  1. I've this rattling noise from under the car(or from engine) when engine is cold.. Strange thing is that it only occurs at about 1400rpm-1600rpm.. When the car starts at cold, the sound is quite obvious, as the car idles at 1500 rpm... If I step on gas slightly, it disappears at 2000rpm. The mechanic says it is the lifters.. But there's no sound before he changed my clutch and flywheel. I think it is the exhausts pipes somewhere... Just got my clutch, seals, flywheel, starter changed... The clutch feel deteriorate after 1 week or so.. I think some oil is leaking on the flywheel.. Obviously, the mechanic is not going to dismantle my transmission for free just to check for any leaks again.. If clutch is oil contaminated, what possible cause? Engine oil leak? Transmission oil leak?
  2. My rear tires are totally worn out on the inside, and slight thread on outside.. The tire company says I cannot claim warranty unless the tires are equally worn, so I rotate the rear tires, and now I've been having fun with it.. Approach a turn from 2nd lane, at maybe 30-40kmh, turn the front tires quite sharply, and press the accelerator to break free the rear tires.. Do a mini powerslide..
  3. My car is producing clunking sound when going over bumps.. Its on the rear right wheel.. I don't know what might be the problem yet.. It doesn't make noise when I try to bounce the car with my hand.. I suspect its the exhausts hooks might be loose, or something to do with struts or bushings.... I guess have to bring it to the mechanic to find out.
  4. Guys, What is root cause when I full blast my music and the lights (display light on the player) dim down whenever there is a punch. I understand that there is a drain of power, so how should I go about correctly this? Kelvin the Gadgeter
  5. What will be an indicator of time to change tyre ? Below is what I can thing of ... but need expert advise: - Age (2 yrs) - Distance covered (30,000km - 40,000km) - Irregular wear - Thread depth is shallow (how to measure ???)
  6. Hi guys, I have VW logo on my rims of the Fabia I drive and I am beginning to dislike it if onlookers think I am trying to disguise my Faby as a VW make. I am considering various options to debadge the rims but before I do it, I thought I'd create a poll and hear your comments as well. FYI, I got the VW rims because of Option 2 in the polls - Couldnt find a suitable rims for the Skoda except for a VW make - which is Made in Italy! I could find a 16" for my Faby's PCD but then again, my Faby cannot take 16".... as its stock size is just 14" and as it was, its already very underpowered.
  7. Noticed the steering wheel vibrates when i apply on the brakes to come to a stop. It normally happens at the point when the car is coming to stop. Can this be due to warped brake discs or the wobbling of the wheels? Or uneven wear of the brake pads? Thanks.
  8. If you get knocking sounds when braking in your 850/70 series, check the a-arm bushing when it connects to the chassis sub-frame. 4 in total and should be replace is worn out.
