  1. I got this cheap water filter system from MY. It has a dome ceramic on top, the some soil and gravel in the tube, and bottom of the filter is some volcanic rocks. You pour the tap water on top and the water will slowly drip downwards. There's the plastic tap for you to push to dispense the water for drinking like those we see at those normal bottled water drinking dispenser. Where in SG can I buy the replacement plastic tap? Anyone knows? I have bought it once in KL but now pecah again :(
  2. Any recommendations for a product of this nature?
  3. The Escape Theme Park in Penang is going to have the world’s longest water slide. Measuring 1,140m long, the waterslide is already 80 per cent complete, and is expected to be ready by next month. The theme park’s chief executive officer Sim Choo Kheng, said: “It is expected to be the longest in the world, longer than the water slide in New Jersey, USA, which is 602m long. “It can go into the Guinness Book of Records. “It is a challenge to build due to topographical factors and lack of machinery. “It is expected to open to the public in early August after a security check is carried out,” he said, after a site visit with chairman of Penang Development, Heritage, Culture and Arts Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin on Sunday (June 23). Visitors will slide down from the hilltop and cross Jalan Teluk Bahang to the suspension bridge and end up at the water theme park. The hilltop is also the start of other rides such as luge (sleds down the hill), zip coasters and sliding tubes. The theme park already has a 300m long water slide that was launched last year. Mr Sim said a 400m long cable car ride with 30 seats would also be completed at the same time as the water slide. “The cable car connects between the foothills and the water slide. “It is unique as it goes through the jungle,” he added. The theme park is listed in the international holiday assessor site, TripAdvisor.
  4. SINGAPORE: The supply of water to Singapore was disrupted after the PUB's Johor River Waterworks halted water treatment operations due to the high levels of ammonia in the river, Singapore's national water agency said on Thursday (Apr 4). A spokesman said: “PUB’s waterworks in Johor, the Johor River Waterworks (JRWW), has stopped treatment operations this afternoon due to high ammonia levels found in the Johor River. “The stoppage of treatment operations at JRWW disrupted its water supply to Singapore and some parts of Johor. Water supply in Singapore is not affected as PUB has stepped up production at the desalination plants and local waterworks to meet demand. “PUB is monitoring the raw water quality in Johor River closely and will resume abstraction and treatment of raw water when water quality is suitable.” Read more at https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/ammonia-pollution-johor-river-singapore-water-supply-disrupted-11413570 Everything there's something new about sg and msia. 5. Singapore authorities recall bottled water from Malaysia containing bacteria Authorities here have issued a recall of bottled mineral water imported from Malaysia after it was found to contain a common environmental bacterium that is found in faeces, soil, water and sewage. In a media statement on Wednesday (June 12), the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said that the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa was detected in Malaysia’s “Starfresh” bottled drinking water during a routine sampling of the product. It comes in 500ml and 1.5 litre bottles. The agency said it has directed the importer Radha Exports to recall all affected products, with the process ongoing. It pointed out that the bacterium can multiply in water environments and also on the surface of suitable organic materials in contact with water. “Use or consumption of products contaminated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa can cause a range of infections but rarely causes serious illness in healthy individuals,” said the agency. Consumers who have purchased the product are advised not to consume it. Those who might have done so and are concerned about their health should seek medical advice, said the agency. Affected consumers, it added, can contact Radha Exports at 6220 2777 for enquiries or exchange of product.

  16. Hi all. I have been observing that my HDB flat water pressure has been slowly dropping as the months go by. I suspect the HDB is slowly shutting the water valve controlling the water pressure to save water. Now the pressure has become so bad that if my washing machine is running, someone is using 2 other taps in the house, I got hardly any water for my shower in the Master Bedroom Toilet. I called them ysterday n ty sent a plumber who said his "meter" shows the pressure abt 2.2 bar is "good" n he cannot do anything. He checked my taps n said the filters r clogged n ask me to clean them. I did that but still the pressure is very low unlike when I moved in abt15-20 years ago when the water was spraying like a fire hose. I cud take a quick shower in 10 mins b4. Now takes at least 20 mins.
  17. It is mid-Mar and still no sight of rain... Should we do a water rationing exercise (also match the theme of Total Defence)? If not, how do we know that the protocol / procedures are still relevant to today's context?

