  1. anyone care to give me some advices on this type of car shampoo i am using....i am not sure whether i will be using it as i just went for waxing and sealant. maybe i should just stick to wash and wax. but this shampoo really good at removing dirt... but shine i not sure.... so what should i do? shine or remove dirt? my car is white
  2. In the Polyglaze website, it is called Wash and Revive, 2-in-1. OK I was using this wash when I had the Starlet. Very sudsy. In Malaysia, you can get the bottle for RM15.00 which will work out to SGD7.00 and I usually get mine from Carrefour Johor. I got back to it when I discovered the Super 99 car wash has some polymer in it. 3 modes of uses. 4 capfuls in a gallon makes strong wash. 2 capfuls in a gallon makes regular strength wash. Undiluted will serve as bug and tar remover. The bottle of the stuff if some of you have seen it is weird. It is a mix of 2 solution inside. A blue lower layer and a purple top layer. I believe the top is the organic strong stuff that removes bug and tar. The lower layer is the actual shampoo. The bottle has to be shaken to form a purple emulsion before mixing with water. OK I decided to do my sis and her hubby a favor after seeing the sorry state of their black Protoge. So I offered my services for a hot meal. Yes times are bad..........AS IF! Hmm... they live in a condo and there is this whole row of lots reserved for car washing! Just get the tap adaptor from the security and viola, unlimited supply of water. Lets see, I got along MF towels for drying and buffing, terry applicators, Soft99 green claybar and my trusty giant Kent oversized sponge. Not forgetting my 20m rolled up Claber hose which kinks like hell. Hopefully upgrade the hose to 20m yellow Hozelok version next time. OK their car is really in a sorry state. The shine isn't there. I decided to test the Power Wash in its strong wash configuration. I started out with hosing the car to break up the loose dirt. Then I proceeded to wash it and claybaring using the Power Wash mix as the lubricant. So how? The solution is so slippery it served very well as the lubricant for the claybar. Got rid of the dirt like it is household detergent. The surface was prepped so smooth, the wind will be happy and laugh over it. Did it panel by panel. Having the water on demand really helped. Do a panel claybaring along the way then hose off. They did warn that the product should not dry on the surface. I guess it must be organic component which can become very damaging. After that, dried the car down. Then came the Klasse AIO which I did panel by panel again. Then after some rest looking for areas I missed out. I did the Klasse SG panel by panel. Great cardio especially for the KSG part. I used the damp applicator and immediate buff technique. For both the KAIO and KSG part, the remnants on the applicators were used to prep all the glass surfaces save the front windshield for some water beading effects. The side mirrors were given this same treatment. Even the head and tail lights are not spared. Yes, lastly the rims are also Klassed when the applicators are at their dirtiest. Oh yes, the Protoge's bumpers are truly well finished as a complete product. They are not painted black bumpers. Their shine shows it all. Unlike the Aveo's bumpers which are actually painted bumpers which accounts for their lack of shine compared to the rest of the metallic bodywork of the car. So don't fret Aveo owners, its our car and not the workmanship. For their black plastic stock mud guards I used Polyglaze Solar Warrior. I chose this because it smells great, it actually shines and the protection is there and it can be used for internal plastic surfaces as well. Finally the tires are given the F1 Black Gold treatment. Endurance is great but too messy and cumbersome. F1BG is value for money. Unfortunately, I didn't have my cam with me to show you the great results. My sis came down and gaped at the results. Her fingers actually touched the surface and commented that it is smooth as te finest porcelein. My payment? Wife and daughter got to use the pool as I worked and I got myself a fine hot meal.

  7. Home Fix DIY is selling this ultra cheap car shampoo. I bought. Now that my windshield is treated with CeO it is ultra smooth. However, one wash session has made a the windshield judder. I have traced it to the shampoo. Don't intend to buy it if you are not a fan of wash and wax shampoos. Meanwhile, need to get rid of 5 X 1L bottles of them

  9. Juz collected my new ride few weeks back... Last weekend, happened to wash my car. Had used tap water only with soft cloth to clean exterior, but after washing noticed some very fine scratches under the sun... :( To make it worst, there were some birds droppings. Which after washing, I can see very fine mark under sun.... :( Had done the research in MCF under car wash but how come mine end up with very fine scratch marks. Is it ok to use juz plain water for 1st wash? My friend went to car wash at petrol station and it is very clean... is there a different between the wash from petrol station n DIY?
  10. For self wash, other than multi storey carpark washing bay, where do you guys go to wash your car? I live in HDB and i hate to go MSCP wash car. Anyone know of any place that have hose and free water to wash car? Most importantly it is safe. Pls help.

