  1. Comparing between 1. Saab 93 SportCombi 2. Subaru Legacy GT Wagon (BP9) 3. Volvo V50 (2.4 or T5) All used cars, price comparable and OMV also in the low to mid 30s. Will use for about 4 years to scrap, so depreciation also about the same. Dont intend to mod or chip up beyond stage 1. Which of above better choice in terms of drive, servicing, reliability, workshop n parts? Like to hear from those who have experience. with the above.
  2. Voxy28

    MAZDA 6

How come this model like no value one? 5k dep nia... Sell that time should be 4k...... jialat. Is it a problematic car?
  3. It will be available in both Liftback and estate version, while the next generation Passat will be available solely in estate form. For me, I will gladly take this estate variant, preferably in Scout trim (with >270 horsepower, 4x4 drive train, raised height,etc.). This heavily camouflaged prototype was caught testing with Czech registration plates without fake body panels or cladding. The proportions seem largely unchanged with the only notable difference probably being the slightly more sloped roofline. Underneath the skin, the architecture underpinning the new Superb will be an evolution of the MQB platform used by the current model. The production of the new Superb should begin next year at Volkswagen’s plant in Bratislava, Slovakia. In local context, that means end 2024 will be the earliest it will hit our shore.
  4. The all-new 2017 Impreza debuts the Subaru Global Platform architecture that's designed to deliver significantly higher levels of driving pleasure, agility, crash protection and ride comfort and will underpin a variety of upcoming Subaru vehicles, including hybrids. As before, every Impreza is equipped as standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a boon to driving agility and traction and a key advantage over front-wheel drive competitors. The roomier 2017 Impreza models also debut the brand's new design language and new driver-assist technology. Also new, multimedia features including standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ and standard Near Field Communication connectivity debut on Impreza. The new Impreza will be available in base, Premium, Sport and Limited trim lines when it arrives in Subaru dealerships in late 2016. Subaru's new design language puts the brand's signature hexagonal grille and hawk-eye headlights onto a more sculptural body, its athletic stance accentuated by prominent wheel arches and flowing lines. The dramatic new look carries into the cabin, with an outward-flow design that follows the front of the car. The 2017 Impreza rides on a 105.1-in. wheelbase, up 1.0-in. over the last generation Impreza. Both the Sedan and 5-Door are 1.6-in. longer than the outgoing models, and both are 1.5 in. wider. The larger dimensions create a roomier cabin, while a 0.4-in. lower height helps improve aerodynamics with a lower coefficient of drag. Although sleeker in appearance than the previous models, the 2017 Impreza Sedan and 5-Door preserve excellent all-around visibility. The new Subaru Global Platform, together with the Boxer engine, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and EyeSight® that represent Subaru's core technologies, constitutes the basic foundation of the next generation of Subaru vehicles. Impreza's new platform incorporates new frameworks with optimized cross sections and highly stiffened joints between structures to significantly enhance straight-line stability, agility and ride comfort while suppressing noise, vibration and harshness to a degree not seen in the compact class. Specifically, the new platform increases rigidity of the unitized body structure by over 70 percent. A lower center of gravity and revised suspension systems contribute to the biggest-ever leap in Subaru's performance evolution. The double-wishbone independent rear suspension mounts its rear stabilizer bar directly to the body, which helps reduce body roll by 50 percent compared to the outgoing model. Greater hazard-avoidance capability is another benefit of the Subaru Global Platform's inherent handling agility. In addition, the resolute straight-line stability that makes the 2017 Impreza more relaxing to drive is also an important constituent of the autonomous driving capability this platform can support in future Subaru vehicles. Taking full advantage of the new stiffer platform and more powerful engine, the Impreza 2.0i Sport, now available in the Sedan as well as 5-Door, delivers a more fun-to-drive performance feel thanks to exclusive suspension tuning, 18-inch machine-finish alloy wheels and Active Torque Vectoring. Subaru aimed for a new ride/handling balance benchmark in the compact segment. The Sport also includes a new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System, which is available on other models. Exclusive exterior styling and features setting the Impreza Sport apart include standard LED daytime running lights (DRL), black-finish front grille, body-color rocker panels and turn signal side mirrors. The Impreza Sport 5-Door features gloss black rear gate trim, while the Sport Sedan has a rear trunk spoiler. Inside the Sport, unique black cloth upholstery is trimmed with red stitching, a motif that repeats for the steering wheel, gear shift, instrument panel and door trim. The instrument panel incorporates exclusive Sport gauges and a Multi-Function Display. The Sport comes well equipped, with upgrades over the Impreza Premium that include the Subaru STARLINK™ 8.