    Rims washing

I dont know whether washing rims comes under detailing. But heck LOL What i do when i wash the Cefiro, Latio rims -Wet it -Mix about 10ml of Polyglaze Wash and Wax shampoo ( light blue one) into a pail and TURN ON WATER at full blast to create foam. -Wet sponge and then start cleaning and scrubbing But BUT! recently, the foam like, gets effervescence-ed off by the rims and by the time im done with the rim, the rim is like.. feeling oily and disgusting. Lol. to me lah. The smell of soap and rim smell.. doesnt smell too good.LOL. then, i will quickly spray off. It works, the rims are clean. But how to wash rims like how i did last time, Wash with plenty of foam and when i finish, still lots of foam rolling off the rim..?? And... I cant seem to find anymore Polyglaze wash and wax shampoo for the rims anymore.. can i use normal washing clothes detergent to wash the rims? As long as i dun kena the car paint? Or must buy shampoo? Tks !!!
  2. This evening saw one uncle washing at the MSCP. He took a total of 5 times in inserting his cashcard for the water supply. Don't know how he wash wan? I took only 2 times. Each time can fill about 2 pails of water. 1st for shampooing and next for rinsing. What about you guys out there?
  3. Hi, Where I can find car parks with water-dispensers (coin or cash-car operated) for car washing? Any in the North, like Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Yio Chu Kang and Yishun etc. Thanks!

  6. So far I found the following: 1. 60 cents. 2. An ultra-plush washing cloth. 3. A bottle of leftover wiper wash. I only used the 60 cents for my own car wash. Some owners are really careless...
  7. For those on knn filter, do you stick to the knn cleaner strictly? Has anybody tried using other soap solution (eg mama lemon?). Will it really do any harm?

    Car Washing

What steps U guys take when washing your cars? Here is my normal car washing regime (about 1-1.5hrs) - Hose down wheels, wheel well and undercarriage - Wash rims, calipers and tires with wheel cleaner - Rinse car with water - Shampoo from top down (with another bucket for plain water to rinse wash mitt) - Hose down entire car and wheels again - Dry car body with California wiper blade and microfibre towel - Dry inside doors and drainages with Selleys SuperCloth (yellow color one) - Clean engine bay with SuperCloth - Shake of dirt from rubber mat - Dry wheels - Quick detail car body - Stare at my Brick! Whew! Sometimes additional touchups like polishing stains, polish glass, vacuming takes more time So wat's your regime? Share
  9. Saw some studded rims[rims with bolts] and kinda like it. Was thinking abt the maintenance part though n those tyre shops were saying 2 things: 1. Never use anything else to wash these kinda rims other than Mama-lemon, not even the best off the shelf well known brands of rim cleaners! 2. Asked how they clean those studs, they say use a brush! Now what brush? How do you brothers with studded rims clean yr rims?

    Rim Washing

Hi Sis & Bro, Anyone? Any suggestion where to do? How much if you know No DIY please MarcosTan
  14. I recently started using the FibreShine Microfibre Washing Matt and found it to be a lot better than the sponge I was using previously. But the biggest headache I have with the Washing Matt is the cleaning up afterwards. Some of the dirt get trapped really good in the microfibre and its a pain to remove it. Rigorious rinsing and scrabbing dun get rid of the dirt completely and I have to resort to using a tweeter to remove the dirt. Is there a better way to get rid of those trapped dirt??
  15. Hi every week i wash the car by myself.....use the car clothes and just plain water.. Just wondering this is enough or not?? should i buy some car washer liquid to wash?? My friend told me that it is not good to use plain water to wash car as dirt may eat into ur paint!!
  16. I heard that 100% white cotton towels are the best for cleaning your car after a wash compared to chamois which will apparently scratch your car. What do you guys use?
  17. hi all, is it to remove most of the swirl marks, i have to send to those car grooming services ? bcause juz did a fresh AIO and SG ... oh no, indeed the car looks shiny however it also amplifys all of the swirl marks and scratches esp under bright sunlight hence i wonder will the swirl remover do the trick to reduce the swirls or should send to the pro to use the machine to buff off the scratches and swirls ? happy new year cheers
  18. During those "snow washes" at petrol stations where they use high pressure jet, do you think such jet of water will damage the disc brakes eg. warping, since they normally spray into your wheels? I heard that it is advisable to let the disc brakes cool down first before splashing it with water as it will prevent the disc from warping. So is such washing damaging??
  19. Hi all, Done my ride with toughseal PPS www.toughseal.com.sg Bought the car washing equipment which is very good www.carwash.com.sg Enjoying my weekend afternoon ever since for past 2 months

  22. Firstly HI GuyZ ! I have found this forum quite informative for a car owner, and myself had just received my new ride and so would like to ask for a few tips on how to wash my new car. When washing a car before hand,i should hose it right? What kind of shampoo should i use? Is AutoGylm Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner good..?Is there any side effects? any Bros here tried it?...and what's a terry cloth?... should i apply the car shampoo to the terry cloth n then wipe all over the car, followed by a hosing down of the shampoo, then drying the car using chamois cloth? Sorry to ask soooo many questions as i m a newbie when it comes to washing of cars...
  23. Hi,after waxing/polishing do you wash the car weekly with car shampoo or just plain water and dry off ? Heard from glooming companies that weekly rinse off with just water is best to prevent the sealant from deterioting...Any comments from bros here.. Cheers
  24. STEPS TO WASHING YOUR CAR General steps below: 1. Rinse car to remove loose grit, dirt, including wheels and wheel wells. 2. Apply car shampoo using a sponge or a wash mitt ....start shampooing and work your way from the top down, and rims last. Use a different sponge for the rims. 3. Rinse car....start from the top first. 4. Use chamois to dry car. I usually hold both ends of the chamois and drag it along the top surfaces to drain off all the water, its quick and fast and does not exert much pressure on the paintwork, thus lessens the chances of getting swirl marks. Move in straight parallel lines, in the direction of air flow, rather than in circles, to minimise circular swirl marks, which are more visible. 5. Open doors and wipe door sill areas. 6. Open boot and wipe boot sill areas. Steps 1-6 should take about 45 minutes. Additional Steps: Shake off dirt from car mats. Vacuum car. Clean windows with glass cleaner. Apply leather cleaner/conditioner to leather seats. Apply sealant/wax to car. Points to Note: Try to wash your car at least once a week. Try not to wash your car under the hot sun. If you really have to, then during shampoo each area and rinse before moving on to another area. This is to prevent the shampoo from drying on the paintwork. Basic concept is to always work from the top areas first and move your way down. This applies to washing and drying. These are general steps, and you may vary the steps according to your preference. Time taken fro each step also varies from person to person. You can also take a look at the Car Washing disccussion thread here --> http://www.mycarforum.com/..._latest_reply;so=ASC If you intend to clay bar your ride, it will be between steps 3 and 4.