  19. I live in an old 1960s apartment and I noticed in late December that water was leaking from the false ceiling in my toilet, right above the toilet bowl. Became worse 2 days later. Called NTUC Home Income services. The contractor came 5 hours later and sliced the false ceiling. He said it was bad. He found the concrete dislodged. The steel bars are exposed. Water is dripipping from the steel bar area. The owner above told me a tenant is living above and he is overseas. Anyone knows what are the next series of events I should expect? I am thinking that their toilet floor and bottom wall tiles (20 cm) have to be hacked off. Toilet bowl, sink all have to be removed. And a contractor needs to apply the water proof membrane on the whole floor and 20 cm of the wall tiles. The whole process may take 4 days. Should I alert the owner that her tenant would need to find an alternative place to stay for 4 days otherwise he will not be able to use the toilet and bath?
  20. Hi, Looking for an electrician to rewire my friend's resale HDB. Actually do we need EMA certified electrician to do the work? Cos I guess a lot of electrician from the north do not have such certification but of course their price are cheaper. By the way, if you have any good electrician pls recommend.... I found some with $45 for single 13A power gang and $55 for double power gang, $28 for light point.... See any can be better than this... Thanks!!
  21. Getting a new storage water heater to replace the existing one that is leaking. What is the different between horizontal and vertical model ?
  22. You might want to skip the coolant replacement at Komoco and have this replacement done somewhere else that uses premix coolant or with distilled water. I was at Komoco for their package C servicing which includes coolant replacement. I was shock to find out that Komoco is not using original Hyundai premix coolant but some unknown brand concentrate and they top up with tap water.. a strict no-no for radiators as tap water creates scaling in the radiator and engine blocks. It is even worst as the technician mixes the coolant to tap water ratio based on their gut feel rather than use measuring apparatus. I was too late to stop them as I found out about their practise of using tap water only after they have replaced the coolant on my car. I got the coolant replaced with Mitsubishi long life coolant at another workshop right after the incident at Komoco. Mind you, owners pay a premium over outside workshop on their service packages. It is only right for Komoco to use genuine parts/fluids for servicing. Other than the coolant issue, I encountered another very unpleasant incident. The service advisor reversed my car into a parked Avante at the quick service centre area. My bumper was scratched as a result but the Avante bumper got scratches and some minor misalignment of the bumper. No news from Komoco regarding goodwill compensation. So I guess Komoco is now out of question for any of my future servicing, their loss not mine. Hyundai owners.. be extra cautious when servicing with Komoco. If your car is under warranty, I guess you do not have a choice. If warranty has already expired, there are many other well established workshop out there that provides better value and money servicing for our Hyundai cars.

  24. Hope the victims can survive and recover from this mishap . More than 200 injured in explosion at Taiwan water park PUBLISHED ON JUN 28, 2015 12:57 AM 1690 748 0 0PRINTEMAIL People carry an injured man at the Formosa Fun Coast amusement park after an explosion in the Pali district of New Taipei City on June 27, 2015. -- PHOTO: AFP TAIPEI (AFP) - More than 200 people were injured, over 80 of them seriously, in an explosion at a water park outside Taiwan’s capital Taipei Saturday after coloured powder being sprayed onto a crowd ignited, officials said. Footage on the Apple Daily newspaper website showed crowds dancing as music played and clouds of powder being sprayed out which suddenly turned into a ball of fire that swept through the spectators. “Our initial understanding is this explosion and fire... was caused by the powder spray. It could have been due to the heat of the lights on the stage,” said a spokesman for the New Taipei City fire department. The municipality’s deputy mayor said 221 had been hospitalised, with fire officials earlier saying 81 had been seriously injured. Local media reported that 97 people were seriously hurt. The blast happened as hundreds gathered for an event at the coastal Formosa Fun Coast waterpark, just outside the capital Taipei. Television images showed the stage on fire and crowds running away, some of them only dressed in swimwear and covered in coloured powder. The fire was quickly extinguished, officials said. One male witness told local news channel CTI: “It started on the left side of the stage. At the beginning I thought it was part of the special effects of the party but then I realised there was something wrong and people started screaming and running.” Media reports said some victims had suffered burns to more than 40 per cent of their bodies. A doctor treating 41 victims at one hospital in Taipei said 17 of them were “seriously burned”. “They all had respiratory system damage,” he said. Dazed victims were carried from the site on inflatable rubber rings and others were lying on inflatable water toys with bystanders pouring water over them from plastic bottles. Authorities said that ambulances had struggled to get near to the site and had to send in emergency workers with stretchers. “We feel sad and regretful about the accident,” New Taipei Mayor Eric Chu told reporters. He said that extra doctors had been called in to help treat the victims. “I’ve ordered the park to shut down immediately and be placed under a rigorous investigation,” he added. - See more at: http://www.straitstimes.com/news/asia/east-asia/story/more-200-injured-explosion-taiwan-amusement-park-20150628#sthash.s7mCvDxm.dpuf https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDU0cNPguX8