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system, and a new harman/kardon® premium audio system is available. Keyless Access & Push-Button Start, aluminum pedals, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift handle and a CVT shift boot round out the Sport's enhanced standard equipment. A revised version of the FB 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Boxer engine gains direct fuel injection and other enhancements to boost both performance (now 152 horsepower vs. 148 before) and drivability. In highline trims, the Lineartronic® CVT (continuously variable transmission) features a 7-speed manual mode function with steering wheel paddle shifters that allow the driver to control the transmission via seven pre-set ratios. Subaru designed the 2017 Impreza to provide even higher levels of safety than the outgoing model, which was named an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK and a TOP SAFETY PICK+ when equipped with available EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. The new platform underpinning the 2017 Impreza improves crash energy absorption by 40 percent over present models. The EyeSight® system includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Departure and Sway Warning, plus a Lane Keep Assist function. Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are also available. Also new are available Steering Responsive Headlights, which can illuminate curves as the vehicle steers into them, and High Beam Assist, which automatically activates and deactivates the high beam headlamps based on driving conditions. All 2017 Impreza models include as standard equipment front seat side impact airbags, side curtain airbags and a driver's knee airbag. The 2017 Impreza adds new driver-assist technologies, including Reverse Automatic Braking and the display of steering lines for the standard rear vision camera. Reverse Automatic Braking can apply the vehicle's brakes if an obstacle is detected while reversing. A new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System can detect pressure drops at individual wheels. Subaru STARLINK™ Multimedia systems offer the latest in digital music playing, Bluetooth® wireless capability, iPod® control, smartphone integration and more. The display screen also provides the display for the standard rear vision camera, and the top-level system includes navigation. The available Subaru STARLINK™ Safety and Security Connected Services give the 2017 Impreza one of the industry's most affordable telematics options. Depending on the package selected, features can include SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, Maintenance Notifications, Monthly Vehicle Health Report and Diagnostic Alerts, Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service, Vehicle Security Alarm Notification, Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn and Lights and Remote Vehicle Locator.
  5. Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Spotted, Brings Wagons Into The Electric Era Porsche is continuing the development of the Taycan Cross Turismo, the electric model’s upcoming wagon variant, at the Nurburgring. The long-roof version of the electric Porsche Taycan was seen being driven quite hard on the German track, with the test car said to be the range-topping Turbo S model because of the characteristic wheel design. Despite Porsche having already revealed the Taycan in full production guise, the Cross Turismo model still retains most of the plastic cladding on its body, including the fake headlight and roof line covers. Porsche’s intentions of adding a second bodystyle to the Taycan range became official back in 2018 with the reveal of the Cross Turismo concept, which posed as a crossover-styled wagon featuring extra body cladding and a raised ground clearance. Customers will be offered pretty much the same powertrain options with the regular Taycan, which as of now starts from the base 4S, the 4S Performance Battery Plus, the Turbo and the Turbo S models. All versions feature two electric motors, one per axle, for all-wheel drive and a two-speed transmission mounted at the back. Performance should be on par with the regular Taycan, which on the range-topping Turbo S version offers up to 750 HP (761 PS) and 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque on overboost, along with a neck-snapping 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds (0-100km/h in 2.8) and a top speed of 161 mph (260 km/h). As with almost every wagon variant available in the market, the upcoming Taycan Cross Turismo is expected to offer a much more practical (and larger) luggage space, together with slightly more room for the heads of rear passengers. The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is expected to launch in the end of 2020, and if you find yourself wondering how the final product will look like, just take a look at the 2018 concept.

