But Hougang grassroots adviser Desmond Choo looks set to clinch what is believed to be the country's first sexism award, in 'honour' of a person or organisation that has done the greatest disservice to gender equality. The award is the tongue-in-cheek brainchild of the Association of Women for Action and Research (Aware), which will dish it out on Oct 17 during its fundraising dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hotel to celebrate its 26th anniversary. The women's advocacy group will give three other awards to recognise those who have promoted gender equality causes. The sexism award, called the Alamak Award, has five nominees. A police officer pulls over a speeding car. The officer says,' I clocked you at 80 miles per hour, sir.' The driver says, 'Gee, officer, I had it on cruise control at 60; perhaps your radar gun needs calibrating. ' Not looking up from her knitting the wife says: 'Now don't be silly, dear -- you know that this car doesn't have cruise control.' As the officer writes out the ticket, the driver looks over at his wife and growls, 'Can't you please keep your mouth shut for once !! ?' The wife smiles demurely and says, 'Well dear you should be thankful your radar detector went off when it did or your speed would have been higher.' As the officer makes out the second ticket for the illegal radar detector unit, the man glowers at his wife and says through clenched teeth, 'Woman, can't you keep your mouth shut?' The officer frowns and says, 'And I notice that you're not wearing your seat belt, sir. That's an automatic $75 fine.' The driver says, 'Yeah, well, you see, officer, I had it on, but I took it off when you pulled me over so that I could get my license out of my back pocket.' The wife says, 'Now, dear, you know very well that you didn't have your seat belt on. You never wear your seat belt when you're driving.' And as the police officer is writing out the third ticket, the driver turns to his wife and barks, 'WILL YOU PLEASE SHUT UP??' The officer looks over at the woman and asks, 'Does your husband always talk to you this way, Ma'am?' (I love this part...) 'Only when he's been drinking.'

Hi all, I am posting this to seek advice for my troubled friend. You see, he got to know a Thai girl at the beginning of this year. During this time, they are really happy together and are very much in love. Once, when she went back to Thailand to visit her sick mother, my friend really missed her. That's when he realized he can't do without her. The thing now is, she is holding a student pass, taking up a course here which will end in a couple of months. This means that she cannot stay in Singapore for long, unless they register for a marriage. She has tried to look for job here but it seems that most don't want to consider her as she is not SC/PR. My friend has spoken to his parents who are skeptical about this marriage. His parents are worried that the girl is not serious, just seeking PR status. So if you were in my friend's shoes, what would you do? Anyone here with Thai wife or girlfriend who can comment on this? Generally, how is the idea of a Thai wife? Appreciate all comments or inputs. Thanks.

Hi, Guys Anybody here have PRC wife? I am of marriage age(32) and my aging mother is pushing me to go for matchmaking sessions. The ladies are mostly from PRC with immediate family(father, mother, sister) already in Singapore(business) or already working in singapore. These lobangs are so call from friends of my mother. Mostly abt 20+ years old. Had an bad experience(although i emerge unscathed, only emotionally hurt) from a PRC girlfriend before. Therefore would like to seek you guys experience.

headache, xmas coming, what to buy for wife since married, almost no chance, no need, to chit chat with other ladies as often. what is the in thing for ladies lately? apart from the usual LV, prada, (which over the yrs, i have managed to add to a small collection for my wife) or victoria secrets, or some shiny sandles i dont' recalled the name, but so many wearing it. can help? is there some kind of jewellery quite in fashion now? (of cos, i dunno the name also) if i am not wrong, its in the same league as tiffany type. I read the Chinese evening paper at times, and I often read that many Singaporean men married PRC girls, who disappears after getting SG citizenship or ROM cert. I cannot understand these guys. Does these guys aware most PRC girls are only here to try gain citizenship and try all sorts of ways to get married? If I sound condescending, pardon me.

Today damn sad day for me, my baby was hospitalized last night for stomach flu. She is alright now. But I am damn angry with my ex-wife whom notified me via EMAIL that my child has been hospitalized 12 hours ago! By email???? I rushed down to the hospital within 15 mins to see my baby. When I arrived, it seemed like I was the last person to know as my sis in-laws were there with gifts already! I F-ed my ex-wife left right center and told her she didnt respect me as baby's father and how can a person send email in such a situation! My ex-wife being very confrontational type and dont want to lose mentality called me 'lower than an animal' for saying that I want to be notified other than email in an emergency!

Yahoo News M'sian charged with biting wife during sex By News Desk in Kuantan/The Star | ANN Kuantan (The Star/ANN) - A Malaysian rubber tapper claimed trial at a Sessions Court here to a charge of hurting his wife by allegedly biting her private parts. Mohd Shakri Ismail, 28, is charged with causing injury to his wife Roshapida Mat Sidik, 23, while trying to have sex with her at their home at Felda Bukit Goh here between 12am and 3.30am on April 21. If convicted, he could be jailed up to five years. Mohd Shakri, who was unrepresented, told Sessions judge Noradidah Ahmad that he never hurt his wife. Noradidah then asked him why there were bite marks on Roshapida's genitals. Mohd Shakri did not answer the question and pleaded not guilty. Noradidah fixed bail at RM7,000 and set July 25 for mention.
