanks to VW Vortex, we’re getting our first look at the newly revealed Chinese market Passat and the car you’re looking at is said to very much resemble what’s about to debut for the US. Without question there’s lots of Arteon design influences throughout, especially up front and from a side profile. Despite having the familiar three-box sedan design, this new Passat is sleeker and unquestionably sexier than today’s car. Despite the sloped roofline, there’s still a traditional trunk as opposed to a liftback design. It’s also bigger than the Euro-spec Passat. For example, it’s about 3 inches longer and has roomier rear seat. Speaking of which, note the quilted leather and fancy glass bottles in the center armrest cupholders. The cupholders will surely be on the US market version, but we’re not so sure about the upgraded upholstery rear seats. Remember, it’s very fashionable in China for owners to be chauffeured around town by a hired driver, hence the need for VW to upgrade the rear seats. It doesn’t work like that in America. The new Passat will ride on VW’s MQB platform which also underpins the likes of the Arteon, Atlas, Jetta, and Europe’s Passat. Under the hood, there’s a good chance the VW will make further use of the same turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four with 268 hp found in the Arteon. It’s paired to an eight-speed automatic sending power to either the front or all four wheels. The Arteon’s US launch was recently delayed and isn’t expected to go on sale until early next year. The all-new Passat, however, will likely debut at either Los Angeles in late November or at Detroit in mid-January.
  22. Hi, anyone tried this service ? Wonder if there is any gimmick.
  23. Very sleek and spacious with nice interior ......will sell well if it's as reliable (ahem2 DSG)
  24. Volkswagen latest all-electric vehicle ID.3, has got off to a good start in terms of interest. The company has collected more than 10,000 orders only 24 hours after becoming available for pre-booking in Europe. This comes as a pleasant surprise as only 30,000 units of the ID.3 1ST launch edition version are available. Would-be owners are required to put in a €1,000 (S$1,529) refundable deposit for the car that has a driving range of up to 420km and is priced from under €40,000 ( S$61,120). Those who managed to get the launch edition of the ID.3 will also get free recharging for the first year up to a maximum of 2,000 kWh. According to Volkswagen, the company’s IT systems are sometimes “unable to handle the large number of users accessing the system at the same time." as interest for the car was higher than expected. The company is aware of the interruptions in the registration process and is working hard to solve the issue. Production of the electric vehicle will start at the end of 2019 and the first vehicles will reach customers in mid-2020.
  25. Volkswagen's Golf GTI TCR is the last of the special editions for the mk7 generation of the GTIs. So is it the best one of them all? Inspired by the TCR International Series, the Golf GTI TCR is not the most hardcore of the Mk7 GTIs but with 286bhp from its 2.0-litre turbo four paired exclusively to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels, it is far from soft. Watch what Carfection's Henry Catchpole has to say about the car in the video below!
