  1. I have already stopped at the traffic junction, when a taxi making a turn hit my side bumper. The taxi driver ask me to claim against his company. However, I was now told that I only stand a 50% chance of claiming against him as this kind of accident difficult to prove cos hit on the side. I am now thinking of taking the easy way out and pay for the repair myself. I don't want to send to the agent for repair cos will have to pay more. However, if I were to send to the normal workshop, will it affect my car's warranty? Also, the taxi also got some damages. If I don't claim against him, can he claim against me.
  2. Just now drove my car Kia Rio 1.4M to my nearby Petrol Station to top up fuel and pump the tyre. I encountered ERR1 and ERR2 displayed at the air pump while pumping my left front tyre. I realise the air did not pump instead tyre release the air. I tried other 3 tyres and sometimes error came out but did not release the air. I was worried as the tyre was almost flaten. I quickly drove to another air pump and manage to pump back all the tyres in shape. Does anyone encounter this problem before ? Is it Air Pump problem or my tyre ?

  7. Hi, I have not been driving for 6 years now, but my new ride is coming on Thu. Just wish to hear some opinions on reverse parking. I got my license in the States and was taught to use the mirrors and also to turn my head when reversing my car into the parking lot. But when I return to SG, I notice many of my friends just use the mirrors w/o turning their heads AT ALL (which is surprising to me). Can someone advise if just relying on the mirrors is good enough? Thx. p.s. apologize for the novice qtn, but have not driven for a while, so you know...
  8. Stupid me. I left my engine idling when I was waiting for my wife last night. Unaware that the engine is idling, I crank it again. A high pitch noise came from the engine, similar to the sound of metal scratching again each other. Wondering what harm I have done to my ride? Do I need to bring it in for a checkup? If there is anything wrong, how can I tell?
  9. 2 days in a row, I saw cyclists talking on handphone while peddling on the main roads.
  10. Economical and fast: 3.4 litres for 100 km, 6.3 sec, 230 kph TDI engine develops 100 kW und more than 250 Nm from 1.5 litres cubic capacity And in the words of CAR's Georg Kacher, "...its gearbox response comes in two modes - lightning and telepathic...." Oh yeah. Of course, even if they build it, we won't get it here as it's a TDi but, hey, just like the Veyron, be glad it exists.... Didn't bother to ripoff the whole article but for more words and pics, check out: http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm?NewsI...en=/country/gcf

  16. Dear Chevians, Being too lazy to see all the relevant threads for the following, please do kindly fill me in.... 1) Where to buy a thinner engine oil for my optra? eg 40w type? 2) Where to change the oil? other than SA.... 3) Where to do up the car other than SA? eg. CAI, bodykits, air filter etc? Is there just one place to fix all the above? Please add the typical Singaporean attitude to the questions above... "Cheap and Good" FYI, I have just change the oil sensor in SA for the erratic and eccentric oil indicator yesterday... It was fine till i backside itchy, pump V power then to 95 and back to the regular 92...yet to test the new sensor out... Changed 2 light bulbs too... as one went blind... include 1 "big one" and 1 "small one"... Cost around $18.85... forgo the 20k servicing... looking for alternative sources for future servicing... Thanks a bunch!
  17. my personal experience to share: had a little accident with a kerb at ~60km/h while driving to my parents place. i was feeling sleepy throughout the whole journey, while driving on right lane with no cars around. there was a slight bend, my mind switched off momentarily and the next thing i knew, BANG!. i was jolted wide awake, and when i reached parent's place, i inspected the right side of the car and the rims were badly scratched. luckily i was alone and i didnt bang against any other car or persons at the impact, my right ear was jarred and my right arm felt slightly numb. heh moral of the story: sleepy drivers should either stop driving for awhile and rest or stay away from the road.
  18. Hi guys , resently i have installed the rear spoiler of my CRV. Went to a shop near to the holiday inn. But after the drilling of the hole for the spoiler, i found that the hole cannot be covered by my casing . Make me very du lan already. Some more they spent a few hours installating the spoiler , i found that the shape is very strange and later the senior guy told me that they have drilled the wrong hole on my car for the spoiler . Make me even more du lan . The hole is about 2cm big and is exposed on rear of my car.and there is 4 of them. Make me really very du lan. Luckly the boss say that it is the fault of the tech and said that they will bear the responsibility of repairing the hole. The supervisor say that they will pay for all the paint work for my car. Sigh, at least that the supervisor is trying to make up for me. i feel like the tech I have to go back next week to do the paintwork. very du lan man. That is really not my day man.