  12. wash until face green green bend here, stretch there i anticipate myself got lots of aches here and there but im actually enjoying it i think i used too much shampoo, got lots of dried suds when i was drying it took me nearly 2 hrs left at 11. just came back i thought that when i was detailed enough, i found i missed the nook and crannies, rubber seals and all enjoyed myself though(but i found hairline scratches, i hope not caused by me)
  13. Anyone know of the cheapest car wash available in the East or Paya Lebar area? Refering to mannual car wash?
  14. I know this sounds like a dumb question, but indulge me.. since my new car has the marks of a serial vandal (still trying to catch the nutcase), was thinking what the hell, just let the petrol kiosk wash the car for me - couldn't possibly add on more scratches than what my poor car has suffered already. During car wash, do you guys normally let the engine idling and suck in all those CO? Or do you switch off and get out of the car?
  15. as of now. i only know how to drive but dunno how to wash car are there any links / thread in this forum that teaches me how? many thanks[:)]
  16. Talk about using mama lemon....chk it out : http://www.bettercarcare.com/articles.php?articleId=9
  17. The results are very good. Isopropanol improves the wetting properties of the washer fluid. Final concentration is 10% in DI water. The original cheapo formulation is actually 9 cups water to 1 cup isopropanol plus 1 TBS of dishwashing liquid. I didn't use the dishwashing liquid for fear of it drying up along the lines. This works out to be roughly 2.5L if you take into consideration 1 cup = 250mL. I think the rationale is this. Isopropanol is a more "organic" alcohol compared with ethanol so grease and grime tends to dissolve in it. Moreover, ethanol is more expensive than isopropanol. Isopropanol is also not as volatile as ethanol so once diluted with water, it tends to stay in the solution rather than evaporate away. It is easy for me to get this because I work in a lab but you can get isopropanol from the pharmacy. It comes as rubbing alcohol. DI water is deionized water. Actually I used RO water which was easily available to me. Isopropanol is also known as isopropyl alcohol.
  18. Weekly, i drop by at Kiosk for manual wash - $6 An ah nei approach me at my HDB Carpark, offer me $40 for a month, everyday except weekends. Question, which is better in long run.
  19. Dunno whether this is old news but IMM Giant is selling Meguairs Cleaner Wax at $10 per bottle and Meguairs Deep Crystal carwash (2Q bottle, purple color) at $10 (stated regular price both $16+ each). Anyone has any experience/comments on them ? Can the Cleaner Wax be used after application of Klasse or Zaino i.e. is the "cleaning" property undesirable in such a situation as it may strip away the good stuff? What would be the ideal situation to use it ? Thanx
  20. Anyone can advise me where to get my car engine bay wash?? Is it chemical wash or just soap and water?? I heard there is a steam wash??.... good or not? advise me about the price also can?? address also please...
  21. Hi! Is it better to use a sponge to shampoo the car? Will it cause swirl marks? THanks!
  22. Do you gurus think this might work or if you have some added value or suggestion. A self contained portable air-tank filled with compressed air to create a pressure on a body of water inside a pail, pushing the water out at a adjustable pressure for washing the car. The self-contained air-tank should last something like 15~25 minutes, refillable at any petrol kiosk; insert the compressed air hose at the kiosk into the portable airtank until full, then put into the boot and drive off. At the car washing point, place and secure the air tank onto the pail of water; release the compressed air. Aim the water hose at the car and wash away the soap studs and all. Advantage: one time fixed cost for the equipments, each time you filled the pail with water is $0.20. Filled the airtank@petrol kiosk = $0.00 + time.
  23. Anyone know whats a good place to get car wash,so far i find the caltex Snow wash the best ....machine wash looks like dying OFF(No good for the paint i guess)....of course the ultimate is wash yourself.....but sometimes....lazy