  8. https://www.sgcarmart.com/news/events_features.php?AID=4149 Firstly, I came across this article when I was trying to search on family cars so congrats to Julian Kho, Editor of SGCM for the third kid on the way! And congratulations for selling your car off at a favourable market situation for used car owners. Such a bittersweet feeling to have to part with one's car in the name of family and kids but this is really the inevitable. I'll never be able to understand what it means to sacrifice one's happiness for others because it's always been about me, myself and I. How can one go from sports car to family hauler MPVs? But that's exactly why you see Honda Streams and Odysseys with aggressive exterior styling, loud exhausts and erm... baby seats 🥶 Now back to my thread. And it so happened that a friend has been asking me for family car recommendations because I work at sgCarMart. I don't! A selfish younger me would say, just buy according to the number of seats you need or stop procreating. But the older me started surfing around sgCarMart for potential choices around the 170K budget for 5 + ad-hoc 2 pax lol. Other than the obvious MPV route, could one go for a wagon when planning for the family? I want to say the Skoda Octavia Combi looks really good but versus the traditional MPVs, you lose out on seating capacity and comfort. The next on my mind? The CX-8. Spacious, luxurious, seats either 6 or 7 pax in comfort. And then I continued searching and got carried away and came across so many other options especially from the Parallel Importers but they all kinda look the same. And of course we need to have articles like this one here telling us exactly what we need want to hear, that MPVs are not boring. I think the Volkswagen Group of cars have some interesting offerings that you don't come across aplenty in other car brands like the integrated child seats or booster seats in the SEATs and the Volkswagens; perhaps Volvos and Citroens. I've also wondered what are the folding tables for? Do parents let kids eat in your car? 🥶 So parents, what are your concerns when shopping for a family car other than what your wallet can afford? Do you actively look out for the driving assistance, or luxury features like built-in baby seats or even lots of cubby holes to store diapers? 😅
  9. Wet dream for wagon lover... The Avant E-Tron shares the same dimensions as the earlier A6 Sportback E-Tron Concept. Both are 4.96 meters long, 1.96 meters wide, and 1.44 meters tall. The difference is in the rear styling where the Avant has a more angular roof to make room for the larger cargo area. The result of this sleek look is a 0.24 drag coefficient, versus 0.22 for the Sportback. The A6 Avant E-Tron Concept rides on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which is also underneath the forthcoming Q6 E-Tron crossover. It has an electric motor turning each axle for a total output of 469 horsepower (350 kilowatts) and 800 Newton-meters of torque. Audi isn't disclosing the exact battery capacity but indicates the figure is around 100 kilowatt-hours. The 800-volt, 270-kilowatt recharging capacity allows for getting 300 kilometers of WLTP range within as little as 10 minutes. Less than 25 minutes is necessary to take the pack from 5 to 80 percent. Depending on the powertrain, the production A6 Avant E-Tron would be able to reach 100 kilometers per hour in less than seven seconds or as quick as "well under four seconds" for high-performance models, according to the company's announcement. A rear-drive version of the electric A6 Avant would be capable of 700 kilometers on a charge.
  10. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/560074/mercedes-discontinuing-wagons-2030-report/ Well, the future is looking bleak for Mercedes wagons. Where Volvo is determined to keep both wagons and sedans alive, Mercedes is allegedly taking a different route. According to a new Automobilwoche report, the German automaker plans to discontinue offering any wagon in its lineup by the end of the decade. The dominos will start to fall with the CLA Shooting Brake, which will disappear from the Mercedes lineup for the 2025 model year, with no successor planned. A future generation E-Class, which will allegedly arrive in 2030, won’t offer a wagon variant either, according to the report. Mercedes introduced the latest-generation C-Class with a traditional wagon model, also offering a high-riding All-Terrain version that’s only available in Europe, but who knows how long those will survive. The death knell for Mercedes wagons began ringing back in September when company COO Markus Schäfer discussed the dwindling appeal and market for wagons at a time when automakers are also spending billions to transition to electric vehicles. Allocating money to design, develop, and build EVs for a shrinking customer base isn’t easy to justify when customers want electric crossovers and SUVs instead. Automobilwoche’s report notes that the company is considering alternatives to offer these customers, especially to German ones. Mercedes could offer high-riding sedans that can accommodate the batteries in the floor or make a starker distinction between the crossovers and SUVs in its lineup. However, the report doesn’t speculate on what this splitting could entail.
  11. The best all-rounder from VW is back with more power than ever and a Drift mode. Source: https://www.motor1.com/photo/5954040/volkswagen-golf-r-variant-2021/ Wagon, Combi, Variant, Estate – call it what you want, the long-roof Volkswagen Golf R lives to see a new generation to serve as a more sensible alternative to high-performance SUVs. It's not the only fast wagon in Wolfsburg's portfolio anymore as the attractive Arteon has spawned an estate version as well, complete with a spicy R derivative. The new Golf R Variant takes everything you like about the hot hatch and adds heaps of practicality courtesy of a bigger cargo area and roof rails for even greater storage capabilities. Owners can store 611 liters (21.57 cubic feet) of luggage with the rear seats in place and 1,642 liters (58 cubic feet) after folding the bench. Practicality is amplified by bag hooks, lashing eyes, and a luggage net, on top of a 12 V connection and a 230-volt socket. To sweeten the deal, VW also throws in a handsfree tailgate and dedicated controls for electrically extending and retracting towing bracket. Being bigger than the Golf R Variant Mk7, the new-generation model also offers more rear legroom thanks to a stretched wheelbase. Just about everything else has been carried over from the hatchback, including the turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine. The four-pot delivers an identical 315 horsepower (235 kilowatts) and 420 Newton-meters (310 pound-feet) of torque to create the beefiest VW wagon ever. Output is delivered to the torque-vectoring 4Motion all-wheel-drive system through a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. Because the wagon is a tad heavier than the five-door version, it needs 4.9 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) or an extra 0.2s over the hatch. Top speed stays the same, at 155 mph (250 km/h) for the standard version and 168 mph (270 km/h) if you go for the R Performance Package. The optional kit also replaces the standard 18-inch wheels with a 19-inch set and adds Special (Nürburgring mode) and Drift driving profiles. As with the versions before it, the new Golf R Variant will mostly be a European affair. It's scheduled to go on sale from mid-August in Germany, UK, and Switzerland. Pricing details have not been disclosed, but it will likely cost a tad more than the Golf R hatchback available in its domestic market from €49,400. The wagon will cross the €50,000 threshold, making it the most expensive production Golf ever, but still significantly cheaper than the €61,980 Arteon Shooting Brake R.