  19. *start of rant it was safe to proceed and infront of me was a cefiro. behind me was a taxi, all 3 was proceeding, the cefiro took its time, and i maintain 1/2 car length to enter the gates. and all of a sudden, i got horned by the taxi driver for nothing in the middle of the turn while still maintaining 1/2 car length for some reasons unknown. i got really mad, was fuming and felt my blood boiling and as i straightened out. i stared at the bugger through the rear view mirror. wanted to point out to him at the cefiro in front, but was too fed up to do so. *end of rant looking back, it could have been an friendly/accident tap of the horn, but i doubt it
  20. Hi all, Yesterday I was driving along the main road (not 100% sure if it's called EuTongSen or outram rd), but I was coming from city hall direction, stopping at a junction opposite people's park shopping centre (infront of Chinatown point), waiting to turn right and go toward CTE from there. While approaching the traffic junction, slowing down....a Unidentified Flying Object flew from my right and dropped right onto my bonnet, causing a big dent. Initially, I thought it was a big fruit that was dropped from the trees....but my wife was with me and she shouted "Wah! how come got such a big stone!?!?" And there was no big trucks/tippers in sight! Then we proceeded to turn right and stop right below the overhead bridge connecting OG and people's park and examined the damage. Big dent + scratch. I went back to the scene of crime, trying to find out what happened but I couldn't find any clue except that....I found that on both sides of the roads (towards Outram or towards Cityhall), there were a few pieces of concrete-like stones on the road. Therefore I have thought of a few possibilities. 1) Someone was playing with those F***ing stones. Threw them onto cars from afar and run 2) Some trucks/tippers was carrying such rocks and it felled onto the road. Other cars/buses/trucks drove over it at high speed and kicked up the rocks and then it flew towards my car (but not quite likely coz the rocks are too big to be 'kick-up' by cars driving over it.....furthermore, the rock came from the other side of the road, instead of coming from behind a car which I was following...if any) 3) Some UFO flying around in Singapore sky and dropped their egg which fossilised into stone while in the air and dropped onto my bonnet. (As if this will happen) Sigh. The purpose of writing this post....is to seek some advise from fellow brothers here on the recourse I should seek. 1) Complain to LTA? (I don't think they'll chup me) 2) Complain to xxx construction contractors? (There isn't any construction site near there when I went to scout around) 3) Go temple to "beat small people"? Never tried before, but don't mind going if it's found to be someone's mischief 4) Claim from Insurance? (I think got excess coz can't find the culprit ) If I need to respray this bonnet at my own expenses, then very likely, I'll be tempted to go malaysia....but this particular car....never went to malaysia....unlike my Mazda 323..... Anyway, I appreciate all advise. Thanks in advance.
  21. This is not a joke, it really happens on the coastal road on the East of MY, the car was slightly damaged
  22. to all ICE lovers!!! Just a word of warning..... my ICE just met a disaster.... 1 fine day while blasting my set happily, burnt smell came out and the sound was like having a 'diarrhea'. finally, the set gave way and all I can listen to is my Nokia h/p's radio. After studying wat's the prob, finally the verdit is cause by the amp ground cable being not thick enough to allow the inlet currrent to flow through quickly..... therefore, no choice but to upgrade my set with new Performa amp and a set of Bazooka front speaker....now it is better than b4........
  23. hi, anyone of you folks own a van and can lend for a short drive on sat/sun for about 1hr at most? i can also compensate a token sum for your kinda gesture of lending out this van
  24. Strange thing happened this morning... while reversing to park my car in office carpark, the car just died after a few metres... mine's a auto tranny car... had to off everything and pause for awhile before able to restart.. anyone have any idea what's wrong? I thought I smelt something burnt in the car intermittently, but not too sure... sigh Shag, could it be due to the leak we saw on Saturday?? Never happened before till this morning... hope nothing serious... otherwise auto tranny problem means $$$$
  25. My fren's car paintwork was scratched in 2 places while undergoing regular servicing. One about 3cm and the other about 1cm. The workshop has admitted liability. What kind of compensation should he accept to be considered fair?