  12. Should Singapore Bring in Ford Focus ST Wagon? I have watched some of the media launches ystd from Taiwan media and was shocked that the Focus is a well-positioned and well-liken car in Taiwan! 18. Jaguar has just handed out details of its XFR-S Sportbrake - a fire breathing, 543bhp 5.0-litre supercharged wagon capable of dishing out a 4.8 seconds century sprint. Everytime a carmaker spices things up, people (like us) get excited. Moreover we are talking about a Jag here - who could resist a sexy feline that has just gotten hotter? Based on the XF, the XFR-S Sportbrake is Jaguar's first high performance, R-S badged estate. With that in mind, you can't help but to bring in more 'established' players - such as Audi's RS6 Avant and Mercedes-Benz's E63 AMG S-Model Estate into the picture. A quick comparison with the two Germans shows that the Jag loses out both in the horsepower contest and the race to 100km/h. The RS6's 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 develops 560bhp and 700Nm of torque for a 3.9 seconds century sprint timing. The E63 AMG, too, has a bi-turbo V8 - but bored to 5.5-litre. With 585bhp on tap, it will despatch the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.1 seconds. But we reckon you won't encounter either of these two on a daily basis. More importantly, the Jag has the looks to kill. Like any super sports car, the XFR-S gets larger-than-life 20-inch rims to help boast a solid, purposeful stance. Those side blades do look a tad too familiar though (like those on the RS6). And of course, part of the Sportbrake's appeal lies in its ability to swallow cargo while keeping up with supercars - up to 1,675 litres with the rear seats folded.
  19. [ Unlike the Italians, Germans are more eloquent in their art of disguise. This, particularly in the way their performance cars are made. Ferraris and Lamborghinis scream supercar with their vivid, attention catching colours, while the Merc AMGs, BMW Ms and Audi RSes are quick to have you mistake them for just another motoring staple. And here, we may have another example of a wolf in sheep's skin. On the outside, nothing quite separate this A6 Avant from its tamer siblings. The usual suspects are absent - no range-topping 'RS' kit or badge. What it has though, are adequately sporty S-line dressings. And a set of 20-inch rims - which does not look overtly large in those wheel arches. Here comes the exciting part. A 3.0-litre bi-turbo V6 diesel engine, giving the A6 Avant enough power to dish out the century sprint in 5.3 seconds. That's about just half a second slower than the RS4. Then there's the chunky 650Nm of torque, which makes driving in our urban landscape a breeze. The Avant (Audi's speak for wagon) has become an icon in the world of automotive shapes. And we reckon it just adds to the uniqueness of the car's overall preposition.

  21. Just recently, Mazda announced that production of the all new Mazda6 has officially started and the sedan version was showcased at the recent Moscow Auto Show. Mazda intends to debut the car at the upcoming Paris Motor Show later this month. But before Mazda does that, the Japanese automaker has unveiled the car ahead of its scheduled debut. Mazda Motor Corporation will hold the world premiere of the all new Mazda6 wagon (known as the Atenza in Japan) at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and the sedan version will be exhibited alongside it. Both models displayed at the Paris Motor Show will feature Mazda's new Skyactiv-D 2.2 clean diesel engine. The Skyactiv-D 2.2-litre diesel engine is available in either Standard Power or High Power versions. Both engine types comply with Europe's Euro 6 emissions standards. Additionally, the new Mazda6 will also be available with the Skyactiv-G 2.0 and Skyactiv-G 2.5 direct injection gasoline engines. The 2.0 litre engine makes 134bhp and 210Nm of torque and the 2.5-litre engine delivers 189bhp and 256Nm of torque. The new Mazda6 is the flagship model for a new generation of Mazda products and is the second of Mazda's new generation of vehicles which incorporate both the full range of Skyactiv technologies and the new Kodo
